Now that Beyonce and Jay-Z ‘s baby girl has arrived, the new rumors about the couple are about the name they’ve reportedly selected for her: Ivy Blue Carter . Some say this is a cute name for a little girl, while others think it’s wack. But if “Ivy Blue” is the name of their first child, it does have meaning to her parents. Why Ivy? The first two letters of “Ivy” (IV) are also the Roman numerals for the number four. Beyonce has spoke of the significance of this number in her life, and she broke it down in her latest DVD “Beyonce Live At Roseland: Elements Of 4.” Beyonce and Jay-Z were both born on the fourth day of September and December, respectively; they were married on April 4th; her mother Tina’s birthday falls on the fourth day; several of Beyonce’s friends also were born on that day of the month. The number “4″ is so prevalent in Bey’s life, that she gave that name to her latest album, and released it on June 4th. Why Blue? The name Blue seems to have a direct reflection of Jay-Z’s recording career. Some may immediately wonder what significance the color holds for the couple, but it’s speculated to have been inspired by Jay’s three Blueprint albums. Beyonce and Jay-Z have yet to confirm that “Ivy Blue” is indeed the name of their daughter. But if it is, is it vain of them to name their child after their albums? Hardly. Katy Perry and Russell Brand clearly had their share of problems, but his craziness was not one of them, despite what certain reports would have you believe. On the contrary: If anything, the 36-year-old Brand, who has been sober seven years, may have been too much of a homebody for social butterfly Katy, 28. According to sources close to the couple, they tried to make it work, but were just too different and parted amicably. Sad, but nothing like this portrayal: No clue why Us decided to trash Russell Brand, who (raunchy stand up comedy and Michele Bachmann crazy eyes aside) is really not that wild anymore. Nor did he blindside her with the divorce, as the above cover says. Russell Brand filed for divorce instead of Katy because of her family’s religious beliefs. As for explosive fights, that’s news to people close to the couple. “I was shocked when I found out,” a source told People . “I thought they would be together for a long time. Maybe not forever – but definitely not just 14 months.” “They were always laughing,” the source went on to say. “They were very affectionate, always holding hands. They seemed like they were really in love.” Another source who spent time with Brand and Perry said that despite the split, they “took marriage very seriously … these aren’t people who give up.” Long and short: It just didn’t work out. But that doesn’t make it scandalous.

Kid Cudi ‘Broke Down’ Over Fan Ben Breedlove’s Death

Teenager who posted YouTube videos about his heart condition died on Christmas Day. By Andrea Duncan-Mao Kid Cudi Photo: MTV News Kid Cudi wrote on his blog that he “broke down” over the death of Ben Breedlove, an 18-year-old fan from Austin, Texas, who suffered a fatal heart attack on Christmas Day. Cudi heard about Breedlove after a pair of YouTube videos the fan made went viral before his death. In the videos, Breedlove silently holds up cards that tell the story of living with a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is a disease that causes the heart muscles to enlarge, making it difficult to pump blood properly. He says he “cheated death” three times: the most recent time in early December when EMTs used shock pads on his chest after his heart stopped. He described a vision of being in a white room and being with his “favorite rapper, Kid Cudi” wearing white suits and feeling “happy and peaceful” and he “couldn’t stop smiling.” He ended his videos with a card that read “Do you believe in God and angels? I do.” After watching the videos, Kid Cudi wrote: “I am so sad about Ben Breedlove. I watched the video he left for the world to see, and him seeing me in detail, in his vision really warmed my heart. I broke down, I am to tears because I hate how life is so unfair. This has really touched my heart in a way I cant describe, this is why I do what I do.” Cudi went on to say, “To Ben’s family, you raised a real hero, he’s definitely mine. You have my love.” Breedlove’s parents released an obituary in the Austin American-Statesman on Thursday (December 29) referencing the videos and writing, “Now the world has come to know our Ben. He was a genius at using the Internet to reach and influence his peers. … In the weeks prior to his death, he had faced some scary situations with his health, but had been given an amazing gift that he was determined to share; first with us, his family, and then, not surprisingly (and generously) with his YouTube audience.” Related Artists Kid Cudi

By James Montgomery Lily Aldridge and Caleb Followill Photo: Getty Images Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill and his wife, model Lily Aldridge, are expecting their first child, a spokesperson for the band confirmed to MTV News on Thursday (December 29). “We are thrilled to announce that we are expecting our first child together,” the couple said in a statement. “We can’t wait to meet the new addition to our family.” The official confirmation comes one day after E! Online cited a source that said Aldridge was “approximately three months along” in her pregnancy. The two were married in May, at a ceremony held at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California after dating for more than two years. “It was the perfect day,” Followill said of the event. The announcement of the couple’s first child puts a happy cap on what was, by all accounts, a rather interesting year for the Kings, who came into 2011 riding their Come Around Sundown album, feuded with “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy (who would subsequently apologize for calling the band “self-centered a–holes”) and released a well-received documentary, “Talihina Sky.” In the summer, after a much-publicized incident at a Dallas concert in which Followill claimed to suffer “heat exhaustion,” the band scrapped the remainder of their U.S. tour in support of Sundown , before returning to the road in September for a run of Canadian shows. From New York to L.A., celebs have plans to ring in 2012 with a bang. By Jocelyn Vena Kim Kardashian Photo: Denise Truscello New Year’s Eve is the last chance you’ll have to party in 2011. And as the days to plan out your big night begin to dwindle, MTV News is rounding up some of the biggest parties on the planet. From Los Angeles to New York, there’s something for everyone. The Kardashians will be hosting several parties all over Las Vegas. Kim will be at Tao (for a fee of reportedly $600,000), Kourtney, along with the Madden Brothers, will party it up at Chateau Nightclub & Gardens at Paris while Rob has it on lock at Tryst. Other big Sin City parties include Chris Brown’s shindig at Pure, Mary J. Blige’s bash at RPM Nightclub, Bruno Mars at The Bank and B.o.B at LAX (the club, not the airport). Professional party rockers LMFAO will be shufflin’ all night long at Haze Nightclub at Aria. Newly engaged John Legend will perform at the Palms with T-Pain and Paul Oakenfold. As celeb-filled as it may seem, not all the stars will be in Vegas. In Los Angeles, Mario Lopez is hosting a party at Hollywood & Highland that boasts performances by Lupe Fiasco and Cobra Starship. And in Chicago, “American Idol” alum Lee Dwyze will be at the Hard Rock Hotel with DJ Chris Kennedy (Chris Masterson) spinning tunes. Kanye West’s plans have yet to be determined, but he recently tweeted he’s looking for a place to DJ right into 2012. We’re sure someone will find a place for him at their party. New York is the home of all things New Year’s. Fergie and will.i.am will both be in the Big Apple to ring in 2012. The Black Eyed Peas’ leading lady will be at 1Oak, while will.i.am be DJing at Surrender. Lady Gaga has been booked to perform on two NYE specials: the 40th annual “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and the Japanese program “Kohaku Uta Gassen.” For those who want to snuggle up on their couch and avoid all the partying madness, MTV has your back. This year Demi Lovato, Mac Miller, Selena Gomez, J. Cole, Jason Derulo and more will be on hand for “NYE in NYC 2012,” which will air live at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday (December 31) from Times Square, where the famous ball drops on, you guessed it, MTV. Sure, the wedding was news, but the breakup , after only 72 days of marriage, was even more buzzed about. Move over, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves. You aren’t the only couple to have gotten engaged on Christmas Day . Singer John Legend proposed to his model girlfriend, Chrissy Teigen, on Sunday, his rep confirms to People . The event took place while the pair vacationed in the Maldives and here’s the best part: she said yes! It’s okay. They’re engaged. Legend – who celebrates a birthday tomorrow – and Teigen started dating in 2007. She has appeared multiple times in Sports Illustrated and he will perform in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve. Adam Lambert Arrested, Jailed After Fight In Finland

‘American Idol’ star spends hours in a Helsinki jail after a brawl with boyfriend Sauli Koskinen. By Jason Kaufman Adam Lambert Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic It appears that when “American Idol” star Adam Lambert and his boyfriend Sauli Koskinen get into a fight, things get quite heated. How else to explain that Lambert spent several hours locked up in a Finnish jail cell following a clash with Koskinen? TMZ reports that an argument between the two started inside of a bar in Helsinki and ended up on the street. Lambert allegedly was physical with the locals who tried to separate the two. When police arrived on the scene, both men were taken into custody. Talk about a public display of aggression. Petri Juvonen, who is heading the investigation, told The Hollywood Reporter that the arrests were made at 4 a.m. Thursday outside of DTM (Don’t Tell Momma), a well-known gay club. Juvonen said that the couple was released after an interrogation. Sofia Ruusila, an ex-Miss Helsinki, reportedly was at the bar and tried to get in between the couple when the fight escalated. She claims that she was accidentally hit by Lambert in the process. Lambert and Koskinen are a true reality couple. Lambert rose to fame as a genre-shaking “American Idol” contestant, finishing second, but turning the relatively safe song choices and performances on their ear during an electrifying 2009 season. Following the conclusion of the season, Lambert came out during an interview with Rolling Stone. Koskinen made his claim to fame by winning the Finnish version of “Big Brother” in 2007. The two began dating in 2010. The trip was to be a fun one for Lambert, who tweeted in Finnish his excitement upon arrival on Wednesday that “Helsinki is a beautiful city full of beautiful people! Britney Spears’ Engagement Begins ‘A New Chapter’

The two spent the weekend in Las Vegas, where Spears flashed her Neil Lane engagement ring, as they celebrated their upcoming nuptials as well as Trawick’s 40th birthday. Friends and family have been showing their support and well-wishes for the couple’s upcoming wedding, including Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline , who told TV Week magazine that he was “really happy for her.” Yet it seems that no one is as happy for Spears than her die-hard fans. MTV News spoke with Las Vegas-based webmaster Jordan Miller, who runs Spears’ biggest fan site, BreatheHeavy.com , and he told us just how thrilled he is about the news. “I was pretty excited for Britney when I found out she was engaged,” Miller said. “I think it’s a good step for her to have some sort of relationship where she can share her feelings and thoughts about her life, so I’m happy for her I think it’s really good for her.” And it seems all of his followers agree. “The overwhelming reaction from fans about the news of Britney’s engagement is that they’re really happy for her,” Miller said. “They think it’s such good timing for her, to finish the tour and kind of have a break and be able to start a new chapter in her life. So I think the majority of fans are really happy for Britney and that it’s definitely a good step for her.” The news doesn’t come as a big shock to Miller, since rumors of Britney’s engagement have been swirling for months. “I wasn’t surprised about the news of Britney being engaged. There were rumors for the last six months pretty much saying he was going to do it in December,” Miller said of the couple, who have been dating since 2009 . “So it’s cool to see that it actually happened and she’s going to get married.” Details have not been released as to when Britney will tie the knot, but it seems Miller already has the perfect wedding gift in mind from all of her fans. “If fans could get Britney a cool present, it would be a vacation to a tropical island where she didn’t have to be around anyone but Jason,” Miller said.
