Kim Kardashian, in a white body-hugging dress, kicked off the night’s festivities by noting that it was her first time ever at MSG, then bringing Taio Cruz to the stage. He played “Break Your Heart” and “Dynamite,” and for his track “Higher,” he was joined by Travie McCoy, though the song usually features British pop princess Kylie Minogue. Jesse McCartney was on hand to proudly invite Bruno Mars to the stage. The Grammy nominee played drums for an excited crowd. He played “Billionaire,” and the entire room sang along as McCoy joined him for their ode to getting famous. The crowd ate it up. He then slowed it down with “Grenade.” The set ended with “Just the Way You Are” to the delight of the crowd. Jay Sean beat-boxed, then helped introduce Paramore to the stage. The band brought some loud, boombastic rock to the show thanks to a set that included “Brick by Boring Brick.” “Anybody else care to join the party tonight?” frontwoman Hayley Williams asked the crowd before blaring out “Misery” and inviting a fan onstage to sing with her. They finished it off with “The Only Exception.” B.o.B was next to the stage. The rapper got real with his track “Don’t Let Me Fall.” Then the crowd went insane for “Magic.” As if that didn’t get the girls hyped enough, Bruno Mars returned for “Beautiful Girls.” “Everybody put your hands up,” B.o.B told the crowd before playing his massive “Airplanes” with Williams by his side. The crowd went nuts when Flo Rida introduced Selena Gomez for her dance-tastic performance of “Round and Round.” Gomez looked like a true disco queen in her little black dress and heels. She thanked Katy Perry for her next track, “Rock God,” then got trancey for her song “A Year Without Rain,” and ended her set with “Naturally,” crediting it as the reason she got a spot on the radio tour. The show took an adult contemporary and old school turn when Michael Buble arrived to croon tunes such as “Hollywood” and “Haven’t Met You Yet,” and for “Let it Snow,” he got in the crowd and paid homage to the season, dusting MSG with snow confetti. Katy Perry brought the girl power in her performance, which featured ballerinas, Christmas trees, Santa Clauses and Perry popping out of a gift box in a latex toy soldier costume for “Hot n Cold.” “This is Madison Square Garden!” she shouted to the crowd. “This is something I’ve dreamt about for a long time.” “This next song is about falling in love with a foreigner, like far away … Not even in England,” she said to introduce “E.T.” After a jazzy version of “I Kissed a Girl,” she proudly proclaimed, “Let’s dedicate this West Coast anthem to the East Coast right now,” ending her performance with “California Gurls” as red and green confetti fell from the ceiling. Pauly D prompted the loudest screams of the night when he introduced Enrique Iglesias. The Latin pop star played the clean version of “Tonight,” followed by older jams such as “Escape” and “Hero,” serenading a girl from the audience. With the swooning complete, Iglesias ended with fan favorite “I Like It.” Kardashian returned, telling the crowd, “I think I’m catching a fever,” before the night’s most-anticipated performance: Justin Bieber. In a plaid top and khakis, the teen star got his party started with “Somebody to Love.” Bieber was in full swagga mode, dancing like a seasoned pro and getting the crowd hyped. “The last time I was here for Jingle Ball, I had a broken foot, and this year, I’m here and both my limbs are working,” he joked. “We shot a movie here, and it’s coming out in February, and I think we should show you a preview.” The trailer transitioned to “Never Say Never.” Bieber even brought out a surprise guest, Jayden Smith, to join him. “I had someone who’s really special to me, and I decided to bring him out,” he then announced, calling for Sean Kingston for “Eenie Meenie.” The girls went crazy as the pals went back and forth on the cut. “I think I want to slow it down a little bit. My acoustic album had an extra song on it that’s really important to me. But first, I need everyone to close their eyes and ‘Pray,’ ” he said before the inspirational ballad. He then teased the excited crowd, saying, “I think we should do one more song,” and listing some of his track names. He settled on “Baby.” “Who wants to be my baby?” he asked. He ended the night with showers of fireworks and confetti, saying, “You guys are amazing.” Did you go to Jingle Ball 2010? Give us your review in the comments below! ‘Jersey Shore’ Exclusive VMA Clip: Snooki And Angelina Throw Down

A fight over a guy escalates in this heated preview. By Kelley L. Carter Snooki in episode ten of “Jersey Shore” season two Photo: MTV Could this be the end of Angelina? According to the much-anticipated exclusive “Jersey Shore” preview clip that premiered during the Video Music Awards pre-show Sunday (September 12), the fists go flying in the second half of season two. The drama seems to bubble over the surface after a guy Snooki brought home — whose name is apparently Alex, and we assume he’s there for her to hook up with — seems to gravitate to or get hit on by Angelina. “Go away,” Snooki says to the guy, to the delight of her roommates. “Go over there with Angelina. Stay over there. You’re not allowed over here.” In the confessional, Snooki brings up how Angelina connected with another former hookup of hers, their roommate Vinny. “I think Angelina loves my sloppy seconds. She goes to Vinny, and she’s trying to go to what’s-his-name,” she says. “Like, what are you doing? If you want to make out with me, just ask. I will say yes.” Back in the living room, the two go at it, hurling insults and profanities at each other. “You just brought home Alex. Did you hook up with him tonight? Probably. Do I care? No,” Angelina tells Snooki, with the rest of the cast and a few extra guests looking on. “Doesn’t matter to me.” Then Angelina tells Snooki, “I don’t want your sloppy seconds.” “Obviously you do,” Snooki snaps back at her. “This is why nobody likes you.” And then, Angelina goes off. On all the roommates. “I don’t give a f— about anybody in this house. All of yous in this house are f—ing fake. And I want you all to know that I can’t stand any of yous. Fake mother—-ers, all of you.” Snooki’s reply? “OK,” she says as she prepares to attack. “Hold my earrings, please.” Watch “Jersey Shore” Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Paul McCartney Joins Ringo Starr At Radio City Birthday Concert

Duo fittingly sang the Beatles’ ‘Birthday,’ following an all-star rendition of ‘With a Little Help From My Friends.’ By James Montgomery Ringo Starr performs while celebrating his 70th birthday Wednesday Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images In honor of his 70th birthday, Ringo Starr threw himself a party on Wednesday at New York City’s iconic Radio City Music Hall … with a little help from all his famous friends. It was, more correctly, a concert, one that saw Starr (backed by the latest incarnation of his All Starr Band) tear through more than two hours of Beatles tunes, covers, and even a solo hit or two, and, at the very end of the night, nearly bring the house down when he was joined onstage by his fellow former Beatle, Paul McCartney . Somewhat fittingly, the two remaining members of the Fab Four took on the White Album cut “Birthday,” with McCartney singing lead and Starr on drums (just like the good old days), as the sold-out Radio City crowd justifiably went nuts. And at the song’s conclusion, with the late John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono looking on from the side of the stage, McCartney and Starr embraced and walked off the stage to a standing ovation. It was the first time the duo shared the stage since another Radio City gig, a benefit show headlined by McCartney in 2009 . The Macca/Starr duet occurred just moments after an entire army of Starr’s famous friends — including Ono, Joe Walsh, Steve Van Zandt, Angus Young and Max Weinberg — joined him for another rather appropriate song, “With a Little Help From My Friends.” It was, in theory, the de facto finale, until McCartney sprinted onstage, much to the delight of everyone in the house. What can we say? When Ringo Starr throws a party, he really throws a party. Related Artists Ringo Starr Paul McCartney The Beatles

Lady Gaga’s ‘You And I’: The ‘Little Monsters’ Rate Her New Song

‘It sounds like old-school Gaga,’ one fan says outside Monster Ball Tour kickoff in Montreal. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Gabriel Bouys/ Getty Images MONTREAL — Last week, Lady Gaga debuted a brand-new song (“You and I”) during her performance at Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball . Of course, soon after, footage of the tune hit YouTube, where it quickly became a certified sensation. In fact, the response was so great, that on Monday, at the kickoff of the North American leg of the Monster Ball Tour in Montreal , Gaga decided — rather spur-of-the-moment-ly — to play the song again, much to the delight of the thousands of “little monsters” in attendance. And after the show — in between quizzing them about whether Gaga is Team Edward or Team Jacob — we decided to ask those monsters to review “You and I” for us. Not surprisingly, most of them seemed to love it. “It was so emotional. It brought a tear to my eye,” Larissa Saplywyj said. “You could feel her emotion too … how much it meant to her [to play it].” “She played the new song, [and] it was amazing. I didn’t even know it, and I am a huge Gaga fan,” Catherine Dupressoir added. “I’m going to go find it on YouTube when I get home.” Of course, it should be noted that not all of Gaga’s fans were as quick to embrace the new song. To some, it was too much of a departure from her electro-pop roots (of course, others were too busy getting engaged to even notice it at all). “I don’t hate it, but I’m expecting even more for the next album,” Nicholas Vansorto said. “I’d like to hear more electronic music, not just songs that are like that.” “Well, it’s a total different vibe. It’s very rock star, Elton John,” Danik Renaud said. “[But] any style suits her. … It was very special, indeed, for her to share something so great with us. I’m very honored to be a part of the premiere. … It was great being in there with all the people [to hear it].” Overall, most of the fans in Montreal gave the arena debut of “You and I” a resounding thumbs-up, especially since it harkens back to her early days as a performer in New York’s Lower East Side. “It sounds like old-school Gaga,” Liana Carbone said. “It sounds like pre- Fame Gaga, the real Gaga. The New York Gaga.” What do you think of “You and I”? Share your thoughts in the comments! Related Artists Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga Goes The Distance At Montreal Monster Ball Tour Kickoff

Epic shows runs more than two hours and includes Gaga’s brand-new track ‘You and I.’ By James Montgomery Lady Gaga performs in concert (file) Photo: Ollie Millington/ Redferns MONTREAL — “I’m going to give you the best show of your life tonight. You’re not going to be able to walk in the morning.” That’s what Lady Gaga said Monday night (June 28), right around what could’ve conservatively been called “the midway point” of her marathon set, and she wasn’t kidding. Because by the time she finally wrapped the two-plus hour show at the Bell Centre — a show that was also the kickoff of the North American leg of her revamped (and seemingly unending) Monster Ball Tour — there wasn’t a calf muscle left unquivered. If it wasn’t the best show her “little monsters” had ever seen, it certainly was the longest. An over-the-top (even by her rather lofty standards) m

Stephanopoulos Enchanted By Obama’s ‘Marshal Language’ and ‘Feel of FDR’

President Barack Obama’s Oval Office address about the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico certainly impressed George Stephanopoulos, though that’s not a difficult achievement for the favorably pre-disposed Democratic operative turned network political expert. ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC were all back to regular programming two minutes or less after Obama finished, but that was enough time for Stephanopoulos to display his delight. “What struck me tonight,” he informed ABC anchor Diane Sawyer, is: Oval Office addresses are often used when the nation is at war and tonight the President used marshal language. He talked about a “siege,” the “assault on our shores” and his “battle plan” to fix it. And he said we have to “rally together.” The co-host of ABC’s Good Morning America proceeded to relay, presuming the inspirational goal was met, that the White House was “reaching for” the “feel of Franklin Roosevelt during World War II and those fireside chats and the President even said that during World War II they said we couldn’t build enough planes and tanks, but we did. We can beat this as well.” To which, Sawyer chimed in by quoting liberal hero FDR: “Only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” From immediately following Obama’s 8 PM EDT speech on Tuesday night, June 15: GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: What struck me tonight, Diane, is you know those Oval Office addresses are often used when the nation is at war and tonight the President used marshal language. He talked about a “siege,” the “assault on our shores” and his “battle plan” to fix it. And he said we have to “rally together.” And I think what the White House was reaching for tonight is the feel of Franklin Roosevelt during World War II and those fireside chats and the President even said that during World War II they said we couldn’t build enough planes and tanks, but we did. We can beat this as well. DIANE SAWYER: “Only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Roger Ebert vs. Harry Knowles on the Politics of Kick-Ass’s Hit Girl

We’ve known for quite a while that Hit Girl from Kick-Ass would be cinematically controversial, but now that the film is in release, the debate about her has gotten kicked up a notch. On one side, you have Roger Ebert, who gives the film one star and questions the delight taken in Hit Girl’s R-rated behavior (which involves ultraviolence and a terribly dirty mouth). One the other side, you have Harry Knowles saying, “Naw, old man!” and then ding-dong-ditching Ebert. Let’s examine their arguments, shall we?
