Obamas Visit The View, Talk Politics & Hannah Montana

From leading the free world at the United Nations General Assembly to leading a political discussion on The View, President Barack Obama had quite an eventful day. He and First Lady Michelle Obama sat down with the ABC show’s panel today and contrasted his and challenger Mitt Romney ‘s differing views on tax policy: Obamas on The View This is an election year? Who knew. The ladies of The View also asked he thinks the country would fare if Republican opponent Romney were actually elected. Obama diplomatically replied that America is strong enough to survive any leadership, but “the American people don’t want to just survive, we want to thrive.” Nicely played. As for her own aspirations, don’t expect Michelle Obama to attempt to follow in her husband’s footsteps, a la Hillary and Bill Clinton . She addressed that topic laughingly, saying, “It takes a lot of patience to be the president of the United States, and I’m not that patient!” Barbara Walters also asked Michelle to describe her husband’s personality, noting honestly that “we hear aloof, cold, unemotional.” “He’s very loving. He’s very giving. He’s very open,” the first lady gushed. “He’s funny. I’m funnier. But we understand that!” Point, Michelle! The couple recounted their first date back in 1989, eating ice cream outside a Baskin Robbins in Chicago. They shared their first kiss, a fact commemorated by a plaque (seriously). The president also described daughters Sasha, 11, and Malia, 14, “spinning around” backstage and reenacting Hannah Montana at the Democratic National Convention. He quipped that he walked out on stage before his DNC speech “thinking about Hannah Montana.” One can see how that would be a little awkward. Jacqueline Laurita to Teresa Giudice: You’re Going to Hell!

This just in: everyone hates Teresa Giudice. Melissa Gorga is officially done with her Real Housewives of New Jersey castmate, and based on the scenes we’ve watched from this Sunday’s reunion special, we can pretty much confirm: Teresa won’t be dining out any time soon with Jacqueline Laurita, either. The Real Housewives of New Jersey Reunion Sneak Peek Look for the costars to get into it over Laurita’s assertion that Giudice had it in for the Gorgas as soon as they were hired by Bravo. She claims Teresa asked her to take her side in a feud against Melissa and her husband. “You were telling me what to say and making me uncomfortable,” Laurita snaps at Giudice during the reunion. “I had other sh-t going on in my life and you didn’t give a f-ck! All you cared about was exposing them.” When Teresa plays innocent, Laurita REALLY goes off: “You are a liar, you’re sick – you’re going to Hell!” In actuality, of course, she’s going on the cover of supermarket tabloids around the country and probably getting a raise from producers. These Teresa Giudice scandals are why she was hired, aren’t they?

Sheriff Spokesman DESTROYS Fiona Apple in Arrest Response Letter

The Fiona Apple arrest story continues to get better and better. First, the singer was booked on charges of hashish possession in Texas last week. Not a huge deal, right? But then she went off on a bizarre public rant regarding the incident (below), telling concert goers she’ll make the arresting officers “f-cking famous” as a punishment for their actions. Fiona Apple Rants About Drug Arrest Now Rusty Fleming – the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer – has penned a letter to Apple in which he absolutely, positively lays into the artist. “First, Honey, I’m already more famous than you, I don’t need your help. However, it would appear that you need mine,” Fleming writes , adding: “Two weeks ago nobody in the country cared about what you had to say… now that you’ve been arrested it appears your entire career has been jump-started. Don’t worry Sweetie, I won’t bill you. “Next, have you ever heard of Snoop, Willie or Armand Hammer? Maybe if you would read something besides your own press releases, you would have known BEFORE you got here, that if you come to Texas with dope, the cops will take your DOPE away and put YOU in jail. “Even though you and I only met briefly in the hallway, I don’t know you but I’m sure you’re an awesome and talented young woman and even though I’m not a fan of yours, I am sure there are thousands of them out there, and I’m sure that they would just as soon you get this all behind you and let you go back to what you do best… “So my last piece of advice is simple: just shut-up and sing.” Fiona Apple? Eddie Vedder Performs at Obama Fundraiser, Calls Mitt Romney Comments "Upsetting"

Eddie Vedder clearly thinks you can’t find a better man than Barack Obama for President … or at least that he’s a better man for the job than Mitt Romney. Performing a set of songs at a campaign fundraiser for Obama in South Tampa last night, the Pearl Jam frontman bashed Romney’s 47 percent comments . “It’s very upsetting to hear a presidential candidate be so easily dismissive of such a ginormous amount of the population,” Vedder told the audience. Vedder helped raise $1.7 million Thursday for Obama’s reelection campaign, playing four songs for the president and 85 guests at a $20,000-per-person dinner. “I can’t say I’ve ever played that many songs in a suit before,” he said of “Rise,” “Without You,” James Taylor’s “Millworker” and Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.” He recalled signing up for a government security guard training program, working the midnight shift and becoming a security supervisor at a petroleum company. It was this, he said, that made his dreams reality . “I’m an example of someone who never made it to university,” Vedder said. “I did have this dream to be a musician. I felt that this dream had an expiration date.” “It was that job which allowed me to keep affording to guitars and microphones … For me, it all began with that ability to get the proper training for a decent job.” “It’s very upsetting to hear a presidential candidate be so easily dismissive of such a ginormous amount of the population.” Vedder introduced Obama, who thanked him for “for that unbelievable performance but more importantly for that story.” “For you to share that story with us, Eddie, speaks volumes not only about you but about this country,” Obama said. That story captures better than anything what this campaign is about and what this country is about.” Jackson Ripley would surely agree … what about you? Who are you voting for in November?

Race Matters: Life Expectancy Of “Least Educated Whites” Drops Significantly Due To Drug Overdose And Smoking???

Life Expectancy Of “Least Educated Whites” Drops Significantly While life expectancy for black people are on the rise, the opposite is now the reality for “least educated whites”… Via NYTimes: For generations of Americans, it was a given that children would live longer than their parents. But there is now mounting evidence that this enduring trend has reversed itself for the country’s least-educated whites, an increasingly troubled group whose life expectancy has fallen by four years since 1990. Researchers have long documented that the most educated Americans were making the biggest gains in life expectancy, but now they say mortality data show that life spans for some of the least educated Americans are actually contracting. Four studies in recent years identified modest declines, but a new one that looks separately at Americans lacking a high school diploma found disturbingly sharp drops in life expectancy for whites in this group. Experts not involved in the new research said its findings were persuasive. The reasons for the decline remain unclear, but researchers offered possible explanations, including a spike in prescription drug overdoses among young whites, higher rates of smoking among less educated white women, rising obesity, and a steady increase in the number of the least educated Americans who lack health insurance. The steepest declines were for white women without a high school diploma, who lost five years of life between 1990 and 2008, said S. Jay Olshansky, a public health professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the lead investigator on the study, published last month in Health Affairs. By 2008, life expectancy for black women without a high school diploma had surpassed that of white women of the same education level, the study found. But blacks over all do not live as long as whites, while Hispanics live longer than both whites and blacks. Discuss…

If You Don’t Like These Films, You’re Fired! Donald Trump Picks Five Favorite Flicks For Movieline

Ever wonder where Donald Trump got his take-n0-prisoners executive style?  Well, based on his favorite movies, it’s part Corleone family , part Tommy DeVito , part Rhett Butler and part Blondie from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly , although, frankly, it was  Clint Eastwood who could have used a little of the Donald’s mojo when it came to that lame-ass speech  the actor-filmmaker gave at the Republican National Convention in Tampa. After the Today show aired an unseen GOP convention video on Wednesday that featured the real-estate tycoon and reality-TV-show host firing President Obama Celebrity Apprentice -style — check out the video after the jump — Movieline  got to thinking about what  films Trump might like to watch when he’s not the one on camera. We inquired, and he graciously provided us with a list that, if you ask me, provides an interesting glimpse into his business philosophy. The son of the late real-estate developer Fred Trump, Donald didn’t just follow in his father’s footsteps, he built the Trump name into an internationally recognized brand and became a hip-hop idol in the process. Given his beginnings, it’s not surprising that one of his picks deals with another type of family business. Another choice, reveals that for all the firing he does, Trump is a romantic at heart. Herewith, are Trump’s five favorite movies, along with commentary from the man himself. 1. Citizen Kane (Director, Orson Welles; 1941):  ” It is one of the greats of all time. The acting, the story, the production values are all superb. The fact that it was Orson Welles’ first feature film is also impressive, and the mystery of Rosebud in the midst of a narrative about a business power play gives it further resonance. Hard to beat.” 2. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Director, Sergio Leone; 1966)  ” It’s tough. It’’s real. It’s well done. The music is unforgettable. The characters are well developed and sometimes remind me of some of the types I’ve had to deal with over the years in business. No weak points here.” 3. Gone with the Wind (Director, Victor Fleming; 1939):  “It’s a classic. It has stood the test of time. For me, it’s a love story combined with a time in our country’s history that was pivotal in our evolution. The scope of the storytelling is tremendous.” 4. G oodFellas (Director, Martin Scorsese; 1990):  ” Great entertainment, with a stellar cast and terrific direction.  The intensity propelled the story forward and the ‘business’ and how it was handled was impressive.”  5. The Godfather (Director, Francis Ford Coppola; 1972): Another classic, as was The Godfather: Part II.   The story is riveting and the characters were perfectly cast and directed. The family aspect intrigued me as did their business and history. Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Scott Disick: Partying in Toronto, Drinking SO Much Heineken!

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick have two kids together, but a new tabloid report makes it very clear just who the most immature member of this family truly is. On September 14, Disick was in Toronto to host a party at Tryst nightclub… … but the reality star went above and beyond his duties, Life & Style claims, asking for cocktail waitresses’ phone numbers so he could invite them to his hotel room and continue raging deep into the morning. “The girls arrived around 11 p.m. and partied with Scott and his business partner until security asked them to shut it down around 2 a.m. due to noise,” a source tells the tabloid, adding that Disick was at it again the very next night. Scott and his friends ended up at a club called Bloke & 4th on September 15. “He began throwing back Heinekens like they were going out of style,” says an anonymous fellow attendee, adding that Dicisk and his party left the club at 3:15 a.m., and that male and female voices were heard in his hotel room until 4:30 a.m. While she deals with these alleged actions, E! viewers were forced to deal with Kourtney Kardashian giving birth on the season finale of her family’s reality show. Good luck getting that image out of your head!
