Justin Bieber Vs. Jonas Brothers Hair-Off: ‘Camp Rock 2’ Stars Vote

‘Well, there are three Jonas Brothers versus one Bieber …,’ co-star Chloe Bridges reasons. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Robyn Beck/ Getty Images Demi Lovato told us recently that the littlest Jonas brother, Frankie, has swag like Justin Bieber . And as it turns out, the elder Jonas Brothers, namely Joe, Kevin and Nick, and Justin Bieber are all known for something they have in common, and we’re not talking about their bustling careers. We’re referring to their incredibly famous and all-important heads of hair. While Bieber is known for his signature swoop, the brothers Jonas are recognized for their curly mops. This fascinating paralell raised a question: Who has better hair, the Jonas Brothers or Justin Bieber? Their “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” co-stars weighed in on this battle for the ages. “I’m friends with the Jonas Brothers [and] I do have to see them later on, but I know that Bieber has this whole thingy, the swoop thingy,” Jasmine Richards pondered. “I’m gonna have to say Jonas Brothers only ’cause their hair’s great. … But Bieber … can I be in the middle?” Nick Jonas’ “Camp Rock 2” love interest, Chloe Bridges, compared the decision-making process on this issue to choosing a favorite summer sweet. “Well, there are three Jonas Brothers versus one Bieber. So I don’t know,” she explained. “They might win, however, they both have good hair. It’s hard to say. It’s like vanilla versus chocolate — do you like the straight or the wavy? It’s like ice cream flavors.” Anna Maria Perez de Tagle seemed to have the decision locked: “Oh, the Jonases, for sure! I mean, they all have different hairstyles, which is awesome,” she said. “Justin Bieber has the one hairstyle. For sure, the brothers!” Who do you think has better hair, Justin Bieber or the Jonas Brothers? Tell us in the comments! Related Photos JoBros, Demi Lovato, More At ‘Camp Rock 2’ Premiere

Billionaire Who Denies Connection to Tea Parties Bankrolls Tea-Partying Glenn Beck Fans

David Koch, billionaire backer of the Tea Party movement, says he's never been to a Tea Party event. So, what do you call the conference full of Tea Partiers he just convened? August 29, 2010|WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a darkened hotel ballroom, on the eve of Glenn Beck's burlesque of self-righteousness at the Lincoln Memorial, some 2,500 activists listened politely to the tall, impeccably dressed elder at the podium as he stumbled through his introduction of the evening's guest of honor, the conservative columnist George Will. The speaker was introduced simply as chairman of the board of the Americans For Prosperity Foundation, the organization that sponsored the event. Few among the rank-and-file recognized the billionaire David Koch — heir to the fortunes of Koch Industries — or knew him as the man who bankrolls their activism, whose largess subsidized many of their trips to the nation's capital to take part in AFPF's organizing conference, and the Beck rally the following day. Beck, you'll recall, is in the employ of the billionaire Rupert Murdoch, whose News Corporation (the parent company of Fox News and the Wall Street Journal) has been in cahoots, as AlterNet reported( http://www.alternet.org/news/142068/utilizing_public_airwaves,_media_mogul_murdo… ), with Kochs' AFPF since the inception of the Tea Party movement. Koch's halting public speaking style befits his usual reluctance in recent years to interact with the public. He prefers to be known as the philanthropic presence behind the great institutions of New York: the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History and the New York City Ballet. Indeed, he made his entrance to the stage at the AFPF banquet to the strains of “New York, New York,” which seemed a bit out of place in a room filled with the sounds of Southern drawls and Midwestern twangs. But over the course of the past year, Koch has earned a new reputation, one he's not keen to have: the Daddy Warbucks of the Tea Party movement. As AlterNet first reported last year, the two main astroturf groups responsible for organizing Tea Party supporters into a national movement were both founded by Koch: Americans For Prosperity, presided over by Tim Phillips, the former business partner of Ralph Reed; and FreedomWorks, which is chaired by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey. Both FreedomWorks and Americans For Prosperity have their roots in a now-defunct Koch-funded group, Citizens for a Sound Economy. While Koch is actively involved in Americans For Prosperity, his spokesperson claims no current relationship with FreedomWorks, or, incredibly, with the Tea Party movement. Last spring, on the eve of the April 15 Tax Day Tea Party protests, Koch Industries spokesperson Melissa Cohlmia sent an unsolicited statement( http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/04/right-wing_backers_koch_indust… ) to reporters and bloggers, asserting that “Koch companies, the Koch foundations, Charles Koch and David Koch have no ties to and have never given money to FreedomWorks. In addition, no funding has been provided by Koch companies, the Koch foundations, Charles Koch or David Koch specifically to support the tea parties. Thanks for your consideration.” “I’ve never been to a Tea Party event,” David Koch told New York magazine's Andrew Goldman( http://nymag.com/news/features/67285/ ) earlier this year. “No one representing the Tea Party has ever even approached me.” added by: toyotabedzrock

Mandy Moore’s ‘Tangled’ Heroine Not ‘Typical Disney Princess’

‘She’s very independent,’ actress/singer tells MTV News of new Rapunzel. By Kara Warner “Tangled” Photo: Disney While the fall-to-Thanksgiving film season is usually rife with Oscar bait, it’s also prime time for releasing family films. One such movie is the highly anticipated “Tangled,” Disney’s updated and traditionally animated take on Rapunzel, starring the vocal talents of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. Kicking off our Fall Movie Preview, we bring you a delightful chat we had with the ever-gracious and lovely Moore, during which she discussed non-typical femmes fatales, singing in front of a 65-piece orchestra and Levi’s powerful pipes. MTV : How is Rapunzel different from the typical femme-fatale characters? Mandy Moore : She’s not the typical femme fatale or the typical Disney princess even, because: A) She doesn’t know she’s a princess. I think she sort of has this inkling that something isn’t quite right in her life, [but] she’s just really sort of motivated to find out what else is out there beyond this crazy tower she’s lived in for 18 years. Having said that, she’s very independent, she can take care of herself, and she’s definitely come up with really entertaining ways to keep herself busy. MTV : Is the Disney take on Rapunzel the same as the original fairy tale? Moore : Pretty much. She has an overprotective mother who tells her she’s not missing out on anything, and it’s a big bad world out there and it’s too scary and dangerous and she’ll be eaten alive, literally, if she decides to venture out into the world. MTV : What was your reaction to Disney changing the film’s original title, in an effort to lure in more young boys? Moore : I think I was initially a bit taken aback, only because people know the story of Rapunzel, so when you say you’re working on “Rapunzel,” it’s sort of a no-brainer, you don’t have to explain it to people. But as the title sort of sunk in, I understood the decision behind changing it. The movie is so great and so cute, and people are going to see the trailer and know what the story is about. I guess you sort of have to leave it up to the brains at the top. They know what they’re doing. MTV : What can you tell us about this particular story? Can you tease any romance? Moore : She sort of comes face to face with this stranger who precariously ends up in her tower, and he’s very handsome [and] he knows it. He’s quite the ladies’ man, if you will. Somehow, they get roped into going on this adventure together and start to see a different side of one another, and potentially a romance ensues. There’s [also] a few musical moments. MTV : What was that experience like, recording with legendary Disney composer Alan Menken? Moore : That was fun. I’m definitely the quintessential girl who grew up watching “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin” and the like, so it was probably one of the coolest things I’ve done thus far, being in the studio with Alan Menken and a 65-piece orchestra. It was such a moment in time. I kept telling myself: “Just be in the moment. Remember this. You’re going to want to think about this for years to come.” It was really magical and sort of everything you’d want a Disney animated experience to be. As one of the players involved, I was like, “Oh my God!” … To watch it all come to life, because so much of your job — you’re looking at storyboards, you’re having things explained to you, but there’s nothing tangible to see or get, it has to form in your imagination, which is one of the slightly taxing parts, but also the most fun — to get to be a kid again and go into the depths of your imagination and play around. This, being there with the orchestra and hearing the score sort of come to life and what the feel of the movie was going to be at different parts was like, “Oh, OK, now I really get what we’re doing.” So that was definitely a moment for me. It was the first time I met Zach [Levi]. MTV : Does Zach actually sing in the film? Moore : He does, and he’s amazing! Oh my God, we had one rehearsal before we went into the studio, and I was so interested [in him], because they wanted to cast actors in the roles who could also sing, and I had no idea that he sang, and it turns out he’s like a big musical-theater nut and had that in his background. He has a beautiful voice, but he has the perfect voice for something like this. He’s such a sweet guy, and he’s so funny in the movie, but I think his voice will astonish people, like, “Wow, where did that come from?” From the saucy Jessica Alba in “Little Fockers” to James Franco’s grueling journey in “127 Hours,” the MTV Movies team is delving into the hottest flicks of fall 2010. Bow Wow Wants To Become An ‘Artist’s Artist’ With Greenlight 3

‘I’ve accomplished more than a lot of cats in hip-hop who get that recognition,’ Bow tells Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes Bow Wow Photo: MTV News Monday’s Main Pick Street Star : Bow Wow Holding It Down For : Cash Money Mixtape : Greenlight 3 Real Spit : Bow Wow’s Greenlight 3 has a yellow light for now. Bow definitely plans to put it out, but he’s delaying it for a couple of weeks. He wanted to let his film “Lottery Ticket” breathe before he dropped his new project. “It’s important for me to do the Greenlight mixtape, because the fans want it. Where I got the title, the whole Greenlight title came from Jermaine [Dupri],” Bow explained. “He was gonna name his album Greenlight. I asked him: ‘What you gonna do with it?’ I took it and ran with it and created a brand. G1 set the tone. G2, I told you, it did a million downloads in a day. I never knew it was gonna be like that. I didn’t know if it’s me signing to Cash Money or because it was free. This is the third one, and it’s the last one. And it’s gonna complete the series. ” Greenlight 3 has 12 original records. It’s gonna sound like a brand-new album,” he added. “It’s easy to take a verse and put it on whatever’s hot. To make songs, that’s what a lot of artists or MCs have a hard time with. Making records. I did it this time for it to be original, because you see what’s going on with Chris [Brown] and the ‘Deuces’ record. That’s off the mixtape, what you think is off an album. I did that intentionally, because I could probably have three singles — which I do. I feel like I got three singles off the G3. G3 is to prepare people of what’s to come from the album.” Joints to Check For

By Shaheem Reid Jay Hernandez Photo: Evan Agostini/ Getty Images Actor Jay Hernandez didn’t get a chance to appear in too many scenes with the “bad guys” of the film “Takers.” His character, detective Eddie Hatcher, spends a considerable amount of time with his onscreen partner Jack Welles — played by Matt Dillon — trying to crack a bank-heist case. Hernandez says he had a ball working with Dillon, the O.G. of the ensemble cast, which also includes as the gang of Takers: T.I., Idris Elba, Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen, Chris Brown and Michael Ealy.

Rakim Recalls Epic Rap Battle That Never Was

‘We knew that people was trying to make us clash,’ the Paid in Full MC says of onetime beef with legendary Big Daddy Kane. By Shaheem Reid Big Daddy Kane and Rakim Photo: The Life Files Cornerstone Credentials: Rakim It’s probably the greatest rap battle that didn’t happen. Icon vs. Icon, the God vs. the Prince of Darkness: Rakim going mic to mic with Big Daddy Kane. Back in the late ’80s, fans were buzzing about whether the two New York legends would engage in an epic face-off, a matchup of perhaps the two best MCs in the game at the time. On “Set It Off” from 1988’s Long Live the Kane, Kane famously spit, “rap soloist, you don’t want none of this.” Of course, he rapped those lines during a period that saw Rakim ringing off crazy with “Eric B. Is President” from Paid in Full, which dropped in ’87. Ra had rapped, “And you know that I’m the soloist.” After hearing “Set It Off,” Rakim was prepared to retaliate with some rhymes on 1988’s sophomore LP, Follow the Leader. “Me and Kane, people always expected me and Kane to battle. ‘Yo, Ra, you and Kane need to do this. Boom, boom,’ ” Rakim recalled last Saturday when we caught up with him in San Bernardino, California, for the Rock the Bells kickoff. Ra performed the seminal Paid in Full from start to finish. “For the most part, it was love,” he added. “We knew that people was trying to make us clash. ‘Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em,’ I had wrote some of that for Kane because he did a joint before that I felt he was talking to me. I wrote ‘Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em’ [in response] and Eric B.’s brother, Ant Live, let Kane hear it. “They called me up like, ‘Nah, Ra, don’t let people gas it up and say I was talking about you,’ ” he continued. “So it was a couple of bars in ‘Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em’ that I took out because I spoke to Kane. … But he could’ve been lying. You know how it is, baby! Nah, love is love. A lot of people wanted it to happen — it would have been crazy. But big up to Kane, he always kept me on my toes, and I hope vice versa. And another brother: [Kool] G Rap. Those were my measuring sticks that I measured myself with. Big up for helping me keep my sword sharp.” The Rock the Bells Tour continues this weekend in New York City on Governor’s Island and ends its run on Sunday in Washington, D.C. In addition to Rakim, other hip-hop legends who’ll be on the main stage are KRS-One, Slick Rick, A Tribe Called Quest, the Wu-Tang Clan, Lauryn Hill and Snoop Dogg . Hip-hop mainstays Wiz Khalifa, the Clipse and Yelawolf will hold court on the “Paid Dues” stage. For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Nicki Minaj Doubles Up On Billboard Hot 100

Young Money MC features on Jay Sean, Sean Kingston singles — two of only four tracks debuting on this week’s chart. By Jayson Rodriguez Nicki Minaj is featured on two of the four tracks debuting this week on Billboard ‘s Hot 100 chart as she makes guest appearances on Sean Kingston’s “Letting Go (Dutty Love)” and Jay Sean’s “2012 (It Ain”t The End).” The chart successes follow the Young Money femcee’s own #1 single, “Your Love,” which currently sits in the top 20. But the Kingston and Jay Sean records prove an underlying point about Minaj: The Queens lyricist has managed to make her mark via collaborations; she sizzled on numbers with Usher ( “Lil Freak” ), Robin Thicke ( “Shakin’ It 4 Daddy” ) and Mariah Carey (“Up Out My Face”). “It feels crazy,” she told MTV News earlier this year about all the calls for collaborations. “I never imagined it. I never really imagined all of this. It feels good because when you’re working at something, sometimes you feel like you’ll never be recognized for your true talents. Especially when you’re a girl, you feel like people will only see one thing. But now when people hit me, it’s, ‘Could you be on this remix?’ It shows that they respect my talent, and that means a lot.” The animated rapper recently revealed the name of her forthcoming debut album, Pink Friday, via Twitter. She’s been mostly hush, though, regarding details of the project. But this month she explained to MTV News that she’s enjoying the process of crafting her first album. “The album is progressing miraculously , I would say,” Minaj told us. “It’s coming out way better than I could even have imagined or dreamed or hoped for.” Who do you think Nicki Minaj should work with next? Does Med Men Urge Us to Self-Destruct?

“I’ll admit that there are a few things I envy about Don Draper, but desultory sex in a sh*t-brown apartment with a hooker who smacks me in the face while my kids eat Thanksgiving dinner at their new Daddy’s place isn’t on the list.” And with that, the battle over what viewers can learn from Mad Men ‘s quality-of-life issues is engaged. Crystal Bowersox Defends Ex-Boyfriend In Redbook Interview

‘He’s getting hate mail and horrible messages online,’ ‘Idol’ runner-up tells the magazine. By Jocelyn Vena Crystal Bowersox Photo: FOX On the day of her big “American Idol” finale, Crystal Bowersox and her boyfriend, Tony Kusian, decided to end their relationship. And it seems that in the time since the breakup, fans have gotten the wrong idea about Kusian. Now Bowersox is making sure everyone knows that Kusian is not a bad guy. “I really want to clear up some misunderstood stuff about Tony’s and my breakup the night of the ‘Idol’ finale, and let people know how amazing he was through the whole process. I feel like he’s getting portrayed as this person who up and left me on the biggest day of my life, and that’s not the case at all. I mean, he’s getting hate mail and horrible messages online,” Bowersox told Redbook magazine. “So I want to make clear how amazing, kind, and generous a person he is, and that he truly considers my son his son and little Tony loves him,” she continued. “He’s been there since my son was about 3 months old. And in a lot of ways, he’s the perfect man; he really is. But ultimately, we both knew it wasn’t going to work out, considering the different lives we were leading. And it’s better to come to that realization than to have an unhappy relationship. Mommy and Daddy need to be happy in order for baby to be happy.” These days, Bowersox has enough other projects on her plate and is trying to balance it with raising her young son. “I like being busy; I like working hard. So in a lot of ways, everything that’s happening feels completely natural, like this is what was meant to be. This summer I’ll be all over the country on the American Idol tour , flying back and forth between that and Los Angeles. I think Tony will stay here with friends and family who are helping me look after him. But once it’s my own tour, he will definitely be with me,” she said. “And he’ll be able to see and have all these experiences, meet all these new and interesting people, do a lot of unique things a lot of kids don’t get to do. So it’s a lot of new stuff for both of us. I’m looking forward to it.” Once her hectic schedule settles down, she plans on settling down somewhere with her son. “Eventually I’d love to find us a more stable place. I’d like to be either here in L.A. or in New York, because that’s where Mommy can work,” she said. “But for now, Tony’s jet-setting, and he enjoys it. He loves going new places. And as cheesy as this is, home to me is where the heart is. I’m very at home in my skin. I’m at home when my son is with me.” Related Photos Crystal Bowersox’s ‘American Idol’ Experience

Tiger Woods Fires Back at Devon James

He may have had an affair with her (and many, many others), but no love child resulted from that fornication. Thus, Tiger Woods wants Devon James’ paternity claim axed. Through his lawyers, Tiger has fired back against one of his porn star mistresses and her paternity claims, asking the court to throw the case out for one simple reason: Tiger is not the father . Devon James filed papers back in June alleging that the golfer was the father of her nine-year-old son … despite DNA tests proving that the daddy was someone else. Attorneys for Woods have now filed legal documents declaring as fact that Woods is not the daddy of James’ son and, therefore, the paternity case should be history . Better luck next time, Dev. Much as a Tiger Woods love child wouldn’t surprise us at this point, a low-rent porn star mistress making up such a claim surprises us even less .
