‘Avengers’ Team Is ‘The Definition Of Family’

‘Everybody is just an arm of the octopus,’ Robert Downey Jr., tells Entertainment Weekly. By Kara Warner Avengers on the cover of Entertainment Weekly Photo: Entertainment Weekly For the most dedicated “Avengers” fans who’ve been paying attention to every story printed, photo leaked or fan video uploaded to YouTube, it’s safe to say that nearly everything we know about the Joss Whedon-helmed superhero epic is pretty awesome. Entertainment Weekly has assembled the star-studded cast on the cover of this week’s issue, along with an accompanying cover story that offers yet another excitement-inducing glimpse into the makings of what could be next year’s biggest movie. Whedon told the mag that he fully understands the amount of pressure he’s under to deliver but that he has to allow himself room for error. “Every day I make some boneheaded mistake and I go, ‘Really? Wow. So no learning curve, huh?’ There is a weird element of: They handed me one of the biggest movies of all time, and I’m making it up as I go.” As far as the A-listers in the cast go, there have been learning curves on their end as well, like Mark Ruffalo feeling anxious about taking over the Hulk from predecessor Edward Norton. “Norton and I are friends, and he was like, ‘You’ve gotta do it, buddy.’ He basically bequeathed it to me,” Ruffalo said. “It was very cool and very generous of him.” Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that he had to come to terms with the “sharing is caring” aspect of the ensemble film, versus pushing for his Tony Stark to be the centerpiece like in his “Iron Man” movies. “I said [to Whedon], ‘I don’t know what you’re thinking, but Tony needs to drive this thing.’ He was like, ‘OK, let’s try that.’ We tried it, and it didn’t work,” Downey said. “Because this is a different sort of thing. Everybody is just an arm of the octopus.” That “octopus” — i.e. the ensemble cast that consists of Ruffalo’s Incredible Hulk, Downey’s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow — has become one big happy family, according to all parties involved. “Joss describes it as the definition of family,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said. “These are people who have no business being together, but they are thrust together and need to make the best of it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Avengers.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .

Mila Kunis Thinks ‘Friends With Benefits’ Relationships Can Work

Co-stars Bryan Greenberg, Patricia Clarkson aren’t so sure. By Amy Wilkinson Mila Kunis Photo: MTV News In spite of the rather raunchy, nearly naked ad campaign for “Friends With Benefits,” the movie’s all-star cast, including Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, turned up fully clothed at the romantic comedy’s world premiere Monday night at New York City’s Ziegfeld Theatre. But on a hot, sweltering night devoted to celebrating no-strings-attached relationships, the topic of sex came up early and often. So, of course, we had to ask the film’s stars if they thought a friends-with-benefits relationship like the one depicted in writer/director Will Gluck’s July 22 release could really work long-term. “Not in my life because I’ve tried it and failed miserably,” laughed Bryan Greenberg, who plays one of Kunis’ suitors. For the most part, Greenberg’s co-stars were of the same opinion. Jenna Elfman, who plays Timberlake’s sister, said, “I’ve been with my husband for 20 years, so I haven’t first-hand attempted a friends-with-benefits lifestyle.” But she still had her reservations: “I really, frankly, don’t think it’s workable.” “For some people, yes; for me, not so much,” Patricia Clarkson agreed. Even Gluck, the film’s writer/director, admitted he thinks it’s an impossible undertaking. “I think the scenario works very briefly and in college — everyone else is kidding themselves.” The sole dissenter was Kunis, who said it all depends on your definition of “works.” “Sure! I mean, you get upgraded or downgraded; it switches and takes different positions. You get promoted, or you get fired.” Do you think a friends-with-benefits relationship can work? Will you see the flick? Tell us in the comments! Jennifer Aniston Couldn’t Say No To ‘Horrible Bosses’

‘This stuff never comes my way,’ she tells MTV News of foul-mouthed dentist. By Kara Warner, with additional reporting by Eric Ditzian Jennifer Aniston Photo: MTV News In looking at the cast of “Horrible Bosses,” it makes sense that funnymen like Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jason Bateman would be attached to a film that revolves around three guys trying to kill their three very horrible bosses. Even supporting players Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx are folks who don’t surprise us in taking on the raunchier territory that comes with an R rating. One castmember’s name that did raise an eyebrow, however, is Jennifer Aniston, known throughout celeb-dom to be one of America’s favorite TV and cinema sweethearts. In “Horrible Bosses,” Aniston is anything but sweet. She plays Julia, a somewhat demented dentist who takes the definition of sexual harassment to whole new levels in her torture of employee Dale (played by Charlie Day). When MTV News caught up with the unexpected scene-stealer recently, we asked her how she decided to take on the foul-mouthed, sexually explicit role. “It wasn’t a ‘might.’ There was never the word ‘might’ [involved in deciding to take the part],” Aniston said. “It was pretty much, ‘How fast can I say yes? I will play this part.’ “I’d never seen anything like this woman, and I couldn’t imagine not doing it,” Aniston explained, adding that she was happy to be approached for a role that is so different from those she is normally offered. “This stuff never comes my way,” she said. Director Seth Gordon said he had Aniston in mind for the role from the get-go, largely because he knew of her comedic chops and wanted to see her play something unlike her iconic “Friends” character, Rachel Green. “I imagined her in that role the first time I read the script, and I can’t explain why, but I just did,” he said. “Obviously, I knew she was a great comedian, and I feel like I’ve always seen that she can do more than she’s offered to do. A lot of stuff seems like a rehashing of Rachel in some way.” When pressed to pick a favorite Aniston moment in the film, Gordon admitted that her first scene takes the cake because it’s the first time you hear her get really raunchy. Without getting too explicit, in the scene, Aniston describes pleasuring herself to “Gossip Girl” star Penn Badgley. “Everyone’s jaws hit the floor,” he recalled. “You can imagine what it is like for her to say that, but when you first hear it, you are stunned. We just cackled. I definitely screwed up some takes when she was on set, because I would just burst out laughing and I couldn’t help it. She’s so funny.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Horrible Bosses.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Are You Enabling Your Loved Ones Bad Financial Decisions?

Read the original:

An enabler is one that enables another to achieve an end; especially: one who enables another to persist in self-destructive behavior (as substance abuse) by providing excuses or by making it possible to avoid the consequences of such behavior. Before you move on to your next post feeling some peculiar air of superiority, please note that while the definition cites substance abuse as a self-destructive behavior, it doesn’t disqualify the many of you (yes, YOU!) that enable friends and family members financially, as well! It’s one thing to assist someone who may find themselves in a bind from time to time, but it’s another to allow people to become another line item on your own struggling budget. Not only is helping them, actually hurting them, but it may be hurting you, as well. Singer & actor turned author, Tyrese, put it best while on tour to promote his new book, How To Get Out of Your Own Way. His words echo in my mind still daily: “Sometimes to help someone, you have to stop helping them.” So simple, yet so remarkably powerful. And yet, I know how it goes. We feel obligated to help family and friends who are in a financial bind. After all, isn’t it the noble thing to do? It might be if it weren’t for the fact that nobility can often create an inability in a person to figure “it” out on their own. Financially speaking, “it” can be a number of circumstances from how to earn their own income and manage their own money wisely to how to decipher between their own wants and needs, pay their own bills on time and essentially how to hustle So, how can you tell if you are enabling someone in your life? Damaged goods, addict, Demi Lovato posted some self shot bikini pics on Twitter…. I’m always so slow to get these pictures out cuz these celebrity bitches all blocked me on TWITTER … ANd makes me realize that I should have played nice, sucked up to them, wrote them sweet messages of encouragement, because hollywood pussy is insecure and hates being mocked….That’s why bitches like Demi Lovato end up in Rehab. They are weak…. That’s why I shoulda been fake nice to them….It would have make the whole thing way funnier, you know, being nice to them on there, while ripping them apart here….irony…if I knew what the definition of Irony was… That said, Demi Lovato is out of rehab, and has turned to eating, and posting pics of her in a bikini on twitter…No longer underage, no longer tight bodied…but maybe the leftover fans and perverts like me who like damaged goods will enjoy this…cuz when I see a wreck…I wanna ride it into the ground with my dick…especially when they are all hollywood…. On a side note, Self shot bikini pics are the proper kind of slutty.

Lil B Says I’m Gay LP Title Provoking Death Threats, Slurs

‘One-hundred years later, people gonna thank me, because people are going to be free,’ the Based God tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Lil B Photo: Isaac Brekken/ Getty Images In his steady rise to rap notoriety, Lil B has relied heavily on his viral fanbase. His multiple MySpace pages, Facebook “likes” and army of Twitter followers have helped propel his music and message. But ever since Lil B announced at Coachella last week that the title of his next album will be I’m Gay, some fans have turned on the Based God. A few have even sent digital death threats. “People been hitting me up like, ‘I’m gonna bash your head in,’ ‘you f—-t,’ ‘I’m gonna kill you,’ ” Lil B told MTV News on Thursday (April 21), as he drove to a show at the Mezzanine in San Francisco. With upcoming shows lined up in Chicago, Detroit and at the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey in the next few weeks, Lil B showed no signs of fear and said he’d proceed with his scheduled dates. “I’m not gonna stop and I’m not scared of anybody on earth,” he said of the Twitter backlash. “That’s why I [titled the album I’m Gay ] and nobody gonna stop me.” B insisted he’s not a homosexual, but that he is gay, i.e., extremely happy, flipping the word and focusing on its other definition. “I’m very gay, but I love women. I’m not attracted to men in any way. I’ve never been attracted to a man in my life. But yes I am gay, I’m so happy,” he said. “I’m a gay, heterosexual male.” A spokesman for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) told XXLMag.com that they hope Lil B’s album title is “not a gimmick, and is really a sincere attempt to be an ally.” B stressed to MTV News that he is in fact a supporter. “I got major love for the gay and lesbian community, and I just want to push less separation and that’s why I’m doing it,” the Based God said. “I hope GLAAD sees that I’m taking initial steps to break barriers.” When we asked about the makeup of his fanbase, B said hadn’t noticed whether there was any significant portion of his following that identifies as gay, but that some have already had a negative reaction to his title selection. “A lot of my supporters have turned on me. It’s been a few supporters that’s saying, ‘I’m not gonna rock with you anymore,’ ” the controversial MC revealed. “That’s fine, because you know what? They didn’t love me for real anyway.” Although the rapper has yet to begin recording the album, he expects to have it ready and available on iTunes in the next month or two. Lil B also believes that even though he’s facing resistance now, in the future he’ll be hailed as a hero. “One-hundred years later, people gonna thank me, because people are going to be free. And that’s the main thing. Even if it’s 1 percent of the people that listen to me and are gonna be free, that’s better than none,” he said. “That’s better than not speaking up at all … and I spoke up and I did it.” What do you think of Lil B’s decision to call his album I’m Gay ?
