Quote Of The Day: Anderson Cooper Finally Announces To The World… “The Fact Is, I’m Gay And Proud”

The silver fox is here and queer ladies and gentlemen Anderson Cooper has some news to share. “The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud,” the CNN anchor wrote Monday in an open letter to his longtime friend Andrew Sullivan of the Daily Beast. The host of Anderson Cooper: 360, 45, also says that he has waited until now to announce the fact because, “As long as a journalist shows fairness and honesty in his or her work, their private life shouldn’t matter.” Cooper, who also hosts his own syndicated talk daytime show Anderson, addressed the subject after Sullivan – a British writer who is openly gay and Catholic – put the question to him after a cover story in the current Entertainment Weekly focused on how gay people in the public life are currently coming out in understated and matter-of-fact manners. “Andrew, as you know, the issue you raise is one that I’ve thought about for years. Even though my job puts me in the public eye, I have tried to maintain some level of privacy in my life. Part of that has been for purely personal reasons. I think most people want some privacy for themselves and the people they are close to,” Cooper began. “It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long,” he continued. “I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something – something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid. This is distressing because it is simply not true.” Anderson Cooper has finally publicly acknowledged the long-standing speculation about his sexuality by coming out of the closet as a gay man. How do you feel about Anderson Cooper deciding to live open and honestly now? Source

Drake/Chris Brown Brawl Club Loses Liquor License

New York State Liquor Authority charges W.i.P. with 17 violations, saying the club poses a ‘threat to public health and safety.’ By Rob Markman W.i.P. nightclub Photo: The fall-out from June 14’s bottle-bashing brawl reportedly between Drake’s and Chris Brown’s camps continues. On Tuesday, The New York State Liquor Authority ordered an emergency suspension of W.i.P.’s liquor license, the club where the incident took place. W.i.P., with its adjacent (and affiliated) club Greenhouse, were both slapped with 17 separate violations. The New York Daily News is reporting that R. Kelly, New York Knicks basketball star Iman Shumpert and the cast of the upcoming film “Savages” all had scheduled parties at the clubs, but now will have to look for new venues. “The SLA will not tolerate violent bars that break the law,” SLA Chairman Dennis Rosen said in a press release obtained by MTV News. “This should serve as a message that this agency will not hesitate to take immediate action when licensees pose a threat to public health and safety.” The release cites 10 separate assaults and altercations at the two clubs, the earliest occurring on March 11 and the latest being the bottle-throwing incident which left quite a few patrons injured, including NBA star Tony Parker , who is now suing the club for $20 million after he suffered a cut in his left eye. While both Drake and Chris Brown and their respective entourages have been implicated in the brawl, police have yet to charge any of the men with a crime. Meek Mill, whose has also seen his name circulate in the brawl rumors, will appear on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” and address the drama starting at 4 p.m. Related Artists Drake Chris Brown

‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Fans Can’t Wait For Elevator Scene

‘It’s pretty much my favorite part,’ one ‘Fifty Shades’ reader tells MTV News of planned movie. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Uptin Saiidi “Fifty Shades of Grey” book cover Photo: NEW YORK, NY — Perhaps it’s too hot for even an R rating, but regardless of an MPAA ruling, this much is clear: A “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie is inevitable. Fans are chomping down on their leather belts of choice in anticipation of the live-action take on Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele — indeed, the dream casting calls are already pouring out with no signs of slowing . With so many iconic scenes already in the making, it’s almost impossible to ask fans to pick only one that they’re most excited to see— but for some “Fifty Shades” readers, the decision is a no-painer. “The scene I would like to see the most on the big screen is the elevator scene,” fan Sean Barnett told MTV News during a “Fifty Shades of Grey” signing at Barnes & Noble in New York’s Union Square last month. Fellow fan Morgan Nazarzideh had to agree: “When the movie comes out, I’m waiting for the elevator scene to happen. It’s pretty much my favorite part.” They weren’t alone in their requests for a raunchy elevator scene, but that wasn’t the only moment fans are pining for. In fact, “Fifty Shades” readers Christina Regalbuto and Jennifer Lubrano are already looking toward the potential sequel, “Fifty Shades Darker,” to see how steamy Christian and Ana’s relationship can get. “The scene I’m excited to see is from the second book, when she finally gets to touch him for the first time,” said Regalbuto, referring to the long-awaited moment in E.L. James’ second “Fifty Shades” novel. Stemming from that, Lubrano added: “Also from the second book, when he proposes to her. That’s a big, dramatic scene.” Fan Manuel Lemus said that, in the end, there are simply too many coveted moments from “Fifty Shades of Grey” to pick only one most-anticipated movie moment. “I’m excited to see everything, to be honest with you,” he said. “I really enjoyed reading this book. I’m excited. I can’t wait [for the movie].” Which “Fifty Shades” scenes are you most looking forward to seeing? Weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section below! SpaceGhostPurrp And A$AP Rocky Rift: Beyond Repair?

It was all good just a week ago, but now SpaceGhostPurrp and A$AP Rocky are at odds. By Rob Markman SpaceGhostPurrp Photo: It was all good just a week ago, but now SpaceGhostPurrp and his Raider Klan have fallen out with A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob. Purrp — who was responsible for producing Rocky’s “Keep It G” and “Pretty Flacko” and rhymed alongside Rock on “Purple Swag: Chapter 2” — sat with MTV News in May and broke down his relationship with the A$AP Mob, but last week, he revealed in a YouTube video that their union is no longer. “We Raider Klan, man. We got our own sh– going on. And that’s how the f— it is. We ain’t A$AP,” SpaceGhost said in the video, which has since been taken down. “I showed love to them n—as last year and some sh– went down and we don’t f— with each other no more.” It was a different story from the one Purrp told MTV News when he sat down with us in May. “Me and the Mob, we reached out to each other through the Internet. We showed love to each other. We had a good time,” he said of his A$AP relationship, which has since soured. “I came up to New York and met up with him, we got to know each other real well, and then we just became a little family. “I’m affiliated with A$AP. If I see him, we still do our handshake, we still got love, we’re real close homeys,” he added. Still, Purrp — who released his debut album, Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, last week — has always made a clear distinction between the A$AP Mob and his Raider Klan crew, which originated in his hometown of Miami. The beef is said to have started after Rocky’s groupmate, A$AP Twelvyy, got into an altercation with Matt Stoops from Purrp’s Raider Klan. Music site Mostly Junk Food has posted screen shots of deleted SpaceGhost tweets in which he accuses Twelvyy of attacking Stoops. While the beef does sound serious, Purrp told MTV News of a misunderstanding that he and Wiz Khalifa had prior to working together on Wiz’s Taylor Allderdice mixtape. Maybe after a conversation, he and Rocky can reach a similar accord. Do you believe SpaceGhostPurrp and A$AP Rocky can work out their differences? Let us know in the comments. SMH: South Carolina Mom Stuck With Cleanup Bill After Son Is Killed By An Undocumented Drunk Driver

This is just horrible… A drunk driver killed this woman’s son last year and she got stuck with the cleanup bill. A South Carolina woman faced tragedy last June when a drunk driver killed her oldest son. But the still-grieving mother, Loretta Robinson, is now being billed for the various charges associated with the accident, including a $50 charge to clean her son’s blood off the road. Justin Walker, Robinson’s deceased son, was not found at fault for the accident. The accused driver, Anna Gonzalez, tearfully pleaded guilty in court last Tuesday, the Daily Mail reported. According to MSNBC, the undocumented woman had been living in the United States for 12 years, but never got a South Carolina driver’s license. Gonzalez was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Robinson was on hand in court to express her outrage at the bills she’s received since losing her son. “I had to pay to have the vehicle towed. I had to pay for the vehicle to be removed and to clean up the street from Justin’s blood,” Robinson said. According to WYFF, Robinson also paid to have the wrecked car stored for months in case there was a trial. The South Carolina State Office of Victims Assistance offers a combined total of up to $15,000 for medical, funeral, counseling and wage compensation for the families of victims of crime. According to NBC Greenville, Robinson received some money from the victim’s assistance office, but it did not cover the costs of cleanup or storage. There has been some recent controversy about the crime rate among undocumented immigrants in the United States. In March, the Scott Gardiner Act, a bill that would authorize the deportation of any undocumented immigrant convicted of drunk driving, was reintroduced to Congress by Representatives Sue Myrick and Mike McIntyre, News 14 Carolina reported. “We have to be able, as a country, to figure out a way with people here who are illegal and commit crimes,” Robinson told WYFF. We really feel for Ms. Robinson. Our prayers are with you. R.I.P. Justin! Source WYFF

Bravo Confirms Departure of Jill Zarin from The Real Housewives of New York City

It’s been known for awhile, but now it’s confirmed: Jill Zarin will not appear again on The Real Housewives of New York City . Zarin herself commented on her exit last September, while rumors then surfaced that Ramona Singer was responsible for the ousting. But Bravo has finally released a statement of its own on the matter, stating for the record: “We wish Jill the best, but there is no consideration of her returning to the series. The network, of course, overhauled this franchise’s cast with Heather Thomson, Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher heading into its fifth season. Ratings have been down a bit, however, leading to chatter that Zarin could return. Jill prompted that talk, too, when she told The New York Daily News recently: “I’ve reached out and offered [Bravo] any support they need” in order to boost viewership. That will not come to fruition, though, it’s now clear, while no new reality show featuring Zarin is in the works, either. [Photo: WENN.com]
