Remember when The Game got a lot of flack for constantly name dropping entertainment and Hip-Hop peers in his raps? Well, Chance The Rapper must’ve not gotten that memo because on the latest segment of The Late Late Show ‘s “Carpool Karaoke” the Grammy Award winner name dropped some big time celebs in-between rocking out with James Corden. When asked what his relationship was like with fellow Chicagoan, the last real American President, Barack Obama, Chance revealed that “I don’t have a number for him but I have a number for him.” He explained “I have a person that I can call that will say “Okay, i’ll have him call you.” Well, that a helluva lot closer to speaking to Obama than anyone of us will ever get. And if you thought Chance’s chances of getting ahold of Jay-Z was any easier, think again. “That’s the same way with Jay-Z. Jay-Z and Barack Obama are very very similar. Both of them have an assistant that you have to call and then you get a call from a private number and it’s either Jay-Z or Barack Obama on the phone. I never know which one it is calling when I get that call back.” We’d settle for a wave from anyone of them in person if anything. Just sayin.’ Check out Chance The Rapper’s “Carpool Karaoke” segment below and enjoy the comedy.
Source: photo: WENN The saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks rings true once again. Snoop Dogg doesn’t understand what the big deal is about his recent appearance. Hot New Hip Hop is reporting that The Doggfather is shrugging off his critics who said his set at a Kansas Basketball game was way too raunchy. The performance in question featured the west coast legend rapping to his hits as he was surrounded by pole dancers, money and fake guns. While he didn’t blink an eye many patrons in attendance and alumni watching at home felt a ways forcing the school to issue a formal apology. It’s actually happening. Snoop Dogg is actually at Allen Fieldhouse #kubball pic.twitter.com/V76w7PyOLa — 580 Sports Talk (@580Sportstalk) October 5, 2019 “We apologize to anyone who was offended by the Snoop Dogg performance at Late Night” said KU’s Athletic Director Jeff Long. “We made it clear to the entertainers’ managers that we expected a clean version of the show and took additional steps to communicate to our fans, including moving the artist to the final act of the evening, to ensure that no basketball activities would be missed if anyone did not want to stay for his show.” Well TMZ caught up with Calvin and he is not letting the criticism kill his vibe. “The audience enjoyed that sh*t,” Snoop said. “I don’t know what the f*ck they talking about.” And he also denies he was escorted out of the facility following the performance. “That’s a motherf**king lie. I had the time of my life. I enjoyed myself, hung out with the basketball teams.” The “Deep Cover” MC went on to theorize that the school had no choice to say sorry. “I think it was more the publicity of what I did. they had to cover it up. And, I respect them, and I wasn’t gonna put no smut on their name and say they did anything wrong because they invited me to come do what I do” he explained. “And, when you pay for Snoop Dogg, you gon’ get Snoop Dogg.” More footage below. Source: VH1 / VH1 Evelyn Lozada’s Basketball Wives Antics For better or worse, this has been the season of Evelyn Lozada . She has been the straw that stirs the drink on Basketball Wives and has been since the season premier a few weeks ago. Since then, she’s brought out lie detector tests, slapped the dust off of her unmentionables, and falling into the bushes. In the last couple of weeks, she has had a feud with OG that has intensified to nuclear levels. Just last week, OG and Evelyn had it out over OchoCinco hopping in the former’s DMs. Then Evelyn filed a whole a$$ restraining order against her rival. Which brings us to the Reunion. In the show, OG had to be sent off to another stage because Evelyn felt “threatened.” Oh. Word? Twitter was FURIOUS about this and called Evelyn out for what they consider hypocrisy. Peep the RUTHLESS dragging. Evelyn went from big bad wolf from the Bronx to a white woman in distress! Talking about OG taunting her with her abuser when she is still messaging same said abuser and same said abuser will be the one who rescue her if she was in danger! #BBWReunion #BasketBallWives pic.twitter.com/O8WzQjMI4H — Glenn CoCo (@MarkDNeal) October 10, 2019

The Hills are alive with the sounds of… … crying. Both of the happy and frustrated variety, we should specify, because Lauren Conrad just welcomed a brand new baby into the world! The former MTV personality confirmed this blessed piece of news herself on Wednesday evening being an adorable drawing of what we presume to be herself, her husband William Tell and their two kids. “Our sweet baby boy, Charlie Wolf Tell, has arrived!” Conrad wrote on Instagram as a caption to the cool image below. The couple is already parents to son Liam James Tell, 2. The Hills alumna initially shared news of her second pregnancy back in April, posting a sweet photo of her bump and writing along with it: “It’s been hard to keep this one to myself! Very excited to share that our family will be getting a little bigger this year.” Conrad, who has remained mostly out of the spotlight ever since the original The Hills went off the air (she plays no role in the much-maligned reboot) married Tell in a September 2014 sunset ceremony at a boutique winery. She mostly makes a living these days in the fashion industry. A decade before tying the knot and shifting her goals, however, an 18-year-old Conrad sky-rocketed to prominence after being cast on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. This reality show chronicled her and her friends’ lives in their hometown of Laguna Beach, California. This series was then spunoff to create The Hills two years later. After it went off the air, though, Conrad really focused on her family life and the fashion world, never even responding to shade hurled her way by former rivals Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. She really does seem far over all that these days. Earlier this year, meanwhile, Lauren opened up about finding her footing when it comes to parenthood. “Feeling like your quote unquote old self, I think takes a really long time,” she said in her Asking For a Friend podcast, adding at the time: “For me, I would argue it took me at least a year to start feeling like normal again.” We’re guessing millions and millions of women can relate to this quote and the sentiment behind it. Thankfully, the ex-reality star has learned to lean on her parents — and her husband’s family. “There is a lot of pressure to do it on your own and I felt that even with all the help I was like, ‘No, I need to do this all by myself,'” Lauren said. “I don’t know when we decided that that was the way it was supposed to be or set that standard because it’s so impossible. When you’re not sleeping, that’s a form of torture! “You’ll literally lose your mind to the point where I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m qualified to watch a baby right now. I don’t know if I should be left along with my child. I haven’t slept in three days. I’m so tired.'” We feel ya, LC. And we’re so very happy for you and William! Congrats on the new addition!

But 97.9 The Beat’s Dee “lilD” Porter’s rise to fame on the radio airwaves was anything but smooth. The Dallas, TX radio personality, who endured poverty and homelessness in her quest for success on the air, has written about her struggle to succeed on the radio in her new memoir, “Route 2,” which is out this week. In it, the Louisiana native and self-proclaimed “Mouth of the South” recalls the three months she spent homeless and working two jobs in order to break into radio. The book, out Oct. 10, includes a forward from “The Breakfast Club” host Charlemagne Tha God and chronicles her grinding for low wages, going hungry and struggling to fill her car with gas for the two hour trip for her part-time radio gig. lilD said she promised herself that if she made it, she would write about her experience to help others. Source: Shutter King Images @shutterkingimages / Shutter King Images @shutterkingimages “It was a Wednesday and I was sitting in that motel room,” lilD recalled in a recent interview with BOSSIP. “I knew I wasn’t going to eat until Friday, and I thought if I make it through this…I realized that so many people are going through a struggle right now. I want them to know that this isn’t the end of the road, it’s the beginning.” lilD said she hopes the book will show readers the real deal about breaking into the radio industry while illustrating that people coming into it can be successful if they are willing to work hard and stick it out. “I want people to get a realistic vibe,” she said. “This industry is very tough. You don’t just come in one day, be a jock and make $80,000.” But “I want them to understand that if you believe in yourself, the risk will pay off.” She also hopes that “Route 2” will help counter the stigma around homelessness. “Your co-workers could be homeless, because I was and nobody knew,” lilD said. “Homelessness isn’t just that you chose to smoke your rent away. Homelessness has a face and it was my face at some point…You never know what’s going on.”

Source: Dia Dipasupil / Getty While promoting her anticipated children’s book, Sulwe , Oscar winner lupita nyong’o dropped some serious nuggets about colorism . When talking to BBC Newsnight on Monday (October 7) about the concept of her book, which centers on a Black girl who has darker skin than her family, Lupita shared her own personal experiences. “I definitely grew up feeling uncomfortable with my skin color because I felt like the world around me awarded lighter skin,” the Black Panther and Little Monsters star told host Emily Maitlis. Adding that said her lighter-skinned younger sister was called “beautiful” and “pretty,’ adding “Self-consciously that translates into: ‘I’m not worthy.’” Most importantly, she stressed that colorism “is the daughter of racism” in “a world that rewards lighter skin over darker skin.” Take a look: While colorism is an extension of racism and white standards of beauty that have been force-fed to us (hence, her being told that she was “too dark” during an audition), Lupita is stating nothing but facts when she says that Black folks have also internalized this hate. “We still ascribe to these notions of Eurocentric standards of beauty, that then affect how we see ourselves among ourselves,” she said. She’s absolutely right because the lens we view ourselves through doesn’t always reflect the reality of our infinite beauty. It’s society’s own initial reception of Lupita’s beauty that truly woke me up to how dangerous and irrational colorism is in our community. Back in 2012, when Lupita first came on the scene playing Patsy in 12 Years A Slave and how instantly inamoured Hollywood became with her—as was I. Whether it was her slaying the red carpet or being named People’s Most Beautiful Person, people couldn’t get enough of this new It-Girl. And yet, while this was happening in the “mainstream” world, it felt as is some Black folks had a different take on her fame. On the blogs, Twitter and Facebook, even the “wokest” folks expressed this fake concern about Lupita being overexposed and worry that she was being eroticized and fetishized by white folks. Even worse, there was this widespread belief that white folks were only praising her beauty (and dark skin) to somehow make fun of Black folks. Quite honestly, it’s pretty damn pathological. When white people praise light-skinned Black women like Beyonce or Tessa Thompson or the countless other beige-looking starlets, we wouldn’t bat an eye or question their motives because light-skinned and racial ambiguity is the standard of beauty. It’s what has been forced down our throats and we accept it. But when that same shine was focused on Lupita, it invoked something in us. It was an internalized disbelief that white folks could never find Lupita beautiful because we didn’t (well y’all, ’cause she’s the baddest woman on the planet to me). It was if her mocha skin and short tight 4c afro should never rock the cover of Vogue because we actually believed it wasn’t worthy because that’s what white folks had been telling us…and believed it. Somehow we were flipping this to say and do everything except admit we were the ones having a problem. Self-hate is a helluva drug. Granted, it’s been years since that all went down and things are slowly getting better, but colorism and disdain for darker-skinned Black women is still as persistent and pervasive as ever. Just look on Twitter, the ‘Gram or any other pocket of Black culture, there are examples of how our darker-skinned sistas are mistreated, ignored and verbally berated for the melanin. Even our favorite Black Hollywood gatekeepers continue to push this narrative by casting mostly lighter-skinned starlets in roles (especially as love interests), pushing out the chocolate sistas who are equally if not more talented. So say what you want, but all of this is happening on our watch by our own hands. While colorism may be the daughter of racism, it’s also the sister of internalized racism. The real question is what are we as Black people going to do to stop it? BEAUTIES: What are your thoughts on colorism in Black America?
