Deborah Ramirez: Second Woman Accuses Brett Kavanaugh of Sexual Misconduct

Deborah Ramirez, a former Yale classmate of Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh, has come out and accused the embattled judge of sexual misconduct. She’s the second woman in about a week to have done so. In an explosive article penned by Ronan Farrow (the reporter who exposed allegedly heinous sex-related crimes by Harvey Weinstein and Les Moonves) and investigative journalist Jane Mayer, Ramirez says Kavanaugh exposed his penis to her during a party their freshman year of college. The 53-year old admits to having been very drunk at this dorm gathering, but that Kavanaugh “caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.” She says he then laughed at the incident, which allegedly took place at some point in 1983 or 1984. Farrow and Mayer write that Ramirez was initially hesitant to come forward due to “gaps in her memory” as a result of the alcohol consumption that night. However… “After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.” This is what Ramirez says about what transpired: “I wasn’t going to touch a penis until I was married [because] I was raised a devout Catholic in Connecticut… I was embarrassed and ashamed and humiliated.” Describing her memory of Kavanaugh’s act and subequent reaction, Ramirez told the magazine: “I can still see his face, and his hips coming forward, like when you pull up your pants.” The aspiring Supreme Court Justice, who is currently scheduled to testify in from of Senators on Thursday morning in response to an attempted rape allegation by Christine Blasey Ford , has issued the following statement: This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple. I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name — and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building — against these last-minute allegations . And then there’s this from White House spokesperson Kerri Kupec: This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats designed to tear down a good man. This claim is denied by all who were said to be present and is wholly inconsistent with what many women and men who knew Judge Kavanaugh at the time in college say. The White House stands firmly behind Judge Kavanaugh . Sources say President Donald Trump has no intention on asking Kavanaugh to withdraw his name from consideration, while Senator Diane Feinstein has called for a delay of all hearings and testimonies until the FBI can investigate both allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. According to The New Yorker article, “Senior Republican staffers also learned of the allegation last week and, in conversations with The New Yorker, expressed concern about its potential impact on Kavanaugh’s nomination. “Soon after, Senate Republicans issued renewed calls to accelerate the timing of a committee vote.” A roommate of Kavanaugh’s in college tells the publication that he may not have been present at this Yale party in question — but that he is “100 percent” sure that Kavanaugh would have done something like this during his time at Yale. The judge was part of a fraternity (Delta Kappa Epsilon)back then that whose members waved a flag made of women’s underwear around campus during his time as a brother. The Yale Daily News has also noted that Kavanaugh became a member of Truth and Courage, one of Yale’s secret societies for seniors that was nicknamed “Tit and Clit.” In 2015, referring to his high school, he said in a speech that “what happens at Georgetown Prep stays at Georgetown Prep and that’s been a good thing for all of us, I think.” This may not be the case after all, however. “I would think an FBI investigation would be warranted,” Ramirez told The New Yorker of her claims. Ford has also encouraged the FBI to look into her allegations against Kavanaugh. Neither Republican Senators nor President Trump have given the agency a green light to do so, however.

These 5 Petty Republican Attacks On Black Candidates Show The GOP’s Desperation

See the original post here:

R epublicans are showing their desperation to hold on to political power by resorting to petty attacks on Black candidates, as the GOP braces for a possible Democratic avalanche in the midterm elections. See Also: From Kamala Harris To Stacey Abrams: How Black Woman Are Saving Democracy The latest example happened in Wisconsin where Mandela Barns is running for lieutenant governor. On Monday, he called it “crazy” that his GOP rival would claim without evidence that he knelt during the national anthem at a state fair over the summer, Fox 6 News reported. Incumbent Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch , who was reportedly at the fair during the ceremony, told reporters that other people told her Barnes was kneeling. Here’s how Barns responded to her allegation: Me, a candidate. Standing next to every news camera. Kneeling. And she only “heard about it.” Rebecca, for real? History of this nation should caution her from making wild allegations like this. That's a dangerous game. https://t.co/jaVBl4EasC — Mandela Barnes (@TheOtherMandela) September 17, 2018 Here are other examples: Andrew Gillum Accused Of Being Weak On Stopping Child Molesters The GOP’s nominee for Florida governor Ron DeSantis claimed during a speech on Sept. 15 that his rival Andrew Gillum would be weak on preventing child molesters from targeting kids in the state, an accusation that the Miami Herald called “absurd.” DeSantis, who previously made a racially charged attack on Gillum, tried to link his claim to Gillum’s opposition to President Trump ’s immigration policy, the newspaper said.   NewsOne talked with @AndrewGillum about his campaign, as he races toward the finish line in the #FloridaPrimary for governor…. https://t.co/e2D9Xg3KE8 @peoplefor pic.twitter.com/aKGq5PwpWf — NewsOne (@newsone) August 28, 2018 Stacey Abrams Debt Shamed The Republican Governors Association released an attack ad on Aug. 10 that tried to debt shame Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams , amplifying a line of attack from her GOP rival Brian Kemp , WABE radio reported. Abrams owes the IRS $54,000, stemming from assisting her parents, that she has made arrangements to pay. “I have never failed to file my taxes, I have never failed to pay my taxes,” she said. “I am on a payment plan to fully fund my taxes.” Meanwhile, Republicans have ignored the “ legally dubious ” loopholes Trump used to avoid paying taxes. Cory Booker Has More Receipts On Kavanaugh As Activists Try To Shut Down Confirmation

I f civil rights activists are looking for a strong chance at stopping Brett Kavanaugh ‘s confirmation, then Cory Booker may just be it.  The Democratic New Jersey Senator released more documents about the Supreme Court nominee on Wednesday night. RELATED: Brett Kavanaugh’s Dangerous Relationship With Race In America, Explained It’s clear that Booker is pulling out all the stops when it comes to bringing the controversial nominee’s record to light. He had already released confidential documents about Kavanaugh last week under the threat of a Senate Ethics Committee review and losing his Senate seat. In adding 28 more documents to the paper trail, Booker, who clearly isn’t here for Trump’s pick, is showing no signs of backing down from challenging the confirmation. We have added 28 new Kavanaugh “committee confidential” documents to the others publicly last week. All docs available here: https://t.co/n9IGe5UNgg — Cory Booker (@CoryBooker) September 12, 2018 With Booker and other Democrats’ fighting Kavanaugh replacing retired Justice Anthony Kennedy, the question is whether the Senate will consider the documents in their decision making. The documents are food for thought for the Senate Judiciary Committee, who met Thursday to discuss the matter. Senators will vote on the confirmation later this month, according to The Associated Press . The new batch of documents covers Kavanaugh’s role in judicial nominations and in the White House counsel’s office during the George W. Bush administration. The papers “raise more serious and concerning questions,” Booker said. Some documents show Kavanaugh’s connection to Bush’s nomination of Charles Pickering to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans — a 2002 move that was met with Senate opposition and questions about Pickering, a then-Mississippi federal judge, being racist. Pickering ultimately got the court seat. Kavanaugh testified before the committee that he was not “substantially involved” in Pickering’s nomination. At this point, senators have a total of 75 documents on the table about the nominee. An unapologetic Booker is on a mission in vetting Kavanaugh, who has been viewed by activists as a candidate that would undermine civil rights progress under instruction from Trump. I will continue releasing so-called ‘committee confidential’ docs because it is important that American people see Kavanaugh’s entire record. No effort to intimidate me into silence will keep me from my moral & Constitutional duty. https://t.co/Yptiy4q0W4 — Cory Booker (@CoryBooker) September 12, 2018 SEE ALSO: Omarosa Goes Ballistic On XM Radio Show, Calls Host A ‘B***h’ Amber Guyger Is Blaming Botham Jean For Getting Shot And Killed In His Own Home [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3404967″ overlay=”true”]

Here’s Another Sign That Cory Booker Is Running For President

N ew Jersey’s Democratic Sen. Cory Booker received an important invitation to visit Iowa for a political event, signalling to many that Booker is already on the 2020 presidential campaign trail. SEE ALSO: Will He Or Won’t He?: Cory Booker Talks Political Plans For 2020 Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Troy Price announced Saturday that Booker agreed to be the keynote speaker at the party’s fall gala, days after Booker was in the national spotlight at the confirmation hearing for President Trump ‘s high court nominee, Politico reported. Price declined to say whether he asked other prospective candidates to appear at the event in Iowa, the first stop in the presidential primaries. He credited the senator as “a great speaker” whom he wanted to headline the gala. “We’ve said all along that we welcome anyone who wants to help us get Democrats elected in 2018, and we’re happy to have Senator Booker’s help. This dinner is only about the great opportunities ahead of us in this election this fall,” Price told the news outlet. Booker heading to Iowa in October https://t.co/Q4jpvCjUBM — POLITICO (@politico) September 9, 2018 In 2008, Iowa Caucus Democrats gave then-Sen. Barack Obama its seal of approval . Iowans connected with Obama’s message of hope and change, and he rode that wave of enthusiasm all the way to the White House. The invitation suggests that Iowa Democrats want to get a closer look at Booker, and it presents an opportunity for the senator to test his message. This is yet another indication that Booker will probably announce his candidacy. Other signs include him downplaying his interest in running for president–which nearly every candidate in office does before announcing a run for president. During an  exclusive interview  with  IOne  family’s  WRNB’s Quincy Harris Morning Show , Booker said: “My intention is to run for reelection. I’m not going to play coy. I’d definitely consider it (a presidential run).” Booker has also used his platform in the Senate to fire up the base, as Obama did as a senator. Booker berated Department of Homeland Security Secretary  Kirstjen Nielsen   at a January hearing for her “amnesia” about hearing the president’s “shithole countries” remark toward Haiti and African nation. On Thursday, Democrats applauded Booker for risking Senate expulsion for releasing documents Republicans tried to hide, which revealed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh ’s preference for racial profiling as a law enforcement tool. Kanye West and John Legend Hang Out, Will "Agree to Disagree"

Kanye West and John Legend are not letting a small matter such as the fate of our nation get in the way of their friendship. Just days after the two exchanged in a semi-heated debate via text message, the artists not only hung out on Friday evening… … they posed for a photo together. “We got love. Agree to disagree,” wrote West last night as a caption to the above picture. It was snapped during Chrissy Teigen’s baby shower, as she and Legend are expecting their second child any week now. It’s not newsworthy that Kanye and John are friends — but it is note worthy that they are getting along well here because Legend called West out in an exchange that went public earlier in the week. As part of his Twitter barrage over the past few days, Kanye has expressed an affection for Donald Trump . He’s worn a MAGA hat. He’s questioned why Barack Obama did nothing to help Chicago. He’s received praised from the President himself on social media. In response to this viewpoint, Legend sent his friend a few text messages… which Kanye actually went ahead and Tweeted to the world. “I hope you’ll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump,” Legend wrote, as you can see above. He added: “You’re way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for. “As you know, what you say really means something to your fans … so many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause. “Don’t let this be part of your legacy.” Well said and reasoned, right? But Kanye basically blew his pal off. He did, however, later Tweet the following: “I really appreciate this dialogue with John Legend because I’m actually very empathetic. “I’m still the kid from the telethon. I feel when people think of MAGA they don’t think of empathy.” We’re not here to delve too deeply into Trump’s wayward views on what the MAGA movement stands for. Those around the rapper are reportedly concerned about his mental health and thinking of staging an intervention . However, it’s most likely that West is simply drumming up attention and publicity here in anticipation of his dual album release in June. Love him or REALLY hate him for his TrLate Friday, meanwhile, Kanye released a track titled “Ye vs. the People.” It’s a collaboration with T.I. and is an attempt by the rapper to clarify his political stance a bit.ump support, Kanye is most certainly accomplishing those aforementioned goals. “I know Obama was heaven-sent/ But ever since Trump won it proved that I could be President,” Kanye starts off the track, later adding: “Bruh, I never stopped fighting for the people… “See that’s the problem with this damn nation. All Blacks gotta be Democrats, man, we ain’t made it off the plantation.” And there are also these lyrics: I feel an obligation to show people new ideas/ And if you wanna hear ’em, here go two right here. Make America Great Again, had a negative reception I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction. Added empathy, care and love and affection/And y’all simply questionin’ my methods. Yes, many people are questioning Kanye West’s methods. Unless you work in a marketing department. In which case, you’re likely just sitting back in awe of them. 5 Things That Are Affected When The Government Shuts Down

Read more here:

Source: TIMOTHY A. CLARY / Getty Congress needed to pass a budget resolution by the end of Friday to fund the government, however, Democrats and Republicans can’t come to an agreement on the bill – more specifically on immigration measures. The conundrum is that Republicans are blaming the Democrats, because in order for Congress to pass the funding bill, they’ll need 60 votes from Dems. But dems are blaming Republicans because they control the White House and both sides of Congress. . @realDonaldTrump has been rooting for a “good shutdown” since May.
