Mel Gibson Condemned For Alleged Racist, Sexist Rant Against Ex

Reported taped outburst against Oksana Grigorieva ‘reveal the actor’s fundamental character flaw,’ Jesse Jackson says. By Gil Kaufman Mel Gibson Photo: Jordan Strauss/WireImage Mel Gibson’s messy public split from the mother of his 8-month-old daughter got uglier on Thursday, when reports emerged about a 30-minute tape-recorded rant of the actor hurling racist and sexist epithets against Oksana Grigorieva. Amid reports that physical abuse allegedly took place in the brief relationship Gibson, 54, had with the 40-year-old Russian model/singer following his divorce from his wife of 30 years, RadarOnline revealed that the actor used the N-word and other expletives during a profanity-laced argument with his ex. Gibson’s spokesperson did not deny that the speaker in the taped outburst was his client, but the one-time box-office giant has not commented on the recording as of press time. The couple, who were first seen together a month after Gibson’s divorce last year from the mother of his seven children, broke up in April and are fighting for custody of their daughter. Grigorieva reportedly made the tape because she feared for her life after Gibson allegedly made threats against her. During one segment, Gibson allegedly says, “I am going to come and burn the f–king house down … but you will b— me first.” And in another, he reportedly tells her that she looks like a “f—ing pig in heat” who risked getting “raped by a pack of n—–s,” as their baby screams in the background. The Reverend Jesse Jackson told Radar that the latest racist outburst proved that Gibson has a “fundamental character flaw.” “Mel Gibson’s outburst demonstrates once again that we are far from a society that is ‘beyond race and racism,’ ” Jackson told the site. “His penchants for anti-Semitic and racist diatribes reveal the actor’s fundamental character flaw. … He needs help.” The Los Angeles NAACP released a statement to TMZ condemning the outburst. “An apology is insufficient given his history of racism, sexism and anti-Semitism,” L.A. branch president Leon Jenkins said. “No amount of words will change his image as an out of date and out of control racist. Only [with] a sustained period of positive acts can his legacy be redeemed.” Renowned attorney Gloria Alred also got into the mix and sent Gibson an open letter via Radar saying, “As an attorney who has represented many sexual assault victims and as a woman who is a survivor of rape myself, I want you to know how deeply offensive, appalling and harmful your reported statements are.” This is not the first time Gibson has been called out in public for using racial slurs. The “Lethal Weapon” actor, once one of the most popular, bankable movie stars in the world, was blasted by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation in 1991 over an interview in which he made derogatory comments about homosexuals. Several of his movies — including “Braveheart” and “The Passion of the Christ” — have been criticized for their portrayal of homosexuals and Jews. In addition to allegations that “Christ” had anti-Semitic overtones, a leaked report from a DUI arrest in July 2006 had Gibson — who has struggled with alcohol abuse — making anti-Jewish remarks to one of the arresting officers, saying, “F—ing Jews. … Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” He also made derogatory, sexist remarks to a female officer during the same traffic stop, calling her “sugar t–s.” Gibson later confirmed that he made the comments and apologized twice through his publicist, but the incident appeared to have a lasting impact on his movie career, which has stalled since the arrest. Gibson has denied claims by Grigorieva that he knocked her teeth out during an argument. Both parties have filed restraining orders against each other in the midst of the custody battle. A spokesperson for Gibson could not be reached for comment at press time.

Teresa Giudice: Would You Hit It?

Despite having a baby girl just over a month ago, Teresa Giudice tells the latest issue of In Touch Weekly she’s never been happier with her body. Of course, the breast enhancement surgery she underwent last year helps a great deal with that confidence. Teresa told the tabloid: “I just got them done last summer, so this is my first time wearing a bikini and I have to say, this is the happiest I have ever been with my body. I feel like I have the whole package!” What else went into this package, aside from silicone? The Real Housewives of New Jersey star dished on a number of weight-related topics: How much does she weigh? I hardly ever weigh myself, but I do fit back into most of the clothes I wore before I had Audriana. I think I’m a 27 jean size and size 4 in dresses. Does she diet? I’m never on a diet. I always eat what I want. When I was pregnant, I had to eat anything that was in front of my face. It’s an Italian thing — they say if you see something and don’t eat it, your baby will get a birthmark! What’s her favorite body part? I love my new boobies, but if I had to pick between an ass or boobs, I’d have to say my ass is more important to me. I’m proud of my bubble butt! Got all that, readers? Now, you tell us: Would you hit this?

Madonna Talks About Reining In Daughter Lourdes’ Style

Mother/daughter duo have teamed up for the juniors fashion line Material Girl. By Mawuse Ziegbe Madonna and Lourdes Leon Photo: James Devaney/ Getty Images Although Madonna has built one of the biggest pop careers in history on body-baring costumes, hip-thrusting dance moves, controversial music and all-around sensationalism, she doesn’t tolerate that type of nonsense when it comes to her teen daughter Lourdes — not when she’s heading to school, anyway. Madge, who is collaborating with 13-year-old Lola on the juniors fashion line Material Girl , said that while she appreciates her pop progeny’s daring approach to fashion, she’s not down with her daughter tarting it up for the classroom. “I always have two reactions when Lola comes into my room with an outfit on: One is, ‘Oh my God, she looks amazing, what incredible style.’ And then my second reaction is, ‘She’s dressed completely inappropriately for school,’ ” Madonna told People in a video interview. “I usually tell her to take off her 3-inch or 6-inch platforms and pull her skirt down just a little bit and take off some of the black eye makeup.” Even though Madonna has spent the better part of the last three decades strutting around onstage and entertaining millions of fans in some iteration of a figure-hugging bodysuit, the pop legend insists that her approach to Lola’s look is a function of Madge’s current identity as a regular ol’ mom. “She does have amazing style, but I am the typical mother, where I say, ‘Oh my God, you can’t go to school dressed like that!’ ” They may not agree when it comes to school clothes, but mother and daughter are working together on their Material Girl line, which launches August 3. While Madonna calls the shots when it comes to Lourdes’ home-room fashion, the diva said Lola’s style drives their joint collection. “My role is really to make sure we were all going in the right direction … and it was a line that I could stand behind and be proud of and feel good about and one that she could also feel represented her,” Madonna said. “I really like the way Lola dresses, and I think this line is absolutely an extension of her taste.” What do you think about Madonna and Lourdes teaming up for a fashion line? Vanessa Hudgens Has Also Grown Up

Miley Cyrus isn’t the only young actress making a point of telling the world that she’s all grown up. She’s just the only one who feels the need to do so by simulating a same-sex kiss with a back-up dancer. Vanessa Hudgens, conversely, is giving interviews to magazines in which she talks about taking on more mature film roles (such as the daughter of a drug addict in next year’s Beastly ) and admits that she actually dislikes life in the spotlight. Here are a few excerpts of such a discussion with the new issue of Glamour : On pressure to be a role model : When I am around kids and they come up to me, of course I am going to act a certain way, but at the end of the day, I’m doing this for myself. I’m going to be doing movies kids can’t watch. On attending public events : I can’t breathe, and I get claustrophobic. It’s a very odd business. I do it because I love acting, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to it. On bonding with boyfriend Zac Efron : Right off the bat, we had a connection. I think everybody could see it. When we had our audition, they paired us together. And he was adorable. On her nude photos scandal : I think that it has made me stronger. But it still hurts. It sucks because [the photos were] supposed to be private, but at the same time a lot of actresses do it [in movies]. Eventually, I’m sure that I will. But I don’t know if I would be able to do it now. Has she grown up too fast? Maybe. And maybe that’s the reason why I am silly at 21. But I don’t regret it. And if I wasn’t how I was when I was younger, I wouldn’t be how I am today. You know? And I love the way I am today. On her love of denim : A, it goes with anything. And, B, if your jeans hug you the right way, you feel like a sexpot. [Laughs.] And they get better with age!

Oksana Grigorieva Says Mel Gibson Punched Her in the Face; Actor Accuses Her of Lying

Mel Gibson’s lawyer says his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is making up horrible stories about him because she’s having buyer’s remorse … so to speak. Stephen Kolodny says it’s all over a custody agreement she signed: “Oksana’s deceitful conduct in trying to terminate Mel’s access to his daughter continues.” This is serious stuff: Oksana Grigorieva claims Mel Gibson punched her twice in the face last January, knocking out her teeth and giving her a concussion. It all started last week, when the Russian pianist took out a restraining order barring Mel from getting near Oksana or their daughter, 8-month-old Lucia. The next day, Mel’s lawyer went to court and got the judge to modify the order, allowing Gibson to have contact with the child, his first with Grigorieva. Kolodny claims, by modifying the order, the court rejected Oksana’s argument that the baby was in danger and affirmed their recent custody agreement. SHE SAID, HE SAID : Did Mel beat Oksana, or is this a bitter ploy? Sources connected with Oksana Grigorieva, however, claim she believes Mel Gibson is ” extremely violent ” and poses an ongoing threat to her and the baby. Kolodny scoffs at the claim, saying “Mel was hopeful that their break-up was behind them and Lucia would be the beneficiary of cooperative parenting.” “Apparently Lucia will be denied that good fortune.” He noted that they agreed to a deal offering overnight, unrestricted visitation, and which would result in Mel having 50/50 custody of their daughter. Finally, Kolodny says, “Making sensational allegations is not the way to resolve this,” adding that Mel wants a custody resolution in court, not the press. Lies or not, allegations surfaced last week from sources in Oksana’s camp who said she had “to protect the baby during one of [Mel’s] violent episodes.” “She tried to protect his reputation, despite her fears of him. She regrets believing his empty promises to obtain help to control his violent nature.”

Abusing father labelled ‘evil incarnate’

June 26th 2010… A JUDGE has called a New York man “evil incarnate” before sentencing him to serve 50 years to life for sexually assaulting his six-month-old daughter and dumping her in the woods. Cory Clarke was ordered to serve a maximum 25 years for attempted murder and a maximum 25 years to life for predatory sexual assault against a child, the two most serious charges of which he was found guilty in March. The sentences must be served consecutively, meaning Clarke, 28, will not be eligible for parole until he turns 78. He was also sentenced on other charges for sexual crimes and child endangerment. “On that day, you lost your humanity and you became evil incarnate,” Judge Frank LaBuda said. “This was a vicious, evil act committed beyond the pale of reason or explanation.” Clarke, who had just been awarded visitation rights to his daughter, left her in a forest near the Wal-Mart in Monticello, about 145km from New York City, on July 4 2009. He then reported the baby as missing to Wal-Mart employees. He told employees and police investigators he left his daughter outside a bathroom while he changed her brother’s diaper and returned to find her gone. Five hours later, the infant was found alive in a wooded area about 150m from the store, lying face down in mud and grass with no nappy or pants. Clarke was eventually accused of abusing the baby on July 3 at his home in Monticello. Prosecutors said he dumped the baby and concocted the kidnapping story to hide the abuse. “He should have been her protector, her shield from the evils of the outside world, but instead he became her assaulter, her abuser,” District Attorney Jim Farrell said. Fred Neroni, Clarke’s attorney, would not comment after the sentencing but vowed to file an appeal within 30 days. The baby’s mother did not attend the sentencing. http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/world/abusing-father-labelled-evil-incarnat… added by: eden49

NPR Twice Promoted David Weigel as Chronicler of Conservative Extremism

The idea that Washington Post writer David Weigel was supposed to be a conservative — and not merely someone reporting on the conservative movement — was clearly not based on a review of Weigel’s output. Weigel didn’t just deconstruct conservatives for the Post, but was also presented twice recently by National Public Radio as a wise man assessing the fringiness of conservatives. Last October , they wanted to know how strange Fox News was, and whether they could be blamed for Tea Party protests. Weigel called their influence “massive.” Weigel typically suggested Fox and Glenn Beck were not “realistic” in painting President Obama as connected to ACORN and the SEIU. On NPR’s Fresh Air on February 23 , before he joined the Post, Weigel reported on CPAC and the Tea Party and embraced host Terry Gross’s idea that conservatives shouldn’t be big fans of government-enhancing Dick Cheney:  GROSS: So if the conservative movement is glad that Bush isn’t around anymore, and if they think that he embraced big government, why was Dick Cheney such a rock star at CPAC? I mean, if anything, Cheney is the person most responsible for the expansion of the powers of the executive branch. WEIGEL: Well… GROSS: And Cheney was the person who – was the architect in a – one of the architects of the war in Iraq, which was certainly government getting us into a very long war, a war that many people think was not only fought on false premises but many people believe has been very destructive both to America and Iraq. So why did he get such the rousing welcome that he did, if in many ways he represented the expansion of government’s power? WEIGEL: That’s an excellent point, it’s just that he represents a specific kind of government expansion, the expansion of the national security state and the expansion of America’s role in spreading democracy around the world with military action. Those are very popular with conservatives, and that’s a dispute. CPAC was pretty convivial this year, but the dispute that existed there was between more Ron Paul-type activists who think America should pull back from engagement in the world and wiretapping and all these debates that are hot right now, and the more traditional conservatives, who think anything that the president needs to kill terrorists is justifiable . So that’s why he was cheered. Cheney was a surprise guest who was introduced by his daughter, Liz Cheney, who has become a pretty successful pundit, basically making that argument, arguing sometimes against reality that everything Barack Obama does is aiding terrorists and making America less safe. That got huge cheers. Weigel also talked about how CPAC organizers were downplaying a presidential straw poll that Ron Paul won, and the idea that Weigel’s libertarian doesn’t come through in this segment: WEIGEL: But conservatives were united in trying to diminish this result, because they don’t want their image to the American people to be a septuagenarian politician who bangs on about the need to pull – you know, to close down American bases and speaks at meetings of the John Birch Society. I mean, it was accidentally very revealing of how far right the party has gotten. GROSS: Do you mean that Paul’s victory is representative of how far right the party has gotten? WEIGEL: Oh, yeah, this is an unscientific straw poll that was conducted, but they’ve all been unscientific straw polls, and they usually don’t end with this very libertarian – and libertarian is a term that gets tossed around a lot. Paul specifically is one of these guys who thinks we just really need to roll back the federal government to at least what it was like before 1912, before the progressive movement. Actually, I correct myself: before Teddy Roosevelt. Weigel also suggested the Tea Party movement weren’t Dick Armey’s puppets, but they didn’t know which bills to oppose until Armey told them:  GROSS: The Tea Party movement wants to be something new and different and have some impact on the Republican Party. But one of the chief funders of parts of the Tea Party movement is Dick Armey, through his organization Freedom Works. And Dick Armey is really, you know, a voice of the past. I mean he was one of the – he was a Republican leader during the Clinton administration and goes back before that. Like, when was he in Congress? WEIGEL: He was elected in 1984 and he left on his own volition in 2002. I mean he was in no danger of being defeated. He just retired to become, like a lot of former congressmen, a lobbyist with some political interests. GROSS: Okay. So what are his interests in funding the Tea Party movement? WEIGEL: One thing Armey would say is that he doesnt fund the Tea Party movement. He loves to contrast what they see as union thugs and ACORN putting Democratic rallies together with Tea Party people gassing up their cars and driving to Washington for his rallies. There’s some dishonesty there. (Laughter) I mean Freedom Works is always on the scene. It helps set these things up. It’s got full-time activists who help get permits. And I mean I’ve been to a couple of events at Freedom Works’ office where theyll have huge, you know, nice buffet spreads and things like that for Tea Party activists and conservative bloggers to meet and strategize. But it’s not a ton of money they’re spending. He has figured out that the very libertarian beliefs he’s had for a long time, which he always thought had some sort of, you know, if not a majority support, some huge support in the country he just couldnt locate, well, that support’s been located. So he is happily steering these guys and giving them candidates they can support and giving them policies they can support. I mean Tea Party activists are not – do not come to these rallies with a set of political goals. They generally believe the things I’ve been talking about – about the Constitution, about how Obama’s trying to wreck it. But for them to come out against a bill or believe that that bill contains a provision that’s going to kill their grandmothers, something like that, that is coming from people like Armey, who have these interests – have lobbying interests in some respects, who want that message to get out there. And that’s what you see. I mean I dont – I really don’t think that conservative activists at the top like Armey have been puppeteering this movement. I mean they’re right, it was – it did spring out of some part of the American map in reaction to Obama’s policies. But they are telling it what it should stand for as much as Fox News is informing them what Obama is doing that they should be opposing.

Ex-Wife, Daughter Speak on John Edwards Affair, Savaging of Their Lives

John Edwards and his daughter Cate used to be tight. Then, the disgraced politician became one of the worst people alive, cheating on his cancer-stricken wife, knocking up his mistress, paying an aide to take responsibility for the child. That sort of thing. Now, in her first comments since her father’s secret life became exposed, Cate is siding – strongly – with her mother, Elizabeth. She told People : “There are the things she taught without words, [such as] how to continue to live your life on your own terms when it somehow becomes savaged by people you never invited into it.” (Pssst, Rielle Hunter : We think she’s talking about you.) Elizabeth Edwards also speaks on in next week’s issue of the magazine, saying she’s hard at work on a paperback edition of her memoir, Resilience . It will include a new chapter reflecting on the most damaging aspects of the fallout from her husband’s infidelity. Says Mrs. Edwards: “It’s my story and I’m writing it from here on out – nobody else.”

Alicia Keys, Sporting Baby Bump, Draws Largest Crowd In ‘Good Morning America’ Concert History

Singer opens set with ‘Empire State of Mind.’ By Rebecca Thomas Alicia Keys performs on “Good Morning America” on Friday Photo: George Napolitano/ Getty Images NEW YORK — She wasn’t sporting a cape or an “S” on her chest, but Alicia Keys seemed to live up to the title of her empowerment single, “Superwoman,” drawing the largest crowd ever amassed in the history of ABC’s “Good Morning America” summer concert series on Friday (June 25) morning. This daughter of New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood took the stage at Central Park at 8 a.m., the temperature already tilting toward 80 degrees as she kicked things off with her rendition of the city’s new unofficial anthem, “Empire State of Mind” . “It’s so good to be home, you know, so we gotta talk about where we from,” Keys smiled. Clad in a thigh-baring eggshell-colored jumper, chunky bangles snaking up one arm, Keys performed the tune on piano until the lyrics called for concertgoers to put “one hand in the air for the big city.” The 29-year-old shot up from the bench, revealing the first hint of a baby bump beneath a wide belt as she closed out the final chorus to audience roars: “Now you’re in New York/ These streets will make you feel brand-new/ Big lights will inspire you/ Hear it for New York!” The expectant mother, who recently announced her engagement to producer Swizz Beatz , with whom she’s expecting her first child, paused to talk up her charitable work with Keep a Child Alive, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting African children and families affected by HIV/AIDS. “GMA” host Robyn Roberts congratulated the mother-to-be and complimented Keys’ ensemble, which was paired with towering stilettos. Keys called the impending birth “a blessing.” The R&B diva also introduced the winner of a contest to become the blogger for her newly created website, . The 12-time Grammy winner continued the set with selections from her latest album, The Element of Freedom, launching into the whispery “Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart.” At the song’s piano coda, Keys solicited the crowd’s assistance: “Somebody help me!” and they happily obliged, raining la la la’s across the park. One of a group of teenage female fans standing close to the stage, gushed that she would “die” if Keys brought out current Billboard sensation Drake, as the band began to play the light percussion of “Unthinkable,” written by the Toronto MC . Drake didn’t materialize, but Keys’ clear vocals were more than enough. When fans erupted into chants for an encore, they seemed stunned to see Keys pause then signal “one song” with her index finger. They returned her generosity by singing along word-for-word — and loudly — to the celebratory “No One.” What did you think of Alicia’s “Good Morning America” concert? Tell us in the comments!
