Jane Fonda is a remarkable woman. From her support to the civil rights movement in the 1960s to her involvement with several feminists causes to, let’s be real, her iconic workout videos, she’s been an inspiration to many. And in this new interview with the also amazing Brie Larson , Jane is really just taking our appreciation of her to an entire new level. Jane, who turns 80 this year, kicked things off by giving some real talk about feminism — particularly about the struggles of growing up as a woman so many years ago. “I grew up in the ’50s,” she explains, “and it took me a long time to apply feminism to my life. The men in my life were wonderful, but victims of a [patriarchal] belief system. I felt diminished.” She says that the first time she truly felt she was a feminist was when she saw Eve Ensler do a performance of The Vagina Monologues — which would have been in the mid 90s at the earliest. “It took a long time” for her to call herself a feminist though, “because I was brought up with the disease to please.” She went on to say, and this is where things really take an intense turn, that “To show you the extent to which a patriarchy takes a toll on females; I’ve been raped, I’ve been sexually abused as a child and I’ve been fired because I wouldn’t sleep with my boss and I always thought it was my fault.” “That I didn’t do or say the right thing.” “I know young girls,” she says, “who’ve been raped and didn’t even know it was rape. They think, ‘It must have been because I said ‘no’ the wrong way.'” “One of the great things the women’s movement has done is to make us realize that [rape and abuse] is not our fault. We were violated and it’s not right.” This is the first time Jane’s ever publicly said that she’s been raped — after so many years of speaking up for women’s rights , it must have taken a lot for her to share this. It’s not the only thing she shared though. She also discussed her controversial opposition to the Vietnam War. “I didn’t become an activist until I was 31,” she says. “When I found out what was really happening in Vietnam I didn’t care if I ever worked again; I considered leaving the business to become a full-time activist.” She recalls that “My father was terrified for me. He remembered the ’50s when people’s careers were destroyed.” Jane even adds that, with Trump as president, “It’s possible the [Hollywood] blacklist will be brought back.” And on the topic of Trump, she says that there are many battles to be fought, including but certainly not limited to the fight against defunding Planned Parenthood . About being an activist for so many years, she says “Honey, I am almost 80 years old. If you want to make it to the long-haul, you have to take care of yourself.” “I get more than eight hours sleep every night; I meditate twice a day for half an hour; I eat right; I workout.” “I always tell activists: ‘This is going to be a long struggle. We have to stay strong.” Yes, Jane Fonda. Just … yes. View Slideshow: 19 Celebrities Who Were Victims of Domestic Abuse

Donald Trump has been president for 18 days now, and the impact of his haphazard style of governance and willingness to flout the central tenets of the Constitution can be seen everywhere. But hey, on the bright side … at least the situation has helped Lena Dunham shed some pounds? Yes, the living embodiment of the phrase “born on third, thinks she hit a triple” stopped by the Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show on Monday morning Asked about her recent weight loss, Dunham credited the regime of Commander Baby Fists with inadvertently helping her drop the extra pounds: “Donald Trump became president and I stopped being able to eat food,” she told Stern. “Everyone’s been asking like, ‘What have you been doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight.’” Yes, Lena says she became so distraught since Trump was elected back in November that she basically stopped eating. Tens of millions of Americans have taken issue with Trump’s Muslim ban and other controversial measures, but Dunham’s dislike for the president is both political and personal: “He said I was a B-list actor with no mojo,” she griped to Stern. B-list? Pretty tame by Trump trash talk standards, but it doesn’t take much to wound Lena. This is far from the first time that Dunham has criticized Trump, and she’s been admirably scathing in her assessment of his first weeks in office during her current press tour to promote the sixth and final season of Girls. “All he does is talk about women like they’re objects,” she said at TimesTalks: A Final Farewell to the Cast of Girls. “It doesn’t reclaim our power to talk about him like he’s an object. It doesn’t reclaim our power to insult his physicality.” Obviously, this story has us deeply conflicted. Dunham is right to be so critical of Trump, but at the same time, she’s Lena Dunham. The same Lena Dunham who tried to reach out to women who have had abortions by stating that she wishes she’d had an abortion . The same Lena Dunham who takes to social media to complain about culturally insensitive sushi and guns in Jason Bourne movies . At first, agreeing with Lena on an issue made us feel ill at ease, but then we had an epiphany: Maybe she’s fostering unity by offering us something the whole nation can agree on: No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, everyone can agree that the only appropriate response when Dunham starts talking about the importance of her cellulite is looooong sigh punctuated by an exaggerated eye roll. See? We can still agree on some issues, America. Let’s all thank Lena Dunham for helping us see the light and then go right back to trying to ignore her. At this point, it’s nearly impossible to be surprised by anything Donald Trump says or does. He recently shot down claims that he watched two prostitutes urinate on each other because he’s a germophobe , for example. But while many have come to expect the ridiculous, the false and the infuriating from Trump, they remain peeved and perplexed when faced with everything that surrounds Donald Trump. Like how quiet Republican lawmakers were when Trump slammed Civil Rights icon John Lewis? Sure. But let’s focus more for a moment on how Spencer’s Gifts has chosen to profit off the Trump Presidency. A store known for selling novelty items, Spencer’s may finally have gone too far. Because while a coffee mug that reads “Coffee Makes Me [Poop Emoji]” may be humorous, most sane-minded individuals out there find nothing funny about the following shirts currently on the market: “In case anyone still needed a reason to never walk into a @Spencers again, this is proudly being displayed in the front of their PDX store,” wrote Twitter Mary Numair last week. Yes, the store is actually selling a shirt based on Trump’s admission that he often just grabs women by the pussy , an admission he made on tape back in 2005 when speaking to Billy Bush. Most folks interpreted this remark as an example of sexual assault. But Spencer’s sees it as a marketing opportunity. “He’s done it again,” the official description of this piece of attire reads online. “The Donald grabbed America by the pu$$y this election, now you can too with this hilarious political tee! This laugh out loud Spencer’s exclusive shirt is perfect for reminding everyone that Trump’s in charge.” The item is currently sold-out on the Spencer’s website. Trump will take the oath of office on January 20 with the lowest approval rating of any incoming President in modern political history. But the online reaction to these shirts may be even harsher than the reaction of those who don’t want him to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Focusing specifically on the “Grab America by the Pussy” top, one Twitter user summed up our feelings perfectly. “This tee shouldn’t have made it past the pitch room, @Spencers,” he wrote. “Not a matter of being offended; it’s elevating sex assault as patriotism.” “Sexual assault is not patriotism, @Spencers. It’s not a joke or a slogan. For too many, it’s a lived experience of violation & violence,” wrote another irate American. Some are calling for a boycott of Spencer’s in light of these offensive shirts. Do you think this is the right move? Do you think people have a right to be angry over these items? Or is it all in good fun? And where do these shirts rank in the history of crude articles of clothing? It may surprise you (or it may not surprise you at all), but retailers have gotten in trouble numerous times over the years for similarly offensive piece of attire. If you've been having trouble following the timeline of the divorce between Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin, you're not alone. And if you're still not sure what exactly happened to inspire them to split, well, welcome to the club. We've heard that Kailyn cheated, that Javi cheated, that she got plastic surgery that changed her on the inside as well as on the outside. We've heard that Javi was too controlling, that their relationship was too damaged after her miscarriage to be saved. We've heard that the marriage was over last December, before Javi was even deployed, or that they still might get back together, even now. Basically, it's been such a huge, dramatic mess, and that's the only thing we know for sure. But now that Teen Mom 2 is airing its new season, we're finally able to see some of what actually went down. Get psyched! In this teaser for next week's episode, Kailyn and Javi discuss his homecoming — he was still deployed at this point, but says he'll be home “next month,” so this was probably filmed in June. After their conversation, MTV producers have a series of questions for Kailyn. And though it was back in May that she announced their divorce, it sounds like their marriage isn't over yet:
The stars of Bravo's Real Housewives franchise may not be the most likable group of ladies, but they could certainly be a lot worse. For example, they could be terrorist sympathizers who defect to Syria in order to marry members of ISIS. Sound unlikely? Well it absolutely is – but it's also the premise for a comedy sketch that's drawing mixed responses on social media today. Titled, of course, The Real Housewives of ISIS, the sketch aired on a BBC series called Revolting, and many believe the show fully lived up to its name. Pundits have blasted the sketch as “distasteful,” and with lines like the following, it's not hard to see how it might have rubbed some folks the wrong way: “Only three days to the beheading, and I've no idea what I'm going to wear.” “This is my sixth marriage. I've been widowed five times. [bomb explodes off-camera] Six times.” And – about a character showing off her stylish suicide vest: “She looked massive. You're gonna need a lot of Semtex to kill that one.” The outrage on social media was immediate: “All the fun of an off-base Amy Schumer skit with the same lack of awareness of anything other than itself,” commented one viewer. “Only funny if you look down on someone else and enjoy seeing them unhappy because they are not white and Christian,” wrote another. Others defended the sketch as a shot at deserving target. “If you can mock something, you’re not scared of it,” posted one person. “ISIS want to be feared. Don’t give them that. And yes I’m Muslim, and a leftist. ” Check out the controversial sketch in the clip below to decide for yourself:
