The Bachelor in Paradise: Spinoff Coming This Summer to ABC!

The Bachelor is introducing a new spinoff this summer, entitled Bachelor in Paradise … seriously. ABC will air a six-episode season after The Bachelorette finale. The show will be similar in format to ABC’s Bachelor Pad, which was canceled last year, only Bachelor in Paradise will be filmed in a tropical destination. The network confirmed the spinoff to EW in a statement: “The romantic dating series will feature new twists, shocking surprises, unexpected guests and some of the most unlikely relationships in Bachelor history.” “Plus the usual romance, drama and tears we’ve come to expect from The Bachelor franchise. It all comes together in the romantic TV event of the summer.” Bachelor in Paradise stars will be based in a remote “romantic paradise,” where they will compete to find their true loves, or at least a hot hookup. Naturally, ABC is expected to bring back villains and fan favorites from prior seasons to compete against and possibly find significant others. No, Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell won’t be on it … we don’t think. As on The Bachelor, the spinoff will include a rose ceremony, although the format may be slightly different from the weekly sending home of a star. Details are scarce, but we’ll find them out soon enough. After Andi Dorfman is done with her emotional and romantic “journey” this summer, we’ll head to Paradise for even more Bachelor shenanigans. Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez dated for a long while. They didn’t last, however. 10. Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski’s engagement was short-lived. She’s better off for it. 11. Jesse Csincsak and Deanna Pappas Jesse Csincsak and Deanna Pappas got engaged after The Bachelorette chose him over Jason Mesnick. Did not take. 12. Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter have been together so long, we forget that she was ever not Mrs. Ryan Sutter. They have been married for a decade and have two kids! 13. Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas These two lasted about four minutes. 14. Juan Pablo and Nikki Ferrell Juan Pablo’s now-infamous non-proposal made him persona non grata for many fans, but he and winner Nikki Ferrell are still together and – gasp – happy.

Michigan Gay Marriage Ban Struck Down By Judge; State Now 18th to Allow Same-Sex Weddings

A federal judge Friday struck down Michigan’s ban on gay marriage. As such, the state becomes the 18th in the nation to allow gays and lesbians to join in legal matrimony just like their heterosexual counterparts. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette immediately filed for an emergency request for a stay of the ruling in the late afternoon Friday. Schuette said that “Michigan voters enshrined that decision in our state constitution, and their will should stand and be respected.” “In 2004 the citizens of Michigan recognized that diversity in parenting is best for kids and families because moms and dads are not interchangeable.” It’s unclear if that stay will be granted. In his 31-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman heavily criticized the state’s position that the will of the voters should have been upheld. “In attempting to define this case as a challenge to ‘the will of the people,’ state defendants lost sight of what this case is truly about: people,” Friedman wrote . “No court record of this proceeding could ever fully convey the personal sacrifice of these two plaintiffs,” the judge went on. “[They] seek to ensure that the state may no longer impair the rights of their children and the thousands of others now being raised by same-sex couples.” Two Hazel Park, Mich., nurses, April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse, filed their lawsuit in January 2012, saying Michigan has no rational basis for denying them the right. The women have been partners for eight years. “It’s just amazing,” said DeBoer, who wiped away tears and hugged Rowse after learning of Friedman’s ruling. “This is what we’ve wanted for our family and families like ours.” “We got our day in court, and we won.” Friedman did not follow the trend of other federal judges handling similar cases across the country because he did not stay his ruling pending appeal. Unlike most federal judges who have taken up the gay-marriage issue, Friedman opted last fall to hold a trial and give both sides a chance to present their arguments. Friedman’s ruling came two weeks after the trial.

It’s horrifying but true: a  Kris Jenner sex tape is out there. We already know the Kim Kardashian sex tape isn’t the only amateur porn video in this family, thanks to a disturbing scene earlier this year on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. But the real question now is this: Does someone else have it? And is he blackmailing Jenner by threatening its release? According to Radar Online, a man has called Jenner over 100 times in the last week, demanding money in exchange for the footage. “If he’s not paid, he claims, he’ll release the tape,” claims an anonymous insider. Moreover, the 58-year old mother fears she is being actively stalked by this crazy individual. “She thinks he could be following her,” the source says. “She went out to eat and then got a text from him saying ‘Are you enjoying the restaurant? This person knew where she was.” Okay, that is scary. If true, of course. The family isn’t taking any chances, increasing security around Kris and turning over all relevant intel to the authorities. “Everyone is worried,” Radar concluded. As they should be. Brittany Kerr and Jason Aldean: Dating!

Country singer Jason Aldean is dating Brittany Kerr, the former American Idol star with whom he was caught cheating on his wife with back in September 2012. Aldean and Kerr have been keeping things on the down-low, but have nevertheless been together since he filed for divorce from wife Jessica Ussery in 2013. Back in 2012, the married Aldean, 37, was captured on camera kissing Brittany Kerr , also a former NBA cheerleader, at an outdoor bar in West Hollywood. The “Night Train” singer apologized for the incident on Facebook immediately once the story hit celebrity gossip sites, admitting that he “screwed up.” “I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately … I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that’s the end of the story.” Clearly it wasn’t. It’s not known when they hooked up again, but here we are. Aldean and Ussery, his wife of over 10 years with whom he has two daughters, reportedly tried to make their marriage work after the scandal, to no avail. Just seven months later, Aldean filed for divorce from Jessica Ussery . “This is a really tough time for my entire family,” Aldean said after. “Jessica and I have been together since we were teenagers. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs over the years as we grew up together as a couple.” “She will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children, and I know that we will both always make our daughters our No. 1 priority.” Kerr is his priority now, too. On Friday, March 14, Kerr was photographed watching Aldean ‘s concert at the Amphitheater at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Ala. Maybe she can be one of his backup singers? He needs more people. Teacher Denies Saying Racist Anti-Obama Remark He should have known better and watched what he said…now his job is on the line. SMH. According to Raw Story: An Ohio teacher tried to clarify remarks Thursday that he made to a student about his presidential aspirations as he fights to retain his job. Gil Voigt, a science teacher at Fairfield Freshman High School, flatly denied telling a student in December that “the country doesn’t need another black president,” as the teen had claimed. “Absolutely not,” Voigt told WLWT-TV. “I said, as the individuals were leaving the class, and I heard one of the individuals talk about wanting to be president, I said, ‘Let’s hope we don’t need another president like Obama, whether he’s black or white. We need somebody in the White House who can lead us in a different direction.’” “It was after school,” he said. “It was unstructured. It’s after the school day. It’s nothing more than if I was walking down the hall with somebody and we were talking about a certain issue.” Voigt said he doesn’t know why the student would accuse him of making a racist statement, although he admits he was reprimanded in 2008 for an “inappropriate racial comment” he made to a student who was sleeping in class. “I didn’t attack anybody individually,” he said. “It was an opinionated statement. I didn’t make any racial jokes. I didn’t curse. I’m fighting for clearance of my name.” This guy was already reprimanded for racist remarks before. Now, one day after the signing a Ugandan newspaper has released a list of the top 200 gay people in the country, all but urging resident who see anyone on the list to bring them to “justice.” via Gawker If you were curious about the practical implications of Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act, signed yesterday by President Yoweri Museveni, look no further than its Red Pepper newspaper, which has published the identities of what it deems the country’s “200 Top Homos” on its cover. If you thought the law banning gay sex would exist only in the realm of gay sex, you were wrong. This is a war on gay people. Red Pepper’s move is similar to that of a now defunct paper called Rolling Stone (no relation to the U.S. music magazine), which published a list of Uganda’s “Top 100 Homos” in 2010. It was a call to action: “Hang Them” read the issue’s cover. About three months later, Ugandan activist David Kato who was among the paper’s Top 100, was bludgeoned to death. In response, Rolling Stone publisher Giles Muhame said, “This looks like any other crime. I have no regrets about the story. We were just exposing people who were doing wrong.” In the 2012 documentary Call Me Kuchu, which details the struggles of the LGBT community in Uganda, Muhame giggles as he discusses his paper’s detrimental outings (there was a followup a few weeks later, which identified 10 more Ugandan gays). Regardless of your personal beliefs with regard to the LGBT community, no human being deserves to be physically harmed or brutally ridiculed for they way the choose to live their personal lives, which most likely what’s coming next following the release of this “list”. SMH!
