Kim Kardashian Signs on for Sketchers

Feet may not be the first (or second… or third…) body part that comes to mind when you think of Kim Kardashian, but Sketchers is hoping to change that. The sneaker company has signed Kim and mother Kris Jenner to endorsement deals. Look for the pair to be featured in a campaign titled “Shaping Up With the Kardashians,” a fitness challenge that will serve as this brand’s marketing centerpiece in 2011. Hey, whatever weight loss program that doesn’t involve hours on the toilet is a step in the right direction for these people. For once in her life, Kim Kardashian wants people to look at her feet instead of her chest. [Photos: Splash News] “Shape-ups have already impacted my fitness routine for the better,” Kim said soon after this announcement was made. “I am always on-the-move and never know exactly when I can fit in my next workout.” Adds Skechers Fitness Group President Leonard Amato: ” Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are aspirational individuals and the perfect spokespeople to inspire women to maximize their fitness level.” Hehe. We’re trying not to laugh too hard at any reference to Kim Kardashian as an as pirational individual. Apt word choice, dude.

Jake Pavelka is on Team Bristol Palin

Jake Pavelka, who lasted five weeks last season on Dancing With the Stars , can relate to Bristol Palin . He knows a thing or two about having two left feet. While Jake’s popularity couldn’t match Bristol the Pistol, who made to the finals, he says it’s great that she lasted this long – and she has a shot tonight. “It’s a level playing field. The score is zero, zero, zero,” the former Bachelor and Bachelorette star said. “It’s what makes Dancing With the Stars special.” From one bad dancer to another … “It really proves that when America votes, it’s what drives the show. It’s just like American Idol , it’s not decided by the judges. It’s decided by America.” Well, the judges do play a role, as we discussed in our Dancing With the Stars recap earlier. But his point is essentially correct, and Bristol’s proof of it. When asked who his dream star for DWTS would be? “I think Jennifer Love Hewitt should do Dancing With the Stars . She’s a hottie,” Pavelka said . No arguments here. As for tonight … who are you pulling for?

Tom Bergeron Plays My Favorite Scene with Movieline

Last week we talked to Dancing with the Stars ‘s dignified emcee, the dependable Tom Bergeron, and quizzed him on Bristol Palin’s doubters, arguing with judges, and the fun of live TV . But before we tied up our interview, we asked him to play Moveline’s game for cinephiles, My Favorite Scene, and he happily identified his favorite film scene of all-time. As expected, Bergeron’s choice was as whimsical and droll as he is. Watch the clip after the jump.

Dancing With the Stars Producers Deny Bristol Palin Conspiracy at Work

The fact that Bristol Palin made it into the finals has a lot of people scratching their heads (or mailing white powder to the set). But it’s no conspiracy. “She deserves it,” Dancing With the Stars executive producer Conrad Green says. “A significant portion of our viewing audience believes that, too.” Week after week, as Bristol advances and superior talents like Audrina Patridge, Rick Fox, and Brandy have fallen, conspiracy theories have surfaced. DANCING FINALIST : Like it or not, Bristol Palin (with partner Mark Ballas) will be competing for the MirrorBall trophy in this week’s finals. Will she actually win it? Speculation has arisen about whether the Tea Party, which strongly supports her mom Sarah, is involved in an organized effort to promote Bristol. On one conservative Web site, Freerepublic (dot) com, some of the site’s 300,000 users have used discussion threads to encourage votes for Palin. Bristol Palin , that is. One asked users to “make liberal heads explode and vote for Bristol” Nov. 8 to advance her to the semifinals. That’s pretty much what happened. But Green insists , “There’s nothing in the voting system that looks at all strange.” He says that the entire process – text votes, call-in votes and email votes – “is all overseen by the Broadcast Standards team, independent of us and the network to make sure that everything is absolutely done scrupulously.” While some say the show’s credibility is in question after this year, Green says this isn’t the first time a less skilled dancer has made it this far. Of Bristol’s surprise run, he says, “You can argue whether or not she deserves to be there more than someone else who the judges have assigned to be a better dancer, but then make sure you vote for that person. It’s not rocket science.” He also notes that plans to change the system to give the judges’ scores more weight than audience votes are false, because that’s already in place. “Everyone is having a go at our system, but unlike American Idol, our professional judges count for half of the total for each couple each week, so there’s already a built-in attempt to make the dance quality matter,” Green says. “We set the rules down and this is the game and if this is how it turns out, then this is how it turns out. I think it’s absolutely fair.” What do you think? Does Bristol Palin deserve to be in the finals?

Report: Dancing With the Stars Set On Lockdown After White Powder Mailed to Bristol Palin

Emergency responders raced to CBS Television City studios late Friday after a white powder substance was found by a member of the Dancing with the Stars staff. The apparent target, according to TMZ, was likely Bristol Palin . Law enforcement sources say the powder substance was discovered by a DWTS staff member, and a section of the studio was then evacuated and cordoned off. Fortunately, the FBI reported it appears to be mere talcum powder after “initial field screening was negative for hazardous substances.” An investigation continues. The powder was contained in a piece of fan mail addressed to Bristol Palin. We know plenty of fans are upset with her long run on the show, but this is just wrong. Come on, people. There’s nothing funny about terrorist threats, even if Brandy’s elimination really sucked. Get a grip … also, the white powder thing is so 2001. Now that this is over and it looks like everyone’s free from danger, we can go back to debating whether Bristol deserves to be in the finals …
