Britney Spears’ Engagement Begins ‘A New Chapter’

It’s a ‘good step’ toward happiness in her life, Jordan Miller of Britney fan site Breatheheavy.com says. By Christina Garibaldi Jason Trawick and Britney Spears in Las Vegas Photo: Denise Truscello/ WireImage Britney Spears is “still glowing” after longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick popped the question to the pop star on Friday. The two spent the weekend in Las Vegas, where Spears flashed her Neil Lane engagement ring, as they celebrated their upcoming nuptials as well as Trawick’s 40th birthday. Friends and family have been showing their support and well-wishes for the couple’s upcoming wedding, including Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline , who told TV Week magazine that he was “really happy for her.” Yet it seems that no one is as happy for Spears than her die-hard fans. MTV News spoke with Las Vegas-based webmaster Jordan Miller, who runs Spears’ biggest fan site, BreatheHeavy.com , and he told us just how thrilled he is about the news. “I was pretty excited for Britney when I found out she was engaged,” Miller said. “I think it’s a good step for her to have some sort of relationship where she can share her feelings and thoughts about her life, so I’m happy for her I think it’s really good for her.” And it seems all of his followers agree. “The overwhelming reaction from fans about the news of Britney’s engagement is that they’re really happy for her,” Miller said. “They think it’s such good timing for her, to finish the tour and kind of have a break and be able to start a new chapter in her life. So I think the majority of fans are really happy for Britney and that it’s definitely a good step for her.” The news doesn’t come as a big shock to Miller, since rumors of Britney’s engagement have been swirling for months. “I wasn’t surprised about the news of Britney being engaged. There were rumors for the last six months pretty much saying he was going to do it in December,” Miller said of the couple, who have been dating since 2009 . “So it’s cool to see that it actually happened and she’s going to get married.” Details have not been released as to when Britney will tie the knot, but it seems Miller already has the perfect wedding gift in mind from all of her fans. “If fans could get Britney a cool present, it would be a vacation to a tropical island where she didn’t have to be around anyone but Jason,” Miller said. What do you think of Britney’s engagement? Let us know in the comments.

Britney Spears Experts Debate Final Four Videos

BreatheHeavy.com’s Jordan Miller puts his money on ‘Criminal’ as voting continues. By Christina Garibaldi Jason Trawick and Britney Spears in “Criminal” Photo: Jive It’s Final Four time in MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years . Hundreds of thousands of votes came in during round three — and that led to some shocking eliminations. Most notably, fan favorite “Toxic” lost out to “I’m a Slave 4 U,” which advanced to round two. “We thought that would be the biggest, tightest competition,” MTV Newsroom blog editor John Mitchell said of the contest between “Slave” and “Toxic.” “And it was the one that was separated by the most [votes].” The closest finish in the third round came down to this year’s “Till the World Ends” and “Lucky,” released in 2000. “Till the World Ends” held the lead for most of the voting, but a last-minute push by fans edged “Lucky” into the next round with a margin of just 128 votes. Now, it’s down to the Final Four. “Lucky” will take its chances against Spears’ latest video “Criminal,” which has a strong shot at the final round, according to BreatheHeavy.com’s Jordan Miller , who runs Britney’s biggest fan site. “I think ‘Criminal’ ‘s made it really far because it’s her latest music video that’s out,” Miller explained. “I think if that music video came out years ago, I don’t think it would be doing so well. It’s being promoted right now on TV and radio, but I think because it’s new to fans, it’s made it this far.” In the Final Four, “Slave 4 U” is facing off against “Hold It Against Me,” and MTV News experts predict “Slave” and “Criminal” will ultimately fight it out for the title of Best Britney Video of All Time. Spears herself recently weighed in on the competition with a tweet , hinting that boyfriend Jason Trawick was supporting “Criminal,” in which he co-stars with Brit. “It’s constantly been the most voted-upon bracket every single round,” MTV News’ Mitchell said of “Criminal.” “I think there’s a lot of groundswell behind that video; [Britney] obviously supports that video. I think that her fans are going to take it to the end.” Voting for the top four clips is open until 7 a.m. Thursday ; the top two will be unveiled at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, followed by the big reveal of the winner at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, which happens to be Britney’s 30th birthday. Britney Spears Video Tournament Down To Sweet 16!

‘Toxic’ and ‘Oops! I Did It Again’ sail into round two, while ‘Sometimes’ and ‘I Wanna Go’ are early casualties. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker Britney Spears Photo: Jive After a surprisingly tight race among the 30 Britney Spears music videos in the first round of MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years , we are now down to 16 candidates for her best video of all time! Perez Hilton and Jordan Miller of BreatheHeavy.com helped the MTV News correspondents weigh in on the first round, which saw the surprising and merciless elimination of the classic “Sometimes” and the newer hit “I Wanna Go.” “I think that ‘I Wanna Go’ is one of Britney’s all-time best videos,” Perez said of the clip, which was defeated by her even newer video for “Criminal,” co-starring real-life boyfriend Jason Trawick. “I like the ‘Criminal’ video; I don’t love it.” Meanwhile, some videos were huge leaders early on, like “Toxic,” “Oops! I Did It Again,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Me Against the Music” and early “TRL”-era hit “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” Head over to Britney30.MTV.com and vote for your favorite music video in MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years. The race between “Lucky” and “Boys” was a closer call than MTV News expected, with only a 7 percent margin between the two videos; “Lucky” was the eventual winner. Another interesting twist was the dark “My Prerogative” clip’s triumph over the happy-go-lucky vibe of “Sometimes.” With 16 videos left, the race gets much tighter. Now, Britney’s most epic and most-celebrated videos will be up against each other. “(You Drive Me) Crazy” will take on the double-pop queen-powered “Me Against the Music,” featuring Madonna, while Britney’s first video, ” … Baby One More Time,” takes on her most recent clip, “Criminal.” “Till the World Ends” and “Piece of Me,” which had byes in the first round, are no longer safe, as they are pitted against “My Prerogative” and “Hold It Against Me,” respectively, in round two, which closes at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The Elite Eight will be announced at 7 a.m. Monday. Help your favorite videos win by voting as many times as you can and campaigning. What’s your favorite Britney video?
