Keeping Up With the Kardashians Recap: Rob is Kim’s Pregnant Friend

Last night’s offering of Keeping Up With the Kardashians continued the now-familiar storyline of Bruce and Brody Jenner trying to repair their relationship. Meanwhile, Kris Jenner and the girls battled allegations from Ellen Pearson, Robert Kardashian Sr.’s ex-wife, with emotions running high as always. Perhaps most significantly, Rob Kardashian gaining 50 pounds carried the most weight Sunday … pun intended. Come along for THG’s official +/- recap! Rob Kardashian’s weight loss became a major story last month. Now, we get to see the precursor – the gain, and the concern of his family members. He’d put on 50 pounds, and felt he was “embarrassing to the family” after weighing in at 241 pounds with a 45-inch waist. Wow dude. Minus 241 . Not only that, be missed the private training sessions Kim Kardashian had set up for him, even as his body fat reached upwards of 50 percent. 50! “I really needed a pregnant friend,” Kim joked, in the line of the night. When Rob insisted he wasn’t pregnant, Kim said, “I know, but you eat like one.” Plus 70 , because even though it was clearly scripted, ouch! The tough love continued, too. Khloe’s plan was to get him to binge hard, getting him so sick on junk food that he’d never want to eat it again. Unfortunately, the plan backfired, however Rob did say later that he wanted to get fit and planned to work out with Khloe’s husband Lamar. Plus 40 . He’s proving a man of his word, too, looking noticeably slimmer and saying his goal is to get down to 200 pounds by July 4. Good work, Rob. Plus 20 . Meanwhile, Kris & Ko. continued their feud with her ex’s other ex, which seems designed primarily to stretch Keeping Up into its hour-long time slot. Seriously. Don’t you miss the half-hour days? Minus 50 . As for Brody and Bruce, we’ve been hearing whispers for awhile, but it was surprising to learn just how absent Bruce was from Brody Jenner’s life. No wonder Brody said Bruce is not the best father . Minus 50 . While it’s terrific to see that they both care enough to work on things now, you can’t help but feel that Bruce’s image has been dented a bit by this. Plus 150 for E! showing his faults, though, and for the father-son duo making strides to improve the situation. Because that’s what it’s all about, no? EPISODE TOTAL: -61!

Edward Snowden: NSA Whistleblower Revealed

Edward Snowden has been revealed as the whistleblower who provided The Guardian (UK) with information for its groundbreaking new report on the NSA. The man who controversially outed the National Security Agency’s surveillance practices to the newspaper unexpectedly outed himself on Sunday. He’s been working with the NSA for four years and copied the last set of documents he intended to leak three weeks ago at his Hawaii office. Snowden, 29, is a Booz Allen Hamilton employee who requested a two-week leave of absence, told his girlfriend he had to leave and flew to Hong Kong. Why there? “Because he believed that it was one of the few places in the world that both could and would resist the dictates of the US government.” Snowden, who previously worked at the CIA after being discharged from the U.S. Army, has now been holed up in a Hong Kong hotel for three weeks. He’s seemingly at peace with the consequences his actions could bring, although he is “intensely nervous” about being spied on, according to reports. “I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions,” he tells the Guardian . “I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant.” “The only thing I fear is the harmful effects on my family, who I won’t be able to help any more. That’s what keeps me up at night,” he added. Snowden’s motivation for leaking NSA documents and information are rooted in a desire to check what he considers government’s abuses of power: “The government has granted itself power it is not entitled to. There is no public oversight. The result is people like myself have the latitude to go further than they are allowed to.” Snowden will likely draw comparisons with that against Wikileaks source Bradley Manning , though Snowden, as a civilian, will not face a military tribunal. Just the same, several lawmakers have already called for him to be prosecuted. The Guardian also published a video interview with Snowden came as the paper was under increasing pressure this weekend to be more transparent. After doubts were cast on its original reporting about the NSA’s surveillance programs, Snowden’s choice to reveal himself immediately turned heads.

Race Matters: Harry Belafonte Says Blacks Should Be More Outraged Over One-Sided Gun Control Conversation

Harry is mad as hell and he’s not gonna take it anymore! Harry Belafonte Says Blacks Should Be Outraged With Gun Control The debate over gun control has been red-hot in America ever since the Sandy Hook school shooting back in December . In the wake of the unconscionable tragedy, the national spotlight shined bright on the issue of gun control and ways to make the country safer. According to Harry Belafonte , the group that suffers the most from gun violence are young African-American children. However, the national media attention fails to reflect how shootings have affected our communities, like the city of Chicago . During his acceptance speech of NAACP’s highest honor, The Springard Medal, Belafonte took time out to push his agenda. Via DemocracyNow “The group that is most devastated by America’s obsession with the gun is African-Americans. Although making comparisons can be dangerous, there are times when they must be noted. America has the largest prison population in the world and the over 2 million men, women, and children that make up the incarcerated, the overwhelming majority of them is black. African-Americans are the most unemployed, the most caught in the unjust systems of justice. And the gun game, they are the most hunted. The rivers of blood that wash the streets of our nation flow mostly from the bodies of our black children. Yet, as the great debate emerges on the question of the gun, white America discusses the constitutional issues of ownership while no one speaks to the consequences of our racial carnage. Where is the outraged voice of black America? Where and why are we muted? Where are our leaders? Where are our legislators? Where is the church …” Handgun hatin’ Harry has a point. We watch these crazy, “ketchup-colored”-neck, country bumpkins rant and rave about how they have a right to own guns every week. We already know they could give two $#!ts about “ni**er” kids dying… Image via zimbio

Prank DJs May Face Probe in Kate Middleton Nurse Death

The two DJs whose now-infamous Kate Middleton prank call apparently led a nurse to commit suicide may face a criminal probe, according to reports. Mel Greig and Michael Christian of Sydney’s 2Day FM pretended to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles inquiring about the health of the pregnant Duchess. The hoax has caused public outcry after Jacintha Saldanha’s suicide . The 46-year-old nurse, who connected the pair to the Duchess’ room, was found dead Friday morning after police were called to an address near the hospital. Circumstances of her death are still being investigated, and are not suspicious at this stage; however, authorities are looking into whether any laws were broken . British police have contacted Australian police about a possible probe into the prank call, specifically the recording and dissemination of the private conversation. Rhys Holleran, CEO of Southern Cross Austereo, the parent company of 2Day FM, has apologized profusely, yet maintains that no laws were broken. The prank had been cleared by the Australian radio station’s lawyers. Holleran said the DJs followed the company’s procedures before broadcasting the call. “Our main concern at this point in time is what has happened is incredibly tragic and we’re deeply saddened and we’re incredibly affected by that,” Holleran said. At the same time, he added, “we’re very confident that we haven’t done anything illegal.” Lord Glenarthur, chairman of King Edward VII’s Hospital, where the pregnant Kate Middleton was/is receiving treatment, condemned the prank Saturday. Glenarthur said the call humiliated “two dedicated and caring nurses,” and the consequences were “tragic beyond words,” The Associated Press reported. Whether it results in criminal charges remains to be seen, but the DJs have already taken themselves off the air and are said to be in “intense” grief counseling.

Chris Harrison on Ryan Lochte as The Bachelor: Two Conditions …

Rumors of Ryan Lochte as The Bachelor are swirling ever since the Olympics, and last night, host-pimp Chris Harrison says he’s very much open to the idea. With a couple of caveats, that is: Lochte must wear a Speedo the entire season. Absolutely no peeing in pools at the mansion. “That’s part of the deal” Harrison said at The Expendables 2 premiere in Hollywood. “Did you see him in his Speedo? I mean, all of America stopped.” “It’s a female driven show, come on!” Lochte, who will guest star on 90210 this fall, said of the Speedo stipulation, “That’s fine … I usually already am. There’s not much of a difference.” While conventional wisdom says the show will go with Arie Luyendyk, Jr. , or Sean Lowe, Harrison says “I think it would be awesome” to have Ryan. “If he promises not to pee in the pool, we’ll be alright.” “If it gets asked, I’d definitely consider it,” the 28-year-old swimmer said of looking for love on The Bachelor this winter. “So we’ll see what happens.” What do you think: Ryan Lochte as The Bachelor?

Colorado Shooting Victim to Dave Mustaine: You’re an Idiot

Dave Mustaine’s claim that President Obama is responsible for the Aurora, Colo., shooting tragedy last month are ridiculous, says victim Carli Richards. Richards, one of the 70 people who was shot in the theater that night (and one of the 58 to survive it), hit back at Mustaine’s conspiracy theory today. After hearing that Mustaine said Obama staged the Aurora shooting to push an anti-gun agenda, Richards said the rocker likely just wants attention: “Some people think the President is a good scapegoat but he didn’t shoot me,” she said. “It’s obviously absurd and people who make up conspiracies just want attention .” “Everybody is emotional at this time and needs to blame somebody I guess.” “I don’t think they realize the consequences of not being responsible for your own actions and James Holmes needs to be held accountable for his, to whatever extent the criminal justice system deems fit.” Speaking of the actual person responsible, Richards, 22, previously said she’d like Holmes to die a slow, painful death , as lethal injection is too humane. What do you think: Death penalty for Holmes? [Photos: WENN.com]

ASPCA Blasts Michael Vick for Possible Dog Adoption

Michael Vick appeared on Pies Morgan Tonight yesterday and said he’d be interesting in adopting a new puppy for his children, telling the host: “I can’t take that dream away from them. That’s selfish on my behalf.” But the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) sees things very differently, releasing a statement in response and calling out the Eagles quarterback – who spent 19 months in prison for dogfighting – for even considering such an idea.

Exclusive ‘That’s My Boy’ Clip: Hot For Teacher

Andy Samberg and his co-stars present the clip during Sneak Peek Week, leading up to this Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards. By Kara Warner Justin Weaver in “That’s My Boy” Photo: Columbia Pictures Are you ready for the raunchiest, most inappropriate-yet-hilarious father/son comedy of the year? Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg are hoping so with Sandler’s first-ever R-rated comedy, “That’s My Boy.” MTV News premiered the film as part of our second annual Sneak Peek Week ahead of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , and a slew of the film’s stars were on hand to help present an exclusive clip to the lucky audience: Samberg, Vanilla Ice, Will Forte, Ciara, Milo Ventimiglia and Eva Amurri. The film revolves around deadbeat dad Donny (Sandler), who got his teacher pregnant when he was just a teenager and raised his son Han Solo Berger (Samberg) as a single parent until Han turned 18. After a financial mishap, Donny reappears in Han’s life on the eve of his wedding. As Donny tries desperately to reconnect with his son, who has changed his name to Todd, Donny must face the consequences of his terrible parenting. The clip provides the background — or an explanation of sorts — for how teenage Donny ended up sleeping with his teacher. In a nutshell, the teacher started it. We see teenage Donny (Justin Weaver) sitting in what appears to be detention for writing an inappropriate note about his teacher (Amurri), who asks if he has a crush on her. Donny looks visibly uncomfortable with the question, particularly after she says, “So, you don’t want me?” and takes her hair out of a ponytail and twirls it around her fingers. “No!” says Donny. “Yeah? I don’t know what I’m supposed to say right now!” “Is that gum in your mouth, Donny?” she asks, putting her hand in front of Donny’s mouth so he can spit the gum out, which naughty teacher puts into her mouth and begins to chew. As is the case with many a Sandler comedy, the scene is both funny and gross at the same time. If you enjoyed the clip, don’t miss the rest of our Sneak Peek Week action with stars from “Magic Mike” and “Rock of Ages,” all leading up to the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards live on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. Fawk A Republican Thug: GOP Newsletter Calls For Armed Revolution If Obama Is Re-Elected

Yo these people are wildin. Conservative Newsletter Calls For Armed Revolution If Obama Is Re-Elected After surviving two terms with an idiot President who sent the nation into a war based on lies and allowed greedy banks and the mortgage industry to drive us into the worst recession ever but these wanksters wanna go and get their guns on the man who has tried to clean up the mess? SMH: A monthly newsletter published by the Greene County Republican Committee in Virginia is raising eyebrows for including a column in its March edition that calls for an “armed revolution” if President Barack Obama is elected to a second term in November. Among articles denouncing a University of Virginia initiative to implement a living wage for employees of the institution, questioning if Obama is “America’s Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President?” and an op-ed slamming the GOP establishment with generous use of capital letters, RightWingWatch picks out a column from the newsletter’s editor, Ponch McPhee. In it, McPhee urges readers to encourage other conservatives to vote in November. He goes on to warn that the consequences of not defeating Obama, a so-called “ideologue unlike anything world history has ever witnessed or recognized,” would be dire. “[W]e shall not have any coarse [sic] but armed revolution should we fail with the power of the vote in November,” McPhee writes. “This Republic cannot survive for 4 more years underneath this political socialist ideologue.” A disclaimer at the bottom of the publication apparently attempts to account for this type of rhetoric, noting that the contributors do “not reflect the opinion of the Republican Party whole or in part” and are only representative of the “individual” — in this case, the editor himself. It’s crazy how reckless these people get. Armed revolution? This guy is on that treason isht right now. He needs a ho sit down. Source

REVIEW: Project X, a Todd Phillips Production™, Made for Those Who Find the Hangover Franchise Too Sophisticated

I’m pretty sure I ruined the night of a pair teenage boys huddled in the back row of a recent screening of Project X , a party disaster movie targeted at kids who find the Hangover franchise too sophisticated. All I did was sit down beside them, but I may as well have poked my head up into their treehouse. Girls ruin everything, especially the unmitigated enjoyment of a new Todd Phillips movie. A few seconds after the lights when down, as a shrill junior impresario named Costa (Oliver Cooper) started shouting 2 Live Crew lyrics about wanting pussy, the one beside me began twisting in an agony I came to enjoy much more than the movie we were watching. Costa is not a complicated man. 2 Live Crew could actually do much of his speaking for him. This is hilariously ironic because Costa is a schlubby white kid who wears sweater vests and hangs out with two equally mollusk-like pals, JB (Jonathan Daniel Brown) and Thomas (Thomas Mann). The script, by Michael Bacall and Matt Drake, has enough “bitches” and “faggots” and midgets tossed into ovens to scandalize everybody, which seemed to be their best hope. When Project X begins Thomas’s parents are about to go away for the weekend to celebrate their anniversary, which also happens to be Thomas’s 17th birthday. Costa is pushing for a party, the big social event that will turn them into “big time players” at school. Oh, there’s also Dax (Dax Flame), the kid who is documenting everything that happens. A note prefacing the movie (“Warner Bros. would like to thank everyone who contributed footage…”) makes it clear that this will be another found footage exercise. After first drawing attention to the conceit, first-time director Nima Nourizadeh (Phillips is the producer and Project X is heavily branded with his name) lets it fade into the background. Especially once the party gets started, the ratio of intrepid, conceit-driven camerawork to slick video montages of booty-shorts bacchanalia is far enough out of whack that you wonder why they bothered with the construct in the first place. Phillips got his start in documentary, notably Frat House , the 1998 exposé of fraternity life. Young Dax Flame, whom we glimpse once in a mirror shot, became a YouTube star by documenting his high school life in Texas. But Project X is not interested in showing us what it’s “really” like when a high school party goes nuclear. Like The Blair Witch Project and the recent Chronicle , it wants to apply the terms of found footage realism to an established genre. Although it behaves as if its closest antecedent is a John Hughes teen movie, Project X plays more like a blend of music video, College Rules-style porn, and apocalypse-gazing. It’s all hyper-sensory flash and amateur titillation, ain’t it cool party-dogging and an ecstatic taxonomy of all the different ways you can drink a beer. Thomas, long, pale and apprehensive, does have a certain Alan Ruck vibe. And his father is quite protective of his fancy car. But further comparisons to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off will only make you want to cry. Over a thousand people show up at Thomas’s very swanky Pasadena house, and at every step his better judgment is overruled by the promise of popularity. A gorgeous neighborhood friend (Kirby Bliss Blanton) seems receptive, but Thomas is steered — by Costa, who only gets more pointlessly awful as the night goes on — to think more like a social climber, and go for the girl with the most cachet. Of course that girl, like all of the others, will remove her clothes more or less on command. Project X threatens to become slightly interesting just as the party enters a death spin and Thomas takes his first hit of ecstasy. Anyone who has thrown a bender while mom and dad were away and gotten in over his head knows the consequences really do feel like the end of the world. But the pitch of this amazingly fatuous, tediously low-toned, aggressively sensational movie is too erratic for the “I’m famous, bitch!” nihilism of the finale to touch on anything real. It’s just an adjustment of the volume in a movie that manages to look and feel as well as sound like endless noise. Follow Michelle Orange on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .
