George Clooney’s The Ides of March is an actors’ movie, a picture that gives performers some provocative things to do without necessarily providing a great story for them to hang onto. It’s also a movie made for grown-ups, and Lord knows there are few enough of those around today. But this story of an idealistic young press secretary who finds his principles eroded at the hands of a corrupt Democratic presidential candidate keeps getting in the way of its own chin-stroking: It’s carefully designed to make us think it’s making us think, but in the end, what’s it really telling us? That politics — and politicians — can be dishonest and ugly? Please don’t stop the presses for that one.

GOP presidential candidate RICK PERRY has tied himself to a controversial spiritual adviser who political sources say could wreck his Whites House run! Christian activist ALICE PATTERSON, whose grandfather The ENQUIRER learned was in the Ku Klux Klan, believes the Democratic Party is literally controlled by demonic spirits, and she’s drawn fire for blasting ex-President George W. Bush, condemning gays and declaring that widows who don’t remarry should be denied aid. Gov. Perry shared the stage with Patterson and even hugged her, when he spoke to a 30,000- strong crowd at The Response prayer event in Houston, Texas, on Aug. 6. Patterson is an “apostle” with a Christian group called the New Apostolic Reformation, and helped organize the prayer session. Now political pundits are comparing her inflammatory statements to those made by President Barack Obama’s former pastor Jeremiah Wright. “Wright almost destroyed Obama’s chances, and Patterson could do the same for Perry,” a political insider told The ENQUIRER. We’re pretty sure Perry doesn’t need this broad to ruin his chances… he’s doing that well enough on his own. SMH! Source

SMH… Republican Bob Turner, with voters dealing a rebuke to President Barack Obama in a traditionally Democratic district, won the New York City House seat that scandal forced Anthony Weiner to give up. The Associated Press reported that with 88 percent of the vote counted in yesterday’s special election, Turner had 54 percent and Democrat David Weprin had 46 percent. “I think it’s a big red flag,” Stu Rothenberg, editor of the Washington-based Rothenberg Political Report, said of the New York election results. “The ramifications go well beyond Queens and Brooklyn.” He called it “a warning sign that voters who are dissatisfied with the direction of the country may well be more likely to take it out on the president and his party than on congressional Republicans.” Rothenberg said Democrat Weprin “didn’t run a great race,” but “even a weak Democratic candidate should be able to hold it against a mediocre Republican.” Hope this isn’t a sign of what’s to come in 2012… Source

The video shows a grown-up side of the former teen star, who’s now 22. The retro-tinged, very sexy clip is set in Paris, with Joe cavorting around town with French model Angele. The two run around in their designer duds, making out in cafes, catching the metro, driving around in cars, hanging out in a bathtub and kissing in bed (a lot). “No, I’m not naked and she’s not naked,” he later told E! Online about the bathtub scene when the network premiered the video on Tuesday evening. “But I think it’s a little bit, well, I’ll just say it’s a little bit older than anything I’ve done before.” The video, directed by Jaci Judelson, is composed of shots of the pair as they make out all around one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, weaving together the tale of their brief but passionate love affair. However, all good things must come to an end and Joe leaves his French lady love behind. The video closes out with Joe looking back as he walks away in the dark of the night. “Just in Love” officially dropped last week and is the second single from Jonas’ forthcoming album, Fast Life , due October 11. That might explain why such bright lights as Lady Gaga , Bono and The Edge of U2 , and Usher have signed on to perform at an October 15 party for Clinton at the Hollywood Bowl. According to The Hollywood Reporter , details on the final list of performers and presenters are still being worked on, but an impressive list of movie and TV personalities are expected to sign on for the event, which is being billed as a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Clinton’s nonprofit William J. Clinton Foundation. To date, the foundation has raised more than $10 billion for some of the ex-president’s most cherished causes, including HIV/AIDS treatment, economic empowerment, food aid and global health initiatives. The show, which will also serve as a birthday party celebration for the former Democratic leader (who turned 65 on August 19), will be broadcast exclusively by Yahoo, which will stream “A Decade of Difference: A Concert Celebrating 10 Years of the William J. Clinton Foundation” worldwide to a potential audience of millions. Clinton continues to travel the world doing good works, though he turned his attention homeward over the weekend when he participated in the 10th anniversary ceremonies of the September 11 terror attacks. He announced on Sunday that he will team with Republican House Speaker John Boehner in a bipartisan effort to raise the final $10 million needed to complete the Fight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
