She readily shares her testimony about surviving domestic violence and what that experience did to her psyche. Those experiences have inspired Aguilera to work on behalf of women like herself who have been abused and a great deal of that work took place at The Shade Tree of Las Vegas. Xtina has been donating to their organization for quite some time and last night they honored her with an award and a ceremony that broke the pop star down to tears according to PEOPLE . “It’s just disgusting and it happens far too much to people that we do love,” Aguilera said in a video posted to her Instagram account. “And it is very dear to my heart, because I did grow up in [violence] and I’m a survivor of it — as I’m sure many of you are — and I’m affected by it.” “It’s so important, the work that you put into this,” she added, speaking of the shelter. “That so many volunteers [put into this], and your donations. This past week, I was honored to receive an award from @shadetreevegas, a domestic violence shelter that I donate to….and while I tried so hard not to cry, I ended up balling the whole way through my speech because the statistics of domestic violence in the US are truly horrifying & sad and it’s so important to spread more awareness. .. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the US are affected by domestic violence. Every minute, 20 people are affected by intimate partner violence in the US. That is 10 million a year. .. I remember often having to up and escape in the middle of the night with my mom & little sister, having just the clothes on our backs, to drive cross country for shelter at my grandma’s house. Without that, I would have had to turn to a place like @shadetreevegas for shelter. I have so much respect and adoration for those who give their time and support to hear these victims’ stories and help them regain strength, self empowerment and provide resources for a better independent future. Some aren’t so fortunate to get out….which is why it’s so important to work together to put a stop to these horrific statistics. Moreover, this isn’t just an issue in the US, but happens all over the world, in too many homes!! .. On Tuesday, the multinational corporation was ordered to pay 8 billion dollars in punitive damages after a man reportedly developed female breast tissue from taking one of their antipsychotic drugs. A Philadelphia jury awarded 26-year old Nicholas Murray after his lawyer argued that J&J put “profits over patients” in marketing the drug Risperdal. The Guardian reports: “Johnson & Johnson immediately denounced the award after the jury’s decision in the court of common pleas, saying it was “excessive and unfounded” and vowing immediate action to overturn it.” Johnson & Johnson said in a statement on its website it was confident that the award would be overturned, calling it “grossly disproportionate” with the initial compensatory damage award and “a clear violation of due process”. This isn’t the first time this year that J&J had to pay up. You may recall that back in August, Johnson & Johnson was ordered to pay $572m after a judge in Oklahoma ruled that the company contributed to an opioid epidemic in the state by running a “false and dangerous” sales campaign
I don’t think there is a more overrated celebrity than Margot Robbie…but then I guess there’s Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone and Anna Kendrick who kind of remind us that the highest paid stars are shit. I don’t know how Margot Robbie came into America with her Australian accent she has been very bad at covering up when playing Americans, but I am going to assume it was through other coming into her. She was a nude character in one movie for one scene and then she existed. I am sure girls out there who were the nude girl in movies, or IG are out there trying to figure out what that nude girl was able to become a high earning super star, while they’re still sucking dick for rent, and I guess we can assume that Robbie’s dick sucking was the right dicks sucked. It is the old adage that if you dig for gold for years and years when there is no gold where you’re digging applies. You need to make sure those decisions you’re making are the right ones cuz you can only suck so many dicks at a time, before you choke… I know Hollywood needs the high paid escorts to keep budgets high, so maybe she just lucked into that, it is a timing thing, but neither her looks, or her talent can really carry her, but luckily no one cares about quality, and acting is a myth, it’s just idiots being themselves while being pretentious about it….so she can exist…easy formula / hard nipple… I have facial recognition blindness so I don’t even know if this is even Margot Robbie…. Only this time, the beloved 90s show is put within the Jordan Peele horror context where the dark-skinned Aunt Viv and the light-skinned Aunt Viv become violent adversaries. The trailer was the brainchild of filmmaker Bobby Huntley and Colbie Fray after they met at Sundance Film Festival. “We left Sundance knowing we wanted to work together on something within the near future,” Huntley said, according to Shadow and Act. “A month or so later, I called her late one night and pitched her this idea and without hesitation, she came on board.” Along with Fray’s creative partner Olamma Opparah , the filmmakers fleshed out the idea for the fan-made trailer called Auntie . Then, they produced the movie with a crew made up of mostly Black women, including producers Cassondra “Cassie” Beasley, Kayla Daniels and cinematographer Mya Morton. The description for the plot reads: “ After a long, excruciating stint at a mental facility, Vivian Banks is released. Against strict orders from her psychiatrist, she makes her way back to Bel Air. Only to find her home and family has no recollection of her and every evidence of her existence has been erased. She must find out who was behind the hostile takeover before it is too late to reclaim her family and her home.” The trailer stars Theresa Lang, Letitia Jackson, Nic Starr and Charles Huggins. “Our goal isn’t to pit the two real-life actresses against each,” Huntley said. “They both did an amazing job bringing that character to life in their own unique way. We love every actor and actress affiliated with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Ai r. It’s just human nature to contrast and compare. For people to still debate over 25 years later is really a testament to their talents and longevity. Page Six reports that the “Picasso” rapper will be hosting a blackjack tournament with a $100,000 buy-in at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The proceeds will be for a good cause since the competition is part of the Shawn Carter Foundation gala that goes down the weekend of Nov. 15. The jackpot for the winner is a cool $500,000. If you’re not playing, you can kick in $40,000 for VIP access all weekend. Also reportedly part of the festivities are a black-tie gala, auctions and a concert headlined by Alicia Keys. A look at the Seminole Hard Rock’s website confirms Keys is performing “an intimate one-time-only performance to benefit The Shawn Carter Foundation on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 9:30 p.m.” Sounds like the place to be in November, if you got the coin and clout. The protestor got a little too close for comfort and there was a moment the Queen Bee was set to offer the taper and the fade. TMZ has the rest: Lil Kim wasn’t about to let an anti-fur protester tell her what animals she can and can’t wear … nearly trading blows with the woman before security stepped in. Kim was outside Verizon Media Studios in New York City Tuesday when multiple anti-fur protesters started shouting “Stop wearing fur!” at Kim. One woman got just a little too close for LK’s liking … and that’s when she started walking toward the woman telling her to “back up” several times. Lucky for the protester, Kim’s security stepped in between the two and diffused the situation, ’cause it looked like the rapper was ready to throw down.
