NBC has announced a few huge names that will grace the Saturday Night Live stage next month. On May 11, Kristen Wiig – who left the show in 2012 – will take over hosting duties, with Vampire Weekend serving as musical guest. Then, on the May 18 season finale, Ben Affleck will take the hosting reins and rapper/ Kim Kardashian Baby Daddy Kanye West will provide the tunes. Might a certain large-breasted reality star stop by for a cameo?!? We can only hope.
Two new international trailers have dropped for Only God Forgives , Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn’s next film with Ryan Gosling , and they’re sinewy, tense numbers that do an effective job of ratcheting up anticipation for the picture. Audiences at the Cannes Film Festival will get to see the movie on May 22, while U.S. moviegoers will have to wait until July 19. The two trailers below aren’t that much different. Both employ a lightning-fast cutting pace that left me unsettled and disoriented, which, I suspect, is exactly what an American would feel while seeking to avenge his brother’s death in murky Bangkok. If I have to choose a favorite, I prefer the first, French trailer because, like rare steak and a good Bordeaux, brutal cinematic violence pairs nicely with French subtitles, The second clip is a little less frenetic and drops a clue as to why Gosling’s brother (Tom Burke) met with a grim end. Lil Wayne and Trick Daddy rekindled their ongoing beef last night at a Miami strip club, and things nearly escalated into Drake-Chris Brown territory. It all went down at King of Diamonds Wednesday when, according to sources in the club, Weezy “started to get a bad vibe from Trick Daddy’s posse.” Rappers. Lil Wayne decided to cut the night short, but while he was walking out with Mack Maine, one of Trick Daddy’s boys threw a lit cigarette into his dreads. Oh yes. That’s when $h!t was about to get real, but security thankfully stepped in, got between the heated parties and staved off a $20 million lawsuit. Trick Daddy, for his part, was not with his posse when the cigarette was thrown or when security separated Weezy and Maine from the other guys. So what triggered the animosity prior to this? Trick has been jawing at Tunechi over Twitter ever since his major anti-Miami rant back in February. Possibly the one in which he said he slept with Chris Bosh’s wife ? It’s unclear, but this was all before Lil Wayne was on death’s door this winter. In any case, crisis averted for now. King of Diamonds told TMZ after things cooled off, “It’s sad they had to revisit a situation that was Internet beef … while surrounded by naked girls.” Quote of the week.

Via Daily Mail : Gladys Zimmerman published an open letter today, the one year anniversary of prosecutors arresting George Zimmerman for second-degree murder. In it, she thanks supporters who helped the family when they were forced into hiding after receiving numerous death threats. She writes that Zimmerman’s June 10 trial will ‘confirm’ the truth about the February 26, 2012 shooting that left the unarmed 17-year-old Martin dead. ‘April 11 2012 will be forever remembered by the Zimmerman family as the day the justice system failed us as Americans, and as a consequence an innocent man was arrested for a crime he did not commit, solely to placate the masses,’ she said. She later adds: ‘There was absolutely no justifiable reason my son should have been charged for a crime he didn’t commit and there was no just reason he should find himself incarcerated either.’ Zimmerman’s family has long said he is a victim of media manipulation and spin. They say the evidence has been clear all along that Zimmerman acted in self defense when he shot Martin once in the chest, killing him during a struggle. Gladys Zimmerman, who worked nearly three decades as a court clerk in Virginia, has never appeared publicly to speak about her son. She told News 13 in Orlando in a phone interview that she still has faith in the justice system, despite the charges against her son. Still, she warned that her son must be judged by an impartial jury. ‘It is imperative now more than ever that George receive fair treatment by the judicial system, as this is the quintessential birthright of every American,’ she wrote. She blamed news media for spinning the story about the Martin shooting and convincing the public that her son was a murderer. ‘The media, with the help of social media made it their prerogative to judge and sentence George before and after his arrest,’ she wrote.
