Michele Bachmann Drops Out of Presidential Race

Republican Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann formally ended her campaign for the White House this morning, just one day after Mitt Romney’s Iowa caucus victory . “Last night, the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice. And I have decided to stand aside,” the GOP Congresswoman from Minnesota told reporters today. They spoke, indeed, dealing her a disappointing sixth-place finish. The Queen of Rage could not become The Queen of Votes . Despite Bachmann’s extensive tour to visit all 99 of Iowa’s counties, her August straw poll win, and the state being her place of birth, she garnered just five percent. Her communications director Alice Stewart told reporters following the news conference that conversations began last night about whether to continue the campaign. The congresswoman asked for time to “sleep on it” and “pray about it.” Stewart said she was awoken early Wednesday morning with the news that Michele was out. Bachmann has not yet discussed whether she will seek reelection to her U.S. House seat in Minnesota, Stewart said, or whether she will endorse another candidate. Also unclear if last night’s second-place finisher will reach out to her supporters with the following tagline: Rick Santorum: Conservative Like Bachmann, But Less Crazy!

Back At It: Crazy Old Pat Robertson Says God Does Not Support Barack Obama Because The President Is Racist

SMH, Conservative Slander Season continues. During an episode of The 700 Club, Pat Roberston revealed to his viewers that he had an extensive conversation with God about the 2012 presidential election. And Roberstson says that God told him who would be in the White House come February of next year. And apparently, the homie G-O-D wants NO PARTS of Barack Obama. According to Robertson, God doesn’t support President Barack Obama’s agenda and says that only “overwhelming prayer” can bring a new leader who will stop the country from “disintegrating”: Your country will be torn apart by internal stress. A house divided cannot stand. Your president holds a radical view of the direction of your country which is at odds with the majority. Expect chaos and paralysis. Your president holds a view which is at the odds with the majority — it’s a radical view of the future of this country, and so that’s why we’re having this division. This is a spiritual battle which can only be won by overwhelming prayer. The future of the world is at stake because if America falls, there’s no longer a strong champion of freedom and a champion of the oppressed of the world. There must be an urgent call to prayer. What sir? On Tuesday, however, Robertson said that God told him the nation’s downfall would be triggered by an economic collapse. He suggested that God told him this would come about if Obama was elected to another term. “And God said, this is not my judgment, they are bringing it upon themselves,” Robertson explained And yes. He is serious. Source

Iowa Caucus: Newt Gingrich Supporter Stands By Her Man

‘I think he can beat Barack Obama,’ 21-year-old tells MTV News. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Andrew Jenks Newt Gingrich meets with supporters in Iowa Photo: Andrew Burton/Getty Images URBANDALE, IOWA — With just hours to go before Iowa voters go to caucus , even as Newt Gingrich’s poll numbers slipped from their former lofty perch to fourth place, one of his most-fervent campaign staffers told MTV News on Monday that she’s blocking it out and keeping her eye on the prize. “I don’t pay a lot of attention to those polls. … I like to focus on the goal to the very end,” said Myranda Kazos, an energetic political pixie who has moved into a hotel room in Des Moines and put her life on hold in order to help Gingrich finish strong in Iowa. “I’m here to work and do the very best I can.” Kazos, 21, plans to take her LSAT exam soon, but in the meantime, she said she’s logging 18-hour days working for the Gingrich campaign. Her hoarse voice is a testament to the handful of all-nighters she’s pulled, as well as all-in days during which the self-described Newt obsessive has made more than 900 calls to voters in an attempt to lock in their vote. The history and political science major at the University of South Dakota first got involved in politics in 2006 and has been a proud conservative booster ever since. In fact, though she can’t caucus again this year because she’s a South Dakota resident, she has some strong reasons for coming out for Gingrich. “I think he can beat Barack Obama,” she said confidently, bucking the trend of the 41 percent of Iowa voters who were reportedly undecided as the big day loomed, according to a poll released Monday. “I think he has the r

Kris Humphries Held to Six Rebounds in Blowout Loss

Kris Humphries and the New Jersey Nets made their home debut against the Atlanta Hawks last night, and Kim Kardashian’s ex was greeted with loud applause from the sellout crowd. But he and his teammates gave the crowd little to cheer about after the opening buzzer. The Hawks blew the Nets off the floor, winning by a final of 106-70 – quite the contrast for New Jersey from the night before – and holding last year’s fifth-leading NBA rebounder to just six boards. Granted, he sat out most of the second half. Kris Humphries, Nets Crushed by Hawks Through two games, Humphries’ stats look like this:

Newt Gingrich Ad Rails Against "Liberal" Republican Establishment, Laments Lack of Funds

A new pro-Newt Gingrich ad airing in Iowa warns voters in advance of the Jan. 3 caucuses not to let the “liberal Republican establishment pick” a presidential candidate. The ad is from pro-Gingrich super PAC Winning Our Future, which can spend unlimited funds as long as it doesn’t coordinate with him directly. That’s not shady at all. The 30-second spot touts Newt’s conservative credentials, accusing the Republican establishment of “attacking him with falsehoods” and outspending him 20-to-1. Newt Gingrich 20-to-1 Ad Pretty funny in a way that a PAC that would obviously outspend Mitt Romney 20-to-1 if it could is lamenting its own underfunded status, but that’s Newt for you. On the flip side, he does have a point. The establishment does have some clout, but given the fluidity of this race, the conservative base is much broader. Obviously the average voter isn’t too swayed by what the powers that be tell them to be. But will voters come out to support Newt, or is he fading fast?

Joe Bodolai, Former SNL Writer, Dies at 63

Former Saturday Night Live staff writer Joe Bodolai has died in an apparent suicide. His body was discovered yesterday by a cleaning crew at an L.A. hotel. Law enforcement sources say Bodolai, who wrote several Wayne’s World sketches for SNL as well as the movie, had been staying there more than a week. A mixture of anti-freeze and Gatorade may have done him in, TMZ reports. Classic Wayne’s World Sketch Bodolai also had posted what appears to be a suicide note on December 23 on his blog, titled, “If This Was Your Last Day Alive What Would You Do?” He goes on to describe some of the things he remembers, and laments. In the note, Bodolai writes about “Stuff I Would Like to Have Seen In My Life” such as the Browns winning the Super Bowl and the “truth” about JFK. The 63-year-old also lists “Things I Regret” such as “My inability to conquer alcoholism” followed by “The things I did because of it.” Very sad. He also lists “Things I Am Proud Of” – family members, his time as an SNL staff writer and “writing the first draft of Wayne’s World with Mike Myers.” Bodolai concludes his apparent sign-off to the world with this: “May you all have the happy lives you deserve. Thank you all for being in my life.”
