Not only was La Flame presented with a city to the city while performing in his hometown, but it was also announced mid-concert that Houston will be getting a new amusement park, all thanks to Travis Scott and his love of ASTROWORLD. On Wednesday, February 13, while the rapper was performing in Houston for the second leg of his ASTROWORLD: Wish You Were Here Tour , Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner took the Toyota Center stage to surprise everybody at the concert with a special announcement. “Because of him, we want to bring another amusement theme park back to the city,” Mayor Turner said before presenting Scott with his very own key to the city. “Because of him, we want to bring another amusement park back to Houston.” Mayor @SylvesterTurner gives a key to the city to @trvisXX ! pic.twitter.com/0IJpstfkEz — Toyota Center (@ToyotaCenter) February 14, 2019 According to the Mayor’s Office, the desire to bring a theme park back to Houston is solely the brainchild of Travis Scott. According to reports from KHOU 11 News , Scott is in support of the mayor tapping investors to help create and design an amusement park that operates as a private business venture. “This would not be a city project but would encourage the use of private money and developers,” Turner’s spokeswoman further explained about the project. “Mayor Turner is definitely in support of that.” It was truly lit at @ToyotaCenter this evening. It all starts with Juju telling Kimbella and Cyn that she has to host an event in Costa Rica and wants them to come with her so they can make it a girls trip. However, there’s a catch. Juju also plans on bringing Yandy. Kimbella says she’s still on cloud nine about her engagement and she’s going to go to Costa Rica regardless and keep it cute. Cyn and Joe have been in a much better space since their therapy session. Their communication is good and they’re having sex again. In fact, they’re in such a good space that Cyn invites Joe (since State of the Culture is going on a break) so they can keep the momentum going. Basically, Cyn is that chick who brings her man on a girls trip. Juju expresses to Yandy that she’s annoyed with Cyn for inviting Joe so Yandy uses this as the opportunity to invite Safaree. Juju isn’t thrilled to see Safaree either because she says he hasn’t really been a good friend to her. Yandy’s explanation is that Safaree is in a weird space (he didn’t go through with the sex toy deal among other career and life stuff) and could use the trip. Plus, he could keep Joe company. Juju begrudgingly agrees. Later on, Maino reveals to Joe that he and Maggie aren’t on good terms right now. Maggie is still mad at him about not taking her rapping seriously so they haven’t spoken in a minute. Maggie is going on the not so girls trip so Joe thinks it’s a great idea to invite Maino too! We’ll see how that goes. Juelz can’t go for obvious reasons. In other news, Alexis Skyy links up with Solo Lucci to discuss the rumors that he helped to perpetuate on #theblogs that he’s her real baby daddy. Them meeting up is really unnecessary because they end up arguing. Basically, Lucci thinks he really could be the father. Alexis says he’s not and that she’s just going through with the test to shut people up so we’ll have to wait and see what’s up with that. Yandy and Juelz meet up in the studio and this is their moment to discuss how awkward things have been between them. In short, Juelz feels like he’s stuck in the middle of Kimbella and Yandy’s drama and wants them to get right so they can move forward. You know what that means, right? They have to have a conversation. We all know how that’s going to go. Now we’re on the not so girls trip to Costa Rica. The catch is, Juju didn’t tell yandy she invited Kimbella so when Yandy sees her at the hotel she’s just like: Eventually, Yandy sits with Maggie and talks about how she’s pissed that Juju didn’t tell her about Kim coming. Then Maggie spills tea about how Jonathan told her that Kim and MariahLynn were talking smack about Yandy being a clout chaser and saying that her adopting Infinity is fake. This obviously riles Yandy up and it’s also the moment Juju shows up. Yandy is no longer open to having a peace talk with Kimbella and threatens to go back to New York. Juju talks all this yang about how she wanted all her girls to be there and she thought they’d be mature enough to be on the trip together. Pero like, is she serious? What did she think would happen? Anyway, Yandy actually does stick around because next week’s preview shows she and Kimbella in another heated exchange. The Rewind Ep. 29 We’re back with another episode of “The Rewind!” The “Family Guy” Landon Levarius and “The Bully” DJ Franchise are giving you their unfiltered hot topic opinions. This time they’re debating M. Night Shyamalan’s “Glass.” The James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson thriller didn’t get the best reviews, but for some reason, DJ Franchise loved it. The “I gave this a solid 8, there’s a lot of things that I enjoyed about this movie,” said DJ Franchise. “Sarah Paulson who plays in “American Horror Story, she’s sick in this movie.” Landon, however, isn’t pleased and gives it a 5. They then move on to Killer Mike’s Netflix series “Trigger Warning.” The show follows Mike as he usees his revolutionary and sometimes controversial ideas to explore cultural taboos. It’s insightful and fun and Landon LOVES it. He gives it a 9. “Of course I love this series,” says Landon.”I thought it was moving the culture forward.” Franchise, however, gives it a 5 and points out that Mike isn’t staying true to his “black-owned” message by not wearing black made clothing brands. The rest of the donation was used to purchase land near the school’s Ray Charles Performing Arts Center for the development of a park. “Robert F. Smith’s donation of $1 million for student scholarships will have a profound impact on the lives of deserving young men who have the desire to attend Morehouse College, but lack the resources,” Morehouse President David A. Thomas said in a statement released by the college. “We appreciate his generosity and his investment in a generation of students who will follow in his footsteps as global leaders and entrepreneurs.” Smith’s business acumen has made him a power player in the realm of entrepreneurship. His software and technology investment company Vista Equity Partners had $43 billion worth of capital commitments and owned over 50 software enterprises as of 2018. Using his resources to give back is nothing new for Smith. He is the National Museum of African American History and Culture’s largest private donor. “This museum says that we African Americans are at the center of it all. Source: Anisa Pennie / Anisa Pennie BOSSIP Editor Takes On 5K For Disney’s RunDisney Race Weekend Y’all know we love a good trip , so when iOne’s Pop Culture division Senior Content Director Janeé Bolden had the opportunity to take part in the 26th annual Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna, she signed up for the 5K right away. For those not already in the know, RunDisney is one of America’s most popular destination races. What started out with just 8,200 runners in 1994 has grown to over 100,000 athletes and spectators. It’s a great opportunity for athletes at all levels too. The four-day race weekend offers activities for runners of all ages and levels including the 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, runDisney Kids Races and runDisney Health and Fitness Expo. After arriving in Orlando Wednesday, January 9th, Janeé’s first stop was the Boardwalk Inn Resort, where she stayed for the race weekend. After checking in and securing her MagicBand, (Disney’s bracelet that serves as a room key and access pass to the parks) Janeé headed to the Health and Fitness Expo to grab her bib and race shirt. The expo offered up all kinds of goodies for sale; like compression socks, colorful kicks and costumes (after all, this is Disney where even athletes like to get in the spirit). Next stop was an early dinner because the 5K was set to start bright and early at 5:30 am and racers are expected to line up at the starting line beginning at 4:30. A word to the wise — when choosing costumes for runDisney we highly advise you to think of something that incorporates LAYERS! At 4:30 am the temperatures in Orlando were a breezy 46 degrees. Shout out to the brave couple who dressed as Jasmine and Aladdin! Everywhere we looked there were group of people in themed costumes — there was one group dressed as a monorail (complete with a speaker that made train conductor appropriate announcements), a family with shirts exclaiming that their dad made them run together and all kinds of Mickeys, Minnies and Goofys… There were also more than a few folks rocking Dopey Challenge shirts. The Dopey Challenge is for folks who are up for the task of running a 5K on Thursday, a 10K on Friday, a half marathon on Saturday and a marathon on Sunday. Source: Disney / Disney The 5K takes runners through Epcot Center and for the folks in the last group, it’s pretty spectacular watching the sun rise over the park while gasping for air. Fortunately there are plenty of reasons to pause along the way — including to get in line for photos with Scottish Donald Duck and other characters. Like many other racers, we took advantage of being up early to visit Disney’s parks after the 5K. Thursday we hit up Animal Kingdom, where we enjoyed the Flights of Passage ride in Pandora twice before heading over to Asia to ride Mount Everest — also twice. We took advantage of Park Hopper tickets, so the second half of the day was spent at Hollywood Studios where we rode the Tower of Terror before finishing the night at the Fantasmic show — a spectacular showcase of the many popular Disney characters and songs that includes lights, boats, projections and fireworks. The race has a 5:30 start time too but there are a lot more groups racing. We watched the race via live feed and waited at the finish line for the winners. The male winner Fredison Costa took the gold for his 7th time! Costa is a native of Brazil, like the female winner Gianna Martins. Both racers were nice enough to talk to BOSSIP about their wins… And Fredison was so excited he hugged everyone at the finish line. We’re wishing him good luck because he’s got another marathon ahead next week — he’ll be competing in the London Marathon. One thing about runDisney is that it may be at the happiest place on earth and the athletes might get into character but it’s still a very serious race because it serves as a qualifier for the Olympics and other important races. Pete Davidson really wishes Ariana Grande has not told the world that he has a giant penis. Yes, it’s true: This may the biggest first world problem anyone has ever encountered. Back in June, in case you somehow forgot, Grande was asked by a fan for the length of her interlude in the track “Pete.” But the pop star used this as an opportunity to joke (or not joke?) about her then-fiance’s d-ck size, replying that she estimated Davidson’s unit to measure around 10 inches. When erect, we assume. If that were her measurement when merely flaccid, well… there’s just no way Grande would be walking properly, even all these months later. So this sort of just became something everyone knows about Pete Davidson. The guy is funny on Saturday Night Live. He has battled substance abuse problems for years. And he’s massively hung. However, during a stand-up comedy act at Tarrytown Music Hall in New York on January 12, Davidson told attendeed that he actually would have preferred it if Grande had kept this information to herself. “I don’t like that she talked all that sh-t for my penis,” he joked to the crowd, referencing Ariana’s height and adding: “Everything is huge to her. Why would she tell everyone that I have a huge penis? So that every girl who sees my d-ck for the rest of my life is disappointed.” That’s pretty funny, we must admit. And it’s also sort of accurate: Grande stands only five feet tall. In her “Thank U, Next” music video, which indirectly addressed many of her ex-lovers, Grande added that a certain past boyfriend was “really big.” And we’re pretty sure she meant in the crotch department. Davidson, who appeared to threaten suicide not too long ago and who is hopefully doing much better these days, is obviously now using these Grande quotes for joke material. Which is his right, of course. But it does bring up something of a double standard, doesn’t it? Yes, we all laugh when Grande mentions Davidson’s impressive penis size. We all assume Davidson should just be flattered and pretty psyched that the world is aware of his status down there. However, let’s turn the tables. Let’s say a famous guy was going on and on in public about how his famous ex had giant boobs. He’d be dismissed as a sexist and a huge pig, right? Just something to consider, folks.
Just to be clear, Kanye West does not think it’s okay to have sex with underage women. But the controversial rapper does seem to think it’s okay to keep buying albums by artists accused of having sex with underage women. Heck, he basically encourages it! On Sunday, West took to his Instagram story and said the following: “They want art from the artist. But, anytime they do anything erratic, they just gonna pull up the full documentaries on him.” Full documentaries , huh? This certainly seems to be an allusion to R. Kelly because Lifetime aired a six-part documentary last week titled Surviving R. Kelly that detailed all the alleged sexual relationships he carried on with young teenage women over the years. The testimony from these women in the series is haunting. John Legend, who was interviewed for the special, has referred to R. Kelly as a “serial child rapist” on Twitter. This is an accusation that is hard to argue with after you read about what R. Kelly reportedly did with Aaliyah , for example. Years ago, a sex tape surfaced in which the long-time singer urinates on a 14-year old partner. And yet… fans have continued to buy his music and popular culture has mostly continued to support Kelly. Thankfully, the tide may finally be turning against the monster that is R. Kelly, as a #MuteRKelly has been gaining momentum on social media. In his diatribe over the weekend, it very much sounds as if Kanye is talking directly about this movement when he said: “They gonna come with the Michael documentary. We can enjoy all their music all we want.” Here, West is bringing up Michael Jackson. For the most part, his songs remain as iconic and beloved as ever — but this legendary artist has also been accused of inappropriate sexual behavior. Prior to his passing, Jackson had been under investigation on multiple occasions for allegedly touching little boys with whom he shared his bed. Does this mean his albums are off-limits? That’s a decision that can only be made by each indivdual listener. But it’s apparent West doesn’t think anyone’s sales numbers should be negatively affected by anyone’s actions, no matter how abhorrent they may be in the case of R. Kelly. UPDATE : Actually, no, this is not what Kanye meant, his wife has now claimed. Aware of the uproar over Kanye’s latest rant, the reality star has once again rushed to her man’s defense, Tweeting early on Monday: I’m going to nip this in the bud right now. Kanye was speaking about his own experience of everyone quick to say they are cancelling him because of differences in opinion & not being perfect. The analogies were in context to his own experiences, not defending anyone else. She then added: I want to make it very clear, he is not condoning anyone’s actions or unacceptable disgusting behavior. My husband’s words are being taken out of context due to timing. HA! Due to timing. Yes, because West purposely timed his remarks to coincide with the backlash against R. Kelly as the result of this documentary airing. Dude is totally responsible for his own words and his own timing. At some point, doesn’t Kim get tired of serving as Kanye’s interpreter? So much has happened since Part 1 of the 90 Day Fiance Tell All special , but Part 2 aired on Sunday night. Notably, TLC’s censors stopped bleeping out obscenities about halfway through the broadcast, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Our favorite part was probably Leida and Eric getting scolded by just about everyone. Let’s start with, dare we say it, Colt and Larissa . We have had so, so much to say about Coltee and Larissa over this past week, in large part due to their bloody fight and divorce . Though this Tell All was filmed last year, the couple manages to take center stage there, too. Why? Because they are deeply controversial and not well-liked. When everyone returns to stage, Steven and Jonathan discuss the idea of not even responding to Colt and Larissa. Steven dismisses them as “trash,” and you know that you’ve f–ked up when Steven has the moral high ground. Larissa speaks about her arrest — at the time, she had only been arrested once, in June 2018. Since then, she has been arrested two more times. Colt expressed a fear that Larissa would be deported. For the most part, they could not speak out about it for legal reasons. Every attorney’s worst nightmare is for their client to go on television and say anything at all that could be used against them in court. That’s out of the way, and it’s time to address Eric and Leida . We’ve actually been chomping at the bit to talk about Eric and Leida, because Tasha was on the Tell All. Tasha is Eric’s 19-year-old daughter with whom he was roommates … until, at Leida’s insistence, he kicked her out of her own home. Tasha’s okay and living with friends, but things are extremely tense. In fact, Tasha tells (the incredibly patient) Shaun Robinson that she “doesn’t have” a relationship with her father anymore. She says that he broke off all ties with her. Eric counters: “That’s not true. All I said is that I have nothing to say until I get an apology.” Shaun asks the very understandable question: for what does Eric demand that Tasha apologize? Eric says that it’s for “the mess.” That’s right, this is all about the apartment being slightly cluttered when Leida first arrived. He also says that Tasha “lied” by saying that about half of the mess was her father’s. It sounds like Eric threw Tasha under the bus and is just doubling down on that story to appease Leida. Tasha’s response is to simply raise an eyebrow, while Kalani — a parent herself — turns to give Eric a look of wide-eyed judgment. Overall, Kalani really really has the best take on Eric’s whole situation. Eric seems to want his teenage daughter to both restructure her entire life for him — which parents expect their minor children to do. At the same time, he very clearly wants Tasha to be an adult when it’s convenient for him — paying bills and working. “You guys are wanting her to be an adult,” Kalani says. “And pay bills and do this.” But, as Kalani points out, if Tasha is an adult, she can have her room and, frankly, her home as messy as she damn well chooses. Eric put Tasha in a no-win scenario and he seems stubbornly willing to lose his entire family over it. But Eric dismisses Tasha (and Steven) and tries to fit as many anti-Millennial buzzwords as he can. Nice try, dude. Okay, so then there’s Kalani and Asuelu . Asuelu, as Kalani has noted, has a sassy side to him. He really does not like Colt and Larissa, and he is a generally friendly person. Asuelu ended the Tell All with a Samoan dance, which is incredibly charming but made some people uncomfortable. The line between “I am appreciating his culture” and “they made this man of color dance for their amusement” can be tricky. Either way, best of luck to Kalani and Asuelu, who are fan favorites and who are expecting their second son — another boy. Jonathan and Fernanda seemed all good, aside from when Jonathan had to sort of stiff-arm Jay away. Jay said some very flattering things about Fernanda as an example of class and beauty. Like … we’re not saying that he’s wrong, we’re just saying that he is literally married to Ashley and needs to tone down his horniness by at least 20%. Obviously, since this was filmed, Jon and Fernanda have split. Jon recently revealed that he has not spoken to Fernanda since December 22. She apparently said some things to him that he is not willing to forgive, and he considers their relationship over. That’s … sad. (Also, just to address worries, Colt referred to Fernanda as a “16-year-old bride,” but she was already 18 when she and Jonathan met) Ashley and Jay had a host of issues that were mostly dealt with in Part 1 of the Tell All. Jay cheated on Ashley, signing up for Tinder right after their wedding. She caught him cheating on FaceTime three days later. That’s a nightmare, but Ashley was kidnapped at 19 and is also battling lupus. She has bigger fish to fry than her cheating husband. She does sound unwilling to send Jay packing to Jamaica, which is very nice of her. But she’s also not willing to just stay married on paper for him to horndog around with other women. Steven and Olga weren’t both on the show, because of Steven dragging his feet when applying for Olga’s visa. That is still weird and will always be weird, but it’s not as bad as him getting jealous of his own baby over Olga’s attention. We will say that this part of the Tell All showed Steven’s better side. He made good points about Eric and Tasha (though anyone can look reasonable compared to Eric). Most importantly, the dude apologized to Olga at the end, over Skype. That is important. That’s growth. The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member is estranged from husband Joe, but for a very good reason: He's serving time in jail for bankruptcy fraud and then may very well be deported back to Italy upon his release . We've heard at times that Teresa therefore wants to get out of her marriage — and at other times that she'll always stick by her man's side. What should we believe? It was the end of the line for Danielle Staub on Wednesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Margaret Josephs who has long advocated for Danielle to be part of the group decided enough was enough, and that their friendship was at breaking point. Instead of getting into another altercation, Margaret opted to send a text to end her friendship with the former series regular, effectively cutting her out of the action. “She’s wacko,” Margaret complained to her co-stars, before going on to reveal how the text exchange played out, and it was as ugly as you would expect. “I wish you a happy life. Never speak to me again,” Margaret said to Melissa Gorga and show newcomer Jackie Goldschneider as she skimmed her phone for the damning messages. “I can’t believe you’re this person, shame on you,” Danielle fired back before going on to wish Margaret a happy mother’s day. While that final act sounds like Danielle’s way of being nice, it was not. If you watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey online , you know that Margaret hasn’t had the best relationship with her kids. She has been vocal about the breakdown of her previous marriage leading to a decline in communication between her and her ex-husband’s children. It was a typical Danielle move, but at least Margaret was wise enough to let the snake down gently by SMS. Hell, Danielle was out for blood on last week’s installment when the two Joe’s got talking about her intentions with her then-husband. “I didn’t answer. We’re done. We’re never having this fight again,” Margaret said to the women after spilling the beans. “Denial is a real thing, and she f***ing is Cleopatra,” she said with a smirk. As for the other relationship that was on the rocks, that was Teresa Giudice and Jackie Goldschneider. Giudice was ready for a war of words. That’s what happens when you bring her family into your petty squabbles, Jackie. “I’m definitely not intimidated by Teresa. I just hope it’s not another scream-fest,” Jackie fretted before a one-on-one meeting with her nemesis. “What you did to me is not excusable,” said Jackie of their previous bust-up, adding: “I don’t get spoken to like that; I’m a grown woman, I have a lot of self-respect … I was like, ‘What the f***?'” “Listen, you came at me first,” Teresa shot back. But Jackie went on to imply that she and Teresa had something in common. Her father was in jail, and her mother was under house arrest. “We used to laugh about it,” Jackie said, clearly trying to make light of the situation. “I’m living it right now,” Teresa said. “My kids live with it every day. And it really hurts them that their father is not here.” “I did not mean to hurt you, and for that I am sorry,” Jackie ultimately said, with Teresa accepting. “Believe me, I’ve gotten more Namaste – I used to be a little bit crazier. So that was calm for me when I’m p***ed,” Teresa said to close off the argument. While Margaret was washing her hands of Danielle, she didn’t realize she was gearing up for another big fight.
