Michael Jackson’s Heart Still Beating In Emergency Room, Lawyer Claims

Joe Jackson, singer’s father, is likely to file a wrongful death suit against Dr. Conrad Murray within 90 days. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images Despite initial reports that Michael Jackson was unresponsive and paramedics were unable to revive him when he suffered cardiac arrest last June, an attorney for Jackson’s father, Joseph, claims that the singer had a weak heartbeat when he arrived in the emergency room. According to CNN , the claim is the first step in a pending wrongful death suit against Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the case. The suit could be filed within the next 90 days, and it will hinge on the crucial final moments of Jackson’s life and Murray’s actions during that time. Attorney Brian Oxman, who is representing Joseph Jackson, told CNN that medical records show that Jackson’s heart beat briefly when he arrived at the UCLA Medical Center emergency room, but that the musical icon was “long gone” by that point. Oxman mailed a letter to Murray’s representatives over the weekend serving notice that the wrongful death suit is imminent and that it will accuse Murray of causing Jackson’s death by not calling an ambulance fast enough. “The bottom line is, had [paramedics] gotten there earlier and had they been called right away, chances are he could have been revived,” Oxman said, noting that medical records show Jackson was “long gone, 20 to 40 minutes before the paramedics got there.” reported that doctors who worked on Jackson at the hospital said two EKG tests showed rhythmic heart activity both times and that unnamed sources close to Murray claim the doctor said he was able to restart Jackson’s heart at the singer’s rented home before paramedics arrived and maintain it in the ambulance. Those claims contradict those from paramedics on the scene, who said they wanted to take Jackson straight to the morgue and not the hospital because they believed he was already dead, as well as those from Oxman, who credited the weak pulse found at UCLA Medical Center to a reaction from resuscitation results. The Los Angeles coroner concluded that Jackson’s death was caused by “acute propofol intoxication” caused by a large dose of the powerful surgical anesthetic administered by Murray in an attempt to help Jackson, a chronic insomniac, get to sleep. Jackson, 50, was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical two hours after arriving. Murray is currently free on $75,000 bail in the case, and since California law requires medical wrongful death lawsuits to be filed within a year of the death, Oxman said the 90-day notice was given in order to meet the legal deadline for filing. The next hearing in Murray’s criminal case, in which he faces up to four years in prison , is April 5. Last week, a prosecutor’s report was leaked that claimed a witness said Murray stopped efforts to resuscitate Jackson in order to collect and hide multiple bottles of propofol before authorities arrived. In the notice, Oxman called the alleged delay “an outrageous departure from the standard of care.” A spokesperson for Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, said he had not received the letter but described it as “a bucket of water thrown on a man drowning in the ocean.” Joe Jackson has long claimed that he believed there was a cover-up in the death of his son , and after Murray’s charging, he referred to the physician as a “fall guy,” saying he believed there were other unnamed people involved. Alberto Alvarez: Dr. Conrad Murray Stopped CPR on Michael Jackson to Hide Propofol

Bodyguard Alberto Alvarez is making a shocking accusation against Dr. Conrad Murray, saying the doc halted CPR on Michael Jackson to hide vials of Propofol. Alvarez, who called 911, told cops months after Jackson’s death that Dr. Murray hid bottles of Propofol in a closet so that family and police wouldn’t find them. He told police he saw Dr. Murray running around the room hiding Propofol bottles in a closet near the room where the doctor administered the drug to Jackson. This adds fuel to a prosecution theory that he covered up evidence . According to Alvarez, Dr. Murray stopped doing CPR and handed Alvarez drug vials, instructing him to put them in a bag. Alvarez says he saw an IV in Jackson’s leg. He notes that Dr. Conrad Murray took Propofol vials and told Alvarez to put them in a plastic bag, then told Alvarez to put the plastic bag inside a canvas bag. Alvarez also says Murray told him to remove the IV that contained a white milky substance (Propofol) in another canvas bag. Where the bags went is unclear. Jackson’s mouth and eyes were wide open but there was no sign of life. He was taken to the UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on June 25. Alvarez also says that MJ’s kids, Prince Michael and Paris, entered the room and cried as they watched Murray administer mouth-to-mouth on the lifeless star. And there’s this: After Jackson died, Murray said he needed to go back to the mansion to get cream Jackson had “so the world wouldn’t find out about it.” Sources connected with Murray’s defense say he hid nothing. Authorities found bottles of the anesthetic in what looks like a secret compartment of the closet. Those sources say Alvarez’s statement came two months after Jackson died and directly contradicts what the bodyguard told the police the day of MJ’s death. Murray sources say Alvarez never said anything about hiding Propofol at the scene. Dr. Murray told cops two days later where Propofol bottles could be found. Law enforcement sources believe Murray connected a large bottle directly into the IV and a massive amount, which entered Jackson’s system and killed him.

Michael Jackson’s Doctor Allegedly Stopped CPR To Hide Evidence

Witness told police Conrad Murray interrupted CPR to collect and hide drug vials. By Eric Ditzian Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images A witness present at Michael Jackson ‘s home on the day he died has made an explosive allegation about the conduct of the pop star’s doctor as he tried to revive Jackson, according to a statement obtained by The Associated Press. Dr. Conrad Murray allegedly interrupted the CPR he was performing on Jackson and delayed calling 911, so he could collect and hide drug vials. Witness Alberto Alvarez, who worked as Jackson’s logistics director, gave the account to Los Angeles police. In February, Murray pled not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson’s death, and the possibility that he attempted to conceal evidence is said to be a likely focus for prosecutors. Alvarez stated that on June 25, he received a distress call from Jackson’s personal assistant and went upstairs to Jackson’s bedroom to find the singer lying in bed and Murray administering CPR with one hand. “Alberto, Alberto, come quickly,” Murray said, according to the statement. “He had a reaction, he had a bad reaction.” Murray was then said to grab a few drug vials with robber tops and instructed Alvarez to place them in a bag. Murray also reportedly told Alvarez to remove an IV bag and place it in a second bag. Not until the vials were hidden did Murray tell Alvarez to call paramedics. Two days later, under intense questioning, Murray finally told police about the existence of the bags, in which the powerful anesthetic propofol and other sedatives were discovered. The coroner’s report has indicated that Murray gave Jackson a dose of propofol sufficient for “major surgery” and that the pop singer died of “acute propofol intoxication.” Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, said Murray did not attempt to hide any evidence. “He wasn’t putting bottles in a bag and trying to hide them,” Chernoff told the AP. “We are confident that a fair trial will ferret out the truth.” Chernoff also spoke to E! News about the statement, which was taken during one of two times Alvarez was interviewed by police. “We note that this statement was given more than two months after Michael Jackson’s death and is inconsistent with a statement he gave the police the day after Mr. Jackson was taken to the hospital,” Chernoff said. “We would ask the public to reserve judgment until after the people’s witnesses are placed under oath and subjected to the rigors of cross-examination.” Related Artists Michael Jackson
