Diddy Calls Rick Ross ‘A Very Unique Artist, ‘ Applauds New Mixtape

‘That Albert Anastasia [EP] is up there to me as one of the hardest mixtapes in history,’ Diddy says. By Shaheem Reid Diddy Photo: Amy Sussman/Getty Images On Tuesday (June 8), Diddy gave Rick Ross yet another major co-sign. “That Albert Anastasia [EP] is up there to me as one of the hardest mixtapes in history,” Puff said during a Def Jam conference call with Ross and DJ Khaled. A bold statement, but on top of being an O.G. in the game, Diddy said, he’s also a connoisseur of hip-hop, so he felt very comfortable applauding Ross. “He doesn’t talk about the regular stuff you hear cats talking about now,” Diddy said. “Everything he talks about is from his soul and from his heart. He approaches the record from a real standpoint. You can tell he’s approaching it from an honest standpoint. The tone of his voice, I’ve always been wanting to work with artists that have a certain vocal tone. He sounds like a giant. He is a giant, and he has that personality. “He’s a very unique artist,” he continued. “He’s bigger than just an artist; he’s a brand. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to work with him, because I felt like we could do bigger and better things. Having worked with Biggie, somebody that also was talking about things from the streets — I’m not comparing him to Biggie, before we start going down that road, but I am saying that there are similarities in the mental approach of a record that I do have a familiarity with.” Over the weekend in Phoenix, 50 Cent weighed in on Diddy’s alliance with Ross and Nicki Minaj. He hinted that he felt Lil’ Kim was justified when she said Diddy should be “ashamed” of himself for working with Minaj. “It’s probably a little more irritating [for Lil’ Kim] to see Puffy stand next to Nicki Minaj and for him to say that Ross reminds him of Biggie,” 50 said in an interview with Power 98.3 FM. ” ‘Cause that’s desperation on his part, ’cause his music sucks. It’s bad, so he has to stay close to something else that has momentum for it to be all right” Diddy seems unfazed of any criticism he may get. He said Nicki Minaj is a hip-hop great, and during Tuesday’s conference call, he made it clear he’s riding with Rick Ross. “To me, how anybody ever wanna take it, he’s the Biggie of the South. Anybody can take it how they wanna take it,” Diddy said. “I heard his album. His album is a classic. I heard the Albert Anastasia ; it has six joints y’all [DJs] should be playing right now. … He has the most exciting music in the streets right now, and he’s one of the realest n—as.” Diddy and Ross belong to the new clique of artists dubbed “The Supreme Team.” “Supreme Team, Puff Daddy put a movement together,” Khaled said during the call. “A bunch of fly dudes getting together, getting money, making great music, keeping it 100 at all times. I’m honored to be a part of the movement. Puff Daddy, of course my right-hand Ricky Ross, Red Caf

Bun B Brings Out Big Daddy Kane, Lupe Fiasco At Special New York Show

Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug also join UGK legend onstage. By Shaheem Reid and Rahman Dukes Bun B Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Bun B is one of the few MCs who’s had a successful career both as a solo artist and as a group member (he was half of the legendary UGK) and as a soloist. And the legendary Texas MC, who was in New York for Thursday night’s Southern-themed VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, put on a special show at downtown spot SOB’s. Billed as “Bun B and Friends,” it was difficult to forecast exactly who the MC would bring to rep with him, since he’s connected to so many MCs either through friendship, collaborations or both. And not surprisingly, he had a few surprises. First and foremost, Big Daddy Kane: The Brooklyn legend gave Bun a major co-sign, saying that the main reason he came to support was because he respects B’s mic game. “He’s a lyricist!” Kane affirmed. Another Kane highlight was the performance of his classic “Ain’t No Half-Steppin’.” Lupe Fiasco came out next and did “Superstar.” “My man Bun hit me and said, ‘I need you tonight,’ Lupe said. “Bun is the biggest superstar” “I gotta few more friends to bring out,” Bun said, taking the reigns of the stage once again. “Some of my homies from the H.” The Houston combo of Paul Wall and Slim Thug came out for “Still Tippin’.” “When you see Paul Wall and Slim Thug, you usually see one more guy,” Bun said. On cue, Chamillionaire came out for “Ridin’.” “I know ya’ll know this song, with all the police out here!,” Cham said. “I wanna let ya’ll know something. [Bun] is the originator of riding dirty. I wouldn’t have ever wrote this if I didn’t grow up on your music.” Bun said later in the show, “I gotta get ready to get outta here, but before I do, this is for all the players in the house.” He then went into UGK’s “International Players Anthem” before ending with “Gangsta.” Other friends of Bun in the house included newcomer Houston artist Just Britney, Termanology, Freddie Gibbs, Wale and Michael “5000” Watts. After the show, Bun basked in accolades and reflected on his set. “Man, it’s incredible,” he said. “We had an incredible show tonight. Bun B and friends. Just Brittany, Corey Mo, Termanology, Freddie Gibbs, Wale, Lupe, Big Daddy Kane, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug. It was a crazy show tonight. The greatest show you’ll ever get.” Related Artists Bun B Wale

Ivanka Trump is a Big, Lumpy Bitch of the Day

I think Ivanka Trump has been spending too much time sitting behind the desk her daddy bought her, working the job her daddy gave her, because she’s got that whole “I sit at a desk working for a billion dollar company, so I don’t have much time to work out, but I do have a lot of time to order in food, or get my assistant to order in food, because I’m just a lazy rich girl, riding the family wave”…and that doesn’t bother me…I mean I almost respect the fact that she wants to make something of herself, but she would have been better off just spending her dad’s money, spending the day hanging out at the spa, experimenting with expensive diets, until her very rich Jewish husband she converted for knocks her up, and she’s forced to spend 9 months waiting to pawn it off to the nanny, so that she can go back to shopping, spa days and sitting…what the fuck is she trying to prove?! She is fucking dumpy, lumpy and big. Sure she has a hired fat ass to stand next to and have hold her umbrella to make her look skinnier, but the spanx aren’t holding up and her ass is one a retired farmer may be impressed by becuase it reminds him of those erotic days he spent inseminating cows, but for me it’s too sloppy for a set of big tits to distract me from….I’m picky when it comes to commenting on pictures…but not so picky when it comes to real life…. DJ Khaled Calls Performing With Rick Ross, Diddy, T.I. ‘Legendary’

Super-DJ also shot remix video for ‘All I Do Is Win’ over the weekend, with cameos by Nicki Minaj, Fabolous, T-Pain and more. By Shaheem Reid DJ Khaled says every Memorial Day weekend in Miami is a “moooovie,” but the past few days in South Beach were extra crazy. “I got stories to tell,” Khaled told MTV News on Tuesday (June 1) about the festivities. “It’s gonna be a hot f—ing summer.” Khaled, Rick Ross and Diddy were virtually inseparable over the holiday, hitting club Cameo on Thursday, an assortment of hot spots on Friday, then Mansion on Saturday, the Best of the Best concert on Sunday and, oh yeah, they found time over the weekend to film a video for the remix of Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win,” off his Victory LP. “Call it Rick Ross-DJ Khaled-Supreme Team-Puff Daddy takeover on a whole ‘nother level,” Khaled said. “You already know every Memorial Day Weekend — Miami is ours. We always on fire. This year was special because we shot the remix video of ‘All I Do Is Win.’ Everyone showed up, from Jada to Busta to Puff Daddy to Nicki Minaj to Fabolous to T-Pain to myself. “I know it’s hard to say these types of things, [but] there’s only one remix video I know that’s exciting like this, it’s called ‘Flava in Ya Ear,’ ” Khaled insisted, recalling Craig Mack’s Hype Williams-directed black-and-white clip. “First of all, the [‘All I Do Is Win’] record is the biggest record in the country. To shoot the remix video is something so amazing. It’s coming out soon. I know there’s photos all over the Net, but it’s exciting.” But if there was a soundtrack to Memorial Day in Miami, it was Rick Ross’ The Albert Anastasia EP (out since Thursday), according to Khaled. The super-DJ said he could feel the tape’s immediate impact. “The whole mixtape is crazy. But it’s two records on there that’s lighting up the streets,” Khaled testified. “I don’t know if you remember when we dropped ‘Hustlin’.’ That’s the response we getting, but with two records at the same time. We tore up the club performing ‘All I Do Is Win.’ And the two records off the mixtape, one is called [Blowin’ Money Fast] ‘B.M.F.’ and the other is called ‘MC Hammer.’ These two records, quote me: DJ Khaled says these are going to be the biggest things in the street. It’s already causing problems. It’s already causing problems on a whole ‘nother level. Teflon Don the album — it’s a classic. These records right here are just waking the streets up on a whole ‘nother level. I don’t want nobody to get us confused.” The most exciting part about celebrating a big weekend is getting to interact with the fans, Khaled said. “We did club Mansion the other night. It was DJ Khaled, Puff Daddy, Ross was there, T.I. was there. It was amazing. It was a legendary moment. Everybody performed. I remember when we dropped the ‘B.M.F.’ and ‘MC Hammer’ record, I looked at Ross because the crowd took a deep breath. It had that ‘Hustlin’ ‘ feeling. Best of the Best, it was great because, me and Ross, I threw on ‘All I Do Is Win’ — the crowd went crazy. And we actually performed it three times. Ross, Busta, Nicki, Puff was all in the place to be. It all felt good.” Are you excited to see how the remix video for “All I Do Is Win” turned out? Tell us in the comments! Diddy Says Nicki Minaj Is ‘One Of The Great Ones’

‘Nicki is up there. Her story has just begun,’ the mogul says of managing the Young Money MC. By Jayson Rodriguez Diddy Photo: MTV News Diddy is expanding his empire. The mogul recently announced the opening of a management firm that he’ll oversee in addition to his existing business holdings, which include a restaurant, clothing line and, of course, Bad Boy Records. Rick Ross was the first to ink with Diddy , describing the knowledge Diddy has as “priceless.” And now, Nicki Minaj is finalizing the paperwork that will allow the Last Train to Paris superstar to guide her career. The Young Money femcee has already been in the studio with Diddy, and he’s been singing her praises. “Nicki Minaj, she’s definitely one of the great ones,” Diddy told MTV News, speaking publicly for the first time about his new signee. “She has a long way to go, but you know how we recognized LeBron [James] was a great one, Tiger [Woods] was a great one, and Kobe [Bryant] was a great one? Nicki is up there. Her story has just begun.” So far, Nicki Minaj has released only one single, the Sean Garrett-assisted “Massive Attack,” which boasts a Hype Williams-directed video. But she’s been prominently featured on a slew of other artist’s records, including Ludacris’ “My Chick Bad,” Robin Thicke’s “Shakin’ It 4 Daddy” and Mariah Carey’s “Up Out My Face.” In February, the Queens lyricist spoke with MTV News and said she’s in no rush to release her yet-untitled debut. “With the album, just like with my mixtape, I never like to rush it,” Minaj explained. “With the album, I think it’s more important that people get accustomed to seeing a female rapper again. Before I drop an album, people need to come out and see. People don’t even know what a female rapper does. We’re so not used to seeing it. “It’s nonexistent in categories. We don’t get nominated. I need to work [the people] up to accepting a female rapper again and accepting my style and all of that — then the album will come. Honestly, I’d love to put an album out this year, but I don’t believe in rushing things either. We’ll see.” Do you think Diddy will do a good job of managing artists like Nicki Minaj? ‘Sex And The City 2’ Samantha Wedding Pics Were A ‘Bait-And-Switch’

Kim Cattrall told director Michael Patrick King: ‘I want to come to the set someday in a wedding gown.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kim Catrall Photo: MTV News There have been many memorable weddings on “Sex and the City 2.” Who could forget when Charlotte married Trey? Or, for that matter, when Charlotte married Harry? And, there was that lovely little ceremony when Steve finally got Miranda to tie the knot. Then, of course, fans nearly died of happiness when Mr. Big and Carrie Bradshaw finally walked down the aisle in the first “Sex and the City” movie. So when fans saw paparazzi photos of Samantha (Kim Cattrall) in a wedding dress, they thought she was the latest “Sex and the City” girl to put a ring on it. Turns out, they got duped. “That was a completely conscious bait-and-switch,” “Sex and the City 2” director Michael Patrick King told MTV News. He said it was Cattrall’s devious mind that came up with the idea. “[She] came to me and said, ‘I want to come to the set someday in a wedding gown and make everybody think Samantha’s getting married,’ ” he recalled. “And I put it in my head [like], ‘That’s a funny idea.’ Forty-five minutes later, I turned around; she was crossing the street in a wedding gown. I thought, ‘Oh, today?’ ” Cattrall wasn’t able to pull it off all on her own; she got some help from the show’s iconic stylist. “Patricia Field got a gown that fit her within 40 minutes, and she had a veil on and she’s running across the street,” he said. “And what I loved about it was every blog that I saw was like, ‘This looks like a bad idea for a movie.’ And I was like, ‘It is!’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “Sex and the City 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Rick Ross Calls ‘Super High’ Video A ‘Pivotal Point’ In His Career

‘It was a much bigger video than I have done previously,’ he tells MTV News. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: Akshay Bhansali When hip-hop fans sit back and watch his videos, Rick Ross wants to give them the same chills he got as a youngster when he saw new clips from Eazy-E and Big Daddy Kane. The Bawse released his new video for “Super High” on Sunday, and in the climatic scene, he gets to have an Arthur Fonzarelli moment: wearing a leather jacket and sitting on a fly motorcycle with an even flyer check on his arm. “It’s a real pivotal point,” Ross said about the video, in which he and leading lady Stacey Dash get to chill under the sun on a mountaintop. “Just for me to be sitting on a Harley Davidson. … It was a much bigger video than I have done previously. … Just to be sitting on the mountaintop, my arm around Stacey Dash. I’m burning in between takes. [Director] F. Gary Gray is in a helicopter flying above me, and the pilot is the same pilot that is flying the chopper through the tunnel in ‘The Italian Job.’ That’s F. Gary’s partner. We met, and he did it as love. “I’m just sitting there thinking of all this, it just gets deep,” he added about the surreal moment. “It just lets me know my mind is very powerful. It’s very powerful as long as I stay focused. I can keep getting creative and raise the bar.” Ross said to get the ageless Dash to appear in his clip was just a matter of pressing send. “She is most definitely a beautiful young lady,” he said. “She’s also a class act. She was so youthful, vibing, having a good time. So I take my hat off to her. I wanted to do something different, so I put an actress into it. Someone who I was a fan of, someone I wanted to meet. I threw a name at [F. Gary], he texted the number real quick.” What did you think of Ross’ epic video? Share your thoughts in the comments! Michael Douglas Sees Son Imprisonment As Blessing In Disguise

insidesocal World renowned American actor producer Michael Douglas sees son’s imprisonment as a blessing in disguise. Cameron Douglas was sentenced five years on drug charges. “My son has not been sober for this length of time since he was 13 years old,” worried Daddy Douglas told Today show, in an interview airing Monday. “So he was going to be dead or somebody was gonna kill him, and I think he has a chance to start a new life and he knows that. And from my understanding, it’s going to take that amount of time for him to rebuild and start himself afresh.” Cameron Douglas was arrested last year for allegedly dealing methamphetamine. Methamphetamine is also known as metamfetamine (INN),  dextromethamphetamine, methylamphetamine, N-methylamphetamine, desoxyephedrine, and colloquially as meth or crystal meth) is a psychoactive stimulant drug. Last month, he was sentenced to jail time for conspiring to sell crystal meth and for heroin possession. “He’s a great young man,” the elder Douglas adds. “And I wouldn’t be supporting him if I didn’t feel that way.” The Oscar winner (who is revising his famous role of Gordon Gekko in the upcoming Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps).also admits he has grappled with his own sense of responsibility. “I’ve taken blame about being a bad father – if being a bad father is working your butt off trying to create a career at one time,” he says. “When I had Cameron I was early in my career and as opposed to most jobs, making movies takes you all around the world, so you were absentee in that sense.” But these days Douglas – who has two children, Dylan, 9, and Carys, 7, with his current wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones – says his family life is much more settled. “My priorities have completely changed,” says the actor. “My marriage and my families come certainly before my career.” Michael Douglas Sees Son Imprisonment As Blessing In Disguise is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading
