25 Things Creepier than the Dober-Man

This IS disturbing. ( but ultimately amusing ) –This video has been out a couple of days now and nothing you say or do with it makes it any less disturbing, nor does it become any less obvious upon multiple viewings that this man has probably “accidentally” brushed against a dog’s ballsack more than is acceptable in our society. All that aside, here are 25 things even more offputting. LINK– a good list,……er,…..a BAD list…. http://www.holytaco.com/25-things-creepier-dober-man added by: remanns

Hey Fox Fans, Your Favorite Network Is Part-Owned By a Saudi Prince Whose Family Rules By Sharia Law

Maybe Newtie could persuade Rupert Murdoch to have his partners build some synagogues and churches and end all this unpleasantness. The stridency with which Fox News personalities attack the downtown Islamic center — red meat for the millions who tune in each night — is an example of the often uneasy relationship and occasionally diverging interests between many of News Corp.’s properties, in this case Fox News and its parent corporation. For example, News Corp.’s second-largest shareholder, after the Murdoch family, is Prince Alwaleed bin Talal (pictured above), the nephew of Saudi Arabian King Abdullah, and one of the world’s richest men. Saudi Arabia, which is ruled by Alwaleed’s uncle King Abdullah, is, of course, an authoritarian petro-monarchy that actually is governed by Sharia law and is known as one of the top global sponsors of terrorism. A spokesperson for the Saudi embassy in Washington says that while Alwaleed is part of the royal family, he isn’t a member of the government, but rather a private citizen. I doubt all those Fox news patriots know that the same News Corp that’s owned by a Wahhabist Saudi prince just donated a million dollars to the Republican party. Of course they’ll never find out because the only network they watch is the same terrorist funded network that’s doing it. But if they were to hear about it, considering that they all seem to be so worried about the terrorists coming to kill them in their beds, I would imagine they’d be uncomfortable about getting all their news from a network that’s partially owned by one of “them.” And I’d be very surprised if they were sanguine about a scary Muslim donating to their patriotic political party. Why next thing you know they’ll be trying to build community centers near Ground Zero. At the very least, this whole thing is very insensitive, don’t you think? After all, some people really hate Muslims and it’s very unpleasant for them to have to watch news networks that are owned by them and be asked vote for a Party that’s funded by them. I’m not saying that Murdoch should be forced to stop donating millions to Republicans or partnering with Saudi princes who believe in Sharia law. I just think it’s common sense that he wouldn’t do it in the first place. added by: vixxxen618

When Aviators Become Vapor Trail Artists

Aerobatics have existed for almost as long as flight itself. The same impulse of endeavor that drove the Wright brothers to launch man into the air at Kittyhawk in 1903, drove those who followed to explore the limits of just what an airplane could do. added by: ritubpant1

Armless Pianist Liu Wei Defies Odds On ‘China’s Got Talent’

Heartening tales of overcoming adversity are typical fodder on “Got Talent” and other reality shows, but the shocking saga of “China's Got Talent” contestant Liu Wei makes this season's batch of “America's Got Talent” sob stories look like the pampered brats on VH1's “You're Cut Off.” And this is a true sob story–seriously, if you watch the video below and don't get at least a little bit misty-eyed, you clearly have no soul. Liu, now 23 years old, lost both of his arms in a freak accident when he was 10, after he touched an electrified wire while playing hide-and-seek. However, these tragic circumstances did not stop Liu from pursuing his dream of becoming a pianist–teaching himself how to play with his feet at age 18, after one piano teacher told him he would never succeed. And it turns out, Liu has more talent in one of his pinky toes than most four-limbed piano players have in both of their hands. “For people like me, there were only two options. One was to abandon all dreams, which would lead to a quick, hopeless death. The other was to struggle without arms to live an outstanding life,” Liu explained to the judges on “China's Got Talent.” Thankfully, Liu chose the latter option. Watch Liu's perfect performance of “Mariage D'amour” below, and make sure to have some tissues nearby: http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/385927/armless-pianist-liu-wei-def… added by: MotherForTruth

Videotapes from Secret CIA Prison Uncovered

The Associated Press has revealed the CIA has tapes of 9/11 plotter Ramzi Binalshibh being interrogated in a secret overseas prison in Morocco. The two videotapes and one audiotape are believed to be the only remaining recordings made within the secret prison system. In 2005, the CIA destroyed ninety-two videos of other prisoners being interrogated and tortured. At the time, the agency believed they had wiped away all of the agency’s interrogation footage, but the tapes of Binalshibh were later discovered in a box under a desk in the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center. A Justice Department prosecutor who is already investigating whether destroying the other torture tapes was illegal is now also probing why the Binalshibh tapes were never disclosed. Twice, the government told a federal judge they did not exist. http://www.democracynow.org/2010/8/17/headlines#9 added by: treewolf39

Prop 8: Federal Appeals Court Puts California Same-Sex Marriages On Hold Indefinitely | Updates

Federal Appeals Court Puts Same-Sex Marriages On Hold Indefinitely http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KrNl-GdSDb4/SF_T82PjUSI/AAAAAAAAAcY/fecu5sd8RO4/s400/s… Breaking: Ninth Circuit Stays Prop. 8 Decision _____ http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/08/federal-appeals-court-blocks-enfor… Los Angeles Times Southern California — this just in No gay marriages in California before December, court rules August 16, 2010 | 3:58 pm The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday agreed to keep same-sex marriages on hold until at least December. In a brief order, a three-judge panel agreed to an expedited review of U.S. District Judge Vaughn R. Walker's Aug. 4 ruling that overturned Proposition 8 as a violation of the federal Constitution. The panel agreed to hold a hearing on the case during the week of Dec. 6 and ordered both sides to present arguments on whether the campaign for Proposition 8 has legal authority to appeal Walker's order. Walker had declared Proposition 8's ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, saying it violates gay men's and lesbians' rights to equal protection and due process. The defendants in that case were Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown, but they declined to defend the law. As the losing parties, they have the authority to appeal Walker's ruling. But they hailed Walker's decision and said they would not appeal. A private group that opposes same-sex marriage, ProtectMarriage.com, defended Proposition 8 during the trial Walker held earlier this year. The group wants to appeal his ruling but may lack legal standing to do so. — Maura Dolan in San Francisco added by: EthicalVegan
