Read the Winning 10-Word Review in Movieline’s John Cusack Raven Premiere Contest

Movieline received many varied submissions in our John Cusack -themed 10-word review contest , inspired by films from Say Anything… to Grosse Pointe Blank to Bullets Over Broadway and beyond. “Alas!” quoth the raven. “There can only be one winner!” (That’s how the old Edgar Allan Poe saying goes, right?) Hit the jump to read the winning submission and congratulate the lucky Movieliner that gets to attend the L.A. premiere of Cusack’s The Raven next week. Hearty kudos go to Movieline reader Jen Austin, whose 10-word review of 1997’s action opus Con Air was truly inspired: “After Cameron Crowe, before Poe, Cusack brilliantly rescued Cameron Poe.” Slow clap, Jen. Enjoy the Raven premiere and after party, and receive extra bonus high fives if you find Cusack and recite your poetic entry to him!

Pen a 10-Word John Cusack Review, Win Tickets to the Premiere of The Raven

John Cusack dives into the twisted psyche of 19th century author Edgar Allan Poe in this week’s The Raven , a fictional adventure-mystery that blends the writer’s real life with the kind of dark, macabre tales he wove — and Movieline has your chance to catch it before it opens on April 27! More on The Raven , in theaters April 27: The macabre and lurid tales of Edgar Allan Poe are vividly brought to life – and death – in this stylish, gothic thriller starring John Cusack as the infamous author. When a madman begins committing horrific murders inspired by Poe’s darkest works, a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) joins forces with Poe in a quest to get inside the killer’s mind in order to stop him from making every one of Poe’s brutal stories a blood chilling reality. A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues, which escalates when Poe’s love (Alice Eve, She’s Out of My League) becomes the next target. Intrepid Pictures’ The Raven also stars Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster). Follow Movieline on Twitter .

My name is Pilar and my sister’s name is Martina. We are…

My name is Pilar and my sister’s name is Martina. We are from Argentina and we met Justin at a meet & greet, saw him at the Miami International Airport and met him again outside of the recording studio in Miami. I won the meet and greet by sending text messages and answering multiple choice questions, it was the happiest day of my life! Here is the link to the interview they made me. It was on October 12th when Justin did his very FIRST concert in Argentina , I met him that day with a group of girls that also had won other contests. When we went backstage to meet Justin, I could see girls screaming and crying so hard because they had seen him. My sister and I were so nervous we couldn’t even breathe. As I got closer to the room that Justin was in, I could hear my heart beat really really fast. My sister was in the same situation as I was. It was our turn to take the picture when I heard Justin say, “Hey”. A couple of girls hugged him, my sister did too, and I was last! As I leaned for a hug, he was looking at me while I was looking at him. We took the picture and immediately we had to leave. As we were walking out the door we said, “I love you” and he replied with “Gracias gracias” , according to Martina he said, “me too”. We will never forget that day! It was Incredible! On January 29th, 2012 we arrived to Miami with our family. We were at customs answering the police’s questions when all of the sudden I see Justin Bieber with Alfredo Flores literally 2 meters away from us! I quickly said JUSTIN BIEBER, and Martina was shaking! We waved at him and he waved back. Unfortunately, we could’t take any pictures because we were at customs, and pictures aren’t allowed. As we were grabbing the luggage, Martina went to ask the paparazzis if they were there because of Justin, so finally we did an interview. They asked questions like how did we feel when we saw him, did we wave at him, etc. That was THE BEST way to start our year! On February 2nd 2012, we saw on Twitter that Justin could be in different studios in Miami Beach, so we chose one from the bunch and he was in the one we had chosen! It was really late at night, when we got to the recording studio we made some friends there. We asked them if Justin had come outside, and they said, “Yeah, but like half an hour ago”, so we waited and waited and waited! We screamed at everyone who came out of the studio without knowing who they were! Lil Twist, Lil Wayne, Timbaland, Mike Posner, JUSTIN BIEBER, everyone was there! Justin came out a few times just to skate and relax. Alfredo came out one time, and he asked to some girls what were their twitters. I told him mine. Justin couldn’t take a picture with us because of paparazzi, he didn’t want them to be there. We told paparazzi to leave and they finally left. We waited some more and finally Justin came out to skate! My sister and I told him that we were from Argentina and he answered, “Really? Argentina?” and we were like “Yeaaah!” He was really surprised! We recorded some things on tape, and asked Justin some questions and it felt like we were talking to a friend . We spent a lot of time with him (definitely more time than the m&g). Justin grabbed our hands TWO times while staring at us! He asked if we wanted to take some pictures and we all said, “YES”. Alfredo Flores grabbed our camera to take the picture! IT WAS AMAZING! We will never forget our whole Bieber experience! We saw him THREE times in LESS then a year, and we’re hoping to see him again! Here is our video of Justin talking to us, skating, grabbing our hands, etc. As Justin always says, never say never. – @PilarIrigoyen @martinairigoyen Here is the video of us at the studio in Miami, talking to Justin, watching him skateboard and him grabbing my hand!  More here: My name is Pilar and my sister’s name is Martina. Mitt Romney Scores Another Win In Nevada Caucus

Ron Paul comes in third in latest GOP contest. By Gil Kaufman Mitt Romney Photo: Joe Raedle/ Getty Images Just four days after notching his most convincing win of the primary season so far, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney made it two in a row by taking Saturday night’s Republican caucus in Nevada with 47.6 percent of the vote. In a season where three different candidates have won the first four contests, that gives Romney the distinction of being the first to grab two consecutive wins. “This is not the first time you’ve given me your vote of confidence, and this time I’m going to take it to the White House,” a clearly excited Romney said at a victory speech, where he once again turned his attention away from his Republican opponents and on President Obama. Unlike Florida, where Representative Ron Paul didn’t compete in order to focus on Nevada and other upcoming states, and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum was forced to suspend his campaigning to deal with a sick child, all four remaining candidates worked the road in the first Western contest of the season. After coming in 14 points behind Romney in Florida, Newt Gingrich was hoping for a solid comeback but could not rely on a strong debate performance, as there was not one in advance of the latest battle. On Saturday night he finished well behind Romney, rolling up just 22.7 percent of the vote (with 71 percent of precincts reporting at press time). While Romney took to the stage in a room full of cheering supporters, the Gingrich headquarters was a stark contrast, an empty room where the former House Speaker spoke to reporters via television. “I am a candidate for president of the United States,” Gingrich said. “I will be the candidate of the president of the United States.” Romney won Nevada handily in 2008, taking 51 percent of the vote because his rivals in the last GOP primary race basically let him run unopposed assuming the state’s large Mormon population would ensure Romney — who is Mormon — a win. Though Mormons only account for 7 percent of the state’s population (around 180,000), they are rabid voters and reliably make up one-quarter of Republican caucus-goers. But it wasn’t it as clear-cut this time. Even Santorum, who has moved to the back of the pack since his recount win in Iowa a month ago, put up a strong battle, though he ended up in fourth place with just 11.1 percent. And Paul, who was counting on the state’s vocal Tea Party contingent and independent voters to come out for him, had a decent showing in third place with 18.6 percent. As he did in Florida, Romney came in with a much bigger ground game than the rest of the field, a record of visiting the state often over the past year-and-a-half and, for what it’s worth, the endorsement of real-estate mogul and once-potential candidate Donald Trump. Regardless of the results, unlike winner-take-all Florida, no actual delegates will be awarded following the Nevada caucus. As in Iowa, delegates will be elected to go to the county convention and then to a state gathering, who will then decide where the state’s 34 delegates go to the GOP convention in Tampa. It’s possible the delegates who go to Florida in late August may not reflect the final results of Saturday’s vote. Voting also began Saturday in Maine’s caucus, whose vote will take place over the next week. More voters go to the polls on Tuesday, when Colorado and Minnesota also caucus.
