Chuck Berry Dies; Legendary Musician Was 90

Chuck Berry, the long-time musician who many credit with popularizing the entire genre of rock ‘n roll, died Saturday in Missouri, the St. Charles County police has confirmed. He was 90 years old. “St. Charles County police responded to a medical emergency on Buckner Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. today (Saturday, March 18),” the department said via statement this afternoon. The statement continued as follows: “Inside the home, first responders observed an unresponsive man and immediately administered lifesaving techniques. Unfortunately, the 90-year-old man could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at 1:26 p.m. “The St. Charles County Police Department sadly confirms the death of Charles Edward Anderson Berry Sr., better known as legendary musician Chuck Berry.” Concludes the post, which was written on Facebook:  “The family requests privacy during this time of bereavement.” The singing, guitar playing and general showmanship of Berry have often been credited as having enormous influence on Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys, among other legends. The latter group’s “Surfin’ USA,” for example, so overly copied Berry’s song “Sweet Little Sixteen” that the rock pioneer complained and was eventually given a co-writing credit on the track. Berry performed for over seven decades. His best known hits likely remain Roll Over Beethoven, My Ding-a-Ling, Maybelline (his first real hit, released in 1955) and Johnny B. Goode. The latter was immortalized by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future, who basically emulated Berry’s moves on stage in that memorable movie. The veteran musician received a lifetime achievement Grammy Award in 1984 and was among the first inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. By the late 1970s, after years of success in the spotlight, Berry career took a nosedive. In 1979, was found guilty of tax evasion and sentenced to four months in prison. However, he remained a worshiped figure by the music icons he had inspired. When Keith Richards inducted Berry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, saying at the time that he “lifted every lick” that Berry ever played for himself. Upon learning of his death, motown group The Jacksons Tweeted the following: “Chuck Berry merged blues & swing into the phenomenon of early rock’n’roll. In music, he cast one of the longest shadows. Thank You Chuck.” Added Bruce Springsteen: “Chuck Berry was rock’s greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock ‘n’ roll writer who ever lived. “This is a tremendous loss of a giant for the ages.” Expect many more tributes to follow. Berry had announced in October that he would actually release a new studio album some time in 2017. We send our condolences to those who knew Chuck Berry best. What a legend. May he rest in peace. Jesus Take The Wheel: Pregnant Aspiring Model Killed By Freight Train During Railroad Photo Shoot

Aspiring Texas Model And Soon-To-Be Bride Killed By Freight Train Just…wow. 19-year-old Fredzania Thompson was an aspiring model, an expectant mother and a soon-to-be bride. Sadly she will not be able to see any of those dreams come to fruition as a result of a tragic and heartbreaking train accident. According to The Eagle , Fredzania was killed on Friday while standing in between two railroad tracks during a photo shoot. She was struck by a freight train. Witnesses told investigators she was standing where two train tracks meet. Police said one set of tracks belonged to BNSF and the other to Union Pacific. Thomson was standing between the tracks and watching for an oncoming train from BNSF with her back turned toward an oncoming Union Pacific train. Witnesses said she tried to cross the Union Pacific tracks to avoid the BNSF train and was hit by the Union Pacific train. She died en route to a local hospital. Fredzania would have been 20-years-old on this past Monday and just two weeks ago she informed her 25-year-old fiance of her pregnancy: “She said, ‘You’re going to be a dad again,’” he said. Thompson deeply loved Chatman’s 7-year-old son, who would have become her stepson. She seemed to be a motherly figure to him, Chatman said, and the boy has been troubled by her death. “He woke up crying this morning,” Chatman said quietly. “He thought [her death] was a dream.” Can’t even imagine the kind of pain her family and friends are feeling right now. Our thoughts are with them all. Image via Facebook

Robert Osborne Dies: Beloved Turner Classic Movies Host Was 84

You may not recognize the name Robert Osborne, but if you’re a fan of the Turner Classic Movies network, you almost certainly recognize his face. For 23 years, Osborn was the face of TCM, the number one cable destination for lovers of Old Hollywood and budding young filmmakers alike. A respected film historian and preservationist, Osborne was hand-selected by Ted Turner when the network launched in 1994. He was on the air to introduce the network’s very first film, Gone With the Wind, on April 14, 1994. “Robert was embraced by devoted fans who saw him as a trusted expert and friend,” TCM general manager Jennifer Dorian said in a statement released moments ago. “His calming presence, gentlemanly style, encyclopedia knowledge of film history, fervent support of film preservation and highly personal interviewing style all combined to make him a truly world-class host.” Dorian added: “Robert’s contributions were fundamental in shaping TCM into what it is today, and we owe him a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.” In addition to his time at TCM, Osborne worked as a columnist for The Hollywood Reporter for several decades. His “Rambling Reporter” column ran in the magazine from 1983 to 2009 and was considered a must-read amongst industry insiders. Tributes to Osborne began pouring in on social media within minutes of the announcement of this death, thus making the beloved TV icon a worldwide trending topic within minutes: “Very sad to hear about Robert Osborne passing. I programmed on TCM with him in 2015 & it was a treat. He couldn’t have been more charming,” tweeted filmmaker Edgar Wright. “Robert Osborne was a class act, a true gentleman & his historical nuggets as TCM host made watching those great old movies even better. RIP,” wrote Larry King. “All of us are better for having known him – I know I am,” said Osborne’s longtime co-star Ben Mankiwiecz. “So saddened by the death of Robert Osborne of @tcm. He helped spark my interest in classic films. He was a special man,” tweeted Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak. One Twitter user suggested perhaps the best method of paying tribute to a man whose life was so fully devoted to the cinema: “I think the best way to honor the life of Robert Osborne is to watch as many classic films as possible. Going to start right now. ” View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

Emma Watson: I Can Be a Feminist AND Have Boobs!

Emma Watson is a gift to this world that we don't deserve. Not even a little bit. She came to us so many years ago as the intelligent, courageous, nerdy but lovably Hermione Granger, and she hasn't disappointed us once in all this time. One of the most admirable things about Emma is that for the past couple of years, she's been a loud and proud feminist — so much so that she's spoken at the United Nations about feminist issues. Her fight for women's rights is actually one of the most notable things about her these days. So when she posed topless for Vanity Fair, some people felt the need to talk trash about her . One journalist tweeted “Emma Watson: 'Feminism, feminism… gender wage gap… why oh why am I not taken seriously… feminism… oh, and here are my tits!'” Because to some, Emma can't be a feminist and have visible breasts at the same time. Luckily, Emma has heard about the controversy surrounding the photo shoot, and she's taking the time to speak out about it. And what she has to say is simply delightful. “Feminism is about giving women choice,” she explained. “Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It's about freedom, it's about liberation, it's about equality.” “I really don't know what my tits have to do with it.” See Emma be her usual amazing self in the interview below:

A spokesperson for Billboard Entertainment Group broke the news in a statement issued to several media outlets: “We are all mourning the loss of our friend and colleague, Tommy Page,” the statement reads. “He was a magnetic soul and a true entertainer.” The death is being reported as a “suspected suicide.” Page’s fame peaked in the early ’90s, when “I’ll Be Your Everything” reached number one on the US charts and spent 13 weeks in the top 40. In 1992, at the height of his popularity, Page played himself on an episode of Full House that’s fondly remembered by fans of the show. He went on to record nine studio albums. Donald Faison Mourns Death of Ex-Wife with a Touching Tribute

With iconic roles in Scrubs and Clueless, we’re used to Donald Faison bringing us so much laughter. But today, Donald is bringing the tears. Seriously, this will very likely break your heart. Because while Donald is happily married to CaCee Cobb these days, she wasn’t his first wife. In 2001, he married a woman named Lisa Askey, who was a nursing student when they met. They were married for four years, and in that time, they had three children — twins Dade and Kaya, and a son named Kobe. Unfortunately, Lisa passed away this week. We don’t yet know what happened, but we do know that Donald and his children are mourning her death … and that they’re moving us to tears. Donald posted this photo, originally posted by his son Dade (we’re assuming these are the hands of Dade and his mother), and his caption was absolutely heartbreaking. “My son Dade is very brave,” he wrote. “Today he and his brother Kobe and sister Kaya lost their mother. Lisa Askey Faison.” “She and I never really saw eye to eye,” he admitted, “but one thing we did share was our love for our children. RIP Lisa. You raised three beautiful children into fine adults and I am forever grateful for that.” “May god bless your soul with light and love.” Donald also shared his son’s original tribute, which read “I just wanted to say thank you so much mom! You have been there for me when I needed you most.” “I can’t believe it has come to this but I know you are in a better place right now. I love you with all my heart and one day we shall meet again.” “You worked so hard and never gave up no matter how hard times got. R.I.P. mom and until next time!” he finished. Donald and Lisa’s twins, Dade and Kaya, just turned 18, but their younger son, Kobe, is only 16 years old. Donald is a very active father, and obviously a very caring father , so we’re sure he’ll be helping his children through what has to be a rough time. Our condolences to the whole family … they clearly lost a very special woman. View Slideshow: 22 Celebrity Dads We Love
