Kim Kardashian, in a white body-hugging dress, kicked off the night’s festivities by noting that it was her first time ever at MSG, then bringing Taio Cruz to the stage. He played “Break Your Heart” and “Dynamite,” and for his track “Higher,” he was joined by Travie McCoy, though the song usually features British pop princess Kylie Minogue. Jesse McCartney was on hand to proudly invite Bruno Mars to the stage. The Grammy nominee played drums for an excited crowd. He played “Billionaire,” and the entire room sang along as McCoy joined him for their ode to getting famous. The crowd ate it up. He then slowed it down with “Grenade.” The set ended with “Just the Way You Are” to the delight of the crowd. Jay Sean beat-boxed, then helped introduce Paramore to the stage. The band brought some loud, boombastic rock to the show thanks to a set that included “Brick by Boring Brick.” “Anybody else care to join the party tonight?” frontwoman Hayley Williams asked the crowd before blaring out “Misery” and inviting a fan onstage to sing with her. They finished it off with “The Only Exception.” B.o.B was next to the stage. The rapper got real with his track “Don’t Let Me Fall.” Then the crowd went insane for “Magic.” As if that didn’t get the girls hyped enough, Bruno Mars returned for “Beautiful Girls.” “Everybody put your hands up,” B.o.B told the crowd before playing his massive “Airplanes” with Williams by his side. The crowd went nuts when Flo Rida introduced Selena Gomez for her dance-tastic performance of “Round and Round.” Gomez looked like a true disco queen in her little black dress and heels. She thanked Katy Perry for her next track, “Rock God,” then got trancey for her song “A Year Without Rain,” and ended her set with “Naturally,” crediting it as the reason she got a spot on the radio tour. The show took an adult contemporary and old school turn when Michael Buble arrived to croon tunes such as “Hollywood” and “Haven’t Met You Yet,” and for “Let it Snow,” he got in the crowd and paid homage to the season, dusting MSG with snow confetti. Katy Perry brought the girl power in her performance, which featured ballerinas, Christmas trees, Santa Clauses and Perry popping out of a gift box in a latex toy soldier costume for “Hot n Cold.” “This is Madison Square Garden!” she shouted to the crowd. “This is something I’ve dreamt about for a long time.” “This next song is about falling in love with a foreigner, like far away … Not even in England,” she said to introduce “E.T.” After a jazzy version of “I Kissed a Girl,” she proudly proclaimed, “Let’s dedicate this West Coast anthem to the East Coast right now,” ending her performance with “California Gurls” as red and green confetti fell from the ceiling. Pauly D prompted the loudest screams of the night when he introduced Enrique Iglesias. The Latin pop star played the clean version of “Tonight,” followed by older jams such as “Escape” and “Hero,” serenading a girl from the audience. With the swooning complete, Iglesias ended with fan favorite “I Like It.” Kardashian returned, telling the crowd, “I think I’m catching a fever,” before the night’s most-anticipated performance: Justin Bieber. In a plaid top and khakis, the teen star got his party started with “Somebody to Love.” Bieber was in full swagga mode, dancing like a seasoned pro and getting the crowd hyped. “The last time I was here for Jingle Ball, I had a broken foot, and this year, I’m here and both my limbs are working,” he joked. “We shot a movie here, and it’s coming out in February, and I think we should show you a preview.” The trailer transitioned to “Never Say Never.” Bieber even brought out a surprise guest, Jayden Smith, to join him. “I had someone who’s really special to me, and I decided to bring him out,” he then announced, calling for Sean Kingston for “Eenie Meenie.” The girls went crazy as the pals went back and forth on the cut. “I think I want to slow it down a little bit. My acoustic album had an extra song on it that’s really important to me. But first, I need everyone to close their eyes and ‘Pray,’ ” he said before the inspirational ballad. He then teased the excited crowd, saying, “I think we should do one more song,” and listing some of his track names. He settled on “Baby.” “Who wants to be my baby?” he asked. He ended the night with showers of fireworks and confetti, saying, “You guys are amazing.” Did you go to Jingle Ball 2010? Give us your review in the comments below! Usher’s ‘OMG’ Is MTV News’ #1 Song Of 2010!

Club smash, featuring will.i.am, tops our list of the Top 25 Songs of the year. By James Montgomery Usher Photo: Getty Images MTV News’ Top 25 Songs of 2010 has reached an end. We’ve already counted down the rest, and now it’s time to get to the best: Usher’s “OMG,” the song that perfectly sums up the past 12 months of popular music — and makes you wanna move until you can’t move no more. If 2010 proved anything, it’s that a DJ really can save your life … or at least get you to #1 on the Hot 100. After years of staring at each other from across the room, hip-hop, pop and R&B all decided to finally get in bed with dance music, and the results weren’t always pretty, but they were certainly successful. To date, only 17 songs have made it to the top spot of Billboard ‘s singles chart in 2010, and nearly two-thirds of them — from Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” to Far East Movement’s “Like a G6” — were, in some way, dance songs. In that regard, no song better sums up 2010 pop music quite like Usher’s “OMG,” the dance song to end all dance songs. Sure, it may not have matched the swagger of Kanye West’s “Power,” the snarl of Rick Ross’ “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” or the inbox-clogging spread of Cee Lo’s “F— You,” but it didn’t have to. None of those songs went to #1, after all. “OMG” did. Twice. Even among songs that managed to snag that top spot — Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie,” Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” B.o.B and Bruno Mars’ “Nothin’ on You” — “OMG” stood out from the pack, mostly because of its pedigree. It’s not a stretch to say that any of those tracks could’ve (and probably would’ve) been #1 in any other year; “OMG” could only have done it in 2010, because it was crafted to do nothing else. No other song this year was as of the moment, as singular and shiny and downright undeniable. There’s a reason it was named on more ballots than any other song on our countdown and justly takes the title of MTV News’ #1 Song of 2010. And while all that is important, it’s largely beside the point. “OMG” is the kind of song that truly defies deep inspection, because it’s not exactly headphone music. Rather, it was made for the clubs, designed to envelop you on the dance floor and not let go until the final “oh-ohh-oh-ooh-oh.” And in that regard, it succeeds in spades. It is a masterful melding of R&B, and Euro dance, all icy synths and handclaps, starbursts and stutters and sing-along chants. It ebbs and flows, stops and starts, pumps and preens. Simply put, you cannot listen to it without moving in some way. (MTV’s Dee Caligiuri, who voted on our countdown, probably put it best one night when she declared: “There are so many dances you can do to it!”) And if that’s not the definition of a success, well, then I don’t know what is. A large portion of the credit for “OMG” has to go to will.i.am, who not only produced the track (I know!), but was smart enough to see this whole dance thing coming when he teamed up with producer David Guetta last year. Those songs — “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling” — were, of course, massive, but neither of them are as good as this. Given full control, Will goes off the deep end, cramming the song with every dance trick in the book — and probably some new ones he just invented on the spot. And Usher, whose career, truth be told, was sort of in need of a shot in the arm, is the beneficiary. He floats and gloats above the mix, suave and cocksure, knowing that he is exactly the right man at the right time. That time, of course, had to be 2010. Because in a year when so many big-name acts embraced the DJ, he flat-out did it better than any of them. “OMG” represents the peak of the dance-pop era in which we live, a song as undeniable as it is of the moment. We can only speculate as to what next year will bring, but there’s really no denying that, as 2010 comes to a close, Usher stands above all else, reinvigorated and ready for more. It’s enough to make you say “Oh My God,” really. How does Usher’s “OMG” rank among the year’s best songs? Let us know in the comments! MTV News’ Top 25 Songs of 2010 have all been counted down. But the fun isn’t over yet: We still want to see your picks in the comments below! Related Videos MTV News’ Top Songs Of 2010 Related Photos MTV News’ Top 25 Songs Of 2010

Britney Spears: A Look Back At Her Singles … So Far

With her new album due in March, we revisit some of the pop princess’ many hits. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Jive Now that Britney Spears has announced that she will be releasing a new album in March 2011, fans must be wondering what her latest musical endeavor will sound like. The as-yet-untitled effort is a follow-up to 2008’s well-received Circus , which helped resurrect the singer’s career after a dark time in her life. No information regarding the upcoming album has emerged, but Britney’s faithful followers have watched her change up her look and sound with each single over the span of her decade-plus career, as she evolved from a bubblegum-pop princess to a sexy dance-club siren. Let’s trace Spears’ musical journey by taking a look at some of her most memorable tunes. In 1999, a fresh-faced Spears released ” …Baby One More Time” (produced by Max Martin), the title track off her massive debut album. She got the conversation about her sexuality started thanks to a provocative video in which she danced around in a Catholic school uniform, as well as the song’s equally provocative lyrics, where she longingly sang, “My loneliness is killing me/ I must confess, I still believe/ When I’m not with you I lose my mind/ Give me a sign/ Hit me baby one more time.” It’s to be noted that the song originally was intended for TLC. In the video for “Oops! … I Did It Again” (produced by Martin and Rami Yacoub), Spears’ smash from the 2000 album of the same name, the pigtails and skirt were gone, replaced by a red catsuit. That visual, as well as the song’s lyrical content, reflected Spears’ evolution from naughty schoolgirl to intergalactic sex kitten, both in her video and on the song’s lyrical content. For “I’m a Slave 4 U” (produced by the Neptunes) off 2001’s Britney , Spears declared her sexual independence. No longer was she just teasing about the idea that she loved the beat of dance music and how sexy it made her feel, instead she was explicitly sharing it with the world. Plus, who could forget all the sweat in that video. In 2003, Spears teamed up with the Queen of Pop, Madonna, for “Me Against the Music” (produced by Christopher Stewart and Penelope Magnet), the sexy lead single from In the Zone . While the darker, more synth-heavy “Toxic” would become the album’s defining tune, “Me Against the Music” picked up where “Slave” left off: Spears battling the demon she has inside of her that just loves to come out on the dance floor. After a few years of not putting out any music, Spears hit the club again with 2007’s “Gimme More” (produced by Danja) off the aptly titled Blackout . Between the release of In the Zone and Blackout , Spears had married, divorced and become a mother — she also had started to act erratically. The track, which relied more heavily on underground dance and electro than most of Spears’ previous singles, was a highly sexualized tune about getting it on. After the darkness of Blackout , Spears got back to her fun and frolicking old ways on the 2008 Circus single “Womanizer” (produced by the Outsyders). The track was a return to form for Spears after the lackluster response to Blackout , and it brought the discussion back around to her music and away from her sometimes topsy-turvy personal life. In the song’s video, Spears gets back at a player, and really has the last laugh. The clip also features ffotage of a completely nude Britney in a steamy sauna. In 2009, Spears shot to the top of the charts with the danceable track “Three” (produced by Martin and Shellback) off The Singles Collection . The tune was an instant smash, and featured Spears robotically singing about a m

Grammy Awards 2011: Full List of Nominations

In a sign of changing times, and of a changing Eminem, his 10 nominations for the 2011 Grammy Awards were not controversial, but predictable and respected. The rapper is nominated for album of the year along with nine honors, leading the entire music industry. Bruno Mars earned an impressive seven nods. Other top nominees included Lady Antebellum, Jay-Z and Lady Gaga, who were all nominated for six. Lady Gaga also was nominated for album of the year. Country trio Lady Antebellum was rewarded for its huge crossover successes, earning nominations for album of the year, record of the year and song of the year. Justin Bieber, astoundingly, is up for Best New Artist. “It feels amazing. I can’t believe I’m in this position. Thank you,” he said. “I don’t know what to say.” Other nominees for record of the year included Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ anthem for NYC, “Empire State of Mind.” But not everyone got the love they expected. Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” was a huge hit but shut out of the record and song of the year (Katy’s Teenage Dream was nominated for album of the year). The evening’s biggest snub may belong to Ke$ha. The party girl singer had a top-selling debut and several hits, but was not nominated for any awards. On the flip side, she cannot sing, so you can sort of see it. Anyway, follow the jump for the full list of nominees for the 2011 Grammy Awards … GENERAL Album Of The Year The Suburbs — Arcade Fire Recovery — Eminem Need You Now — Lady Antebellum The Fame Monster — Lady Gaga Teenage Dream — Katy Perry Record Of The Year “Nothin’ On You” — B.o.B Featuring Bruno Mars “Love The Way You Lie” — Eminem Featuring Rihanna “…. But soon the R&B crooner will take his skills to prime-time television when he guest-stars as a fashion-forward hit man on an episode of “CSI: NY,” according to People magazine. “Ne-Yo will be playing a professional hit man who doesn’t fit the usual image of a hired killer,” a rep for the hit CBS show told People. “This guy carries himself with elegant style but a violent efficiency.”

Willow Palin Lambasts Media, Praises Bristol

Willow Palin is not happy with the media. Must run in the family. A week after her big sister, Bristol Palin, apologized for Willow’s use of a gay slur on Facebook , the 16-year-old spawn of Sarah is sounding off solo. In a statement to E!, Willow goes off on Facebook haters, scandalous “lies” in Life & Style and Bristol’s run to the Dancing With the Stars finale . Bristol, Sarah, Trig and Willow Palin with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named . “Today I am focusing on a special event – Bristol and Mark [Ballas]’s appearance in the Dancing With the Stars finals. Nothing will take away how proud we are of Bristol and her grit and determination that got her this far,” says Willow Palin. Then her attention turned to the “ridiculous” reports, namely a Life & Style story painting the wild child as a crazy, vodka-chugging drug dealer . “It is disappointing to see people claim they know me to sell stories,” she said . “As for people accusing me of being at a party over a year ago, the accusations are ridiculous. The same people saying this were also the ones attacking my family on Facebook. Unfortunately some people have learned that there are publications that will pay money for stories, no matter how misleading.” “Nevertheless, I recognize that my family has been given a great honor and privilege to make a difference in this country, and even though I am just 16, more is expected of me,” she continues. “That being said, I say this to Bristol and Mark (with a hat tip to Lady Gaga) – Just Dance!” Awwww . Notice she left out the bit about slinging dope in a Target parking lot. Eh eh? Just kidding. We’re sure that didn’t happen. Actually we’re not sure, it very well may have. But you can’t trust anything that Life & Style says either.

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ Dominates Weekend Box Office

Seventh ‘Potter’ film conjures up a magical $125.1 million debut, best opening in franchise’s history. By Josh Wigler Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” Photo: Warner Bros. Although Harry, Ron and Hermione have yet to secure all the weapons necessary in their impending battle against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, they’ve already raised a significant amount of funds for the first half of their two-part war against the Dark Lord: To the surprise of absolutely nobody, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” is a magical success. The first half of “Deathly Hallows” premiered in theaters this weekend with all of the explosive wonder that fans have come to expect from the “Harry Potter” franchise. With an estimated $125.1 million earned across roughly 4,125 locations, “Deathly Hallows” enjoyed the best opening weekend of any previous “Harry Potter” film, easily stealing the record from “Goblet of Fire,” which earned $102.7 million in 2005. Not only does “Deathly Hallows” mark a new franchise high, it’s also the sixth-biggest opening weekend of all time, sitting comfortably alongside such cinematic titans as “The Dark Knight” ($158.4 million), “Spider-Man 3” ($151 million), “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” ($142.8 million), “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” ($135.6 million) and “Iron Man 2” ($128.1 million). Despite its successes, however, “Deathly Hallows” was unable to wrest away the record set by “New Moon” for best November weekend of all time, falling short by nearly $20 million. “New Moon” also remains the third-highest-grossing opening weekend of all time, giving “Twilight” the edge over “Harry Potter” — for now, at least, as next summer’s “Deathly Hallows” conclusion is poised to break all kinds of records. “Deathly Hallows” wasn’t the only film in theaters this weekend, not that you would have noticed; the film outpaced the combined total of the four remaining top five competitors by a massive $80.1 million margin. Indeed, the only other movie to hit wide release this weekend was “The Next Three Days,” and despite the star power of Russell Crowe, the Lionsgate thriller landed poorly in fifth place with $6.8 million. The Box-Office Top Five #1 “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” ($125.1 million) #2 “Megamind” ($16.2 million) #3 “Unstoppable” ($13.1 million) #4 “Due Date” ($9.2 million) #5 “The Next Three Days” ($6.8 million) Upcoming Releases Several newcomers are entering the box-office arena as “Deathly Hallows” looks to continue its domination next weekend: Dwayne Johnson returns to kicking butt and taking names in “Faster,” Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi tell fairy tales in Disney’s “Tangled,” Christina Aguilera and Cher dance off in “Burlesque” and Jake Gyllenhaal enjoys “Love and Other Drugs” with Anne Hathaway. Dancing With the Stars Producers Deny Bristol Palin Conspiracy at Work

The fact that Bristol Palin made it into the finals has a lot of people scratching their heads (or mailing white powder to the set). But it’s no conspiracy. “She deserves it,” Dancing With the Stars executive producer Conrad Green says. “A significant portion of our viewing audience believes that, too.” Week after week, as Bristol advances and superior talents like Audrina Patridge, Rick Fox, and Brandy have fallen, conspiracy theories have surfaced. DANCING FINALIST : Like it or not, Bristol Palin (with partner Mark Ballas) will be competing for the MirrorBall trophy in this week’s finals. Will she actually win it? Speculation has arisen about whether the Tea Party, which strongly supports her mom Sarah, is involved in an organized effort to promote Bristol. On one conservative Web site, Freerepublic (dot) com, some of the site’s 300,000 users have used discussion threads to encourage votes for Palin. Bristol Palin , that is. One asked users to “make liberal heads explode and vote for Bristol” Nov. 8 to advance her to the semifinals. That’s pretty much what happened. But Green insists , “There’s nothing in the voting system that looks at all strange.” He says that the entire process – text votes, call-in votes and email votes – “is all overseen by the Broadcast Standards team, independent of us and the network to make sure that everything is absolutely done scrupulously.” While some say the show’s credibility is in question after this year, Green says this isn’t the first time a less skilled dancer has made it this far. Of Bristol’s surprise run, he says, “You can argue whether or not she deserves to be there more than someone else who the judges have assigned to be a better dancer, but then make sure you vote for that person. It’s not rocket science.” He also notes that plans to change the system to give the judges’ scores more weight than audience votes are false, because that’s already in place. “Everyone is having a go at our system, but unlike American Idol, our professional judges count for half of the total for each couple each week, so there’s already a built-in attempt to make the dance quality matter,” Green says. “We set the rules down and this is the game and if this is how it turns out, then this is how it turns out. I think it’s absolutely fair.” What do you think? Does Bristol Palin deserve to be in the finals?
