In mid-May, Johnny Depp found himself in major trouble after sneaking his two Yorkshire Terriers into Australia. Once the government learned of the dogs’ existence, they actually gave Depp a time frame during which he could evacuate the canine… or else they would be killed . Now, as a result of the same incident, Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, has actually been charged two counts of illegally importing Pistol and Boo into the country. She also faces one count of producing a false document, the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions said on Thursday. If convicted across the board, Heard faces a $75,000 fine… and 10 years in prison. Earlier this year, Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce accused Depp of smuggling the couple’s puppies aboard his private jet while filming the fifth movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. (The shooting of which ought to be a crime in and of itself.) “If we start letting movie stars – even though they’ve been the sexiest man alive twice – to come into our nation (with pets), then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody?” Joyce said at the time. “It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States.” Australia has strict quarantine regulations to prevent diseases such as rabies from spreading to its shores. It’s a complicated process to bring dogs into the country, one that involves permits and quarantines, and one that Depp and Heard ignored. The actress is due in a Queensland court on September 7 to answer to this summons.

Ariana Grande is really, truly sorry. The singer – who has taken a fair share of criticism this week for saying she hates America while staring at a tray full of donuts – has posted a four-minute long video titled “Sorry Babes” in which she goes into detail with an apology for the “whole donut fiasco.” Grande was caught on camera slamming the country while inside a California bakery, an incident that took place after she licked a donut for one reason. After acknowledging that her initial apology missed the mark, Ariana goes on to say here: “All the advances we’ve made in the last couple of months, all the wonderful progressive things that have been going on – I’ve never been prouder of this country, actually. “But, yeah, here I am apologizing to y’all.” The singer artist on to admit: “Seeing a video of yourself behaving poorly that you had no idea was taken is such a rude awakening. It’s like you don’t know what to do. I was so disgusted with myself.” Since the America-bashing took place, stars such as Rob Lowe have come out and slammed Grande . At 22 years old, Grande admitted she still has “a lot to learn,” nearly breaking down into tears at various points. “I never want to be anything but a positive influence on my babes, or my loves, or anyone who pays attention to me… I feel like I let you all down, which sucks,” she concluded. “I’m just here to apologize, and tell you that I love you, and I appreciate being able to talk to you like this.”

Latinos Outnumber Whites In California People have projected for years that Latino Americans would outnumber the rest of the races residing in the USA. That day has already come for California , where the “minority” has officially eclipsed the number of Caucasians residing in the state. Via LATimes : The demographers agreed: at some point in 2014, Latinos would pass whites as the largest ethnic group in California. Determining when exactly that milestone would occur was more of a tricky question. Counting people isn’t like counting movie ticket receipts. The official confirmation had to wait until new population figures were released by the Census Bureau this summer. The new tally, released in late June, shows that as of July 1, 2014, about 14.99 million Latinos live in California, edging out the 14.92 million whites in the state. The shift shouldn’t come as a surprise. State demographers had previously expected the change to occur sometime in 2013, but slow population growth pushed back projections. In January 2014, the state Department of Finance estimated the shift would take place at some point in March. Either way, the moment has officially arrived. “It is going to accelerate,” said Roberto Suro, director of the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute at USC. “This is really the beginning of a new phase that will play out over another generation.” The continued influx and growth of Latinos in the United States is not being fueled exclusively by immigration but by second- and third-generation immigrants who are settling down and starting families, said Marcelo Suárez-Orozco, a professor and dean of education at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. “Where L.A. goes is where the rest of the state goes and where the rest of the country goes,” he said. “We announce demographically speaking, the future for the rest of the country.” The world is definitely changing ! The Supreme Court may have recently legalized gay marriage around the country , but that hasn't settled all debate surrounding this issue. On The View today, tensions ran very high between guest panelist Candace Cameron Bure and co-host Raven-Symone (the latter of whom is gay ) once the topic of an Oregon bakery's decision to refuse service to a lesbian couple was broached. Said a clearly angry Raven-Symone in response: “It’s the same exact thing that they did back in the day saying that black people couldn’t do certain things because it’s my 'religious belief.'” But Bure saw things differently. “I don’t think this is discrimination at all,” she countered. “This is about freedom of association. It's about constitutional rights. It's about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with.” The discussion grew more heated from there, with Symone saying at one point she “refuses to associate” with the Full House star right then and there.
