Climate Scientists vs. Congress (Video)

At the moment, I can’t think of a profession I’m less envious of than that of the American climate scientist. Consider: The climate science community’s years of meticulous study, research, data collection and modeling — not to mention its cautious, much-deliberated-over policy guidelines — are met with what? Certainly not our thanks. Nope, instead, climate scientists… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Obama’s Plan to Become Washington’s ‘Last Reasonable Man’ [Video]

Barack Obama gave a definitive press conference this afternoon — excoriating Republican “hostage takers” and “sanctimonious” Democrats alike, and outlining a clear strategy for centrism. And he kicked it off by getting angry. More

Glenn Beck floats absurd rumor that there are over 150 million Islamic terrorists worldwide

Besides the young Muslim men whom the FBI recruits, funds, and gives the means and support to carry out attacks within the US, there are no doubt terrorists worldwide who are a danger to innocent people. And no I'm not referrring to rogue elements of the Mossad or the CIA, whom are known to fund real terror groups like the Jundallah, and assign them to carry out bombings and political assasinations in Iran and stir up ethnic tensions with bordering nations. No I'm talking about REAL religious fundamentalists who are willing to commit acts of terrorism for whatever reason. There is no doubt that they exist. But 157 million of them? Glenn Beck's willingness to float such an absurd rumor shows that Glenn Beck is perfectly willing to continue to propagandize for the Israel and the Military Industrial Complex's fake War on Terrorism, as he has done so many times in the past while pretending to be anti-establishment. *** On his radio program this morning, Fox News host Glenn Beck said that he suspects that close to 10 percent of Muslims are terrorists: BECK: What is the number of Islamic terrorists? One percent? I think it’s closer to 10 percent, but the rest of the PC world will tell you ‘oh no, it’s minuscule.’ Okay, well, let’s take you at your one percent. Look at the havoc of one percent of Muslims causing on the rest of the world! According to a Pew report from last year, there are 1.57 billion Muslims in the world. Thus, by Beck’s calculations, there would be 157 million Islamic terrorists — more than half the population of the U.S. Even at 1 percent, which Beck claims the “PC world” believes, there would be 1.57 million Muslim terrorists. But there is probably more than just foolishness behind Beck’s comment. For example, as Media Matters notes, while at CNN, Beck asked then Rep.-elect Keith Ellison (D-MN) — the first Muslim ever elected to Congress — “What I feel like saying is, ‘Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.’” Listen here: added by: maasanova

“Obama’s Net Neutrality”: An Ominous Threat to Our Rights and Free Speech.

It appears that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with the blessings of the Obama Administration will seek to impose “net neutrality” policies using the Thanksgiving and Christmas recesses when Congress is out of session to facilitate this. Encouraged by the far left and aided with financial assistance from George Soros, this change will provide the federal government with much greater control of various aspects of the internet as opposed to the companies that spent billions of dollars constructing and operating the networks and fiberoptic lines. “Net neutrality” is a euphemism for legislated government control of internet communications with the pernicious ability to affect free speech. This legislation has been fervently supported by progressives in order to have the ability to silence conservatives and the opposition who use this avenue such as Fox New, Rush Limbaugh, etc. This is another attack on our rights and freedoms that is supported by the Obama Administration, progressives and communists and funded in part by Soros. http://www.saveyourrights.com/category/freedom-of-speech/ added by: congoboy

Befuddled Bill Press Wants to Go Back to the Clinton Era Tax Cuts That Were Actually Tax Increases

Bill Press appeared on Fox News' Geraldo At Large, on Sunday night, as part of a discussion about whether the Bush era tax cuts would be extended and the former CNN host couldn't get his story straight as he recommended that Congress go back to the Bill Clinton era “tax cuts.” In fact Clinton, back in 1993, passed the largest tax increase in history but this bit of truth

Art Rant: The Washington Post Rails Against ‘Small-Minded Intolerance’ of Cantor, Boehner

Liberal newspapers may claim that taxpayer-funded art galleries should take “public sensitivities” into account, but in reality, they don’t want members of Congress actually representing the insulted public by speaking out against anti-Christian exhibits. Friday’s Washington Post led their editorial page with the headline “The censors arrive: Do Republicans really want to ride into power with a burst of small-minded intolerance? ” That’s funny: Christians might find the “small-minded intolerance” coming from artists who think that modern-day Christianity is an oppressive, Jesus-betraying force – as represented by ants crawling all over Jesus on a crucifix. Here’s the key passage: Public sensibilities must be taken into account when taxpayer funds are in play, but the use of public dollars does not give lawmakers the right to micromanage or censor displays. Nor should the occasional dust-up be justification for threatened retribution against these valuable national assets. We hope Mr. Cantor's threats prompt many additional Washingtonians to visit the exhibit and judge for themselves. read more

The Big Buy: Tom Delay’s Stolen Congress

The story of how Tom Delay stole the U.S. Congress. It’s the story of one of the most blatant power grabs in American history, and how a District Attorney in Texas turned out to be the biggest threat to the national DeLay Machine. The film is a warning about how easy it is for American democracy to be hijacked by a combination of relentless ambition and corporate millions. It makes the case that DeLay built a “custom-made Congress” that is still providing votes for his agenda. added by: treewolf39

Grayson: GOP’s Primary Reason For Tax Cuts Is To Benefit Right-Wing Pundits

I love Grayson because he does not hold back…..He was the GOP's number one target in the last election and here is a example of why they spent tens of millions of dollars to defeat him. http://www.theatlanticwire.com/opinions/view/opinion/Afternoon-Vid-Alan-Grayson-… Subtlety isn't one Alan Grayson's better traits. The outgoing Florida Congressman is perhaps best known now as the man who unwisely branded his opponent “Taliban Dan” in a desperate bid to keep his seat. The firestorm surrounding the ill-conceived attack ad managed to prove that even an American electorate hardened to ludricious political advertising knew when a line had been crossed. It also prompted a discussion about whether he was, in fact, “America's Worst Politician.” Now, as he exits Congress, Grayson has lobbed one last salvo at nearly everyone in the GOP. In a slide-show exhibit decrying tax cuts for the rich, the representative tried to rally his colleagues by pointing to the obscene amounts of money that the richest Republicans will likely reap if the Bush tax cuts are extended. In between the slides, he also managed to add slight personal digs to each of the prominent conservatives. Here's a running tally of how he described each Republican: Glenn Beck – The man makes millions from an “ongoing, night by night imitation of Howard Beale from Network” Sean Hannity – (aka “Man of the People”) “Maybe he can go and afford some anger management classes” Bill O'Reilly – “He's No Pinhead” about arguing for tax cuts that only benefit rich people like him. Rush Limbaugh – (aka “the man with the cigar”) Sarah Palin – “She's done a better job of turning fame into cash than anyone in American history” Newt Gingrich – “The man who did such a great job in running America back in the 90's that he want's a second chance this decade. Newt if you do to us what you did to us then, we're going to be in big trouble.” George W. Bush – (aka “the Big Cheese”) “the man who got us into two endless wars, the man who brought us to the brink of national bankruptcy, the man who gave us four dollar a gallon gasoline.” http://www.theatlanticwire.com/opinions/view/opinion/Afternoon-Vid-Alan-Grayson-… added by: navider

MRC’s Bozell Discusses Media’s Pro-Tax Hike Bias on December 3 ‘Fox & Friends’

While the media have been hyping rich liberals like Ted Turner and Warren Buffett calling on Congress to raise taxes on Americans earning over $250,000 per year, they've failed to inform the public that the nation's top earners already pay a disproportionately large share of the nation's tax burden, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News's Steve Doocy on this morning's “Fox & Friends” : read more

’60 Minutes’ Correspondent Laments GOP Opposition to Lame-Duck Legislation

On Thursday's “Morning Joe,” “60 Minutes” correspondent Lesley Stahl deplored the GOP stiff-arm to Democratic lame-duck legislation, complaining that it wiped out the conciliatory tone of the Republicans' meeting with President Obama. She referred to the GOP strategy as “the maneuvering that I think is such a turnoff.” “If you're up here after the White House meeting saying 'Yes, they can be civil to each other,' and it's just a tone. We know it's a tone. And then it's dashed,” she mourned. “After the meeting with the President, everybody – I think, I think – in the country said this is great, this is what we want, we want that tone,” she gushed of the GOP leadership's meeting with Obama. Stahl then lamented the GOP's ensuing opposition to Democratic legislation until extending the Bush tax cuts is made a top priority.
