Blame Miley Cyrus: White Researcher Claims The Origin Of “Twerk” Was Created By Germans And Not Blacks

Black folks been twerking since the beginning of time! Researcher Claims Origin From Twerk Is German Via HuffPo reports In descriptions of grinding and the Harlem Shake, twerk occurs with great regularity. The verb means “to move one’s buttocks in a suggestive way.” It has not yet made its way into OED and perhaps never will (let us hope so), but its origin hardly poses a problem: twerk must be a blend of twist (or twitch) and work (or jerk), a close relative of such verbs as squirm (possibly a blend of dialectal squir “to throw with a jerk” and worm) and twirl (? twist + whirl). When blends are coined “in plain sight” — as happened to brunch, motel, and Eurasia — no one has questions about their descent. The noun designates a rope made of two threads, a twirl, and refers to various distortions. Hence the verb twist “to intertwine; curve; wring.” Especially characteristic are the Germanic congeners of twist: German Zwist ~ Low German twist “quarrel, discord”; Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish also have tvist (the same meaning). Twig “a small shoot of a tree” seems to be akin to some words for “fork.” If this is true, then a twig once denoted a forked branch, an object with two prongs. How it acquired its modern meaning remains unclear. German Zweig does not conjure up a picture of a tiny branch, though it is smaller than an Ast “bough.” (Did Dickens hint to the vicissitudes in the fate of his hero when he called him Twist? After all, it was he, rather than Mr. Bumble, who invented the name.) Basically, White people have discovered the art of twerking and want to claim it. What’s next, white folks claiming they invented the Bankhead Bounce and Tootsie Roll?! SIT DOWN! Continue reading

Testicle-Eating Fish: Spotted, Caught in Sweden

Cross your legs, male readers. We have some breaking fish news out of Sweden. A local fisherman surprised animal experts in that country last week when he caught a pacu in the Øresund channel. This relative of the piranha is known as a “ball cutter” because, well… “There have been incidents in other countries, such as Papua New Guinea, where some men have had their testicles bitten off,” said Henrik Carl, a fish expert at a Danish museum, speaking to an English-language newspaper in Sweden, adding: “They bite because they’re hungry, and testicles sit nicely in their mouth.” Man. And we thought Taylor Swift was a man eater. Testicle-Eating Fish Caught in Sweden Pacus can can grow to up to 90 centimeters and weigh 25 kilograms. This is the first time one has been caught in Europe. In related news, we will now be canceling our snorkeling trip to Sweden.

First I need to say like everyone else here, that I never ever…

First I need to say like everyone else here, that I never ever thought in my whole life that I would be able to write my own Bieber Experience, but what I am doing now? I am writing my own MBE with a smile on my face! I have been a Belieber since 2009. My name is Veronica, I am 17 years old and I live in Denmark . Here is how it all started. When the Believe Tour dates for Europe came out, I screamed! “Copenhagen, Denmark,” I read. I decided to join BieberFever so I could get good tickets with my pre-sale code and I managed to get the best seats for my friend and I. This was finally my time to see my idol for the first time in my whole life. When the concert was coming closer I entered all the competitions to win a meet and greet, also the competition on BieberFever. My MBE happened on April 20th 2013 in Denmark, but first we need to turn back the time to April 19. Justin arrived to our country that day, so the Danish Beliebers were hyped. I was so excited. Me and 6 other girls found out which hotel Justin was staying at and we went there. When we arrived at the hotel, it was only us. All the other Beliebers were at a wrong hotel. We were quiet because we know how annoying it can be when people screamed loud, and especially for Justin. It was cold and windy that day. Two of the girls had to pee and asked a security from the hotel if they could borrow the hotel’s toilet. The security said yes and we saw the girls go into the hotel. Right after they came out, they smiled so big and said, “OMFG GIRLS, shh we need to be quiet, but listen.. Scooter Braun is in the building! He is in the lobby and he is sitting with his computer.” Holy shit, was this even real life? We couldn’t believe what we just heard. Suddenly a man walked out of the hotel. SCOOTER FUCKING BRAUN. The other girls and I ran to him and we all were like “Omg hi Scooter! Can we take a picture? How are you? You are so amazing!!” It was so crazy. He smiled and said, “Hurry up, guys! I have a flight to catch.” He took pictures with a lot of the other girls and was nice. I gave my phone to one of my friends and she took the picture. After he left, all of us girl hugged each other and we screamed so hard. He is the man who is the reason that Justin is a worldwide famous artist today! Then we were waiting for the train to pass and I looked at my phone and I was in shock. I opened my email and there was one new message. It was from BieberFever. We had won the contest to meet Justin! The next day around 4 p.m, we got in line for the M&G and went into a room. While we were waiting we saw Dan Kanter. Suddenly they start letting people in. The line was moving and I was getting closer and closer to Justin. People who had gotten their picture had to walk up at some stairs and I saw a lot of them crying. I looked at my friend and said “Omg, I can’t hold back my tears anymore!” She looked at me and said, “Veronica, please don’t! You don’t want to look like an idiot beside Justin, right?” and smiled. She was right. Now it was my turn. I went into the room and the first person I saw was Lil Za. He is so cute by the way. Then I looked to the left and I saw him. He was standing right there. My lifesaver. The person I have seen on pictures and videos and now he was in front of me in real life. Justin Drew Bieber. The time stopped for like 3 seconds. I looked at his face. He looked like a doll. A wax figure or something. I couldn’t believe my own eyes. He looked even better in real life. He doesn’t even look like he does in my M&G picture with him. Justin suddenly looked at ME. He smiled and he said “Heeeyy.” He indicated that I should come over on his right side and stand by him. He put his arms around me and I put my arms around his waist. I could feel his back. He was so soft. We looked into the camera and it went so quickly and suddenly we were out of the room. I started crying. I can finally say that I have met Justin. Justin Bieber. I have been waiting for this for so long. On April 20 I realized how much Justin means to me. I wanna thank Justin for everything. He has told me and the rest of this fan base to believe in our dreams, and he was right, because dreams do come true. Justin deserves way more respect from people. He is more than people think. He is the best idol you could ever ask for. Justin, if you are reading this right now, I just want to say, thank you so much for all the things you do. You have helped me so much through the hard times and to stay strong. I love you and I will always stand by his side no matter what. Thank you for everything. Oh, and I need to say something to the Beliebers out there: Good things happen to those who wait! -@Bieberpanda More here: First I need to say like everyone else here, that I never ever…

Helena Christensen: Nude in FutureClaw!

Helena Christinsen poses nude in the new issue of FutureClaw , which apparently exists (and is getting major PR thanks to Helena Christensen nude)! At 44, the Danish stunner is still a perfect 10. The former Victoria’s Secret stunner shows that whether she’s wearing revealing lingerie or in her birthday suit, she has some unbelievable genes. Christensen herself did the styling for the shoot, meaning she picked out a negligee, paired the strapless black bra with nothing but a swan figurine, etc. Check out more images after the jump! “There are some of my favorite items in there,” she tells FutureClaw . “It was interesting to have to go through my own clothes for a shoot. I tend to dress it items that don’t necessarily go so well together. I like when style isn’t obvious.” “I always end up feeling more comfortable wearing a combination of something quirky and strange. Maybe style shouldn’t so much be defined, but rather felt.” Helena also made news recently for calling out weight critics of Kim Kardashian , who was often scrtunized for her appearance despite being pregnant.

Nina Agdal Subs For Kate Upton, Goes to Prom With Jake Davidson

Jake Davidson, the L.A. teenager who famously asked Kate Upton to his senior prom, landed a solid consolation prize in Danish supermodel Nina Agdal. Agdal was the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition’s 2012 “Rookie of the Year.” She’s also the hot, bikini-clad girl on the beach in those Carl’s Jr. ads. And last night, she was Jake’s prom date. When Kate Upton , 20, couldn’t go due to a conflict, Nina, 21, contacted him asking if she could instead. How awesome is that? Davidson’s prom intivitaion video earlier this year has now tallied more than 2.6 million views. The beauty was charmed by the proposal and accepted. She couldn’t do it, though, because of her schedule. That’s when Jake’s mother, Cheryl, said Agdal got in touch with her son after he was turned down: “Jake was waiting to hear from Kate and when Nina heard about it, she said ‘If Kate can’t go, I’d like to go’ because she never got to go to her prom.” Agdal wore a softly draped halter-top gown in moss green to the prom held at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif. “This prom has been incredible,” he said in an interview. “Nina Agdal is like so down to earth. Really cool, really nice. It was a great day. I really enjoyed it.” Maybe someday, after Jake is also famous, this will be added to our gallery of celebrity prom photos !

My name is Laura, and I met my idol on April 2nd, 2013 in…

My name is Laura, and I met my idol on April 2nd, 2013 in Hamburg. Every belieber has a dream about meeting Justin. I’ve also had one for such a long time, and I never ever in my life thought it would happen. My Bieber experience started when I bought tickets for his Believe tour in Hamburg. I live in Denmark but my friend and I wanted to go so badly so we bought tickets. We of course joined the meet & greet contest on BieberFever even though we knew the chances of winning is small. The concert came closer and closer. All those days of counting down, they were now gone. On April 1st I woke up from a call from my friend. She was like, “Omgomgomg we won the contest!” I thought at first it was an April Fool’s joke but she sent me screenshots and it was true! We were then at the O2 at 2 p.m. on April 2nd. When we got there we were just walking around  to see how it all looked, bought some merchandise and talked with some beliebers. At 4 p.m. we went to entrance E4 to pick up our meet & greet wristbands, and then waited in line. My friend and I got into a group with 4 other Danish girls, who also won from BieberFever.  The queue was getting shorter, and it was finally our turn to meet Justin! I was so afraid that I wasn’t going to stand beside him, but as soon as the security said “It’s your turn,” I walked up to the front as fast as I could. We were now standing right behind the curtain, and could see Justin smiling and taking pictures. I was freaking out! It was our turn and Justin said, “Come on in.” I walked right next to him, I was so nervous and couldn’t believe my own eyes. I was standing next to JUSTIN BIEBER. I put my arm around him, and my other hand on his six pack. I could feel his abs through his tank-top, it was amazing. We had our picture and then I told him I loved him and stuff. He said, “Thank you sweetie,” with his cute accent and a big smile on his face. I asked for a hug, but the security went through me and Justin and pulled me out of the room. They also pushed my friend because she was standing beside Justin, but the security didn’t want her to! Justin saw that she was getting sad, so he took his hand and put it around her shoulder on the picture, so cute. It all happened so quickly. I wish we could have spend a little more time with him, but it was still the best time of my life. It was such an amazing experience, and there is NO words that can describe it. After the meeting, we went to the concert which also was amazing! The way Justin came on stage was fantastic, and although I had high expectations for Justin, I was so surprised. My friend and I were singing and dancing for our lives. The whole show was just insane. It may take a while to meet Justin, but it’s worth waiting! Thank you so much Justin for being the best idol in the whole world, and a big thanks to BieberFever for making my dream a reality.  -Laura (@LauraAsJBsOLLG) Video from my Believe Tour concert Visit link: My name is Laura, and I met my idol on April 2nd, 2013 in…

After Innocence Of Muslims, 2 Possible Muhammad Pics On The Way

More Muhammad pics are in the planning stages and this time, they may include cinematic quality. By now, just about every filmmaker or aspiring filmmaker knows that it’s a full-on major taboo to depict the Prophet Muhammad in a movie. That rule doesn’t just apply to the recent low-budget video that appeared on YouTube, Innocence of Muslims , which didn’t exactly depict the Muslim prophet in the best of light, but any depiction is absolutely forbidden among Muslims or anyone else for that matter, at least according to the raging crowds that have rioted for the past two weeks in front of American missions around the Muslim world. But while depictions of Muhammad have remained mostly absent in Hollywood and Western movies throughout the decades, the anti-Islam pic may have had the unintended (or not) effect of opening up a floodgate – or at least a trickle – as at least two filmmakers are looking to make separate pics featuring the prophet, and if all goes according to plan, their budgets will likely be higher. Leading the next possible wave of Muhammad projects are two ex-Muslims who are developing biopics that will give critical takes on Muhammad, according to the Los Angeles Times . L.A. based Palestinian filmmaker Mosab Hassan Yousef told the paper he has cast a “prominent Hollywood actor” to play Muhamad in a project he says has a proposed budget of $30 million. The story would center on the prophet from age 12 until his death and would be reminiscent of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ . “My goal is to create this big mirror to show the Muslim world the true image of its leader,” Yousef is quoted as saying. The one difference with the depiction of Jesus Christ, however, is that Yousef’s take may be less of a glorified account of Muhammad than Gibson’s Passion . Yousef’s book Son of Hamas tells of his journey from a “terrorist to Israeli spy to born-again Christian,” according to L.A.T. He claims to not be ‘anti-Muslim,’ and says his mother is still a practicing member of the religion that claims 1.5 billion followers worldwide, but he apparently converted under the guidance of a radical Egyptian Christian – Father Zakaria Botros Henein – who has criticized Muhammad as a “pedophile and buffoon.” Even further along the way to becoming reality is another film by an atheist raised in Iran, Ali Sina, which is said to be in pre-production and claims to have $2 million secured so far. Sina hopes to raise a total of $10 million for the project. Still untitled, the story will liken Muhammad to cult leaders Jim Jones or David Koresh. The Canadian resident plans to begin shooting the pic next year. “We can bypass theaters completely and sell the movie online with a profit to a large number of people, especially Muslims,” Sina said. “They can download it and watch it even if they are living in Karachi or Mecca or Medina.” Innocence of Muslims was actually not the first depiction of Muhammad in the West that incited violent reaction in the Muslim world. In 2005 and 2006, Danish publication Jyllands-Posten published a dozen cartoons that later sparked massive protests resulting in more than 100 deaths and the bombing of the Danish embassy in Pakistan in addition fires being set at the normally placid Scandinavian country’s embassies in Syria, Lebanon and Iran. Its prime minister at the time described the controversy as Denmark’s works international crisis since World War II. [Source: Los Angeles Times ]
