“Nude” is different for everyone… Nubian Skin Line Launches Nude Underwear For Women Of Color Women of color will finally have underwear and hosiery that look nice and nude against their skin…as opposed to pale and ashy like common nudes can often do. Via MailOnline : When many think of the term nude, the image that often comes to mind is of something on the paler end of the spectrum, as these shades are usually labelled ‘nude’ whether it be make-up, heels or lingerie. But what some of us think of as nude only relates to a specific skin tone, obviously and one lingerie company has decided that it’s about time all women have the choice to go nude. Nubian Skin is launching a range of nude bras for women with darker skin, in several different shades to cater to all skin tones. Writing on its blog, the company’s founder says, ‘My nude isn’t the nude I see in shops. Despite the reality that women of colour have the same needs as all women when it comes to lingerie and hosiery (and spend the same of their hard-earned money), the industry simply doesn’t cater to us. ‘So, I thought, it’s time to rethink the definition of nude.’ The problem is one that the company believes also resides in the cosmetics industry. ‘It took Eunice W. Johnson to create Fashion Fair Cosmetics in 1973 for black women to really have an adequate choice in finding makeup colours to suit them. ‘In the 1990s and 2000s, mainstream brands began to realise the value of providing to women of colour, and despite the billions we spend on make up each year, there are still brands that have chosen not to provide an offering for us’ she says. My name is Vita, I’m 16 years old and a Dutch belieber. (I’m the blonde girl on Justin’s right side). It was the 10th of April when I went to the Believe tour in Belgium with one of my friends. It was an amazing show and Justin’s singing was so flawless! The next day I went to Belgium again to see Justin but with another sweet belieber! We were sitting so close from the stage. I’m sure Justin looked us in the eyes a couple of times while performing. On the way home I couldn’t stop crying. The day after it was the 12th of April. I was hanging out with my best friend when I got a call from Kimberley (@kimmybiebzz). I picked up the phone and she was screaming her head off. She said that she won a M&G for tomorrow’s show and she was going to take me with her, I just couldn’t believe it! I started to scream and cry. I ran home and couldn’t stop hugging my mom while screaming that I was gonna meet him. The next day I woke up with the thought that I was meeting Justin! It was the 13th of April. I was feeling sick because of how nervous I was. My mom and I went to the venue and when we arrived, I ran to Kimberley and hugged her while crying and thanking her. Carson has since said he apologizes for having offended anyone and indicated he might withdraw from the commencement role, though he says his words are being misconstrued. Carson, who rocketed to political fame after criticizing President Obama’s policies during the National Prayer Breakfast,made the gay marriage comments on Fox News Tuesday night. Host Sean Hannity asked Carson his opinion on same-sex marriage, given the Supreme Court’s consideration of two gay marriage cases this week. “Marriage is between a man and a woman,” Carson said. “It’s a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in [human-animal sex]– it doesn’t matter what they are, they don’t get to change the definition.” Students accused Carson of effectively comparing “gay relationships with [pedo-files] and [human-animal sex].”
A couple of the loudest voices in the Republican party have spoken out this week on the issue of gay marriage. First, Bill O’Reilly came out and sounded very much like a marriage equality advocate, saying all legal arguments were on the side of homosexuals in this debate. Now, Rush Limbaugh has sounded a very different tone, admitting that gay marriage is “inevitable,” but blaming Democrats for how they have messed with the important language of the topic. “I don’t care what the Supreme Court does, this is now inevitable,” Limbaugh said of the the Prop 8 deliberation . “And it’s inevitable because we lost the language on this.” You may need to expound on that one, Rush. “I maintain to you that we lost the issue when we started allowing the word ‘marriage’ to be bastardized and redefined by simply adding words to it,” the radio host said. “Because marriage is one thing, and it was not established on the basis of discrimination. It wasn’t established on the basis of denying people anything. Marriage is not a tradition that a bunch of people concocted to be mean to other people with. But we allowed the left to have people believe that it was structured that way.” Limbaugh is fine giving same-sex couples the “rights of contract or inheritance or hospital visits.” But he’s focused on the definition of marriage , seemingly trying to walk a line between softening his stance on gays and maintaining what he believes to be a moral high ground, concluding: “Instead of maintaining that and holding fast to that [definition], we allowed the argument to be made that the definition needed to change, on the basis that we’re dealing with something discriminatory, bigoted, and all of these mystical things that it’s not and never has been.” If you think he’s worked up now, don’t get Limbaugh started on Beyonce!
