A Lil Positivity: $50K Trayvon Martin Scholarship Offered To High School Seniors In Florida

Trayvon ‘s death was not in vain… Trayon Martin Scholarship Offered In Florida Via HuffPo reports: An Orlando auto group, law firm and black fraternity are among those offering $50,000 as a scholarship to four graduating seniors from Trayvon Martin’s high school in Dade County. The donors, including the Boyland Auto Group and Invictus Law Group, are to present the money to the Trayvon Martin Foundation and his parents tomorrow in Isleworth. The donors also include Delta Xi Lambda, a black fraternity based in Orlando, and Boyz-4-Lyfe, a group of long-time friends. The money goes to the foundation, which will divide it between four 2014 graduating seniors of Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School in Miami, where Trayvon was enrolled at the time of his death, according to a news release announcing the gift. Its purpose is to help minority teenagers, donors wrote. “We are doing what we can to make the world a better place by not being divisive but by uplifting our community through educational opportunities for kids who otherwise would not have the same opportunity,” the donors said in their announcement. Trayvon, an unarmed black 17-year-old, was killed Feb. 26, 2012, in Sanford by George Zimmerman, a light-skinned Neighborhood Watch volunteer who had earlier called police, describing the Miami Gardens teenager as suspicious. One time is on that BS again. Via NY Daily News reports : Lamis Chapman, 12, and Khalia Wilson, 14, were playing handball at 9:30 p.m. in a park near their home in the Lester Patterson Houses in Mott Haven. The girls said police approached them, and told them to leave because the park was closed. Police followed them out, the girls said, and one grabbed Khalia from behind in a chokehold, wrestling her to the ground. “They said they asked for ID. I didn’t hear them,” Khalia said. Lamis said she told the cop to get off her sister, and the officer’s female partner threw Lamis to the ground. As they lay on the ground, the girls, who are Muslim, said the cops ripped off their hijabs, a Muslim headscarf. “They didn’t say anything,” Khalia added. “I kept saying, ‘I’m 14! What are you doing? We’re not bad kids.’” A crowd quickly gathered, with many pleading with police to let the girls go, the sisters said. Police called for backup, and within moments, dozens of cops swarmed the scene. The girls’ brother, Shytike Wilson, 15, saw the cops straddling his sisters from his window and raced downstairs. “I asked them why my sisters were in handcuffs,” Shytike said. “They charged me, picked me up, and slammed me on the floor.” Jonathan Harris, an 18-year-old college student, said he heard the girls’ screams and ran to the park. He said he told the cops to leave the girls alone, then took out his cell phone to record the female officer atop Lamis. “Come here, you little motherf—er,” the cop said, according to Harris. “You like recording?” Harris said he sprinted towards a nearby building, but an officer caught him and tackled him, pushing his face in the dirt, and wrenching his arm behind his back. He said one officer punched him in his eye while he was down. “Where’s the phone?” the officer screamed, Harris said. “I’ll break your arm.” Harris said he was also pepper-sprayed during the melee. Police claim that cops were in the process of escorting the kids out of the park when their brother grabbed one of the girls away from the officers. Harris was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental function. Police claim two cops were hospitalized for scrapes, bruises and sprains. Aaryn Gries: Evicted From Big Brother, GRILLED By Julie Chen on Racist Comments

Aaryn Gries was finally evicted from the Big Brother house Thursday night, and was promptly grilled by Julie Chen about her comments this summer. Her explanation, in abridged form? She’s not racist, she’s just Texan! Aaryn Gries Evicted on Big Brother Aaryn Gries , of course, mocked Asians, African-Americans AND homosexuals this season. Frequently, and often seeming to take pleasure in doing so. She had to know the reckoning was coming, but when she said “I did not mean to ever come off as racist,” well, the audience laughed in her face. And booed. A lot. The longer explanation: “In Texas, we say things. Sometimes we joke and we don’t mean it. I feel how bad it is being seen and how I’ve come across to people.” How bad it is being seen? Is she for real? “I don’t want to seem like that kind of person. That was not meant to be serious and if I said those things, I feel horrible for that. I regret that,” she added. Among her (many) choice lines: Telling an Asian cast member to “go make rice,” and later quipping, “I probably look like a squinty Asian right now.” Gries also said “no one’s going to vote for whoever that queer puts up” while addressing gay housemate Andy Herren, and made other racist comments. Still, Aaryn told host Chen that she doesn’t remember ever making a racist comment in the house, adding, “I apologize to anyone I offended for that.” Julie, at that point, read off a list of some of the offensive comments she made, leaving Aaryn frozen in her seat, and it was pretty awesome. Not awesome that such a person exists, of course. That part is still incredibly depressing and a bad sign for society. But awesome that Julie called her out. Gries, who will stay sequestered from the outside world in the jury house until the show ends next month, still has no idea her modeling agency fired her . Enjoy the rest of your unemployed life. The star’s latest movie hits theaters today and let’s just say critics around the country have less than favorable things to say about the thriller, which also features Ethan Hawke and Jon Voight. She must have really wanted him dead . Woman Hires Hitman To Kill Husband You know times are hard when people are paying in stamps to murk people. According to The NY Daily News She went postal. A Manhattan woman was arrested Thursday for hiring a hit man to kill her husband in exchange for $60,000 in rare stamps and jewelry, the Daily News has learned. Elena Sava-Adams, 57, allegedly wanted banker husband Irving Adams to be run over by a car because of an argument they had over finances. The Israel Discount Bank of New York bigwig told police he’s been unemployed for five years, law enforcement sources said. “She’s at war with her husband over money,” a source told the News. The ruthless woman went to an intermediary, telling him she wanted her hubby to be lured to Brooklyn because she figured there would be fewer surveillance cameras there than in lower Manhattan, where the couple live. He told her the hit man would cost her $10,000, which she “upgraded” to a valuable jewelry and German stamp collection since she didn’t have the dough. SMH…..but there’s more…. But instead of cashing in on the postage labels and baubles, the intermediary went to cops at the 61 Precinct on Monday and disclosed the psycho spouse’s plans, the sources said. Detectives sought the help of an investigator in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office who has experience playing a hit man in multiple cases. A meeting was set up Thursday in a parking lot in Sheepshead Bay – which Sava-Adams chose because her mother-in-law lives there – and they got in the undercover’s car and drove to Shore Road to discuss the murder, sources said. Little did she know, the meeting was being taped, and she was arrested as soon as the incriminating statements slipped out of her mouth, sources said. She was supposed to tell the hit man in a couple of days when she wanted the murder carried out, but instead she’s being questioned at the 61 Precinct station house. Investigators believe the batty wife would have collected his insurance money, but it’s unclear how much Irving Adams is worth. Having someone ran over by a car because of finances is extreme. Clint Eastwood, 83, has separated from second wife Dina Eastwood (nee Ruiz) after 17 years of marriage, Dina confirms exclusively to Us Weekly. (Eastwood’s manager, when contacted about the split by Us, said only, “I know nothing about that.”) The former TV news reporter, 48, says that she and Eastwood remain close but have been living separately for some time. In fact, a source tells Us the two actually split more than a year ago, in June 2012. “Clint fell out of love with Dina a long time ago,” the insider says, noting that the separation was “amicable.” Married since March 31, 1996, Dina and the Million Dollar Baby director have one daughter together, 16-year-old Morgan. Eastwood is also dad to seven other kids, though he has only been married once before. (He and first wife Maggie Johnson had a daughter, Alison, and a son, Kyle; the rest of his kids are from other relationships.) Morgan and Dina appeared together — along with Eastwood’s daughter Francesca, from his relationship with Titanic actress Frances Fisher — on the E! reality series Mrs. Eastwood & Company. This is crazy . White Couple Sets Black Neighbors’ House On Fire It’s so sad and pathetic that these racist incidents are still taking place in 2013. According to The NY Daily News Not everyone in America has the same dream. A Missouri couple pleaded guilty on Wednesday to violating the civil rights of their African-American neighbors by setting fire to the family’s home in Independence with a Molotov cocktail and writing Nazi slogans and swastikas on the driveway. Logan J. Smith, 25, and Victoria A. Cheek-Herrera, 34, admitted to conspiring to commit what prosecutors called the “racially motivated” crimes. “By pleading guilty, Smith and Cheek-Herrera admitted that on June 26, 2008, they conspired to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate an African-American couple and their minor children in the free exercise of their constitutional rights to occupy and rent their home in Independence, because of their race and color,” the Kansas City division of the FBI said in a statement. In court, Smith admitted drawing swastikas and “White Power” on the family’s driveway before filling a bottle with gasoline, inserting a rag, lighting the fire bomb and tossing it at the home. During the attack, Smith also admitted to donning a swastika on his forehead and shouting “Heil Hitler.” “You’re pleading guilty because you are guilty, is that correct?” U.S. District Judge Brian Wimes asked the defendant. “Yes, sir,” Smith responded. Smith and Cheek-Herrera each face a maximum penalty of 20 years and fines of up to $500,000. Throw their azzes underneath the jail.

Lamar Odom Returns Home, Reportedly "Ready to Listen"

Step one is accomplished: Lamar Odom has reportedly returned home and is living again with Khloe Kardashian. The basketball star had allegedly gone missing last week, though various source claims Khloe was aware of his whereabouts all along and was desperately trying to help with a purported drug problem. Either way, no reports disputed the fact that Khloe had kicked Lamar out of their home because he refused to seek treatment for a crack cocaine addiction . But insiders now confirm to TMZ that Odom moved back into his Los Angeles home yesterday. It’s unclear where his relationship with Khloe stands, but at least he is now “open to reason,” a source says, and “listening to the people who love him the most.” So a lot has changed in a few days regarding Odom’s outlook and we can all hope he soon realizes that serious help is required. Numerous NBA stars have also reached out to Odom (we know Kevin Durant wished him well in a brief interview last week), but Lamar is supposedly keeping largely to himself. Still, he’s “receptive” to treatment and the Kardashians are looking at this as a positive step. Is Lamar Odom on Crack?
