Illinois Legalizes Medical Kush For Patients Via HuffingtonPost Illinois on Thursday officially became the 20th U.S. state to legalize medical mary jane. At a ceremony at the University of Chicago, Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn signed the bill while joined by Jim Champion, a military veteran who suffers from multiple sclerosis, the Chicago Tribune reports. “I feel that this is something, whatever faith we practice, we all believe that helping those who are sick, helping them recover and also helping them deal with pain, that’s a tenet in every faith and every religion,” the governor said a the Thursday ceremony, as reported by NBC Chicago. The law — instituting a four-year pilot medical mary jane program — will go into effect on Jan. 1. It allows individuals with serious diseases including cancer, HIV and multiple sclerosis to get a special ID card allowing them to buy limited amounts — up to two-and-a-half ounces — of medical mary jane from one of 60 state-licensed dispensaries. Medical mary jane users must have established relationships with a doctor who will OK their usage of the drug. Furthermore… Illinois’ rules are among some of the strictest in the nation, according to Karen O’Keefe, director of state policies at the Mary jane Policy Project. The Washington-D.C. based legalization advocacy group tracks state laws and helps some craft bills. For one, Illinois won’t allow home growing operations like more than a dozen other states do. The growing centers will have to be under 24-hour video surveillance, which is uncommon compared to other states. O’Keefe said most states also have more general guidelines on who can obtain medical mary jane. Legalizing medical mary jane faced some opposition in Illinois, mainly from opponents who feared it would encourage drug use and authorities who feared it would complicate driving-under-the-influence tests. Some anti-crime groups also objected to the 2.5-ounce amount, which they said was too much. Bill sponsor Rep. Lou Lang, dismissed the concerns, saying it would be difficult to obtain the drug for anyone who didn’t need it. “This was for the patients,” Lang said Thursday. “This was for the state of health care … in Illinois.” He has also said that the 2.5-ounce amount is to accommodate patients who ingest, not smoke, it, such as baked goods. So if you’re “sick”, Illinois is the place for you to find relief.

The rep says the teenager in question “is cooperating and it seems this was just a bad lapse in judgment.” Police say the gun in the picture is a BB gun, not an actual handgun. The rep adds, “For now this is still an open investigation, and for the time being no charges are being filed.” As for the teenager — we spoke to the kid, and he has profusely apologized for sending the message, telling us, “I’d like to apologize to America for the photo and to put J. Cole in that position. It was all a joke.” He added, “It was an unloaded BB gun and my sister was in on it. I only tweeted it because I didn’t expect a response. Mr. Cole please don’t sue me. I want to formally apologize more to J. Cole and yeah my mom made me delete my twitter until I fixed it.” J. Rodney Davis in a 2014 congressional primary election. ‘Rodney Davis will win’ the primary against Erika Harold, Allen wrote, ‘and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in S**tcago by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires.’ ‘The little queen touts her abstinence and she won the crown because she got bullied in school,,,boohoo..kids are cruel, life sucks and you move on,’ Allen continued. ‘Now, miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS…These pimps want something they can’t get,,, the seat held by a conservative REPUBLICAN Rodney Davis and Nancy Pelosi can’t stand it.’ ‘RINO’ is a derisive term that stands for ‘Republican In Name Only’ – a jab that refers to members of the GOP who are centrist on some issues or lean libertarian on others. “What will they think of next?” Rich Thompson: Government Assistance Programs Keep Minorities From Voting Republican In yet another desperate attempt to blame anyone but themselves for the lack of support from minorities , a GOP advocate from Georgia recently proclaimed that the African-American and Latino population’s “dependency” on government assistance programs is indirectly responsible for more minorities not voting Republican. via Think Progress Minority voters are too dependent on the government to understand what’s good for them, and that’s why they don’t vote for Republicans, according to a panelist at the influential Faith And Freedom Coalition Conference’s minority outreach discussion. On Friday, Rich Thompson, the founder of a Georgia-based 100 Dads — an organization that advocates for “school choice” — spoke on a panel entitled “The True Rainbow Coalition: Building an Organization in Minority Faith Communities.” There, Thompson suggested that the reason Republicans couldn’t make inroads with voters of color “are being paid by the government” with benefits. He argued that the best thing for Republican minority outreach would be understanding this dynamic, and thus figuring out how to cut federal benefit programs and make minority voters more pliable to free-market views: I learned from a pastor probably over a decade ago who said there’s only three things on this Earth that defy logic: Who’s friends with who, who’s related to who and who’s paying who. So before we leave today I would like each of you to contemplate these things when it comes to reaching out to diverse minority communities. If we speak to the latter, who’s paying who, right now an extremely disproportionate number of people of color are being paid by the government. Therein lies a serious problem. We can’t just cut everybody off instantaneously. But we have to have a serious conversation about how we get people to being producers and not receivers.” So, let’s get this straight. In a nutshell, minority citizens are so thirsty for government assistance that they just can’t turn away from the lure of the Democratic party who makes it all possible…and that’s the reason for the lack of minority Republican voters.
