Justin Bieber Pitches Proactiv

Justin Bieber has something in common with Jessica Simpson, Katy Perry , and Jennifer Love Hewitt. And it isn’t breast size. Instead, the 16-year old sensation has joined these beauties and other celebrities as the latest Proactiv spokesperson. Although it looks like the singer has never had a pimple in his life, Bieber says he can relate to this common teenage problem. Proactiv, naturally, is the solution. “I know that for a teenager, it doesn’t matter how many people are looking at you, you don’t want acne on your face,” Bieber says. “I’m in the limelight all the time… I’m constantly doing interviews, constantly doing photo shoots and I’m determined to keep myself clear. Using Proactiv will help that.” Added Justin: “My fans already know I’m just a regular kid, except the stuff about my life that’s not regular… like performing to thousands of kids and always being in the spotlight.” And guest-starring on CSI , and anchoring a 3D biopic about his life and writing a photo-based memoir . Except for all that stuff, Justin is just like you! Watch a behind-the-scenes video of Bieber’s Proactiv commercial below. Bieber for Proactiv

I’m here [and] I’m performing tonight. I’m also helping out another charity,” he shared on the red carpet. “It’s called Pencils of Promise . It’s all about giving back and helping out kids that need education. It’s really important that I’m able to help out other kids. I’m a kid myself, so it means a lot to me.” While he tweeted his intention to release “U Smile” as a single very soon, at the event, he kept his plans rather vague. “Musically, the next thing you’re gonna hear from me is I might be putting out a single in the next couple months,” he said. “I’m always making hits.” Bieber also recently added a new job to his r

Eric Stonestreet on Modern Family’s Emmy Rivalry and the Show’s Losing Strategy

Just this year, Eric Stonestreet has gone from a Kansas-born actor best known for a minor role on CSI : Crime Scene Investigation to an Emmy nominee on this year’s most well-accepted — and arguably, best — comedy on television. As Cameron Tucker, the most flamboyant member of Modern Family , Stonestreet is often responsible for delivering the show’s biggest laugh lines, a fact not lost on the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. When Movieline bumped into the actor earlier this week at the Beverly Hilton, he was quick to cite his plan for the night which includes meeting his favorite actress and delivering an award-worthy losing performance.

Avenged Sevenfold Bump Eminem From Billboard #1

A7X’s Nightmare ends Recovery ‘s five week reign. By Gil Kaufman Avenged Sevenfold drummer The Rev Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Last week, we wondered how long Eminem ‘s Recovery could hold on to the pole position on the Billboard 200, predicting that it might run the board until Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream drops on August 24. Someone forgot to tell Avenged Sevenfold . The SoCal hard rockers have managed to end Slim Shady’s five-week run at #1 with the best debut of their career. Their fifth album, Nightmare , debuts at the top on next week’s chart on sales of 163,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. That was just enough to edge out Em, who drops to #2 (159,000 units shifted),as Recovery edged toward the 2 million mark and he celebrated his nine VMA nominations . There are no other debuts this week, and the rest of the top 10 just features a shuffling of the cards. Last week’s #2, Rick Ross ‘ Teflon Don, only falls one slot to #3, but with a 64 percent sales drop-off, the Bawse sold considerably less product (63,000) in his second week on the charts. Justin Bieber ‘s My World 2.0 moves up a few to #4 (38,000), Drake ‘s Thank Me Later drops one (#5, 34,000), Kidz Bop 18 is down one to #6 (29,000), Lady Antebellum ‘s still-strong Need You Now is up two (#7, 27,000), Sheryl Crow ‘s 100 Miles From Memphis drops 5 to #8 (24,000), VMA queen Lady Gaga ‘s The Fame is up to #9 (24,000) and NOW 34 is down two spots to #10 (22,000). Veteran rapper Tech N9ne ‘s collabos album The Gates Mixed Plate — featuring Big Scoob , Glasses Malone , Devin the Dude and Brotha Lynch Hung — debuts at #13 (17,000). Fat Joe ‘s The Darkside Vol. 1 has a soft landing at #27 (12,000). Further down the line, R&B vocal group Dru Hill celebrate Indrupendence Day with a #30 bow on sales of 11,000, and new indie buzz act Best Coast sail into the #36 spot with Crazy for You (10,000). The iTunes charts tell a similar story, as Eminem holds on to the #1 slot on the singles tally with the smash Rihanna collabo, “Love the Way You Lie,” while A7X takes over the top spot on the album list. Nightmare is followed by Em’s Recovery , Ross’ Teflon Don , Drake’s Thank Me Later , Gaga’s Fame , an iTunes session from former 10,000 Maniacs singer Natalie Merchant at #6, the Black Keys ‘ Brothers , Mumford & Sons ‘ Sigh No More , the Hans Zimmer score to “Inception” and B.o.B ‘s B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray . While iTunes does not provide detailed sales data, it’s clear Em’s hold on the top of the singles heap is safe, as the rest of the top 10 is essentially the same as it was last week with just one new title, Usher ‘s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” at #6. Otherwise, it is: Taio Cruz ‘s “Dynamite” (#2), Enrique Iglesias ‘ “I Like It” (#3), Katy Perry ‘s “Teenage Dream” (#4), Perry’s “California Gurls” (#5), B.o.B’s “Airplanes” (#7), Mike Posner ‘s “Cooler Than Me” (#8), Jason Derulo ‘s “Ridin’ Solo” (#9) and Eminem’s “Not Afraid.” It’s not likely that Eminem will retake the top spot next week, as the Arcade Fire ‘s buzzed-about The Suburbs is due to debut, along with new albums from Bun B , Buckcherry and a Lady Gaga remix album.

Justin Bieber’s ‘CSI’ Story Line Will Be ‘Explosive’

He’ll play ‘a troubled young man … whose hard-luck life has left him scarred and angry,’ executive producer tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber tweets a photo from his acting debut on CSI Photo: CBS/ Twitpic With a 3-D movie about his life in the works, fans will get a sneak peek at Justin Bieber ‘s acting abilities when he makes his network TV acting debut on the “CSI” season premiere next month. It turns out, Justin, a longtime fan of the show, really wanted a part on the series. “I got a call that Justin really was a fan of ‘CSI’ [and] that’s all I have to hear, and so it just was perfect timing,” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told MTV News about casting the singer in the September 23 episode. “Justin was looking to make his dramatic acting debut. We had an incredible role for a young actor in [our season premiere], so it just seemed like the perfect marriage.” Bieber showed up on set for one day of work, and he managed to impress everyone in the cast with his work ethic. He is part of one very juicy story arc that will likely have viewers coming back later in the season to see what happens next. (Justin shoots again later on in the season for an episode set to air in February.) “There was one day that Justin had available and that was the day he came to ‘CSI’ and filmed his four scenes for the premiere,” she continued. “We will introduce his character in the premiere in September and then it will be a character arc and we will see him again playing Jason McCann again in February.” In a photo tweeted by Bieber, his character is seen handcuffed. So why the cuffs? Well, we got some answers from Mendelsohn. “He’s a troubled young man, raised in the foster-care system, whose hard-luck life has left him scarred and angry,” she explained. “When we first meet Jason, we meet him at a community center where he’s giving a testimonial in honor of a man who takes Jason and his older brother in when they had no one else, and that man is now in jail and Jason’s brother is out for revenge and looking for payback. “And the CSIs are looking for the brother and Jason is caught in the middle,” Mendelsohn teased. “At the end of the episode, we’re left with the question: Is Jason a good kid stuck in a bad situation or is Jason a bad kid hiding behind his cuteness? You can see why Justin was such a perfect choice to play this role. … It’s an explosive story.” Are you excited for Justin to appear on “CSI”? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber on CSI: First Look

Justin Bieber really is coming to CSI this fall. While the news that this adorable young singer would play a recurring role on one of TV’s most highly-rated dramas seemed a bit far-fetched at first, we now have photographic evidence to back it up. With executive producer Carol Mendelsohn saying Justin “did a really good job” during filming on July 23, here’s your first look at the cutie as the character of Jason McCann: Multiple sources confirm that McCann is a troubled teen with a foster father in prison. His brother is out to seek revenge on police, leaving Jason “in the middle,” Mendelsohn explained, adding: “Is he a good kid stuck in a bad situation or is he a bad kid hiding behind the cutes?” Bieber will appear on the September 23 season premiere. He’ll then return for a second episode likely to air in February. All of this, of course, leads up to Justin’s big-screen debut, which will be shown in 3D . Tweeted our favorite shaggy-haired stud on the CSI experience so far: “Amazing day… excited for you guys to get to watch it… Thanks to everyone at CSI for having me.”

Will Melina Kanakaredes Succumb to the CSI Casting Boomerang?

Earlier this afternoon, CBS delivered a shocking blow to CSI : NY fans: Melina Kanakaredes is hanging up her fake badge after playing the role of Detective Stella Bonasera for six seasons. Movieline’s sister site Deadline reported that Sela Ward is being considered as Gary Sinise’s new partner, but not for long if Kanakaredes falls victim to the same phenomenon that’s afflicted other actors who’ve tried to leave the franchise: the CSI casting boomerang.

Arianna Huffington Whines When PolitiFact Doesn’t Support Her Half-Truth

In today’s “Careful What You Ask For” segment, liberal publisher Arianna Huffington is crying at her website because the folks at PolitiFact didn’t back up her statement that Halliburton has defrauded American taxpayers of hundreds of millions of dollars in Iraq. Making this most delicious, Huffington asked to be fact-checked by the group! For those that have forgotten, the former outspoken conservative was a guest on ABC’s “This Week” on June 6 when she get into the following squabble with Liz Cheney (video and transcript follow with commentary, relevant section at 7:30): ARIANNA HUFFINGTON: Right here, we have the poster child of Bush-Cheney crony capitalism. Halliburton involved in this, and we haven’t said about that. They after all were responsible for cementing the well. Here’s Halliburton, after it defrauded the American taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars — LIZ CHENEY: Arianna, I don’t know what planet you live on, but that’s not — HUFFINGTON: — it’s involved again. I’m living on this planet. You’re living in a planet that is — CHENEY: — it’s — Arianna, what you’re saying — HUFFINGTON: — continuing — CHENEY: — has no relationship to — HUFFINGTON: It is completely — CHENEY: No relationship to the effects — HUFFINGTON: — Halliburton was involved in this. How can you say it is not? TAPPER: Well, Halliburton was cementing the pipe. HUFFINGTON: How can you say Halliburton has no relationship? CHENEY: Her assertion that Halliburton defrauded the U.S. government — HUFFINGTON: It did. It did. CHENEY: It was Bush-Cheney cronyism is the left talking point — HUFFINGTON: It was — hundreds of millions of dollars in Iraq. CHENEY: Arianna, is absolutely not true. It is absolutely not true. HUFFINGTON: OK, I’m so glad Politifact is going to be checking this. I’m so glad. CHENEY: Good. On June 9, PolitiFact acceded to her request: In evaluating Huffington’s statement, we’re most bothered by her use of the word “defrauded.” Some of the overbilling in Iraq appears to have been done from haste or inefficiency, or even in a desire to please military officials in the field without regard for cost. Whether the waste in contracting constitutes fraud is still being examined. “It’s a lot money being spent in a region of the world where we don’t have a lot of infrastructure for accounting for how the money is being spent. It will take years before we fully determine how we spent the money,” said Todd Harrison, a senior fellow for defense budget studies at the nonpartisan Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. In ruling on Huffington’s statement, we find much in the public record to support her statement, most notably the Justice Department lawsuit. Certainly there have been hundreds of millions of dollars that Halliburton’s KBR attempted to charge the government that have been denied. Government audits of KBR’s work in Iraq will likely continue for some time, and we do not expect a final accounting on these fronts anytime soon. Huffington glossed over some of these points in her back and forth with Liz Cheney. There’s also much evidence that makes us believe that hundreds of millions of dollars were lost to waste and inefficiency, not deceitful fraud. So we rate Huffington’s statement Half True. Almost a month later, Huffington is whining about it at her website: Whenever I speak about the future of media, I get the most positive reaction when I talk about the urgent need to create an online tool that makes it possible to instantly fact-check politicians and commentators as they speak (a bubble pops up, containing the actual facts supporting or contradicting what’s been said). Truth 2.0. That’s why I had such high hopes when it was announced that PolitiFact.com, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking project of the St. Petersburg Times, was going to evaluate the truthfulness of statements made each Sunday an ABC’s This Week. It wasn’t going to be instant, but it was a step in the right direction. Then my dust-up with Liz Cheney on the show last month was given the PolitiFact treatment — and I saw firsthand why the pursuit of Truth 2.0 is going to be harder than we think. PolitiFact’s finding that my statement that Halliburton had defrauded American taxpayers of “hundreds of millions of dollars in Iraq” was “Half True” — after first documenting example after example of why it was completely true — was an object lesson in equivocation, and a prime exhibit of the kind of muddled thinking that dominates Washington and allows the powerful to escape accountability. Despite the ludicrousness of the Half True rating — and since I was in the final throes of finishing my new book — I let it stand, feeling that the absurdity of PolitiFact first making my case for me, then falling back on the safety of a split-the-baby conclusion spoke for itself. Then, over the weekend, I read this entry detailing PolitiFact’s readers’ reaction to the Half True finding. Rummaging through its Mailbag, PolitiFact quoted three readers who said I was right (while castigating the site for “rhetorical tap-dancing” and “falling victim to the ills of pious fairness”), one who said I was wrong, and one who thought Half True was “right on.” Because this kind of hedging-your-bets thinking runs rampant in our media and political circles, and allows the corrupt no-accountability status quo to continue wreaking havoc on our country — and with my book at the printers, and a long weekend on my hands — I’ve decided it’s worth returning to the scene of the crime to do a little CSI exam of the evidence and see what we can conclude from PolitiFact’s head-scratching conclusion. After equivocating her case, Huffington concluded: Which is why I’d like to borrow two of the busiest letters of the day, and take this BP: Beyond PolitiFact. In the end, this is not about me, or Liz Cheney, or even Halliburton. It’s about our accountability double standard. It’s actually not that complex, nor is it ambiguous. It’s plainly obvious and the American people know it. And the refusal of our political and media leaders to acknowledge it is contributing to the widespread anger and cynicism sweeping the country right now. As long as we allow truth backed up by a mountain of evidence to be, in the name of “pious fairness,” downgraded to Half True, that’s the way the planet we’re all living on is going to continue to operate. And that’s a fact. I guess she’s no longer “so glad Politifact is going to be checking” her!  In the end, Huffington asked PolitiFact to access the veracity of her statement. They complied, and came to the conclusion that she was only half right. And like a true liberal, she whined about it claiming that it’s an example of everything that’s wrong with the world. Don’t you love how the mind of a liberal media elite works?
