On The Come Up: BOSSIP Talks To “The Face” Contestants Devyn, Ebony And Sandra About Breaking Into Modeling And Behind The Scenes Drama

One of these girls might just be the next black model to step into Naomi Campbell’s Louboutins! Last week Oxygen premiered the first episode of their new model competition show “The Face” which features supermodels Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rochas as celebrity judges. BOSSIP had the opportunity to speak with Devyn, Ebony and Sandra, the three black models representing for brown-skinned bangers everywhere with modeling dreams. So far Devyn is already a team favorite, with the three judges each vying for her to join their team. “It was a big shock,” the 21-year-old Bronx native tells BOSSIP of learning that she’d be able to choose any of the three supermodels as her coach. “I was confident in getting into the house, I had convinced myself I’d get in but I wasn’t expecting to be picked by all three coaches whatsoever. I was stoked, it definitely put a big smile on my face.” As a single mother of a two-year-old daughter, juggling several jobs to keep her family afloat, Devyn said that she was drawn to #TeamKarolina because she felt the model mom would better relate to her own struggle. “I wanted to be a place where people could understand my story and my struggle,” Devyn told BOSSIP. “I felt like Naomi would understand, but she wouldn’t be able to relate to it, where Karolina is a mother. She knows what it is to have a child, she knows the struggles, the everyday things like potty training. Naomi doesn’t have kids, she wouldn’t understand. My mindstate on the show isn’t about me, I’m doing it for my daughter. Karolina would be able to understand because she’s a supermodel doing it for her son.” It turns out that Devyn quickly found good company in teammate Ebony, who hails from Indiana and is also a single mother. “Ebony was one of the girls I got closest to,” Devyn told BOSSIP. “I still love her to death to this day, I still support and talk to her. The struggle we had was something we could relate to and we were each someone, we both could lean on, if she was feeling some kind of way and missing her kids I would comfort her. I had a panic attack over the craziness of the competition and not being able to speak to my daughter and she was there for me. Me and Ebony definitely hit it off.” “We have a lot in common, we’re both single moms, we both work really hard for what we have, so it was easy for us to be close,” Ebony told BOSSIP.” If you’ve been watching the show, then you already know that the reality TV drama starts very quickly, and 20-year-old Philadelphia native Sandra finds herself at the center of it from the second episode, which airs tonight. “It’s a competition, I really wasn’t trying to make friends,” Sandra told BOSSIP. “I was there to learn from the best that have done it and I was there to win. I could be cordial, I could be nice but I’m not there to make friends, I was there to work and do business.” We had to ask her if she at least found some comfort in having Ebony and Devyn along for the journey, but it seems that wasn’t the case. “I’m not going to say I got along with them,” Sandra said with a laugh. “I think everybody was moreso… How can I say this, they knew it was a competition and they knew I was there to get it. The girls in the house probably thought I was crazy, but I’m not crazy, i just wanted to chase after my dreams. I wouldn’t say I had arguments with them. I didn’t feel close to them though.” “Oh Gosh, Sandra…” Ebony said when BOSSIP asked her about her castmate. “The maturity level was different, that’s all it is. I didn’t really fight with her, we were on a different page in life. I’m a little older and didn’t have time for the added drama.” Hit the flip for more

Ashley Morrison, CBS News Anchor, Allegedly Roughed Up By Husband

Stunning New York news personality Ashley Morrison was allegedly attacked by her husband, fellow WCBS-TV anchorman Rob Morrison, according to reports. Rob Morrison has since been portrayed as a hard-drinking, verbally abusive bully with a taste for internet porn with a history of incidents with the NYPD. Rob was arrested Sunday after a late-night fight with Ashley Morrison in their Connecticut home, was also arrested for assault after a 2009 altercation with her. The ex-Marine, who served as a foreign correspondent in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been cited in half a dozen domestic incident reports from 2003-09. In one of the incidents, Morrison actually filed a complaint against Ashley; she was the complainant in the other five incidents on file with the police. There were few additional details about the disputes between Ashley and Rob Morrison, 44, who was due in a Connecticut courtroom this morning. A mug shot released after his 1:30 a.m. arrest Sunday showed the typically dapper anchor with a swollen lip, bloodied nose … and an absurd smirk: Ashley Morrison reportedly had red marks around her neck, and Rob Morrison was charged with second-degree strangulation, a felony offense. He was also charged with misdemeanor threatening and disorderly conduct. Ashley Morrison’s mother, Martha Risk, called 911 to summon cops to the Connecticut home where she said her daughter was under attack. Cops said that Morrison was “choking her by the neck with both hands.” It was unclear what the pair, parents of a 7-year-old boy, argued about. Rob Morrison was freed on $100,000 bond after his arrest.

Lady Gaga Visits Sick Fan After Canceling Tour

Lady Gaga had to reluctantly cancel her tour after suffering a hip injury, but she still managed to pay a visit to one fan who had scored a front-row seat. On Wednesday, the pop star met with a young girl suffering from a terminal heart condition who traveled from Wisconsin to Chicago to see her show. Imagine 5-year-old Kayleigh Gurbynski’s sadness when she learned the show was off … or her joy when Gaga showed up in person shortly thereafter. The meeting, which happened in Chicago, had reportedly been orchestrated by local radio-show host Tony Waitekus, who reached out to Gaga’s camp. Even if the show didn’t go on, Gaga’s get-together with Kayleigh did, a poignant moment that Waitekus chronicled on his radio station’s Facebook page. He wrote: “Even though Lady Gaga was not well enough to do the show due to doctors order (suffering from joint pain), she made it a point of still meeting Kayleigh!” “Fantastic for Kayleigh and hats off to [Gaga’s people] for making this happen!” Chronic pain left Lady Gaga unable to walk last week, prompting the cancelation of four shows and eventually the entire leg of the Born This Way Ball. Here’s wishing both the best.

Celebrity Seeds: Jamie Foxx And Daughter Annalise Kick It In Cali

Jamie Foxx was spotted spending time with his youngest daughter Annalyse in L.A. Friday. The four-year-old managed to avoid having her face snapped by photogs, but we’re lovin’ her lil double bunned do’. No word on who the Becky is carrying the baby. Jamie previously told Oprah he doesn’t make mention who his kids’ moms are in attempt to keep his private life under wraps. Judging by the tight look on his face, this just might be the one. SMH. REVIEW: Like John McClane, Bruce Willis Narrowly Survives Subpar ‘A Good Day To Die Hard’

At the risk of sounding ungrateful for a fresh Die Hard sequel, Russia needs its own John McClane movie the way Uncle Sam needs a bright red babushka. On the flimsiest of pretexts, Bruce Willis’ obstinate hero travels all the way to Moscow to find trouble in A Good Day to Die Hard , teaming up with his never-before-seen son to stop a generic terrorist from stealing weapons-grade uranium from Chernobyl — a subpar plot that feels suspiciously like someone tried to plug McClane into a preexisting screenplay. Fox’s shaky bid to boost this installment’s international appeal could backfire domestically. Between this and 2007’s PG-13-rated Live Free or Die Hard , the studio seems determined to test audiences’ definition of a Die Hard movie. Is it enough to air-drop a bruised and bloody Bruce Willis into any old action movie and hope fans follow? Can the series keep trotting out half-forgotten family members — a daughter played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the last one, and now Jai Courtney as McClane’s estranged son Jack — to draw him into the fray? Enticed by either the attractive Russian market or the even more appealing incentives Hungary dangled for shooting in Budapest, someone decided to send McClane abroad, where the NYPD detective has no jurisdiction — and no qualms about using his usual brute-force tactics to stay alive. Considering the original Die Hard pitted its modern-day cowboy against a squad of arch Nazi stereotypes four decades after World War II ended, perhaps it follows that the series should dredge up an old Cold War adversary this time out, conveniently ignoring the fact Chernobyl is as far from Moscow as Three Mile Island is from Detroit. And so the pic, which runs a full reel shorter than its predecessors, sends McClane to the former Soviet Union with a ridiculous plan to spring Jack from jail. (McClane literally saunters up to the courthouse at precisely the moment huge armored vehicles arrive to blow the place apart.) Little does he realize that Jack has things under control, having been arrested as part of an elaborate CIA mission to arrange the defection of a well-connected political prisoner, Yuri Komarov (Sebastian Koch), who claims to have a file with incriminating details on high-ranking government officials. Though not much of a MacGuffin, it’s more than enough to get things rolling, and director John Moore ( Behind Enemy Lines ) delivers an elaborate, logistically daunting car chase around the capital, featuring Jack and Komarov in a van, a squad of heavily armed assassins in pursuit, and third-wheel John bringing up the rear — a surly papa bear determined to protect his endangered cub, whether Jack wants his help or not. The entire sequence works like gangbusters, giving the new Dolby Atmos super-surround system (debuted on Brave ) a real workout, though it borrows a bit too heavily from other films in which Westerners have laid waste to rival cities. Generally speaking, the action elements aren’t the problem here. They’re certainly loud enough. It’s the obligatory intra-family squabbling and preposterous plotting that threaten to derail this nonsensical sequel, especially a series of swapped allegiances between Komarov and his daughter Irina (Yulia Snigir), a lethal stunner with her own share of daddy issues. Things go bang, the McClanes get their share of battle scars and the trauma of it all proves the perfect bonding experience to heal old wounds. “Need a hug?” dad sarcastically asks his stand-offish son, who seems to have inherited his sense of humor from the other side of the family. Willis still packs that rapscallion charm, balancing his wisecracking, reluctant-hero shtick with the unstoppable, all-American quality that earned the original film its title. But the chemistry between him and Courtney is nonexistent, with the younger thesp, who makes co-star Cole Hauser look expressive, adding so little to the equation, one can only hope the studio doesn’t plan to pass the franchise on to him. Watching this expendable, action-packed sequel, it’s impossible not to think in such cynical terms. To Fox’s credit, the series is permitted to return to its original R rating, which means McClane can once again cuss freely. (Oddly, cutting back on language, rather than violence, earned the previous pic a PG-13.) Still, the closest thing to a new catch-phrase screenwriter Skip Woods can muster is the exasperated, “Some fuckin’ vacation!” — a line that openly contradicts the reason the film sent him to Russia to begin with. What vacation? If this is McClane’s idea of time away from the office, they’d better send him back to work before he hits retirement age.

Justice Served: Chi-Town Lawyer Convicted Of Murdering NBA Baller Eddy Curry’s Baby Mama And 10-Month-Old Daughter!

Chicago Lawyer Convicted Of Murdering Eddy Curry’s Girlfriend And 10-Month-Old Daughter Via NYPost A jury has convicted a Chicago attorney of murdering former NBA center Eddy Curry’s ex-girlfriend and infant daughter four years ago. Fredrick Goings showed no reaction when the jury’s guilty verdict was read Tuesday in the January 2009 shooting deaths of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her and Curry’s 10-month-old daughter, Ava. Goings represented Henry in a child custody case against the former Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Miami Heat center, and was also romantically involved with her. Prosecutors say Henry tried to end her relationship with Goings and moved out with her and Curry’s two children. They say Goings shot Henry in her home while she was holding the infant. Her and Curry’s son, who was then 3 years old, was also in the home but wasn’t harmed. Curry, who now plays in China, didn’t testify. Says Nova’s mother, Yolan Henry: “I’m feeling elated. I can breathe,” she said. “I feel justice has been served.” Yolan Henry testified that she found her surviving grandson, Noah, with the bodies of his sister and mother, and that he told her, “Fredrick did it.” It’s good to see the system benefit those who deserve justice and punish a$$holes that kill babies. WATCH: Greta Gerwig Acts Like 27 Is The New 47 In ‘Frances Ha’ Clip

Who needs Eeyore when you’ve got the lovely and witty  Greta Gerwig feeling blue in black and white in this clip from Noah Baumbach ‘s Frances Ha . Gerwig is Frances, a live-in-the-moment New Yorker  with a knack for getting herself into awkward situations. In this clip, Frances frets over whether she looks older than her 27 years, and her anxiety is helped along by Michael Zegen ( The Walking Dead) who assures her that “27 is old, though.” Zegen’s character must be in his 20s, too, because most men know by the time they turn 30 that loaded questions like that should be avoided at all costs. Frances Ha gets a limited release date on May 17. For reference, the poster is not black and white. It’s hot pink. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter.  Follow Movieline on Twitter.

NYC’s Beautiful People Spellbound By ‘Beautiful Creatures’ Premiere

As Lena, the spell-casting heroine of Beautiful Creatures , Alice Englert makes it snow in South Carolina, but she was powerless to stop the weather from stranding her in Baltimore for Cinema Society’s New York premiere of the movie. Fortunately, her co-stars Viola Davis  and Emmy Rossum  were on hand to introduce the movie to a VIP crowd of New Yorkers that, judging from the discussion at the post-premiere party at Cole’s Greenwich Village restaurant, came away impressed by the film’s performances and writing.   Although Beautiful Creatures is directed at the Twilight crowd, it’s much smarter and — for a supernatural teen love story — more realistic than the sparkly vampire franchise, thanks to Richard LaGravenese’s witty, thoughtful script and some excellent casting choices. With the exception of Rossum, the main teen cast members in Beautiful Creatures are not cut from the Team Edward, Jacob or Bella molds. Leading man Alden Ehrenreich  reminds me of a young Bill Hader from Saturday Night Live   with a dash of Jack Nicholson in the eyes and brows, and he’s got real charisma and range as Ethan, the book-devouring smart-ass who dreams of ditching his small-town life for New York City and falls for the exotic but troubled Lena when she transfers to his school. Englert, who is the daughter of Australian filmmaker Jane Campion , also does a great job of conveying the complexity of Lena, who’s tormented by the bitchiness of her Bible-thumping classmates and, yet, has the power to smote them all.  She’s also living with the knowledge that, on her 16th birthday in a few weeks, she will either “turn to the dark” and use her supernatural powers for evil, or “to the light.” And yet, though Lena’s fate (and Evan’s role in it), form the core of Beautiful Creatures,   the adults get plenty of scenery to chew. Emma Thompson and Jeremy Irons play two rival casters who battle each other over Lena’s fate, and their confrontation at a church meeting is one of the movie’s high points. Irons is particularly memorable as a sardonic, old-school Southern aristocrat fed up with the town’s shabby treatment of his niece. Among the boldfaced names that were in attendance at the screening and party, which Dior Beauty hosted:  Ivanka Trump, Debra Winger and her husband Arliss Howard, Crash director   Paul Haggis , Girls actor and filmmaker Alex Karpovsky, former Brady Bunch actress Eve Plumb and Dianne Vavra, public relations executive for Dior Beauty, which co-hosted the event with Cinema Society.
