Sister Wives Cast: Cleared in Bigamy Investigation!

After a long investigation, bigamy charges will not be filed against Kody Brown and his four spouses, who gained prominence last year on TLC’s show Sister Wives . The Utah County Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that it will not pursue a criminal case against the Browns, based on the office’s interpretation of state law. Utah County Attorney Jeffrey Buhman said that his office has adopted a formal policy not to prosecute the practice of bigamy unless it occurs in conjunction with another crime or if parties to the marriage or relationship is under 18. “The purpose of this policy is to prevent the future prosecution in Utah County of bigamist marriages entered into for religious reasons,” Buhman wrote. “The criminal case against the Browns is now closed, and no charges will be filed against them for bigamy,” unless new evidence is discovered, he said. Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn, issued a statement Thursday, saying they are “delighted by the news that the prosecutors have formally declared that the investigation of our family is at an end.” “We have spent years under investigation and ultimately had to move from the state of Utah to protect our family and particularly our children,” they said. “The decision to create the new policy in light of our lawsuit is wonderful news for not just ourselves but the many thousands of plural families in Utah.” Attorneys for the Browns aren’t dropping their challenge to the law. The Browns sued Utah last year, and attorney Jonathan Turley said that will continue. “While I am pleased that the prosecutors are promising to leave this family alone, the decision will not end our challenge to the state law,” Turley wrote. Attorneys for the Browns filed an 80-page motion and Thursday “challenging the anti-bigamy law on seven distinct constitutional and statutory grounds.” In February, a federal judge ruled there was sufficient evidence to allow the Browns to pursue a lawsuit contesting the constitutionality of Utah’s bigamy law. Should the Sister Wives cast have been prosecuted?

More Kinky Looks at Rachel McAdams, Noomi Rapace in Brian DePalma’s Passion

Looks like that first steamy image from Brian DePalma’s femme thriller Passion was just the tip of the erotic iceberg! New images from the film have emerged from Cannes , where the film is seeking buyers, showing more of stars Rachel McAdams as a businesswoman and Noomi Rapace as her assistant, who become locked in a deadly power struggle that will involve lingerie, showers, and kinky masks. If these pics don’t get this movie sold, I don’t know what will. Passion is a remake of the 2010 French film Love Crime , which starred Kristen Scott Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier; it’s DePalma’s first film since 2007’s Redacted , and judging from the stir the first image has created, should mark a return to DePalma’s wheelhouse. And, really: Has there been a single film still in recent memory as immediately enthralling and dangerous and seductive as the Passion mask shot below? Sign me up. The new images were posted to the film’s Facebook page (via The Playlist and De Palma A La Mod ), which adds this synopsis: The offices of a prominent multinational corporation is the setting for this story of a power struggle between two contemporary women. Isabelle has unlimited admiration for her direct superior, Christine, a woman well-schooled in the ways of power. Christine enjoys holding sway over Isabelle, leads her one step at a time and ever more deeply into a game of seduction and manipulation, of dominance and servitude. The game is played for keeps, and there is no turning back. [via The Playlist ]

Tyga’s ‘Leaving Stuff Behind’ On ‘I’m Gone’ With Big Sean

‘When I made this record, I was just like, ‘Sean would be dope on this,’ ‘ Tyga says of adding Big Sean to the song. By Rob Markman, with reporting by James Lacsina Tyga and Big Sean on the set of their video for “I’m Gone” Photo: MTV News Tyga and Big Sean display quite the chemistry on “I’m Gone,” the new, heartfelt single off of the Cali MC’s sophomore album, Careless World. But the song only tells half the story. This week Tyga premiered the song’s Colin Tilley-directed video as an MTV Jam of the Week. MTV News caught up with the pair back in April when they shot the clip in a Lynwood, California, warehouse. “The video concept is me leaving stuff behind, like my girl, and then driving the car, then nobody driving the car,” Tyga explained. His description may have seemed a bit cryptic then, but now that the visuals have finally dropped, it all makes sense. Opening with a shot of the Young Money rap standout sitting alone on a barstool with his head hung low, it is clear that the bright lights have taken their toll on Tyga’s love life. “Looking around glass, my future is in the past/ I’m rearranging my life, I’m single and now I laugh,” he spits to begin the song. The somber track is quite emotional and wouldn’t seem to call for a guest verse. In fact, Tyga first intended for the single to be a solo affair, but when it was complete, he just heard a spot for his buddy Sean. “When I made this record, I was just like, ‘Sean would be dope on this,’ ” the tatted-up rapper said. “The record was already done — that’s why Big Sean is at the end of it. We made the beat longer because I was just like, ‘Let’s just add him to it.’ ” Sean, who closes the track out with reflective lyrics of his own, jumped on the song without hesitation. “I had already liked it off the rip, I liked the sample, I liked the vibe of it,” he told us. “He sent me the song and it was perfect. I remember I had just got done with my show in Houston. I knocked it out right after.” In fact, Sean’s voice was still hoarse from the performance he delivered just hours before, but it all worked out in the end. “My voice was half gone — I don’t know if people could tell, but my voice was damn near gone when I recorded it,” he revealed. “I just came up with the whole thing on the spot.” What do you think of Tyga’s “I’m Gone” video? Lil Boosie Found Not Guilty In Murder Trial

Baton Rouge rapper dodges a life sentence in 2009 murder case. By Nadeska Alexis Lil Boosie Photo: Asylum After a week of testimony and deliberation in a murder trial stemming from a 2009 case, jurors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, found rapper Lil Boosie (born Torrence Hatch) not guilty of a first-degree murder charge on Friday (May 11). The rapper was facing life in prison if convicted. Boosie is currently serving an eight-year sentence for non-related drug charges, but WBRZ reported that the 29-year-old was able to beat seemingly insurmountable odds in a murder trial in which he was accused of ordering primary witness Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to murder Terry Boyd. The 35-year-old was shot to death in his home in Baton Rouge in October 2009. On the third day of testimony in the Boosie trial , 19-year-old Louding took the stand and backtracked on his previous confession of being hired to kill Boyd. He claimed instead that he had never confessed to law enforcement about the murder, adding that he was with Hatch and getaway driver Adrienne Pitman at the rapper’s house on the night of the shooting. The prosecution came under fire for using Boosie’s violent lyrics to incriminate him in the case, even pointing to Louding’s tattoo of an AK-47, with the script “Yo Boosie Who’s Next?” as proof that the two had conspired. Meanwhile, the defense aimed to paint a picture of Boosie as an artist who let too many strangers into his inner circle without knowing their true intentions. On Wednesday morning, an IT specialist took the stand to testify about the contents of the Baton Rouge rapper’s computer . The expert pinpointed a photo of a tattoo parlor, which was related to the investigation, but no details were given on how his testimony might have affected the case. Throughout the trial, several officers were questioned, including one who revealed that Boosie was not considered a suspect until his name was brought up during Louding’s confession. While prosecutors argued that Louding’s admissions and cell phone records were proof that he committed the crime, Boosie’s defense attorneys countered that the confession was a lie, prompted by hours of interrogation.
