Michael Jackson: Over-Medicated By Other Doctors?

Charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, Dr. Conrad Murray, is expected to launch a defense based on two points: Michael Jackson killed himself with a lethal dose while alone in a room Other doctors were enabling and excessively medicating the star too Point #1 could be tough to establish, but certain items found in the room where MJ tragically died could bolster Murray’s bid to prove the latter. Murray was Jackson’s personal physician until his 2009 death . Evidence in the room suggests certain potent drugs were “prescribed and prepared” for the star to self-medicate, according to new reports . That could be a significant boost for the embattled doc. Lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray will not dispute the L.A. County Coroner’s finding that Michael Jackson died of a massive Propofol overdose. However, his attorneys will present evidence that Michael awoke, then gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol when Murray left the room. Whether evidence found at the late King of Pop’s residence will be used in an attempt to implicate other doctors in MJ’s death is unclear.

Innocent Grandfather Gassed Himself Hours After Child Porn Police Raided His Home

A grandfather gassed himself just hours after child porn police raided his home – even though he was innocent. Last night his widow launched a bitter attack on the police after hearing at an inquest how detectives who seized his computers found nothing illegal. Michael Curtis's home was raided and three laptop computers seized after intelligence led officers to his address after he stumbled upon one indecent picture and viewed it for a matter of seconds. The inquest into his death heard that the 50-year-old amateur photographer gassed himself with fumes from his car just hours after police had executed a warrant at his home. Coroner Nicholas Gardiner was told Thames Valley Police would not have brought any charges against Mr Curtis after finding no evidence on his laptops. The investigation on July 28 was led by Interpol intelligence from Luxembourg after Mr Curtis innocently viewed the picture in March, 2009. His widow Ruth had told the inquest in Oxford: 'It doesn't matter what you write on the death certificate, I know you're going to write down he took his own life but he didn't. His life was taken that morning when those police officers arrived at the house.' The inquest was told that four officers turned up to Mr Curtis's house in Banbury, Oxfordshire, at 9am with a warrant under the Child Exploitation and Welfare Protection Act to seize his computers. Detective Sergeant Howard Berry told the coroner: 'There was no evidence but there was intelligence. Police in Luxembourg traced access to the website to the address. 'A picture had been viewed which was of an illegal nature. Intelligence came to police through international channels. Then there was a decision to investigate further and the warrant was issued.' Mrs Curtis, together with sons Simon and Paul and daughter Jennifer, said after the inquest: 'The police effectively took Mike's life. They may as well have shot him. 'The police when they turned up to the house treated him like he was guilty and treated him exactly like they would a convicted paedophile. 'I don't understand how accidently looking at one single picture for a matter of seconds in March 2009 has filtered down into an investigation in July 2010. 'They must have known he didn't look at any other pictures or visited any other website afterwards. Surely they can come to the conclusion he stumbled upon it? 'He would have been totally shocked by these claims. He would have been thinking about what people would think and what would he tell the people he worked for. 'I want people to know he is innocent and did not do anything wrong.' An hour after police had left the house, Mr Curtis drove to a DIY store and bought piping and wiring before returning home and locking himself in the garage, the inquest heard. Mrs Curtis discovered his body slumped in the driver's seat of his car after she had returned home from work. He had left a note on the passenger seat which read: 'Hi Ruth, sorry, time to go. Of course I love you, Simon, Paul, Jenny, Cerys and Owen. The police have taken the computers.' Mrs Curtis said he left bank account and shares details at the bottom of the note and signed it off with a sketch of the family. Coroner Nicholas Gardiner, recording a verdict of suicide, said: 'Whether or not the warrant was rightly issued is to be taken up elsewhere. Clearly it impacted on Mr Curtis and he had obviously spent time thinking about it and decided to take his own life, and that is how I have to record his death.' added by: toyotabedzrock

Bun B Releases Posthumous Pimp C Record Featuring Drake

‘What Up’ released via Twitter, three years after rapper’s untimely death. By Jayson Rodriguez Bun B and Drake in 2009 Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage Bun B released a new posthumous Pimp C record featuring Drake via Twitter on Thursday night, after the UGK rapper amassed 50,000 followers on the social media network. The track, “What Up,” also features Bun B and was produced by Drake collaborator Boi-1da (“Best I Ever Had,” “Forever”). The song will be the first single from the late rapper’s final solo offering, The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones , due October 5. “Now ’cause they empty, I’m just greedy for some more/ I need some more dough, I’m a p-i-m-p, for sure,” Pimp C raps. Pimp C passed three years ago , in December 2007, after an accidental drug overdose , according to the coroner’s report. Bun B has carried the UGK torch since his rhyme partner’s passing and has collaborated with a host of artists, including Drake, who often pay homage to the Port Arthur duo’s legacy. “What up Bun, my n—a, you know we stay down/ And I’m an honorary member of UGK town,” Drake raps during the song’s first verse. “To be honest, I was Drake,” Bun B told Vibe magazine earlier this year about his buzz at the onset of his career. Bun recently told MTV News he’s hoping to shoot a video for his own Drake collaboration, “Put It Down,” from his latest effort, Trill OG. “It’s very hard to live up to the hype the people create for things nowadays; luckily, this song did,” Bun said of the track. ” ‘Cause a lot of times, people build something up, and it’s almost impossible to match up to that. In this case, it matched up to it. And the fact that the other song, ‘It’s Been a Pleasure,’ is on it as well, you get two for two. It’s always a good thing when me and the young boy get together. It’s special music. That’s how I feel, and I think that’s how Drizzy feels.” Related Artists Drake

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray’s Trial Set For January

Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images More than a year after Michael Jackson’s death , the pop icon’s former personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was in court Monday (August 23) where a judge finally set a preliminary date of January 4, 2011, in the cardiologist’s involuntary-manslaughter trial . TMZ reported that Murray’s legal team won a request to get a fluid sample from Jackson as part of their defense strategy questioning the accuracy of levels of the surgical anesthetic propofol found in Jackson’s body. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office determined that Jackson, 50, died as a result of acute propofol intoxication. Murray has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and has admitted to giving Jackson propofol, a strong anesthetic usually used during surgery but allegedly employed by chronic insomniac Jackson as a sleep aid. Murray’s lawyers have said the physician did not administer any drugs that “should have” caused Jackson’s death. The investigation into his death was equally lengthy, lasting more than eight months, after which Los Angeles prosecutors charged that Murray gave the King of Pop a lethal combination of propofol and other painkillers and sedatives in the hours before the singer was found dead in his rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted. After hearing from both sides in the case at the January court date, the judge, Michael Pastor, will determine if there is enough evidence to mount a full trial. Jackson’s mother and father, Katherine and Joseph, were in court on Monday, according to Radar Online , sitting in the front row as Judge Pastor set the preliminary hearing date. Pastor granted a protective order covering all evidence in the criminal case, meaning it cannot be released to anyone other than the lawyers, paralegals and investigators in the case. Murray’s defense team reportedly asked for access to three fluids collected by the coroner’s office, including ones taken from syringes and an IV tube to re-examine test results. Pastor ruled that the coroner’s office must preserve the samples, and if defense attorneys and prosecutors cannot agree on the request, he will schedule a hearing on the matter. After court let out, a group of Jackson supporters gathered and sang an impromptu verse that featured the lines, “Conrad Murray is a cold man,” while holding up signs that read “Justice for Michael Jackson” and “Love Unites Us, Peace Drives Us, Judgment Day 4 All.” Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Michael Jackson

Brittany Murphy’s Husband Also Died From Pneumonia

Simon Monjack succumbed to the same illness as his late wife, final autopsy results show. By Mawuse Ziegbe Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack Photo: Riccardo Savi/ WireImage Brittany Murphy’s husband, screenwriter Simon Monjack, died within months of his late wife — and from the same illness. Los Angeles County Coroner’s officials announced Wednesday (August 4) that Monjack succumbed to pneumonia, just like Murphy, who died from the condition late last year. Monjack, 40, died in May at the couple’s Hollywood home, five months after Murphy, 32, was found in the same house in December 2009. He was reportedly discovered by Murphy’s mother, Sharon, who also found her daughter’s body. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told The Associated Press that, although prescription medications were present in his system, the drugs did not contribute to his death. Monjack, who wrote the 2000 movie “Two Days, Nine Lives,” was initially thought to have died of cardiac arrest. In February, a coroner’s report revealed that Murphy, who shot to fame in films such as “Clueless,” “8 Mile” and “Sin City,” died from a mix of pneumonia, anemia and prescription medication. The findings dispelled rumors that the actress abused illegal drugs or alcohol . Winter told the AP that the deaths were referred to county health officials and said that, in both cases, tragedy could have been avoided. “In simple English, they didn’t take care of themselves,” Winter said. “They didn’t seek medical advice from a doctor. Brittany could have survived if she had gone to a hospital, and Simon I think could have done the same.” Murphy and Monjack reportedly met when the actress was a teenager and quietly married years later in 2007 after a low-profile courtship. Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Didn’t Give Fatal Dose, Lawyer Says

Ed Chernoff claims someone else, or Jackson himself, could have administered deadly amount of propofol. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images In a hint of the strategy he’s prepping for the upcoming trial of Dr. Conrad Murray n the death of Michael Jackson , the lawyer for the late pop icon’s personal physician said his client did not deliver a fatal dose of the surgical anesthetic propofol to the singer. As fans gather around the world to pay tribute on the one-year anniversary of Jackson’s death , attorney Ed Chernoff told CNN that his client, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the case, said it’s possible that someone else administered the propofol or that Jackson did it himself. “There is no way that Dr. Murray pumped Michael Jackson full of propofol sufficient for major surgery,” Chernoff said, reacting to an autopsy report that said the level of he powerful anesthetic found in Jackson was equal to what would be used to sedate a patient for major surgery. “No way. I would stake anything that I own on this fact.” The Los Angeles County coroner ruled that Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009, was a result of an overdose of propofol, a drug the singer reportedly used in combination with other sedatives in order to combat chronic insomnia. Murray was hired to be Jackson’s personal physician, at a rate of $150,000 a month, during the rehearsals for the singer’s 50-date This Is It series of comeback shows at London’s O2 arena. The cardiologist has admitted to administering propofol to Jackson as a sleep aid, but Chernoff said it was in much smaller doses than what was found in Jackson’s body during the autopsy. If Murray did not administer the fatal dose, other theories include that another unidentified person entered the singer’s room while Murray was not present gave Jackson a larger dose, or that Jackson woke from fitful sleep and gave it to himself. But an anesthesia expert hired by the coroner appeared to dismiss the notion that Jackson may have accidentally killed himself with propofol. “It would have been difficult for the patient to administer the drugs to himself, given the configuration of the IV setup,” the expert wrote in the autopsy report. Chernoff, who must only convince a jury that there is reasonable doubt that his client contributed to Jackson’s death, seized on those possibilities in the CNN interview. “The coroner’s report deemed it to be unlikely, because it would be difficult, so I’m assuming they’ve addressed that situation and that’s what they believe, but is it possible?” he asked. “Absolutely, it’s possible.” Chernoff said Murray left behind two successful medical practices in Houston and Las Vegas to work for Jackson and that the doctor had no idea what he was signing up for when he agreed to the gig. “Did Dr. Murray know that ‘when I get onboard treating Michael Jackson, that I’m going to have to deal with this drug propofol?’ No,” Chernoff said, noting that Murray knew Jackson suffered from insomnia but not that he used propofol as a sleep aid. He claimed that Murray attempted to wean Jackson off the anesthetic, alarmed that the singer was using such a powerful surgical drug for that purpose. It’s unclear where Murray was in the 90 minutes before Jackson was found unresponsive, with phone records showing he made three calls totaling around 47 minutes during that time and the doctor telling investigators that he only left Jackson’s side for “two minutes maximum” to use the restroom during that time. That period is the only time when someone else, or Jackson, could have given the fatal propofol dose. Prosecutors believe the evidence shows that Murray is the only person who could be responsible for Jacksons’ death, but Chernoff believes a jury will see things differently. “We get a fair jury and we are able to afford just some of the necessary experts and investigators then, yes, the doctor is going to win,” he predicted. “Whatever the doctor did for Michael Jackson, whatever he did, was to help, and he took the necessary precautions and then something happened that is unexplainable.” Murray has pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charges, and a preliminary hearing in the case is slated for late August. MTV will be remembering the life and music of Michael Jackson all weekend. Don’t miss the one-hour special “Michael Jackson’s Influence on Music,” airing Friday at 6:30 p.m. on MTV.
