Kelly Clarkson delivered the ever-rare Britney Spears live cover last night in concert, belting out a rendition of the pop queen’s “Till the World Ends.” The inaugural American Idol winner has been performing covers of other artists, a la Taylor Swift , during her Stronger tour, and Brit Brit was on tap. “I thought this would be a fun one you’ll enjoy,” she told an L.A. crowd before singing. “I know you know this song … I expect everybody on these ‘Os!'” Kelly Clarkson – Till The World Ends (Live) Kelly did an awesome job, even if she has mixed feelings about the song. According to TooFab, she said, ” I love that song . I always get this bad taste in my mouth though … when I hear Britney Spears because usually she’s my cardio music and I frickin hate cardio! I frickin’ hate the gym … the gym can suck it!” Indeed. Way to stick it to the treadmill!
NBA star cites ‘fraud’ as the basis for their split. By Christina Garibaldi Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian Photo: Jerritt Clark/WireImage Nearly a month after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, the NBA star is firing back, seeking an annulment to erase his brief 72-day marriage to the reality star on the grounds of fraud. Under California law, an annulment will be granted only if the court finds that there was no validity to the marriage. In his Superior Court filing, Humphries checked the boxes marked “nullity of voidable marriage,” citing “fraud” as the basis for their split. If Humphries is denied an annulment, he is seeking legal separation, which means the former couple could avoid all divorce proceedings. Back in October, Humphries released a statement, saying he was committed to working on repairing his short-lived marriage. “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” he told People magazine at the time. “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.” On October 31, Kardashian filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision,” Kardashian said in a statement . “I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.” Court papers released online state that Kardashian requested the court uphold the prenuptial agreement the two signed before the wedding, which guarantees that the reality star will keep all money earned during their marriage. Kardashian and Humphries married on August 20 in a lavish $10 million affair that was captured by E! cameras and aired in a two-day television special. Their relationship is currently being played out on this season of “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.” The news comes on the same day as Kim’s sister, Kourtney Kardashian, revealed that she is pregnant with her second child with boyfriend Scott Disick. BreatheHeavy.com’s Jordan Miller puts his money on ‘Criminal’ as voting continues. By Christina Garibaldi Jason Trawick and Britney Spears in “Criminal” Photo: Jive It’s Final Four time in MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years . Hundreds of thousands of votes came in during round three — and that led to some shocking eliminations. Most notably, fan favorite “Toxic” lost out to “I’m a Slave 4 U,” which advanced to round two. “We thought that would be the biggest, tightest competition,” MTV Newsroom blog editor John Mitchell said of the contest between “Slave” and “Toxic.” “And it was the one that was separated by the most [votes].” The closest finish in the third round came down to this year’s “Till the World Ends” and “Lucky,” released in 2000. “Till the World Ends” held the lead for most of the voting, but a last-minute push by fans edged “Lucky” into the next round with a margin of just 128 votes. Now, it’s down to the Final Four. “Lucky” will take its chances against Spears’ latest video “Criminal,” which has a strong shot at the final round, according to BreatheHeavy.com’s Jordan Miller , who runs Britney’s biggest fan site. “I think ‘Criminal’ ‘s made it really far because it’s her latest music video that’s out,” Miller explained. “I think if that music video came out years ago, I don’t think it would be doing so well. It’s being promoted right now on TV and radio, but I think because it’s new to fans, it’s made it this far.” In the Final Four, “Slave 4 U” is facing off against “Hold It Against Me,” and MTV News experts predict “Slave” and “Criminal” will ultimately fight it out for the title of Best Britney Video of All Time. Spears herself recently weighed in on the competition with a tweet , hinting that boyfriend Jason Trawick was supporting “Criminal,” in which he co-stars with Brit. “It’s constantly been the most voted-upon bracket every single round,” MTV News’ Mitchell said of “Criminal.” “I think there’s a lot of groundswell behind that video; [Britney] obviously supports that video. I think that her fans are going to take it to the end.” Voting for the top four clips is open until 7 a.m. Thursday ; the top two will be unveiled at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, followed by the big reveal of the winner at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, which happens to be Britney’s 30th birthday. ‘It’s beautiful,’ pop star says in an online video as she sees the setup for the first time. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Getty Wondering what the Femme Fatale Tour will look like when it kicks off next week? Well, wonder no more! Britney Spears offered up a tease of the stage in a new video posted online. “Oh my God!” she squealed walking into the room seeing the setup for the first time. “I love it!” Spears walked the stage with her managers, giving fans a taste of what’s to come once the shows kick off June 16 in Sacramento, California, with opening act Nicki Minaj . The stage has it all: lights, video screens, a funky neon-colored floor, lasers, lifts and giant butterfly wings. “It’s beautiful,” Spears said as she listened to her music blast over the loud speakers and checked out the way the lights and video would play during what appears to be a reworked version of “Hold It Against Me” that included more electric guitar. “The Femme Fatale Tour will hopefully just be outrageously spectacular,” Spears recently said about the multi-city arena tour. “I’m just hoping that the choreographers will come up with just the most outrageous things, and I’m really excited. … This is one of the most excited I’ve been about a project in a really long time, so I can’t wait.” Minaj is just as excited about the tour, and she knows she has to go big to match the spectacle of a Britney show. “I’m just trying to put more theater on that stage. So much to me is music, but it’s also about putting on a show, so that’s my goal: to truly put on a show and incorporate theater and dance,” she explained. “I think it’s pretty easy to take it to the next level … I think I’m nowhere close to where I could be as far as my shows have been.” Spears’ longtime manager Larry Rudolph teased the tour’s theme months ago when he spoke to us in Las Vegas before Spears played a mini-set for an excited room of fans at the Palms Hotel and Casino. Even then, Rudolph knew Brit’s track “Till the World Ends” would play into the theme. ” ‘Till the World Ends’ keeps becoming a theme for us,” he said back in March. “The way we come up with a concept for a show like this is we sit with Britney, she talks to us about what she’s interested in and what excites her. We start with the songs on the album; we start with coming up with general, broad concepts. She tells us what interests her and excites her.” Will you check out the Britney Spears tour? Reworked tune features an opening verse by Minaj as Ke$ha sings atop Spears’ vocals throughout the song. By James Dinh Britney Spears “Til The World Ends” Photo: Jive Britney Spears isn’t the only pop titan dancing until the world ends: Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha have joined forces to add a new spin on an all-female remix of Femme Fatale ‘s second single, “Till the World Ends.” The reworked dance anthem, which leaked online Friday (April 22), appears to have surfaced earlier than expected as noted by a series of countdowns on all three of the star’s websites . Mixing the dance tune’s original sonic swirls with heavier bass, Britney tourmate Minaj starts off the remix by throwing down an aggressive verse, in which she calls out a female hater: “A-A-A-A-A-AYE!/ Chimpanzees is hatin’, but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they’d revive your career, but somebody lied/I ain’t talkin’ poultry when I say this chicken’s fried.” After Minaj spits a few introductory bars, Spears delivers the song’s first verse before an introduction for the all-star trio. “It’s Britney, bitch. I’m Nicki Minaj and that’s Ke$ha!” the Young Money MC proclaims. Ke$ha, who originally wrote the track for the pop princess, takes part in singing the club-ready track’s chorus. Spears soon takes back control of the song as Ke$ha shadows the singer’s lines toward the end of the second verse and bridge. Unlike the original version, the “Till the World Ends” remix also features a stuttering dubstep dance break. News of a star-studded collaboration was hinted earlier this week when producer Dr. Luke tweeted , “@NICKIMINAJ killed it tonight!!!! thanks!!!” Have you heard the all-star “Till The World Ends” remix? The pop star escapes the apocalypse in Ray Kay-directed clip. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears in her “Till The World Ends” video Photo: Jive Remember when Britney Spears threw a sweaty, dirty dance party in an unfinished apartment and slinked around wearing underwear over her pants in 2001’s “Slave 4 U”? Well, the party is back, and it’s as dirty as ever in the clip for “Till the World Ends,” which premiered on Wednesday (April 6). As befits the song title, the video takes place during the apocalypse, on December 21, 2012. Spears takes her party underground, beneath the sewers of an anonymous big city, somewhere in the world. As the buildings crumble around them and fiery masses fall from the sky, all Britney and her pals want to do is flirt and dance. The video was shot in Los Angeles in mid-March, and though Spears complained to us about the “grimy and gross” shooting conditions in a dank warehouse, her energy never wavers in the finished product. Directed by Ray Kay (Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga) and choreographed by Brian Friedman (who has worked with Britney throughout this current Femme Fatale era), the director’s cut of the video is a sexy mash-up of Spears doing what she does best: groping half-naked guys, giving the camera bedroom eyes and being sassy in a number of leather jackets and skintight bodysuits, including a red one that seems to be a nod to her Martian Queen catsuit from “Oops!… I Did It Again.” She smiles big and bright for the camera, and then looks sultry as she prances around and tosses her hair about like some dystopian siren. A closer look at her frisky pop-and-lock moves will be further explored in a choreography cut of the video to be released later on. While Spears spends much of the party seemingly happy to be away from the dangers of the apocalypse outside, eventually she emerges to a world that didn’t end, smiling as the sun bathes her in its warm glow.
