According to the latest issue of Life & Style, it’s all over for Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert . How do we know? Because the cover headline below screams IT’S OVER for the First Couple of Country Music. “Miranda gave him an ultimatum to shape up or ship out,” a source supposedly told the magazine. “She told him she wanted to start trying for a baby soon, but that he had to clean up his act first.” Of course, this same publication says Blake and Miranda are already having a baby , so… Shelton allegedly elected to keep drinking, Life & Style writes, which represented “an obstacle” the twosome “can’t overcome.” Divorce rumors have plagued Shelton and Lambert for over a year now, with the duo joking about them over Twitter in March 2013. In this case, the report claims Lambert is “done with [Blake] humiliating her and is ready for him to grow up and get serious about their family’s future. I have no doubt that she’s leaving Blake if he doesn’t change.” This story sounds bogus to us, but hey: at least Life & Style is no longer claiming that Shelton is cheating on Lambert . Taylor Swift seems a little old to be letting her parents run her career, but sources close to the singer say that’s exactly what she’s doing…and they’re running it right into the ground. Even though they’re now legally separated Scott and Andrea Swift apparently remain united over their favorite activity: micro-managing Taylor and the people around her. One anonymous insider tells the New York Post that Taylor’s parents are “difficult and controlling”  and adds that the former couple is making it impossible for management and musicians to work with Taylor. “Taylor’s parents are incredibly difficult to deal with,” says the source. “They want to pay as little as possible and treat people like s–t, because they think those people are lucky to have the chance to work with a superstar like Taylor.” Terrible parents, eh? They may explain a lot – like why she’s dated half of Hollywood and  Karlie Kloss is the only person who can stand to be around her! We kid, of course. Taylor may have her diva side, but she recently visited cancer patients , and celebs who’ve worked with her in the past have reported that she’s a pleasure. The beef is already brewing…let’s hope nobody’s wig gets pushed back. Married To Medicine Star Mariah Huq Disses Quad Webb Is this really how doctors’ wives act? According to Sister 2 Sister: The beef between former reality TV BFFs Quad Webb-Lunceford and Mariah Huq made its way to the blogs after the season 2 premiere of “Married to Medicine” aired Sunday night. During the show, the two tweeted some shady comments as they each shared their sides of the rift onscreen. Quad explained that Mariah hurt her, and Mariah told her family that Quad was distancing herself. What’s clear is that the friendship has been damaged, and instead of talking about it, they’re writing about it. “I’m literally disgusted,” Quad wrote in her BravoTV.com blog. “Mariah takes no responsibility for her actions, yet wants to take credit for my entire being. It’s so sad that she looks at everyone as a pawn on a chessboard,” she wrote. Mariah questioned a scene in which Quad wept on the shoulder of designer Reco Chapple. “Chile When did hands start having tears! #SideEye #uNeedMorePractice #stopLying,” she tweeted before describing “Oscar-worthy performances” on her blog. Mariah didn’t mention Quad specifically, but “Married to Medicine” fans didn’t take long to guess which cast mate she was referring to when she wrote: “Imitation is the highest form of flattery, but there’s a difference between an original and a knock-off.” Do you think Quad is trying to copy Mariah’s style?

This is a damn shame. Men Beat Army Veteran For Liking Black People SMH. According to Raw Story: Police in Michigan arrested three men who are accused of viciously beating an Army veteran who objected to their racist remarks. According to the Westland Police Department, United States Army veteran Adam Wagner went to a 7-11 convenience store at 2 a.m. Saturday morning to purchase a pack of cigarettes. Once inside, he noticed three men harassing the female clerk, and he told them to stop. When he walked outside, the trio followed him. At this point, Wagner told police, they noticed the Army insignia on Wagner’s car and began to taunt him about the military. “They were saying, ‘How can you be in the military when they let black people in the military?’ They used the ‘n word’, saying [he] was an ‘n-word’ lover,” Wagner’s girlfriend told WJBK. “I took pretty, pretty good offense to that because my best friend in the army was black. He saved my life,” Wagner added. The suspects — all of whom had shaved heads — then began to assault Wagner, punching and kicking him until he was on the ground. “I got to ground and I went straight to the fetal position, covering my ear drums and as much as I could of my face,” said Wagner. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered he had a broken nose, a concussion, and lacerations on his face. The suspects were apprehended late Saturday night after a tipster recognized one of them in security footage aired on a local news station. It’s terrible that this man protected and served his country, yet he still has to deal with this ignorance.

Stop The Violence: 4 Confirmed Dead With 14 Injured After ANOTHER Gunman Opens Fire At Fort Hood Military Base In Texas

Yet another shooting at Fort Hood military base… Shooting Reported At Fort Hood In Texas A military base is suppose to be a very secure place and yet they have psychos running loose with guns. SMH. via NY Times As many as four people were killed and 14 were wounded after a gunman in uniform opened fire at Fort Hood on Wednesday, shutting down the sprawling Army base and inciting a huge police response, a member of Congress said. The shooting echoed the deadly rampage carried out there in 2009 by an officer who turned on his fellow soliders. Officials at Fort Hood released few details about the shooting but said that it appeared that the gunman was among the dead. On a conference call with reporters, Mr. McCaul said the authorities had identified the suspect as Ivan Lopez but that a motive for the shooting remained unclear.  The shooter was wearing an Army uniform, but it was unclear whether he was on active duty, Mr. McCaul said. In Chicago, President Obama described the shooting as a fluid situation that White House and Pentagon officials were closely following. “We are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened,” the president said. “We’re heartbroken something like this might have happened again.” Gun contol in this country is a must. Piers Morgan concluded his final broadcast of Piers Morgan Live on Friday by addressing a topic that has become synonymous with this British TV personality: Gun control. The anchor famously went off on a pro-gun panel after a Naval Yard shooting in September. And, even more famously following the tragedy in Newtown in December 2012, asked ” how many more kids have to die ?” before America adopts similar gun laws to those of other first world nations. Here’s a look at what Morgan had to say to wrap up his show last night: Piers Morgan Gun Control Plea And for those who are more visual, here is a transcript of the highlights: I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theater, and then, just a few months later, 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, the absurd gun laws in this country would change. But nothing has happened. The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence. Even when 20 young children are blown away in their classrooms.This is a shameful situation that has made me very angry. So angry, in fact, that some people have criticized me for being too loud, opinionated, even rude when I have debated the issue of guns. But I make no apologies for that. As Sir Winston Churchill said: ‘If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time – a tremendous whack.’ My point is simple: More guns doesn’t mean less crime, as the NRA repeatedly says. It means more gun violence, death and profits for the gun manufacturers. And to those who claim my gun control campaigning has been “anti-American,” the reverse is true. I am so pro-American that I want more of you to stay alive. But I’ve made my point. I’ve given it a tremendous whack. Now it’s down to you. It’s your country; these are your gun laws. A Lil Positivity: Urban Chicago Prep School Sends 100 Percent Of Graduates To College

With all the violence going on in Chicago, it’s nice to hear some good news. Urban Prep School Sends All Graduates To College If only more schools could follow in their footsteps. According to The Huffington Post: All 167 graduating seniors of Chicago’s Urban Prep Academies are college-bound for the fourth consecutive year. Students of the two Chicago public charter high schools — located in the city’s Englewood and University Village neighborhoods — gathered Thursday morning to celebrate the achievement of their schools, which some have dubbed “Hogwarts in the Hood” for their impressive, seemingly magical rates of success, CBS Chicago reports. Still, Urban Prep’s founder and CEO Tim King says, “the only magic going on at Urban Prep is the magic that these guys put in with their hard work and dedication.” Mayor Rahm Emanuel was on hand at the Thursday celebration and said the network’s students were setting a fine example others should follow, the Chicago Defender reports. “I want everyone in this city, I want everyone in this country to look up here,” Emanuel said. According to Fox Chicago, 85 percent of the students at Urban Prep’s campuses come from low-income families and many of the students start at least two grade levels behind where they should be. He should probably just shoot in the gym and STFU … Kobe Bryant Shares Thoughts On Miami Heat Trayvon Martin Hoodie Photo Via ColorLines In the March 31 edition of the New Yorker there’s a great profile of Kobe Bryant by Ben McGrath. In it, Bryant talks about aging out of his Hall of Fame career with the Los Angeles Lakers, and how he thinks his fame is “pretty fucking cool” for a kid who grew up in Italy and moved to suburban Philly as a teenager. Throughout his career, Bryant’s been talking about as an outsider, specifically when it comes to being the most famous in the world in a sport that’s overwhelmingly black. It’s given him a politically moderate stance on things, which was on display when McGrath brought up the subject of LeBron James posting a photo online of the Heat players dressed in hoodies in solidarity with Trayvon Martin. I won’t react to something just because I’m supposed to, because I’m an African-American,” he said. “That argument doesn’t make any sense to me. So we want to advance as a society and a culture, but, say, if something happens to an African-American we immediately come to his defense? Yet you want to talk about how far we’ve progressed as a society? Well, we’ve progressed as a society, then don’t jump to somebody’s defense just because they’re African-American. You sit and you listen to the facts just like you would in any other situation, right? So I won’t assert myself.” The profile goes on to quote former NFL running back Jim Brown, who at one point said, “[Kobe] is somewhat confused about culture, because he was brought up in another country.” Bryant then defended himself on Twitter, writing, “A ‘Global’ African American is an inferior shade to ‘American’ African American?? #hmmm. that doesn’t sound very #Mandela or #DrKing sir.” Setting aside a minute the fact that Bryant doesn’t seem know much about the Trayvon Martin case, what strikes me about this exchange is his insistence on questioning what it means to be black in America, particularly from the perspective of someone who grew up elsewhere. In this vein I think of Zade Smith and Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie’s recent discussion at the Schomburg, where Adichie talked at length about coming to the United States from Nigeria and learning how deeply embedded race is in American culture. What sets Bryant apart is his stingy insistence on clinging to a “post-racial” identity, this very old, conservative notion that black people should not be treated differently in this country — despite all of the evidence, like Martin’s death, that they are. People didn’t stand up for Trayvon Martin just because he was a black boy, they did it because his death so sharply illustrated the dangers of being a black boy in America. We’re not surprised at anything that comes out of Kobe’s mouth, but what do you think of his assertion that we should not defend black people just because they are black? Image via AP
