Teen Boy Charged With Murder Of Florida Homeless Man via Florida News-Press Nearly a quarter-mile off the road, Thomas J. Bergstrom, 51, built a 20-foot-by-20-foot compound of pallets and bright blue tarps. A transient, that’s where he hooked up a TV and watched it from his scruffy recliner near 100 NE Pine Island Road. Anthony Cashdollar found him Saturday morning, stretched out on the ground, blood congealing on his arm and mouth, just feet from the recliner. “I was so shocked, I just sat my hand on his back,” Cashdollar, 18, said Sunday night, adding that he called “Tommy, Tommy, Tommy. … Then it hit me that Tommy was dead.” Sgt. Dana Coston of the Cape Coral Police Department said 13-year-old city resident Yoel Munoz was arrested at home Sunday, charged with second-degree murder and burglary in Bergstrom’s death. He was being held Sunday night and bond had not been set. His first court hearing was expected this morning. Munoz’s father, Osmin, does not speak English and, through an interpreter, declined to comment about his son or the slaying. Coston said Bergstrom was a transient and had been stabbed multiple times. The crime was discovered at 11:48 a.m. Saturday when Cape police responded to a report of a deceased person at the camp. Cashdollar said he had gone to visit Bergstrom to show him his new dirt bike. He peeked into a makeshift room, seeing a blood-soaked recliner. And then I looked around, and there Tommy was. He was dead.” Based on evidence recovered from and near the scene, Cape detectives identified Munoz as a suspect, Coston said. Burglary charges can stem from someone entering an area like the camp with an intent to commit a crime, Coston said, and added that murder investigation is ongoing. In July, Cape police had issued a missing persons report for Munoz, saying he had been reported missing June 30 between 9 and 10 p.m. and was suspected of heading to East Fort Myers. At 10:45 a.m. July 1, Cape police reported Munoz had been found “safe and sound.” At the first appearance of Munoz in Lee County juvenile court Monday morning, Munoz was given three weeks of secure detention and will be in court on Aug.21. Maryland Man Arrested After Taunting Cops On Facebook Via WUSA 9 reports: Anne Arundel County police arrested a 28-year-old Edgewater man one day after police say he taunted them on Facebook. Roger Ray Ireland, who was profiled in the department’s “#WantedWednesday” feature, posted “Y’all will never catch me…” on his Facebook page, referencing his attempts to continue to elude the police. Police say they located Ireland in South Baltimore near the Anne Arundel County line after pulling him over during a traffic stop. Woman Caught Stealing Easter Present From Child’s Grave Via NYDailyNews Police in central Ohio are asking for help in identfying a rather pudgy woman captured on a hidden video camera waddling off with a stuffed duck that had been placed on the grave of a 14-month-old. The burial plot of Hayden “Tank” Cole had been robbed before, cops said. Footage from hidden camera had been too dark to be helpful. But on Saturday, in broad daylight, the surveillance camera captured a thief brazenly shaking off the yellow toy and then walking away with it. The Ontario Police Department has posted the video on its Facebook page, along with a number for tipsters to call if they recognize the female thief. What a despicable ho… The boy’s family had left the toy duck on their dead son’s grave as an Easter present. About five hours later, the grave robber walked off with it. Police said the boy’s family had contacted officers a few years ago, when items started disappearing from grave of little Hayden, who died in 2007. A toy truck and solar-powered night lights went missing, and then cops put up the hidden camera. “The family wants the person who did this” on Saturday to be held accountable,” reads the department’s Facebook post. “Most of all, the family just wants some reassurance that they can leave a night light and a stuffed animal at their son’s grave without someone stealing it.” Forget the law, this “pudgy” heffa deserves LIFE! This is some bullish… Army Grooming Standards Ban Most Natural Hairstyles Black women enlist in the armed forces at a higher rate than any other demographic and represent a third of the U.S. armed forces but black women are not really feeling the love in return from the U.S. army, largely because of a new regulation 670-1 which hasn’t yet been made official or public, but was approved on March 6. The new rules aren’t sitting well with many enlisted black women, especially those with natural hair and there’s been a huge public outcry since slides from the Powerpoint presentation associated with the regulation leaked on March 20. Here are some details via AJA’s The Stream blog : Unauthorized hairstyles now include twists, dreadlocks, Afros and braids that are more than a quarter-inch thick – styles commonly worn by many African-American women. After the new measures take effect, soldiers who wear these hairstyles will have to remove them or cover them with wigs or extensions if they do not want to face administrative discipline. Army veteran “Tonya” [name has been changed to protect identity], who has dreadlocks, spoke to The Stream about her opposition to the new rules, which she called “deliberate.” “It’s very targeted because we all know who they’re talking about even though they never explicitly say the world ‘black’ or ‘African-American.’ We all know who typically wears these types of hairstyles and then they went as far as to include pictures of black women in the PowerPoint.” The updates to grooming regulations were approved on March 6 by Secretary of the Army John McHugh. The Stream reached out to the Army with questions regarding the new grooming guidelines, and was referred to previous statements made by Sergeant Major of the Army Raymond F. Chandler. “We’ve gone through a series of revisions and briefings to try to find something that’s reasonable, affordable and feasible within the Army that aligns itself with our professional responsibilities,” said Chandler’s statement. Some soldiers have pointed to what they say are inconsistencies in how grooming rules are applied. Earlier this year, the Department of Defense released regulations allowing turbans, headscarves and beards to be worn while in uniform to ensure protection of religious freedom for service members of diverse faiths. Definitely seems like the Army needs to reconsider this regulation and fortunately there is something we can all do about it… A Whitehouse.gov petition has been posted calling for the Obama administration to reconsider the guidelines: More than 30% of females serving in the military are of a race other than white. As of 2011, 36% of females in the U.S. stated that they are natural, or refrain from chemically processing their hair. Females with natural hair take strides to style their natural hair in a professional manner when necessary; however, changes to AR 670-1 offer little to no options for females with natural hair. In the proposed changes, unauthorized hairstyles include twists, both flat twists as well as two strand twists; as well as dreadlocks, which are defined as “any matted or locked coils or ropes of hair.” These new changes are racially biased and the lack of regard for ethnic hair is apparent. This policy needs to be reviewed prior to publishing to allow for neat and maintained natural hairstyles. The petition has already amassed nearly 5,000 signatures in just ten days. Officer La’Cori Johnson, 28, allegedly forced a woman to perform oral sex on him before having sex with her in the back of his patrol car on Sept. 9, 2013. “You don’t have to go to jail if you do what I tell you to do,” he said, according to an arrest affidavit. The unidentified woman said she obeyed the officer’s demands because he was armed and she feared going to jail, reported NBCDFW. The Dallas-Fort Worth station said the whole incident started when Johnson pulled over the woman and another person, performed background checks on both and then told the friend to leave. The officer, who had been with the department since 2009, told the woman there was a warrant out for her arrest and told her to get into the back of his car, she said. You already know what happened next… Johnson drove the woman to a dead end behind the Pecan Square Apartments and parked. Then he got into the backseat and removed his gun belt, according to NBCDFW. At this point, he allegedly made his sexual demands. “With any sexual assault, the victim is going to have lasting damage from that attack; but in this particular case, the damage extends beyond the victim, and it impacts the entire public,” attorney Kimberly Priest Johnson told ABC affiliate WFAA. The woman reported the incident to police on Oct. 4, 2013. Johnson was immediately placed on administrative leave and the department’s Public Integrity Unit launched a criminal investigation.
