George Clooney’s Directing Inspires Ryan Gosling

‘That was one of the reasons I wanted to work with George,’ Gosling says of watching Clooney direct himself in ‘Ides of March.’ By Kevin Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Ryan Gosling Photo: MTV News The next step on Ryan Gosling’s climb to the top might take him behind the camera. In a recent interview with MTV News, Gosling talked about his aspirations to eventually direct, like his “Ides of March” co-star and director George Clooney. “I’d like to do that,” Gosling said. “That was one of the reasons I wanted to work with George, was to see how that’s done.” Even though Gosling may look up to Clooney as an actor/director, he isn’t ready to wear both hats simultaneously just yet. “I don’t think I could handle it as well as he does. He’s pretty incredible to watch,” Gosling said of Clooney directing himself in “Ides.” “He’s like Keanu Reeves in ‘The Matrix.’ Any problem that comes to him, he’s just dodging those bullets.” “The Ides of March” marks Clooney’s fourth feature film as director and his first time working with Gosling. While Gosling hasn’t directed yet, he does have some experience behind the scenes: He served as executive producer on last year’s critical darling “Blue Valentine.” Gosling recently found a new collaborator in Danish filmmaker and “Drive” director Nicolas Winding Refn. The duo are reuniting for Refn’s next film, “Only God Forgives,” and have two other films in development, including the much-delayed remake of “Logan’s Run.” Gosling’s work with Refn developing the tone and screenplay for “Drive” was often talked about in the press and could hint at future directing gigs. Bucky Larson Achieves Monumental 0% Rotten Tomatoes Rating

At the risk of piling on, today we need to recognize the rare cultural milestone achieved by Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star . No, not its approval from a leader in the porn community , and not its status as one of the biggest mainstream flops in years. Nope. The Adam Sandler-produced, Nick Swardson-starring comedy has managed that ever-rare zero-percent approval rating among the critics of Rotten Tomatoes.

Letter from Toronto: Coppola’s Twixt Is Stubborn Old-Coot Filmmaking; Stillman’s Damsels Hardly Dazzles

Francis Ford Coppola’s Twixt is kind of stupid and kind of amazing, a horror movie-fairytale hybrid with an inscrutable plot, some gorgeous images and two brief sections shot in 3-D. This isn’t the great film Coppola’s devotees have been waiting for him to make. But it’s infused with more of Coppola’s spirit, as we know it, than Youth Without Youth and Tetro , both of which were sluggish and self-serious. Twixt is a bit of a mess, but it’s also joyful and wicked, with a great, roly-poly sense of humor about itself. In its imaginative WTF -ness, it reminds me of Bob Dylan’s gloriously whacked-out Masked and Anonymous , just the sort of thing you’d expect a crackpot genius left to his own devices to make.

Stellan Skarsgård on Thor, The Avengers and Experiencing Melancholia With His Son

Some moviegoers may recognize Stellan Skarsgård as the frequent Lars von Trier collaborator who this November will appear in Melancholia , his fourth film from the controversial Danish director. But more mainstream audiences will recognize the 60-year-old Swedish actor (and father of True Blood breakout actor Alexander Skarsgård) for his work in five mega-blockbusters in the past five years including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest , Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End , Mamma Mia! , Angels & Demons and most recently Thor , which starred Skarsgård as a scientist who ultimately befriends Chris Hemsworth’s title character.

REVIEW: Danish Actress Paprika Steen Shines in Modest But Moving Applause

Martin Zandvliet’s Applause is a small movie with modest ambitions, and accordingly, it packs only a modest emotional punch. But as a showcase for its star, the Danish actress Paprika Steen (possibly best known for her role in Thomas Vinterberg’s 1998 Dogme picture The Celebration ), it’s still rewarding in its own quiet, jarring way.

Justin Timberlake Isn’t Behind Leaked Track ‘Take Me Down,’ Rep Says

‘Justin has no involvement with either the song or the artist,’ JT’s rep says of tune by Danish recording artist. By James Dinh Justin Timberlake Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Contrary to reports, Justin Timberlake is not the singer behind a track called “Take Me Down,” a rep confirmed to MTV News on Monday (January 3). The song, which was reportedly produced by the Neptunes, began circulating on the Internet on Thursday and was believed to be a previously unreleased JT tune. “Various media outlets recently reported that a song called ‘Take You Down’ is a new track from Justin Timberlake. These reports are untrue,’ the singer’s rep said in a statement to MTV News. “Justin has no involvement with either the song or the artist but wants to assure his fans that when he releases new music, they will be the first to know.” Despite the JT resemblance, the track is actually by Danish artist Rasmus Thude and titled “LLL (Love, Liquor, Lick It).” MTV News regrets the error. Fans will have to wait to hear new music from Timberlake , who has said in a number of recent interviews that he isn’t ready to record the follow-up to 2006’s FutureSex/ LoveSounds. “I want to conceptualize something a little bit more,” he recently told the Los Angeles Times. “And it’s probably because of the experience I’m having working with directors and screenwriters and getting to play cool characters. If that means I come up with, like, my version of ‘Ziggy Stardust,’ so be it. Who knows? What I’ve learned from acting in movies, I want to apply to music and see what happens.” Related Artists Justin Timberlake

Tara Reid is Drunk on Love of the Day

Tara Reid is in love. I wonder how much money this Danish “Businessman” named Michael Lillelund has. I can assume enough to buy her all the drugs she needs to continue the perpetual Spring Break party that is her life. Maybe this Danish “Businessman” is actually a dealer, which would make sense, cuz after spending the last decade committed to getting drunk and fucked up at parties and getting paid for it, she’s not about to stop, even though no one wants to book her to host their party, cuz sad, washed up, 40 year olds kinda put a damper on the vibe for the kids at the party, even they know she’s fucking pathetic…but she needs the fuel to keep going… Here they are staging a kiss which I guess is good publicity for everyone involved but at Tara Reid’s level of failure, this shoulda been a sex tape…which I believe is still a real option for her when rich guys she wants go for hotter, less battered pussy, leaving her with no real options…but prostitution and porn…. Dreams do come true, sometimes 20 years too late, but the still come true dammit.
