This past weekend, NBA Champion Kevin Durant gathered his closest family and friends to surprise his mother, Wanda Durant, for her birthday celebration at D.C. hotspot, FELT Bar and Lounge at MGM National Harbor. Wanda Durant brought in her 50th birthday with an all-white cocktail party that was secretly orchestrated by her sons Kevin and Tony Durant. The birthday girl wore a floor length sequin gown fit for an queen that wants to shine for the evening and constantly entertained guest with her pearly white smile. An hour into the party, Kevin and Tony entered the back room to surprise an emotional Wanda, who thought her sons were out of the country. The Golden State Warrior was decked out in denim and seen taking celebratory shots of Don Julio 1942 after his mother was presented with an AARP honorary membership card. Wanda was all smiles throughout the night, she was seen singing and dancing before Kevin presented her with an extravagant cake at the end of the party. Sounds soooo sweet! Montgomery Gentry singer Troy Gentry was killed in a helicopter crash on Friday, the award-winning country act confirmed in a statement. He was just 50 years old. The band said earlier today: “It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed.” Gentry perished “in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00pm today in Medford, New Jersey,” the band confirmed. The 50-year-old country star was scheduled to perform with bandmate Eddie Montgomery at the Flying W Airport and Resort in Medford. Scheduled for tonight, their concert was cancelled immediately. “Details of the crash are unknown,” the post tragically continues. “Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time.” The Courier-Post in New Jersey reported Friday that an aircraft went down at the Flying W Airport with two people on board. The Associated Press reported the pilot also died. A spokeswoman for the FAA told the Courier-Post a Schweitzer 269 “crashed in a wooded area off the end of runway 1.” The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will soon begin an investigation; TV stations tweeted pictures of the crash scene. From hits “Hillbilly Shoes” to “Headlights,” Montgomery Gentry has become one of the most identifiable duos in recent country music. The Kentucky-based duo formed in the late ’90s and has released six studio albums, becoming something of an institution in the genre. The band was nominated for a Grammy in 2008 for their tune “Lucky Man” and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2009. On their website, Gentry said their long-running popularity is due to the “chemistry” between himself and Eddie Montgomery. “It’s a chemistry that’s worked for years,” Gentry said. “We have two separate singing styles that when they come together, they’re very identifiable. It doesn’t get old or get sterile.” “The back and forth between our vocals definitely keeps you listening,” he added, “and keeps you interested in the song.” Gentry leaves behind wife Angie and two daughters, Kaylee and Taylor. We've all witness the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. For millions who live in Houston and the surrounding areas of Texas to others along the gulf, this is a life-changing event. For the rest of us, we only need to check our phones or turn on the television to see the flooding and the suffering. People from all over the country (and other countries) are volunteering their time, money, resources, and expertise to help in any way that they can. That includes a number of celebrities who have donated to Houston relief efforts . Among these generous celebrity donors is Tyler Perry. We have his video below, and he's pledging $1 million to help Houston. Harvey has dumped a record-breaking amount of water on Houston. Yes, Houston is designed to flood. The roads are absolutely designed to catch water. But no city is designed for this much flooding. Especially not when it comes this quickly. We've seen streets turn into rivers so deep that they cover the tops of cars and trucks. Waves run across the surface of the water. That's how much we're talking about. We've seen homes and neighborhoods consumed by floodwaters. People have been swept away. People have drowned. People have been electrocuted. Some people are doubtless still isolated, or waiting to hear from loved ones. To say nothing of the countless heartbreaking stories of dogs who were separated from or abandoned by their humans. (Some dogs were even tied to posts, which you shouldn't do even when you're not condemning your dog to drown to death) This is a natural disaster but also a humanitarian crisis. Tyler Perry, the actor, writer, director, and producer who honestly doesn't need us or anyone else to explain who he is, took to Facebook yesterday to announce his pledge to help with the relief efforts. In the video, he talks about how much he's giving and how he's choosing to share his money. “This is about helping people, so if you want to give, I challenge you to find someone who has boots on the ground.” Note that he isn't suggesting something easy, like donating to the Red Cross. A number of people are leery of donating to the Red Cross after criticisms that Haiti still hasn't seen much of the money donated after their devastating earquake back during Obama's first term as President. The Red Cross has also been unable to clarify how much of what's donated to them right now will go directly to Houston. “I'm sending $250,000 to Lakewood, to make sure they can get all the supplies that people need, and I know for sure that they will. Also, I'm working with Beyonce's pastor [Rudy Rasmus], giving another $250,000 to Bread of Life to make sure that things are immediately getting to the people.” Tyler Perry also says that he is “saving $500,000 for other charities right now.” That is smart, because you don't always know what is immediately necessary. Some places have plenty of food, but need diapers or clothing. Other places have plenty of supplies, but need people with medical training. In addition to working hard to avoid charity scams (seriously, con artists will come out of the woodwork when there's a disaster and people want to donate), you need to see where the chips fall before you can determine where your money will do the most good. People physically on the ground (or in the water, in most cases) may be the best equipped to determine what needs to be done. Some celebrities, like Miranda Lambert, are just running their own relief efforts. Miranda has been rescuing dogs by the truckload and taking them to the safety of dry shelters outside of Texas. We're not going to pretend that Tyler Perry isn't problematic. He has a history of, especially through his films, making some alarming suggestions about things like HIV (which seem to be a curse). And though Tyler Perry himself is an abuse-survivor , he sometimes features abuse in his comedy. (Different people process their traumas in different ways, to be fair, but by using it for “physical comedy” he sends mixed messages) Even in this video, Tyler Perry defends Joel Osteen for not immediately opening the doors of his megachurch as a shelter. That's bound to be controversial. But we're going to give credit where credit is due, and Tyler Perry is putting a lot of money towards relief efforts and he's doing it in a very smart way.

The model and reality star talked with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia for their September issue and said, “Anyone can run the US better. My daughter [4-year-old North West] would be better.” The mother of two said she hopes to be more vocal about politics in the future. “You have to be really careful about what you say,” she explained. “Because a lot of things can be taken in the wrong context and I always want to be respectful; I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.” Kardashian has revealed some of her politics before, showing her support for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election. Now that we’re less than a year into Trump’s presidency, the Kardashian feels compelled to speak up. “We’ve worked so hard to get to where we were and to have so many things that we were so proud of in our country, to just literally revert backwards is the most frustrating thing,” she said. “Every single day, when you can’t really believe what’s going on, the next day it’s something else even more crazy and tragic. It’s really scary, the world that we’re living in now. And when you did feel safe at home, now with Trump in presidency, you just don’t feel safe any more.” Lastly Kardashian gave her thoughts on feminism, saying, “I said once before that I’m not really a feminist. But I feel I do a lot more than people that claim that they’re feminist. To clarify what I said before: I feel in my soul I’m a feminist. It depicts an unknown assailant ramming two slow-moving cars through a group of protestors who had gathered in Charlottesville, Virginia to object to the recent words and actions of White Supremacists in the area. After the car slams on the gas and plows other vehicles into this contingent of civilians, it hits reverse and speeds up in the opposite direction, hitting other individuals along the way. At the moment, one person is reported dead and 19 injured as a result of this terrorist act. Chaos has broken out in Charlottesville after modern day Nazis marched through the University of Virginia campus on Friday night, chanting epithets and yelling that “White Lives Matter.” They did so in response to the removal of a statue of late Civil War General Robert E. Lee. The following morning, counter protestors took to the streets of this city, which is now under an official state of emergency, per Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. In response to the civil unrest, President Donald Trump said a bunch of meaningless cliches and refused to point any fingers at the White Nationalists for their points of view or their violent actions. “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides,” Trump said in a short statement from his private golf club in New Jersey. He added: “It has been going on for a long time in our country – not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. It has been going on for a long, long time. It has no place in America.” The Commander-in-Chief did not mention White Supremacists or the the alt-right movement in his remarks, and later called for a “study” of the “situation.” Take a look below at the tragic incident that took these protests to a new and fatal level:

Imagine going through seven years of school to become a lawyer … only to work an entire legal case about alleged genital odor. That’s right — it’s time for another update about the actual court case in which Joanna Krupa is suing Brandi Glanville for claiming that her vagina stinks. This time, it’s not Brandi Glanville testifying about Joanna Krupa’s vagina … it’s Joanna Krupa’s ex, Romain Zago. And he had a lot to say. Yeah, it’s time for an update in the stupidest slander case that we’ve heard of in a good, long while. Presumably , as her ex, Romain Zago would be the closest thing to an expert in how her genitals smell. (Though some people have unbelievable hangups about oral sex, so you never know) The two filed for divorce only a few days before the deposition, but apparently it’s an incredibly amicable divorce. In the deposition obtained by TMZ , Romain Zago tells Brandi Glanville’s lawyer in no uncertain words that he disagrees with Brandi’s, um, olfactory observation: “If you want to know the answer to this stupid comments from your client, (Joanna’s) vagina smells amazing.” In case anyone doubted his sworn testimony, he added an oath: “And I swear on God, Jesus, my father, my brothers.” We’re sure that all of the parties that he just named would have preferred to just be left out of this discussion. Romain also compared Joanna’s genital odor to other women. “Better than any other woman in the world.” That’s … high praise. That’s also the weirdest high praise that we’ve ever heard. As you might recall, Joanna Krupa is suing Brandi Glanville for $15,000 for apparently insulting her good name in what we’d call the most ridiculous feud … except that most feuds are similarly ridiculous. We have to imagine that both women have spent at least that much already on legal bills. It seems like Joanna is after vindication in court that her vagina doesn’t smell bad. Instead, she’s just going to forever associate herself with Brandi’s comment, which may or may not have been accurate. Joanna’s a beautiful woman — does she really want to forever be “the Real Housewife who sued to prove that her vagina isn’t smelly” in people’s minds? Because that’s what she’s going to get, no matter how this case ends. So … do we need to talk about genital odor in general, here? Everybody’s genitals have some sort of smell. They’re supposed to. Vaginas are self-cleaning, but sometimes their pH balance can get a little messed up. The result can be a change in odor (and discharge). Just a few things that can mess up pH balance: -menstruation -exposure to a penis -soap or bodywash But there are a few things that require treatment can mess with genital odor, such as yeast infections. That shouldn’t be a source of shame — at least 75% of adults with vaginas will have at least one yeast infection in their lifetimes. There are simple creams to treat these, but in the mean time, odor might change a little. As to whether or not this was behind Brandi Glanville’s comments about Joanna Krupa … we have no idea. This might be an expensive exchange for Brandi Glanville, but considering how unpleasant Brandi’s other feud is, this must be an almost welcome distraction. Seriously, Brandi has accused LeAnn Rimes of trying to steal her life . Being sued in court over something so ridiculous should feel like a vacation after all of that. So far, the only person who’s coming out of this case looking good is Romain Zago with this testimony.
Justin Bieber abruptly canceled his tour, seemingly on impulse. We later learned that apparently his faith was involved in making the decision. Some fans worry that the Biebs has quit music forever to pursue a religious calling. But Beliebers don’t need to fear, because Justin will be going on tour again … when he decides to. Okay, so as we told you when Justin ended his tour in the first place, this was the official statement: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose world tour concerts.” Did anyone else sense thousands of Beliebers crying out at once and then being silenced when that happened? Because we did. “Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose world tour over last 18 months.” He clearly doesn’t hate to disappoint them enough , because he didn’t balk at disappointing a lot of them. “He is grateful and honored to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across six continents during this run.” Speaking of cast and crew, like … you have to wonder if he’s even aware of “However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.” Sure, tickets were refunded — that didn’t help the hundreds of people left hanging who’d signed up to work that gig. And then, of course, there’s the real reason that he put an end to his tour. It appears that the real reason behind Justin bringing his tour to an abrupt end wasn’t “exhaustion,” which is the reason that he seems to love to give. (Seriously, the Biebs cited “exhaustion” just last year — he is 23 years old and appears to be in pretty good shape, so we’re thinking that he needs to either go to a doctor or find a different excuse) And, for the record, his tour didn’t have super demanding travel times or anything like that to begin with. Not to mention that, while going on stage is definitely work, Justin isn’t going up on stage and dancing upside down on a pole. He mostly just dresses in expensive versions of really trashy clothes and performs. It is what it is, okay? As it turns out, Justin Bieber cancelled his tour for Jesus reasons . But getting super close with this one “young, hip” pastor (we all know the type) apparently won’t keep Justin away from his fans forever. According to TMZ , members of Justin Bieber’s inner circle assure fans that he’ll be back to making music and also back to touring. Just … when he feels that the time is right. Apparently music is his emotional outlet and his preferred tool of self-expression, so they can’t imagine that he would ever give up music. That’s good, at least. But the rest of this has really been a disappointment, you know? Justin’s had his ups and downs over the years, but we’d really hoped that he’d gotten his act together. And then bam , he cancels his tour. You don’t have to be boozing it up all the time to screw up. As easy as it is to be critical of Justin for quitting a tour when plenty of performers keep going when they’re sick or much older than he is, it’s also easy to blast him for We have to remember that celebrities can sometimes be especially vulnerable to charismatic religious people. That’s why that kid from Two And A Half Men got born again and now hates everything. That’s why there are so many celebrity Scientologists. Justin Bieber’s parents were already pretty religious (Christian, specifically), and his mom has been known to post End Times-related stuff on her Instagram. So you could argue that Justin is extra vulnerable to reaching a point in his life where he’s suddenly second-guessing all of his decisions and if they mesh with his faith.
