A company suing pop star Britney Spears for cutting them out of a perfume deal is trying to gain access to her medical records to prove she can’t testify. At issue is the court-ordered conservatorship she is still under after her behavior in 2007-08, which she is citing as the reason for not giving a deposition. Her father, Jamie, and attorneys control Spears’ affairs. Britney will not be required to give a deposition to Brand Sense, which claims that it helped negotiate a perfume deal for Spears but was cut out of profits. Brand Sense wanted to see records proving Spears couldn’t testify. But L.A. Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz ruled that Brand Sense has no standing. [Photo: WENN.com]

It’s not just the hoes that are gettin’ rained on in this case… The Texas law that imposes a $5-per-customer fee on nude dancing establishments does not violate free speech rights, the Texas Supreme Court ruled today. The unanimous ruling validates the so-called “pole tax,” created by the Legislature in 2007 but found to be unconstitutional by the 3rd Court of Appeals. “We think a $5 fee presents no greater burden on nude dancing,” Justice Nathan Hecht wrote for the court. “The fee is not a tax on unpopular speech but a restriction on combining nude dancing, which unquestionably has secondary effects, with the aggravating influence of alcohol consumption.” The ruling overturns the 3rd Court’s opinion that the $5 fee was improperly based on the content of protected speech because it singled out nude dancing. The opinion returns the case to Travis County District Court to address claims that the fee also violates the Texas Constitution. $5 per customer can add up to a nice lil piece of change just to see something strange. Beyonce’s dad Mathew Knowles is blaming his daughter’s business partners for negative things said about him recently. Mathew filed papers in a Texas court this week alleging that members of her camp have made “negative comments” about him. Earlier this week, it was reported that Mathew stole money from his daughter Beyonce . However, in an interview with the Associated Press yesterday, he denied the claim, saying: “We absolutely have not taken any money from Beyonce, and all dollars will be accounted for. In no way have we stole money.
