Jon Stewart Blasts BP for Having 760 Pre-Spill Safety Violations (Video)

The Daily Show was unfortunately on hiatus during the last couple weeks of the BP Gulf oil spill, leaving a void where negligent companies should be lampooned and scathing satire delivered. But fear not, everyone! The spill is still continuing unabated , more than 40 days after it began, and there looks to be no end in sight — which means plenty more time for BP Gulf spill satire! Hell, we could be laughing until Christmas, according to some reports, since that’s how long experts say it might ta… Read the full story on TreeHugger

90-Year-Old Granny Arrested For Dealing Pot; Had 170 Pounds

90-year-old grandmother suspected of selling cannabis was arrested Friday after police raided her home and found more than 170 pounds of marijuana. A squad of armed South African police officers with drug dogs stormed the elderly woman's home and discovered the pot stashed in multiple bags, according to the Daily Mail. “This lady was quiet, old and looked like an angel sent from God,” said the rather poetically inclined Police Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng. “But we received a tip-off two weeks ago that a lot of people were going into her house and coming out looking happy,” Mokheseng said. Wow, happy people? That will not do! Obviously, law enforcement was called for, don't you think? “We sent in a drugs team who were prepared for a shootout, but they soon realized there was nobody to fight,” Mokheseng said. Police found three types of marijuana, locally known as dagga, stashed in the pensioner's garden shed. The elderly lady, who said she lived alone in the four-room home east of Johnannesburg, South Africa, was arrested and taken into custody. “She will spend the weekend behind bars, educating the police officers on what she was doing,” Inspector Mokheseng said. “This was quite an extensive operation going on, with three types of the drug — called Swazi, Local and Skans,” Mokheseng said. Wow, three separate strains? Granny's got it goin' on. “We found money in plastic bags ready for the bank,” Mokheseng said. “She was making quite a lot of cash.” “We understand she has many children and grandchildren, and we are trying to contact them,” the police inspector said. The woman is scheduld to appear before Alberton Magistrates' Court on Monday. She is charged with possession of illegal substances and selling cannabis. added by: Omnomynous

Do Not Effin Touch Justin Bieber!

We have terrible news for teenage girls around the world: Justin Bieber does not like to be touched. At least not if a recent story in The Daily Telegraph is the be believed. According to that newspaper , Justin appeared on an Australian morning show recently. As he was being led to a section of the set, he whipped around and said to the station’s floor manager: Don’t ever fucking touch me again . Upon hearing this, David Koch (the host of the show), recounted Bieber’s sound guy saying “don’t take offense, mate, he tells us that all the time.” Seven employees allegedly backed up this story to the newspaper. While Bieber didn’t address the scandal directly, he did post the following Tweet this week: family time with my mom couldnt come at a better time….i was raised to respect others and not gossip…nor answer gossip with anger. i know my friends family and fans know the person i am. hearing adults spread lies and rumors is part of the job i guess. but i all i have to say is…kill em with kindness. Perhaps Justin should call up crush Kim Kardashian . She could teach him a lot about handling bad press, along with other things. Bieber did perform on the morning show, following this reported brief fracas. Watch his cuteness in action below. Australian Performance

Rick Ross’ Albert Anastasia Is ‘Strictly For Teflon Don Lovers’

Mixtape is composed of ‘completely new music, new beats’ Ross says, in Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: Akshay Bhansali The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive Big up to the homey, video director Spiff TV (Waka Flocka Flame’s “O Let’s Do It” remix and a slew of Rick Ross clips including “Rich Off Cocaine”). His close friend and manager Rick Ross may be doing huge-budgeted mini-movies with the likes of Diddy and director F. Gary Gray , but the Miami Bawse promises that he’ll never stop doing the straight-to-the-Net videos Spiff directed — videos that his fans have grown to love over the past couple of years. “Of course, man. You know we’ll never stop releasing those black-and-whites, those virals,” Ross explained. “We’re actually editing a slew of them right now. So get ready. … That’s just another way we bring [the music] to life. We add color to the situation. We really love to be a part of the music and the history.” “When I hear a dope Busta Rhymes record, I feel like that’s a part of history, and I want to be a part of that,” he added about his rampage of creating unofficial remixes by adding verses to singles like Drake’s “Find Your Love,” Rocko’s “Maybe” and Erykah Badu’s “Window Seat.” “I want to be a part of that music. I want to put a verse on that. I don’t look at it as every record I jump on or every record I do for someone as necessarily more shine. It’s not necessarily the case. It’s always being a part of that moment in time.” Thursday (May 27) is a huge moment in time as T.I. is slated to drop his F— a Mixtape and Ross is putting out his Albert Anastasia EP. Both are mixtapes and both are free for fans. Another thing both tapes have in common is that they are composed strictly of new music. “Of course not,” Ross answered about whether or not we would hear some of those unofficial remixes on the tape. “You mentioned ‘Window Seat.’ Shout out to the beautiful Erykah Badu, we got some things we’re working on too. But this new mixtape we’re releasing right before Memorial weekend, it’s gonna be completely new music, new beats. Dope street ideas. It’s strictly for the Teflon Don lovers. It’s strictly for everyone that’s excited for [the album’s release date] July 6.” One new track that also won’t make the cut for the Double A EP is the “Teflon Don Freestyle.” He’s not saving it for the album either. It’s just out there. “Nah, that ain’t gonna be on the album,” he said. “I got stuff that’s much more potent than that. It’s crazy the way I love that ‘Teflon Don’ freestyle. But it’s like, when I started writing it, it had the potential to be big. When I finished it, compared to other bodies of work, it wasn’t even worth me putting a chorus on it. I love it, and I feel that’s a part of my mixtape arrogance. It’s like it’s a gift. I know it’s dope and I know it would be a single on other albums. But this ain’t even gonna make the mixtape. Just for online. This is just for MTV, this is for the bloggers, this just for the people who can’t wait.” Albert Anastasia EP Track Listing According To The Maybach Music Group 1. Diddy Intro (produced by Infamous) 2. MC Hammer (produced by Lex Luger) 3. Blowin’ Money Fast (B.M.F.) (featuring Styles P, produced by Lex Luger) 4. Money Maker (produced by Boi-1da) 5. What if the Tea Party was black?

Imagine that hundreds of black protesters were to descend upon Washington DC and Northern Virginia, just a few miles from the Capitol and White House, armed with AK-47s, assorted handguns, and ammunition. And imagine that some of these protesters —the black protesters — spoke of the need for political revolution, and possibly even armed conflict in the event that laws they didn’t like were enforced by the government? Would these protester — these black protesters with guns — be seen as brave defenders of the Second Amendment, or would they be viewed by most whites as a danger to the republic? What if they were Arab-Americans? Because, after all, that’s what happened recently when white gun enthusiasts descended upon the nation’s capital, arms in hand, and verbally announced their readiness to make war on the country’s political leaders if the need arose. added by: WarrenOatesLives

The Routemaster returns

Story by Mat Osman, le cool London Photo courtesy Transport for London Non-Londoners look away now. Because there are certain things that the rest of the country finds a little, well, odd about its capital citizens. Like the fact we take the most disgusting of all fish, the eel, as our signature dish and then further ruin them by encasing them in jelly. Or that a person can have a screaming fit on a crowded tube train and not a soul will say a word. And the fact we care about our buses. When the time came to retire the old Routemaster buses – you remember, the ones you could jump on and off when, inevitably, the bus was moving slower than walking pace – there was uproar. And it was a cross-party uproar. Tories didn’t like part of our heritage disappearing. Left-wingers saw it as the people’s will being trampled. And the rest of us just resented sitting in a traffic jam for 20 minutes while the bus stop was just 200 yards away. So come the last mayoral election, with a city sliding into debt, the Olympics hoving into view, and knife crime seemingly endemic, what was near the top of London’s agenda? Boris’s promise to reintroduce the Routemaster, that’s what. So now, deep into the Johnsonian reign – the Routemasters return. It’s a new design from Heatherwick Studio, that in truth bears little resemblance to the old Routemaster, (and, as was amusingly pointed out on Twitter, with a fringe that makes it look appealingly like the first Emo-bus). Reasons to be cheerful? The aforementioned fringe, the chance of swinging casually from the pole by the open back door like some sixties’ Carnaby Street cat, and not one but two staircases to avoid slowcoaches. There’s also a promise of a conductor; good news for a city where the bendy-buses are known simply as ‘free buses’ to millions of passengers. Not so good? Well, the open platform – the very thing that connects the new design with the Routemaster name – can be closed when there is ‘no conductor’ which, given cost-cutting measures, you can bet will be frequently. And these are only mock-ups – the real things won’t on our streets until late 2011.
