Best Man Arrested For Killing Wife According To Examiner In a fateful turn of events, a best man at a couple’s 2009 wedding has been arrested for stabbing his former friend and his friend’s wife, who has since died of her injuries. The trending searched phrase of ‘Best man fatally stabs bride’ is a story of one-time friends turned enemies. Yahoo! News reported April 24 that 31-year-old Jonathan Broyhill attacked 27-year-old Nation Hahn and his wife, 29-year-old Jamie Kirk Hahn, at their Raleigh home Monday night. Jamie was a North Carolina political strategist who worked for high-profile Democratic candidates. Broyhill reportedly worked with Jamie Hahn at the Democratic firm Sky Blue Strategies, which she founded. A spokesman for WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, where the couple were taken Monday night, said Wednesday morning that Hahn had died from her injuries. On Wednesday morning, Jamie’s husband, Nation Hahn, mourned his wife’s death on Twitter: “She was my center, my rock and my soulmate.” Nation Hahn was released after being treated for his injuries. Broyhill was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Broyhill was also being treated for his injuries, after allegedly turning the knife on himself. A murder charge has now been added after Jamie Hahn succumbed to her injuries. Although Raleigh police continue to investigate the motive for the attack, sources say that the murder was over missing money from a former Congressman’s political campaign. Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Miller, who decided not to seek re-election in 2012, said he hired Sky Blue for fundraising help around 2010. Jonathan Broyhill was the main person with access to fundraising software, Miller said. “Some of the things that Jonathan said about the campaign finances were inconsistent with other information,” Miller said Wednesday. “It’s probably the case that Jamie was asking questions on behalf of the campaign about campaign finances. I think it’s bound to be part of the investigation of Jon’s motive.” In October, the Federal Elections Commission sent Miller campaign treasurer John Wallace a letter requesting more information about documents that appeared to show donors receiving refunds from the campaign in excess of what they paid. Those five donors gave a combined $8,250 in the 2012 quarterly report cited by the FEC, but the document shows the five receiving a combined $15,900 in refunds. It’s not clear whether the donors actually received refunds. So he stabbed the bride and he was funny with the money. Can’t trust anybody these days. Examiner

Hillary Clinton fans looking to the stage of NYC’s Lincoln Center for signs of a 2016 presidential bid should probably lower their expectations … not that they will. Her speech at the Women in the World Summit was her second speaking appearance this week, reviving rumors that she will again seek the White House. In 2016. That’s Hillary Clinton for you, strong enough to cast a shadow over an election almost four years away, even as she denies any plans to run in it. “I get all the enthusiasm there is for her to run,” Mo Elleithee, a spokesman for Clinton’s 2008 bid, said. “But my advice to everyone is to calm down.” “If she decides to look at the race, I think she’ll do so at the appropriate time.” Clinton has said she has no plans to run … and also hasn’t ruled it out. She was narrowly defeated by Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary, going on to serve as U.S. Secretary of State under President Obama. Her body language will be closely watched by the political community in the coming months, and years, for any signal that she’s approaching a decision. Supporters have already formed a Super PAC to back a possible bid. Since it was created in January, the Ready for Hillary PAC is seeing about 1,000 grassroots supporters a day sign up to back the effort to get Clinton to run in 2016. Ready for Hillary has more than 54,000 followers on Twitter and more than 100,000 e- mail addresses in its database, a clear sign of voter support. The Super PAC was ready to hold a rally today outside the Lincoln Center and carry signs in support of a potential candidacy, the group’s spokesman said. Beyonce, Jay-Z Mark Fifth Anniversary in Cuba

Beyonce and Jay-Z are in Havana, celebrating their fifth year of marriage. And causing quite a stir, as Beyonce and Jay-Z do, anniversary or not! The superstars were mobbed by dozens of fans at La Guarida, a popular restaurant, on Wednesday. Police had to be called to keep the crowds at bay. Waitress Silvia Fernandez said they dined with their moms and another man she couldn’t identify. She called Beyonce “beautiful, without a drop of makeup.” It’s true, Beyonce without makeup is a beautiful thing. So are Beyonce bikini photos , for obvious reasons. Anyway … where were we? Ah yes, Cuba. On Thursday, they toured colonial Old Havana and popped into another restaurant that boasts a rooftop terrace with a sweeping view of the harbor. It was not clear why they traveled to Cuba … or how. But congratulations on the fifth anniversary!

Kamala Harris: "Best-Looking" Attorney General in U.S., President Obama Says!

President Barack Obama raised eyebrows in the political world today, praising California’s Kamala Harris as America’s “best-looking” attorney general. Speaking at a Bay Area fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, the president said that Harris, 48, is “brilliant,” “dedicated” and “tough.” “She also happens to be, by far the best-looking attorney general.” According to reports from the fundraiser, the crowd laughed (either due to discomfort, amusement or both) after which Obama said, “It’s true! C’mon.” Some cringed at Obama’s remarks, given the historic hurdles women have faced to be recognized for accomplishments rather than physical appearances. Jonathan Chait of N.Y. Magazine called Obama “disgraceful.” “Women have a hard time being judged purely on their merits,” he wrote. “Discussing their appearance in the context of evaluating job performance makes it worse.” The Washington Post ‘s Jonathan Capehart countered that Obama and Harris are “longtime friends and allies” and he wasn’t “cat-calling a woman he doesn’t know.” “If I thought for one moment that’s what was going on, you better believe I’d hammer him for it. Democratic Senator Supports Provision Allowing Mentally Ill To Purchase Guns The gun control debate is still a hot topic across the nation , and the recent decision of a Democratic Senator Mark Pryor to speak out in support of a seemingly controversial NRA gun provision has added fuel to the fire. via Think Progress Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR) hinted on Tuesday that he would oppose a Democratic initiative to expand background checks to all gun purchases, but reiterated his support for an NRA-backed measure that would permit individuals deemed mentally ill or incompetent to purchase firearms more freely. Pryor emphasized removing records from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, rather than broadening the requirement: “I do support improving the background check. I want to make sure that when we put data in the background check that we have the right kind of mental health data. We need integrity in that data to be in there and we also need a process where people can get their names out of there when the time is right. Either they got their name wrongly in the first place or they’ve gone through some issue or whatever and that’s behind them and they need to get their name out of the database. So I support a bipartisan bill on that, in fact I think it’s endorsed by the NRA, so I’m not like totally opposed to every single thing. Senator Arrested in Bribe Scheme; Malcolm Smith Allegedly Tried to Buy Spot on NYC Ballot

A high-ranking Democratic New York State senator was arrested today for trying to buy a place on the ticket in the next New York City mayoral race. Five other politicians, three Republicans and two Democrats, were also busted and charged with collectively accepting more than $100,000 in bribes. Authorities described the scheme – one of New York’s biggest in years – as an attempt to game the city ‘s first wide-open mayoral election in a decade. New York City will choose a new mayor in November, just before Michael Bloomberg, who took office in 2001, ends his third and final term as Hizzoner. The charges center on State Senator Malcolm Smith (D-Queens) who prosecutors said made payments to a city councilman to set up meetings. In those meetings, he allegedly tried to convince top New York Republicans to assist in getting him on the mayoral ballot in this November’s election. Smith and the councilman, Daniel Halloran, a Republican from Queens, were among the six politicians arrested in connection to the bribery scandal. Charges against them include bribery, extortion, and wire and mail fraud. “From time to time the question arises, how common is corruption in New York?” said Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara at a press conference. “Based on the cases we continue to bring, it seems downright pervasive.” Authorities arrested four other politicians: Queens County Republican Party Vice Chairman Vincent Tabone (R) Bronx County Republican Party Chairman Joseph Savino (R) Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin (D) Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Joseph Desmaret (D) Smith’s lawyer, Gerald Shargel, said only that “Malcolm Smith is a dedicated public servant who has served  his constituents in an exemplary fashion.” Representatives of the other five officials all either declined to comment or did not respond to phone calls on Tuesday morning after their arrests.

Michael Vick Death Threats Cancel Book Tour

NFL star Michael Vick says he won’t be bullied by a spate of recent death threats, but he has canceled his upcoming book tour in the wake of them. The once-imprisoned QB and author of Finally Free: An Autobiography says he will continue his work with community service organizations, too. Vick nixed his book tour after “credible threats” were called in to several Barnes & Noble stores across the country, but “won’t let this control his life.” Michael’s rep says, “Regardless of the past threats, he has millions of fans around the world and has been receiving countless messages of support.” “He will continue to keep an active schedule working with charities.” Mike Vick will continue to work with the Team Freedom Outreach (recreation and visitation programs for youth detention centers) and the VFW organization. He also has several security measures in place in case more threats are made and plans on giving police a heads up before he visits the centers. “Mike is committed to helping make his community a better place,” Vick’s rep says. “[he] is determined to continue his work with charity and helping others.”

Pepsi Max and NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon have teamed up for a viral ad in which Jeff disguises himself as a regular guy looking to test drive a Camaro. The poor car salesman may never be the same. Jeff Gordon Test Drive “It’s got some power, so just get a feel for it.” The 41-year-old, unassuming 5’8″ Gordon already fits the average Joe mold, but the cheesy goatee really makes the look. As for his driving skills? Let’s just say those moves aren’t street legal. The ad is a takeoff on last year’s Kyrie Irving spot, in which the Cleveland Cavaliers guard dressed as an old man and owned guys on the playground. Both are pretty classic.

There have been presumptions that former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will make another White House run come 2016. She leads a recent 2016 presidential poll (yes, there was one), and given her resume and name recognition at this point, that’s not a real surprise. But this is: Another, even more intriguing idea floating around the web this week is that current FLOTUS Michelle Obama could be her running mate. “All due respect for President Obama and Vice President Biden, but that would truly be a dream team,” former Clinton spokeswoman Karen Finney said. “Both women are proven leaders who’ve raised children, so dealing with Congress would be a snap!” she added, having apparently never seen Congress. Democratic strategist Chris Lehane also said that “this reflects the growing awareness that it is time for the glass ceiling of the last old boys club to be firmly shattered.” “I look forward to the day when a woman can run for the presidency without so much parody and fanfare,” ex-Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile said. A recent poll from Qunnipiac University found that in a hypothetical presidential race, Hillary Clinton would likely trump any Democratic challengers. “Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would start a 2016 presidential campaign with enormous advantages,” said Qunnipiac’s Peter A. Brown. “She obviously is by far the best known and her more than 20 years in the public spotlight allows her to create a very favorable impression on the American people.” As for Michelle Obama joining the ticket? We’d put the chances of that at just above microscopic, but a future run for office could be more likely. Clinton ran for U.S. Senate in the last year of husband Bill’s presidency, serving from 2001-2009 before joining the Obama administration as its top diplomat. Most likely, if she’s interested in politics at all beyond 2016, Michelle would follow that blueprint. Until then, let the speculation continue to run rampant.
