People Magazine’s “Only Black Senior Editor Ever” Files Suit Claiming Racial Discrimination

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out People ain’t really about OUR people . Black Editor From People Magazine Reveals Discriminatory Practices, Magazine Only Wanted Stories About Whites Now a former employee is spilling the beans on racist practices going on behind the scenes at the publication. According to NY Daily News reports : The recently axed lone black editor of People says she was discriminated against by her boss, and that the popular magazine is biased against African-Americans in general. People is “a discriminatory organization run entirely by white people who intentionally focus the magazine on stories involving white people and white celebrities,” Tatsha Robertson’s bombshell lawsuit says. The 48-year-old Robertson, “the only Black Senior Editor the magazine has ever had,” was laid off in May, according to the suit. She says only five of the mag’s 110 employees were black, and that now-former executive editor Betsy Gleick treated her like a second class-citizen when she came to the magazine from another Time Inc. publication, Essence, in 2010. “You need to talk like everyone else here. You’re not at Essence anymore,” Gleick is quoted in the suit as saying. She says Gleick left her out of important meetings, and denigrated her attempts to do more stories on black people. Robertson said when she pitched a story about an African-American model who’d been killed, Gleick told her the victim looked like a “slut” and the magazine wasn’t interested. “You know the rule — white suburban women in distress,” she said, according to the suit. She also allegedly said the magazine was only interested in stories involving “white, middle-class suburbia.” Gleick, 51, followed Robertson out the door in June. A spokesperson for People said, “People declines to comment.” When the magazine does put black people on its cover, they’re held to a different standard, the suit says. Although People “put Trayvon Martin on its cover, Ms. Gleick was completely obsessed with attempting to unearth any potential negative fact about him before doing so,” the suit says. “Ms. Gleick repeatedly questioned whether he was a ‘good kid,’ yet never made efforts to vet white victims of crime.” Cover stories on African-Americans were a rarity — the suit says a “black individual was the main feature” on the cover “exactly twice” in 2013, when the magazine put out 60 issues. “In total since 2010, only 14 out of 265 covers have been focused on African-American individuals,” the suit says. And since 1990, “only three individuals selected as the ‘Most Beautiful Person’ have been black, out of 25 selections.” Robertson’s lawyer, David Gottlieb of Wigdor LLP, said, “The media has a responsibility to report and act with integrity. People Magazine has betrayed that responsibility by engaging in discrimination, both in its pages and through its employment practices.” The suit seeks unspecified money damages from People, Time Inc. and Gleick. SMH @ the editor calling the dead model a slut. We hope Robertson wins her case and the magazine is forced to change it’s terrible practices. Handout/People

Lisa Vanderpump Ordered to Pay $100K to Waitress in Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

A jury ordered The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Lisa Vanderpump to pay $100,000 in a lawsuit brought forward by former employee Karina Bustillos. Lisa Vanderpump, Dog Scoff at Verdict Lisa Vanderpump was shocked to learn the verdict in a sexual harassment lawsuit brought forth by Bustillos, a waitress at her restaurant Villa Blanca. Bustillos went to court after she was allegedly “manhandled” by another staff member on Lisa Vanderpump’s payroll – the manager, Michael Govia. A jury decided to hold Villa Blanca at fault and has hereby ordered Bustillos be paid $100,000 in punitive damages as a result of the alleged harassment. Lisa Vanderpump’s attorney, outraged at the verdict, plans to file an appeal, saying “We are in absolute shock at the amount of punitive damages that were awarded. “Especially in light of nominal compensatory damages awarded and the lack of evidence … We plan to file an appeal and are confident that we will prevail.” According to reports, the waitress was allowed to go after Villa Blanca for punitive damages because the jury “found the restaurant acted with malice.” No one, however, expected that Bustillos would be awarded such a large sum of money. Bustillos was happy with the verdict, though … not surprisingly. Lisa Vanderpump might be outraged on principle, but if you watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online , what’s a hundred grand to this woman? Heck, she might spend that much to hire best legal team in the country just to appeal this verdict to death and win simply for the sake of winning. She and beloved dog Jiggy didn’t seem too concerned in the video above. Regardless, apparently Kyle Richards and Brandi Glanville aren’t the only ones hating on Lisa. Really?? Driver Who Killed Teen Bicyclist Sues His Family For $1 Million Claiming “Pain & Suffering”

Driver Who Killed Teen Bicyclist Sues his Family For $1 Million via Fox News The family of a teenage bicyclist who died after being hit from behind by an SUV is now being sued for more than $1 million by the woman who was behind the wheel. Sharlene Simon claims in court papers the accident caused her “great pain and suffering” and accuses her victim Brandon Majewski 17, and his two friends of negligence, calling them “incompetent bicyclists,” the Toronto Sun reported Friday. The lawsuit drew an angry response from Brandon’s family. “I feel like someone kicked me in the stomach — I’m over the edge,” his father, Derek Majewski, told the Sun. “Sometimes, it makes my blood boil.” The dad’s attorney Brian Cameron told the Sun that in all his years as a lawyer, he had never seen anyone ever sue a child that they killed. “It’s beyond the pale,” he said. He is representing the elder Majewski in a seperate lawsuit that seeks $900,000 in damages from Simon. The accident happened early in the morning of Oct. 28, 2012, on a dark, rural road in Innisfil, about 55 miles north of Toronto. Brandon’s two friends were both 16. One was seriously injured; the other escaped injury. They are also defendants in Simon’s lawsuit, as is the county where the accident occurred. Simon, a 42-year-old mother of three, said she was going about 55 mph in her KIA Sorrento when she hit the boys — about 5 mph more than the speed limit, the Ottawa Citizen said. No criminal charges were ever filed against her. “It’s a tragedy what happened to the boys, but it’s also a tragedy that’s happened to (Simon),” her lawyer Michael Ellis told the Toronto Star. “I understand their grief and I understand what they must be going through is awful, but my client is also living with this nightmare every day.” Shutterstock

Divorce Drama: Racist Clippers Owner Donald Sterling’s Wife Says Black Girlfriend Is Just A Gold Digging Ho!

When a rich racist wants ya… Donald Sterling’s Wife Says Black Girlfriend Is Just A Gold Digger Donald Sterling’s wife of more than 50 years describes his alleged mistress as a gold digger who seduces older, wealthy men and persuades them to shower her with gifts, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on March 7. Via LA Times reports: The Clippers team owner and a woman identified as V. Stiviano allegedly began an affair after meeting at the 2010 Super Bowl game and were still in the relationship as of the filing date, according to the lawsuit filed by Rochelle H. Sterling, who is described in the suit as “a married woman seeking to protect and recover community property in her individual capacity.” Rochelle Sterling alleges that her husband used community property to buy Stiviano a 2012 Ferrari, two Bentleys and a 2013 Range Rover, worth a total of more than $500,0000. Sterling also allegedly gave Stiviano $1.8 million to buy a duplex on West 4th Street near the Beverly Center last December, according to the suit, which claims that Sterling additionally provided her with $240,000 for upkeep and living expenses. The property was supposed to be held in the Sterlings’ name, Rochelle Sterling contends, but Stiviano has title and has refused to relinquish it. Arguing that the gifts were all allegedly made without Rochelle Sterling’s knowledge or consent, the complaint seeks their return along with compensatory damages. The suit, which includes as defendants unnamed agents and employees of Stiviano, alleges that before the complaint was filed, Donald Sterling asked her to return the property. The complaint also says that Stiviano goes by several other names, including Vanessa Maria Perez, Monica Gallegos and Maria Valdez. Donald’s “delicate Latina” is actually of Black and Mexican lineage so he might be racist but his peen sure as hell isn’t! Hit the flip to peep more pics of his gold digging young swirly boo next….

Justin Bieber Booed at Juno Awards

You know you’re effing up when even Canadians are tired of your crap. Justin Bieber won a Juno award (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy) over the weekend and the audience was less then pleased with the decision. Justin Bieber Booed at Juno Awards 2014 The Biebs wasn’t on hand for the ceremony, but he received the fans’ choice award anyway. Apparently the fans who voted for him weren’t in attendance either, as the troubled pop star was loudly booed when his name was announced. Following a string of legal entanglements including arrests for drunk drag racing and egging a neighbors’ house , Bieber’s fan base is rapidly dwindling. He’s long been more popular in the States than in his native Canada, but our neighbors to the north are generally less inclined toward openly rude behavior, so this public embarrassment represents a new low for Justin. Maybe Bieber’s Canadian fans saw his recent deposition video and decided rudeness is cooler than they thought. Or maybe the whole world is finally sick of his antics. Either way, Justin better start rehabbing his image before he damages his brand beyond repair. You’d think he would know by now that pop music history is filled with young stars brought down by their own egos.

Chris Brown Sued For Assault After Dude Calls Foul on Him in Pickup Game

Malcolm Ausbon, a California man, says short-fused singer Chris Brown and three members of his posse jumped him at a 24 Hour Fitness last year. All, he says, because of a disputed foul during a pickup basketball game. Ausbon is suing Brown, his goons and 24 Hour Fitness for unspecified damages claiming assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence. The lawsuit states that when Brown, 24, refused to acknowledge the foul called on him by Ausbon around 11 p.m., Ausbon “expressed his dissatisfaction.” Chris allegedly replied that he was a member of the Bloods street gang. As Ausbon began to back away, members of the singer’s entourage stepped in and said, “If you f–k with Chris, you f–k with us,” the lawsuit states. According to Ausbon, Brown and three members of his posse jumped him at the gym and began to “strike, punch, kick, pull and stomp” his head and body. Ausbon ended up in the ER with a fractured rib and other injuries including cuts and bruises over his face and body, his lawyer Stephen Wegman said: “He was jumped, beaten and dazed, and at some point my client made a police report about the incident and is waiting for police follow-up. Police never followed up.” “Imagine going to play a game of basketball, and you get jumped by four guys because you call a foul,” he said. “This isn’t for fame or fortune. He’s got medical bills and issues.” Ausbon has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, distorted vision, dizziness, nervousness, embarrassment, fear and anxiety, the lawyer specified. “All a result of some famous guy thinking he’s above the law.” Wegman said he filed the civil lawsuit after a failed attempt to negotiate a private settlement with Brown’s legal team, who “didn’t want to communicate anymore.” “If Chris Brown isn’t willing to compensate (Ausbon) for what he did to him, I’m not going to back down. It will be for a jury to decide.” Brown is also fighting an unrelated criminal charge that he punched a man in Washington, D.C., last October, and is in anger management rehab as a result. He is still on probation after he pleaded guilty to beating pop singer Rihanna in 2009, agreeing to a no-jail, felony probation plea deal that’s now in jeopardy. He is due back in court February 28. For Chris Brown , or more accurately the people who cross Chris Brown, it appears the hits just keep on coming.

Lawsuits: “Gang Member” Chris Breezy Sued For Allegedly Catching Fade With Man On Basketball Court

Why can’t Chris get right? Chris Brown Sued Over Beating On Basketball Court Hopefully  rehab  is working for Chris. Otherwise, a seat on Iyanla’s “Fix My Life” probably awaits. According to TMZ: Chris Brown got so pissed off over a foul call during a pick-up basketball game at a 24-Hour Fitness … he allegedly proclaimed himself a member of the Bloods street gang and then beat the crap out of the other player. Malcolm Ausbon just filed a lawsuit — obtained by TMZ — in which he claims he was playing BBall last July against Chris when he called a foul on Brown … which Brown vehemently denied. Brown allegedly threatened the guy saying he would kick his ass. Ausbon claims Brown then bragged that he was a member of the Bloods. Ausbon wisely decided to back away, but Brown was on a tear. He allegedly rushed Ausbon with 3 members of his security team, who screamed, “If you f*** with Chris, you f*** with us.” The lawsuit claims the 4 men then began to “strike, punch, kick, pull and stomp Ausbon’s head and body.” He says he ended up in the emergency room with injuries to his face, head, neck, back, legs and ribs. He also says he’s suffering from embarrassment, fear, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder. Ausbon is suing Brown and 24-Hour Fitness, as well as the security team for unspecified damages. A source close to Brown acknowledges an “incident” on the court but says there were no punches thrown. What’s up with the false flagging? So lame. WENN

Curt Schilling Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

Curt Schilling, a former Major League Baseball All-Star and World Series MVP, has been diagnosed with cancer. The ex-pitcher and current ESPN analyst released a statement yesterday that reads: “I’ve always believed life is about embracing the gifts and rising up to meet the challenges. We’ve been presented with another challenge, as I’ve recently been diagnosed with cancer. “Shonda [Schilling’s wife] and I want to send a sincere thank you and our appreciation to those who have called and sent prayers, and we ask that if you are so inclined, to keep the Schilling family in your prayers.” At the moment, Schilling has chosen not to reveal the type of cancer from which he’s suffering. Schilling played for the Phillies, Diamondbacks and Red Sox, winning three World Series titles during a 20-year playing career. He joined ESPN as a studio analyst in 2010 and was selected to be part of the Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team this season. In his statement, the respected hurler remembered a few words of wisdom he received from his father, who passed away when Schilling was 21. “My father left me with a saying that I’ve carried my entire life and tried to pass on to our kids: ‘Tough times don’t last, tough people do,’ ” he said. “Over the years in Boston, the kids at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have shown us what that means. “With my incredibly talented medical team I’m ready to try and win another big game. I’ve been so very blessed and I feel grateful for what God has allowed my family to have and experience, and I’ll embrace this fight just like the rest of them, with resolute faith and head on.”
