Akai Gurley’s Killer Will Not Face Jail Time After “accidentally” shooting Akai Gurley as he walked home — simply because he couldn’t see who was coming around the corner — a judge has ruled that convicted killer Peter Liang will not face any prison time. Instead, Liang was sentenced to six months house arrest, 500 hours of community service and five years’ probation. Via NYDN : The rookie cop convicted of killing an unarmed black man in the stairwell of a Brooklyn housing project won’t spend even one night in jail for the crime. “This is bull—-! The system is f—ed up,” one spectator snapped after Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun sentenced Peter Liang to five years’ probation and 800 hours of community service for the fatal shooting of Akai Gurley. “Akai’s life doesn’t matter,” Gurley’s aunt, Hertencia Petersen, fumed. “Another black man has been murdered by the hands of the Police Department. And the officer is not being held accountable.” Outside the courthouse, scores of angry protesters chanted “The whole damn system is guilty as hell!” At the same time, about 100 of the cop supporters yelled “Justice for Liang!” The mild-mannered Liang showed little emotion when he learned his fate – or when he pleaded his case to the judge, saying he regretted the “devastation” he caused when his gun went off in the dimly lit stairwell. “I was in shock. I could barely breathe. The shot was accidental, but someone was dead,” he said. “My life is forever changed. I hope I have a chance to rebuild it.” So an officer can shoot a Black man dead for simply walking home to his own apartment and face not a single day of jail time? Police Searching For Thief Who Robbed An 103-Year-Old Woman In The Bronx There are all sorts of terrible people doing terrible things in the world today, but as Meek Mill-ism goes “there’s levels to this s#!t”. The NYDailyNews is reporting one of the more nefarious crimes that we’ve come across in quite some time… Cops are searching for a heartless thief who robbed a 103-year-old woman of her food while knocking her off her feet in the Bronx Friday. The suspect — a woman — followed the 103-year-old into the elevator at the victim’s building on Bellamy Loop in Co-op City at 2:30 p.m,, police said. Once in the hall, the suspect knocked the elderly woman down, grabbing her purse. The attacker also swiped two meals the woman had received from a nearby community center. The victim refused medical attention. Police released surveillance video Friday night of the attacker, described as a black female, 5-foot-8, weighing 250 pounds. A Georgia teenager and her aunt have been arrested for the death of a toddler who was fatally burned after being placed in a tub of hot water as punishment.
Most people know Pauley Perrette as the goth forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on NCIS. Officers of the LAPD, however, are getting to know her as the woman who keeps randomly getting attacked by homeless people. Back in November, Perrette claimed she was assaulted outside her house by a homeless man who was later arrested based on her description. Now, the 46-year-old actress has taken to Twitter to share yet another lengthy account of a bizarre run-in: Perrette says it all started when she was stopped in traffic and spotted a homeless man asking drivers for change. “He came to my window, to take my dollar. I said God Bless You,” Perrette wrote. “He grabbed my wrist and put his whole inside my car. “He was in my car and I was scared. I looked at my dashboard and first said, ‘I rebuke you satan (sic) in the name of Jesus Christ.” Perrette says the man then asked for the time, she replied, “It’s 5:37,” and he walked away. She also suggested that there were several witnesses who could have intervened, but chose not to. Pauley adds that she had a taser and tactical knife in her car, but chose not to use them. Not surprisingly, Perrette’s story has been met with a fair amount of skepticism online, as violent attacks from homeless men and women are statistically quite rare, and both of Pauley’s stories feature some downright bizarre details. Of course, we have no way of knowing if the incident actually went down as she described it, so we’ll just advise the actress to invest in a can of mace and play it as safe as possible going forward. OJ. Simpson Angry Over FX Miniseries About His Trial “ American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson ” will be hitting TV screens starting next week, but there’s already one person who isn’t on board with the story FX is selling. Naturally, it’s O.J. Simpson himself. While the Juice awaits his parole hearing next year, he’s hot about the fact that Cuba Gooding Jr. nor anyone else from the production rang his phone for perspective while putting this series together. Via MailOnline : ‘OJ is mad because he is being ignored,’ a prison friend reveals to Daily Mail Online. ‘He says they have created this soap-opera based on what other people are saying and what has been falsely reported in the papers, but nobody had the b***s to talk to him,’ says the source. ‘And he feels it will be just be a bunch of BS because nobody knows what really happened, but OJ. He’s also resents that it’s a payday for everyone else and it’s his story.’ Last week OJ was so upset over the upcoming show, he was wailing that Nicole and Ron died over 20 years ago and just when everyone has stopped talking about it and he is planning to get out of prison next year, this movie is coming out and the madness is starting up all over again. OJ, who will turn 69 in July, is still sitting in a jail cell in the Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nevada after being convicted of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery and using a deadly weapon in Las Vegas in 2007. On October 3, 2008 OJ was sentenced to thirty-three years in prison with the possibility of parole in about nine years, in 2017. Well, seeing as how this miniseries was based on a book that ALSO didn’t ask him isht about isht, we aren’t sure why he’s so surprised that FX went the same route. A NY Man Arrested For Hate Crime After Slapping Muslim Restaurant Employee 26-year-old Robert Murino was arrested for a hate crime after he went on an angry anti-muslim rant and slapped an employee at a New York restaurant according to a report in the NYDailyNews … “How do you feel about ISIS,” he asked one worker, according to court papers. When Tahir Mahood, 34, of Howard Beach, Queens, tried to calm Murino down, Murino slapped him. “I’ve been here for the last two years and nothing ever happened like this before. … As a Muslim, I want to be polite, I don’t want to fight anyone,” he said. At that point, Murino was escorted out, but he returned a short time later, picked up a chair and smashed two glass partitions at the food counter.
