Wiz Khalifa Knew Amber Rose Was An ‘Amazing Superstar’

Wiz brags to MTV News about his boo, who is working on her debut album. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sam Hendrick and Sway Calloway Wiz Khalifa Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images Wiz Khalifa has always believed in Amber Rose. His boo may have started out as a model, but Rose is now branching out into a number of different endeavors including fashion design, acting and making music. “She’s amazing. I love Amber so much, as a person and just watching her grow and just take things on,” Wiz told MTV News on Saturday on the red carpet at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. “I just really get to sit back and watch her become this amazing superstar that I already knew she was. Now everybody else gets to see it.” Khalifa believes in his girl so much that he lent his vocals to her debut song “Fame,” which Rose released online two weeks ago. On the single, the stately model sings of the pitfalls of being in the limelight. But “Fame” has received criticism, something Rose is familiar with. “I knew when I put out this single that I was gonna deal with scrutiny or people that might like the song but just because it’s me, they don’t like it — they just don’t want to give it a chance, but that’s OK,” Rose said on “RapFix Live” earlier this month. “They don’t have to take me as an artist right now. I’ll just have to prove it to them.” Despite the naysayers, Rose insists that she has been getting a lot of positive feedback on the record that she co-wrote. She is currently in the studio working on an album. “I have probably about five songs done, but I’m taking my time,” she said, adding that she takes the music “very seriously.” Though Wiz always believed, at first it was difficult for Amber to embrace her growing popularity. “It was hard for me to embrace the fact that I was famous. Even just being out and taking pictures. I was always very quiet,” she said. “It was a little weird for me and I had to get used to it. And now that I’ve embraced it, I’m ready to move on and do everything that I enjoy doing — one being music.” What did you think of Amber Rose’s “Fame”? Tell us in the comments! REVIEW: Tepid But Harmless Dirty Girl Makes Special Plea for ’80s Teen Misfits

Every era has its misfits, people who feel out of step with their contemporaries and the world. As a plea for tolerance and understanding of oddballs, Dirty Girl , the debut feature from writer-director Abe Sylvia, hits every note so squarely on the beat that in the end, it’s nothing but square. It doesn’t matter that Sylvia has stocked the soundtrack with killer ’80s pop from the likes of Bow Wow Wow, Teena Marie and Joan Jett. The movie’s true poster girl is the drippy Melissa Manchester, urging us to sing from our souls, because she thinks we can make it.

REVIEW: De Niro, Statham and Clive Owen in a Pizza-Guy Mustache: So This is the Killer Elite?

What do you call an action movie manned by people who look as if they don’t want to be there? An inertia movie? Action movies aren’t just about action — they’re also about presence, about watching appealing or compelling personalities go about the business of kicking ass. Killer Elite features one proven action star, Jason Statham and two actors who have played fewer action roles, Robert De Niro and Clive Owen. But it’s all these actors can do to look present and accounted for. The picture, the debut feature of Irish director Gary McKendry, is rote and joyless, an exercise in disposability.

Mindless Behavior Predict Big Things For #1 Girl

After touring with Justin Bieber and Janet Jackson, the MB boys finally drop their debut album. By Tami Katzoff Mindless Behavior Photo: MTV News After three years of preparation in the studio and on the road ( with the likes of Justin Bieber and Janet Jackson), the young men of Mindless Behavior are finally able to share the result of their efforts: their debut album, #1 Girl. Taking a quick break from an album signing session at Basement Mix Records in Brooklyn, teens Prodigy, Princeton, Ray Ray and Roc Royal talked to MTV News about everything that’s led up to this moment. “It’s all come down to this day,” Princeton said of their Tuesday release-day. “Last night we stayed up until 12 o’clock. And we were in our hotel room all together, and we got back at like 11:40 so we had 20 minutes, and we just waited. And we didn’t say one word until it turned 12 o’clock.” Once it was officially September 20, the celebration began. “We just started to scream and jump up and down,” Princeton recalled. It was a crazy night, added Roc Royal — “the most exciting night of our lives.” To put together #1 Girl the R&B/pop group enlisted the talents of several top producers, including Polow Da Don, Boi-1da and JukeBox. And if the members of Mindless Behavior are excited about it, their fans are positively giddy. “We’ll never get used to it,” Ray Ray said about the throngs of teen and pre-teen girls that greet MB at every appearance. “It’s always different. First time they’re just screaming. Next time they’re biting Princeton, third time they’re pulling my hair.” Some of those fans can be seen as extras in Mindless Behavior’s latest music video, “Mrs. Right” — directed by “Tower Heist” helmer Brett Ratner. Princeton explained how their partnership with the Hollywood heavyweight came to be. “After the Kids’ Choice Awards, we went to his house. We ate dinner and hung out with him, and within the next month he was like, ‘I want to direct your next video.’ ” The boys predict more big things in their future. After they return from the Scream Tour (with Diggy Simmons, the New Boyz and others) this fall, there’s going to be “more albums, more fans and more shows,” Princeton said. Their list of dream collaborators includes Drake, Kanye West, Nikki Minaj, Rihanna and Jay-Z. And then, according to Prodigy, the Grammys will come … as well as “every award you can think of.” Related Artists Mindless Behavior
