Really??? What’s wrong with at Glock? Female Pro-Gun Activist Say Mothers Need Assault Weapons To Protect Children Via HuffingtonPost Lawyer and gun rights supporter activist Gayle Trotter gave vivid testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee at a Wednesday hearing on gun violence. Trotter, a senior fellow at the conservative Independent Women’s Forum, argued that a proposed ban on assault weapons would “disarm” vulnerable women and “put them at a severe disadvantage” in fights with multiple criminals. Trotter painted a picture of mothers under assault in their homes, and when Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) questioned the details of one example she offered, she told the lawmaker he didn’t understand the issue. “You are a large man, tall man, a tall man,” Trotter said to laughter from the audience. “You are not a young mother who has a young child with her and … you cannot understand. You are not a woman stuck in her house, not able to defend her children, not able to leave her child, not able to go seek safety, on the phone with 911,” Trotter said. And that woman, “she’s not used to being in a firefight.” Despite arguing for serious firepower, Trotter said later the most important thing about assault weapons for women’s defense is the way the guns look. “An assault weapon in the hands of a young woman defending her babies in her home becomes a defense weapon,” said Trotter, a mother of six. “And the peace of mind she has … knowing she has a scary-looking gun gives her more courage when she’s fighting hardened violent criminals.” Sorry lady, but we just can’t buy that you will be unable to protect your children with a 10-shot pistol as opposed to an AK-47. Are any of you ladies offended at how helpless this broad portrays you to be? Image via Shutterstock
This dude just keeps gettin’ crazier every day ! Via The Huffington Post : Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh criticized President Barack Obama Thursday for going on vacation, calling his return to Hawaii after the fiscal cliff showdown a “slap in the face.” “[Democrats] are secretly throwing parties over this [fiscal cliff deal,]” Limbaugh said on his radio show. “Obama is! He’s doing pep rallies. Obama went back to Hawaii to finish the vacation. That’s another slap in the face, by the way. He gets back on Air Force One as soon as the Republicans caved.” The Obama family arrived in Hawaii December 22 for their annual Christmas vacation. The president returned to Washington — with First Dog Bo in tow — on December 27 to resume efforts to pass a fiscal cliff deal. After a deal was passed on New Year’s Day, Obama returned to Hawaii to resume his vacation. Obama signed the American Taxpayer Relief Act into law using an autopen, a mechanical device that copies his signature. While the whole ‘Fiscal Cliff’ deal is a bit shady, you can’t knock the guy for going on vacation twice a year. Sh*t…we’d take one if we could! Images via tumblr
Former Saturday Night Live star and conservative activist Victoria Jackson has made a series of controversial comments in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School murders. She harshly criticized President Barack Obama, which is hardly surprising, but her comments on killer Adam Lanza raised eyebrows – even by Jackson standards. Of the Newtown, Conn., shooting, Jackson posted on Facebook, quoting a friend: “Wasn’t the Connecticut killer just doing what abortionists do every day?” “It’s a wonder we don’t have more 20-year-old ‘dads’ doing what women and doctors have been an accomplice to for years. When you forget the TEN COMMANDMENTS, THIS is what you get’.” While one outraged person said that Jackson should have to “go before all of the families that lost loved ones” with her views, that didn’t stop her for a second. The Tea Party supporter went on to criticize President Barack Obama, claiming his pro-choice views are tantamount to mass murder along Lanza’s lines. Jackson wrote: “Obama dramatically wiped a tear as he said, ‘The majority of those who died today were children – beautiful little kids … They had their entire lives ahead of them.” “YEAH OBAMA. SAME AS THE MILLION BABIES YOU HAD ABORTED THIS YEAR IN AMERICA. ARE YOU CRYING FOR THEM?!” Jackson, who describes herself as being “an outspoken activist for the conservative movement,” on Facebook, may be understating the outspoken part. In President Obama’s Newtown speech last night, he called for America to ask “hard questions” about itself and whether we are doing all we can to care for our children. No response yet from Victoria, but you can bet it won’t be a measured one.
Finally, a Republican stands up to Robney’s ludicrous bull after he blames Barack’s win on “Obamacare Supporters”. According to Boston News : Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a rising Republican star who stumped for Mitt Romney repeatedly on the campaign trail, assailed the failed presidential candidate for his remarks to donors on Wednesday that President Obama was reelected because of “gifts” to minorities, young people, and women. “I think that’s absolutely wrong,” Jindal said later Wednesday at a news conference in Las Vegas at a meeting of the Republican Governors Association. “We have got to stop dividing the American voters. We need to go after 100 percent of the votes, not 53 percent.“ Jindal’s reference to 53 percent was a criticism of Romney’s secretly recorded statement at a Florida fund-raiser in May that 47 percent of Americans are dependent on government assistance and do not take personal responsibility for their lives. The Louisiana governor, an Indian-American who is considered a potential presidential candidate in 2016, said that Republicans “need to continue to show how our policies help every voter out there achieve the American Dream, which is to be in the middle class, which is to be able to give their children an opportunity to be able to get a great education.” He added, “I absolutely reject that notion, that description” of Obama’s winning strategy, which Romney made in a conference call that reporters heard. “I think that’s absolutely wrong.” The election, Jindal said, showed that “if we’re going to continue to be a competitive party and win elections on the national stage and continue to fight for our conservative principles, we need two messages to get out loudly and clearly: One, we are fighting for 100 percent of the votes, and secondly, our policies benefit every American who wants to pursue the American dream. Period. No exceptions.” The criticism from Jindal, who is the incoming president of the GOP governors association, was echoed by Republican Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin, who was sitting with Jindal on a panel when the Louisiana chief executive made his comments. The Republican Party is not “just for people who are currently not dependent on the government,” Walker told CNN. “It’s for all Americans.” Let it go Mitt. Just let it go. Images via WENN
Well, you have one person on your side, Donald Trump. But it’s someone the world may hate even more than you these days. Ann Coulter – who is facing criticism from all sides for referring to Barack Obama as a retard – appeared on Hannity last night and was asked about The Donald’s pledge to give $5 million to charity in exchange for the President’s full college transcripts. “I love it,” the conservative commentator said. “[Republicans] need somebody like Donald Trump on our side.” Do you agree? Conservative pundit Ann Coulter has responded to Monday’s debate by calling President Barack Obama a “retard,” possibly hitting a new low, even for Ann Coulter. Following Mitt Romney’s gentler-than-usual performance during the third presidential debate , Coulter posted the following message to her Twitter followers: Interesting that she went that route instead of weighing in on any actual issues, but that’s Ann Coulter for you … whether you’re a big fan or can’t stand her. Woman does not hold back, and loves to stir the pot. Did she go too far with her word choice this time, though? And did Romney really take it easy on Obama? Or did he get taken to school on foreign policy? You be the judge. Who won the final presidential debate of 2012? Obama Romney View Poll » Who should be elected on November 6? Before Twilight and even before Kristen Stewart was first approached to be in On The Road by Brazilian-born director Walter Salles, the young actress read the Jack Kerouac novel for school. She told Movieline that she picked up the book because it was an assignment given, but her experience with the now American classic evolved. “I found the book fun,” she said. But after reading and studying it more, it became much more compelling and taught her personal life lessons about growing up, making choices and dealing with inhibitions. She also emphasized that while she played the comparatively wild Marylou, she does not judge her uninhibited character. [ PHOTOS: Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, and Kirsten Dunst Go ‘On The Road’ in Toronto ] “I learned through the book that you really have a choice about who you surround yourself with. [As a young adult] you realize you can choose who you’re surrounding yourself with,” Stewart told ML in Toronto where On The Road debuted over the weekend. “Up until that point you’re really circumstantially with your family or whatever but at some point you can ‘choose’ your family. “I have a great family by the way, but you need to find people who can pull something out from you that might be otherwise unseen. And when I read the book, I thought, ‘Gosh I need to find people like that.’ I’m definitely not the Marylou type. But as I continued reading it as I got older, the weight of it started to mean something more.” In the film version of the book, Stewart plays Marylou who was first married to, then divorced from, and ultimately a lifelong companion/lover/fellow free spirit to Dean Moriarty. The story centers on Dean (based in real life on Neal Cassady) who meets up with close friend Sal (writer Jack Kerouac’s own stand-in) as the two travel across the U.S. as well as into Canada and Mexico. Like Dean, Marylou is anything but monogamous and she dabbles in pleasures that are alien to the wholesome fun of the prevailing culture of the conservative 1950s. Stewart and the rest of the cast, including Garrett Hedlund (Dean), Sam Riley (Sal) and Kristen Dunst (Camille), met and spoke with relatives of the real-life characters they played in addition to other research before embarking on On The Road . Stewart said that she didn’t want to simply approach Marylou as a rebellious young woman with loose morals, but explained that while she gained understanding of her, she remained, to some degree at least, an enigmatic figure. “To play a part like Marylou, she’s very vivid and colorful but also on the periphery,” said Stewart. “You don’t know her heart and head and the how and why she does what she does. By the time that it came to film, I didn’t want to play her simply as this character that is just a wild and sexy girl. With the research we were able to do, applying the whys and getting to know the people behind the characters makes you think about the book differently.” Stewart continued, “It’s not easy to live a life like that and that’s what makes these people remarkable. I did always wonder how she could take it. How deep is that well? How much can you have taken from you? What I found about her is, that uniquely to her — and not to the time she lived in — was her capacity to see through people’s flaws and see past them, which was unbelievable. She was just such a wonderful woman. She was infectious. And, no, I did not judge her.” Kristen Stewart appeared at some moments very pensive and at other moments playful in describing her role and unusually long attachment to On The Road . The period coincided with being catapulted to the height of fame through the Twilight franchise, which morphed into zealous attention from so-called Twi-hards who lived vicariously through her and her equally lauded co-star and real-life boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. And as the world now well knows, that relationship hit the skids in the glare of legions of fans through an onslaught of media spectacle . Just weeks after the tidal wave of attention, Stewart bravely faced media for On The Road , though handlers were clear before assigning interview time — the subject needed to remain “on topic.” Still, Stewart talked about herself personally, saying that the experience she had with On The Road had provided her some life lessons both professionally as an actor and also as an individual. “If this has taught me anything, it’s just that if you stop thinking and just breathe through it, you’re such a better actor. You just have to do the work initially and then trust that you’ve already done that work and not get too analytical. You have to trust that you’ve already completed that effort,” she said. And beyond the work, Stewart said she now has more confidence to say what she thinks with less fear than in her earlier years. “It’s opened me in a way that’s probably more appropriate to my age. I think I’m a bit less inhibited, and not thinking too much before speaking. It’s not about being shameful, I’m just a bit more unabashedly myself because of this thing, and it probably started at age 15. I can be around people and say what I think without fear.” Previously: Kristen Stewart Talks ‘Hard Love’ In Toronto For On The Road Read more from the Toronto Film Festival. Man, the puns just write themselves on this one. You’ve seen Indian-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone covered in Jism before, but not quite like this. Sunny returned to the motherland for a shot at Bollywood stardom in Jism 2 , which is supposedly some sort of thriller but looks more like series of excuses to show Sunny in a bikini combined with sappy Bollywood musical numbers . Sunny’s casting caused an uproar on the conservative subcontinent, where onscreen nudity is almost unheard of and the production of pornography is banned. So although there’s no actual nudity in the film, 628 million horny Indian men translated into a strong opening weekend for Jism 2 in India. But its long-term prospects appear flaccid as word-of-mouth caused a sharp decline in ticket sales after its opening weekend and it flopped miserably overseas. Twitch Film ‘s Charlie Hobbs, one of a handful of overseas critics to review the film, says: ” Even with an actual porn star in the cast, they couldn’t manage to make the sex scenes very sexy. Everyone looks really good semi-clothed, but no one seems comfortable at all, even Leone looks like she’s out of her element…This kind of film helped me transition from a boy to a man in the ’90s, thanks to the loving embrace of Skinemax, but those films were able to actually deliver on their promise enough to leave their audience satisfied. Jism 2 doesn’t, won’t, or can’t. Whatever the excuse, it adds up to failure. ” And Anupama Chopra of the English-language Hindustan Times (reprinted in the New York Daily News ), simply says ” For an erotic film, everyone talks way too much. ” Talk about a limp reception.
