Fox Teases Six More Episodes of Lone Star

Following the crazy American Idol panel at Tuesday morning’s TCA event in Pasadena, Fox executives Kevin Reilly and Peter Rice took the stage and were immediately barraged with Lone Star cancellation-related questions from critics. For those believers out there, Reilly and Rice confirmed that the network is still looking for a home for the six unaired episodes they filmed last year. When another critic suggested that the media’s positive reviews of the Kyle Killen drama obviously did not mean anything to the network, the execs joked, “You said your reviews are meaningless. They’re really not. Except in this case.”

I Am Not Ready to Live in a World Where Michelle Pfeiffer Plays Chris Pine’s Mother

I am not ready to live in a world where Michelle Pfeiffer plays Chris Pine’s mother. That world is one we will reportedly live in, and soon, according to recent casting news. Nothing against Pine, a pleasant young talent I look forward to seeing in a smallish drama for once as opposed to smirky sci-fi/action-flick tentpole bombast. And nothing against Pfeiffer, whose choppy last decade of work overshadows her more historic demonstration of versatility and taste. (OK: Grease 2 and Scarface , but they weren’t her fault and everyone must start somewhere.) This may be a wonderful collaboration! All I’m saying is I am just not ready to live in a world… where Michelle Pfeiffer… plays Chris Pine’s mother.

Allison Janney on Mr. Sunshine, Matthew Perry’s Helpful Insults, and Missing Aaron Sorkin

Allison Janney returns to primetime Feb. 9 on the ABC comedy Mr. Sunshine , playing Matthew Perry’s unpredictable boss. The four-time Emmy champ will exercise the comic chops she brought to Juno and Hairspray , dotting her punchlines with classic C.J. Cregg smarts. We caught up with Janney at the TCA press tour in Pasadena and discussed Mr. Perry’s candid commentary, her love-hate relationship with auditions, and her response to West Wing scribe Aaron Sorkin’s dialogue in The Social Network .

15 Suggested Titles for the Next James Bond Movie

It looks like James Bond will return after all ! At least until the next delay. Assuming, though, that MGM can be taken at its word — and assuming we’re all still around and not sucked into the vortex of an apocalypse in 22 months — 007 will arrive at theaters on Nov. 9, 2012 with Daniel Craig reprising his role as James Bond for director Sam Mendes. Hooray! The currently untitled film is going by BOND 23, which would be fine if this were a trendy bar and not a movie franchise. Ahead, Movieline offers some foolproof title suggestions.

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz: New Couple Alert!

It didn’t take long for Rachel Weisz to find a new man. A little over a month since the actress announced her split from Darren Aronofsky, she was spotted holding hands with Daniel Craig in southwestern England. The movie stars were spotted entering a small pub together over the weekend. They “looked like a romantic couple in a film,” a witness told Britain’s News of the World of Craig and Weisz. “They were laughing and chatting and hanging on to each other’s words and stopping to take photos of each other.” The pair will star together in Dream House , scheduled for a March release. They have denied reports of any romantic relationship, but onlookers and new photos say otherwise.

The Awesome Cowboys & Aliens Trailer: Heavy on Cowboys, Low on Aliens

After the soul-crushing awfulness of the trailer for Green Lantern , it’s nice to know that at least one summer movie in 2011 won’t be a total disappointment. The trailer for Cowboys & Aliens — which will get some serious placement in front of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Part I this weekend — has premiered online and it’s nowhere near as silly as the title might have you believe. In fact, it looks pretty harrowing. Well, for a movie about cowboys fighting aliens.

Zoe Kazan Confirms the Cowboys & Aliens Set is Lots of Fun

While appearing today with guest host Christopher Walken on The Leonard Lopate Show , actress Zoe Kazan updated anxious WNYC listeners on the status of Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens . Kazan’s boyfriend, Paul Dano, co-stars in the film and is apparently having a blast on-set, drinking margaritas with Sam Rockwell and “James Bond” (star Daniel Craig). You’ll recall Rockwell told Movieline something similar last month at Comic-Con. Anyone else excited for the making-of documentary on the DVD ? [ WNYC ]

Could the James Bond Delay Actually Be a Good Thing?

We’ve been told over and over for decades that James Bond will return, and implicit in that promise is that in the in-between time won’t be long at all. The turmoil at MGM has changed all that, however; not only has the next Bond film lost Sam Mendes as the director , but now, according to an irate Harry Knowles , development on the movie has stopped completely (not to be confused with when it stopped indefinitely ). Is that really so bad, though?
