Joe Jonas Drops New Single ‘Just In Love’

Singer also teases fans with two new clips of the song’s video, which premieres Monday. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: Getty Images Joe Jonas got sentimental on his first solo single, “See No More,” and now he’s getting sexy on his uptempo second single, “Just in Love.” The song hit the Internet on Friday (September 9) and offers another preview of Joe’s first-ever solo project, Fast Life , which drops October 11. “Just in Love” is a Latin-tinged dance track with a thumping beat behind a synthy sound. In the song, Joe professes his love for a girl who may not be clear about his intentions. On the chorus, he sings, “Just running from the truth/ That I’m scared of losing you/ You are worth too much to lose/ Baby, even if you’re still confused/ Girl I’m just in love with you.” The song was written by Joe Jonas and James Fauntleroy, with production by Rob Knox. In a message for his fans on Ryan Seacrest’s site , he explained why he wrote the track. “I am very excited to premiere my new single ‘Just in Love’ for you guys. This is a song I wrote when I was going through a relationship with somebody,” he explained. “She [was] arguing with me, and all I could do was say, ‘Listen, I love you, but we don’t need to go through this.’ So, this is called ‘Just in Love.’ ” In addition to relaunching his website for this next phase of his career, the video for “Just in Love” will premiere on Monday, but Joe’s already giving fans a taste of what they can expect in the sexy clip, which was directed by Jaci Judelson. In a first tease of the video , Jonas is hanging out in bed with his lady love as the pair trade pillow talk about him having to leave her in Paris, where he shot a video with a French model named Angele. He followed that tease up with a clip of the two in a car, snuggling and playing a sort of English-to-French word association game. In the newest tease , the pair is seen running down a busy street in Paris. The video is certainly a more mature one for the singer, and he’s said that that was his intention. “I think fans are going to be shocked and excited to see the video,” Jonas declared recently. The solo songs Joe has released so far have been pretty personal, and the singer said he’s looking forward to having fans to hear that. “It’s exciting, more than nervous,” he told us. “I’m really excited because it’s been a dream of mine for a while to be able to present people with this music that I’ve loved for so long and to kind of show them almost what I like to listen to, what I like to play, and just hopefully that they’ll love it.” Related Artists Joe Jonas

‘Back To The Future’ Writer Takes Us Inside Nike Air McFlys

It was important to ‘create a shoe that would absolutely, 100 percent look like the shoe from the movie,’ Bob Gale says. By Eric Ditzian Nike Air McFlys Photo: Nike The news is 88 mph of awesome: The neon-lit Nikes that Marty McFly rocked in “Back to the Future Part II” are no longer part of a fictional 2015 but will soon be available for anyone willing to plunk down a hefty chunk of change. After a daylong buildup of viral videos and a Los Angeles announcement event lighting up the Web like a lightning-struck clock tower, Michael J. Fox himself appeared on “Late Show With David Letterman” on Thursday to show off the limited-edition Air McFlys (formally known as the Nike Air Mag). The proceeds from the 1,500 pairs of shoes, which will be auctioned off on eBay, will go to the actor’s Parkinson’s disease research foundation. “It’s kind of cool because it brings together three populations of people with major joneses,” Fox told Letterman. “The sneaker-heads who love sneakers, the ‘Back to the Future’ guys who, believe me, are out of their minds, in a good way, thank God for them. And people in the Parkinson’s community.” Shortly before Fox’s TV appearance and after a day of hanging out with Universal and Nike execs for the rollout, “Back to the Future” writer Bob Gale called up MTV News to talk about the development. Gale has geeked out with us before about “BTTF” memorabilia, including the Mr. Fusion he turned into a desk lamp , so we figured he’d be the perfect guy to lend insight into the new shoe’s development and how it connects back to their first appearance in 1989. He did just that, as well as assuage our concerns that the Air Mags don’t come with auto laces as Marty’s did in the film. Be patient, Gale counseled us … all in good time. MTV : How did this whole thing come together? Bob Gale : Nike has been thinking about this for quite some time. They came out with those other shoes a couple years ago that were sort of like these, and at that time, [producers] Bob Zemeckis, Frank Marshall and I were approached by Nike saying what they wanted to do was see if they could develop the actual shoe from “Back to the Future Part II.” They expected to do various versions building up to 2015. They would make sure it was all to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation. They had me at hello. When we made the movie back in 1989, we had the shoe designed by Nike. Tinker [Hatfield], the designer over there, went back into his old notebooks saying, “What did I do back then? What did I draw?” MTV : So Nike went back to the original concept art for inspiration? Gale : Well, they basically used the movies. There are drawings, which they unveiled during the Universal event. Some of those drawings are Tinker’s original drawings. The one thing they wanted to make sure they got absolutely right was to create a shoe that would absolutely, 100 percent look like the shoe from the movie. Of course, back in 1989, there was no technology to make them light up or be power laced. There are behind-the-scenes pictures showing Michael J. Fox with all these wires coming out of his jacket and shoes to make those effects works. We had a guy off camera who pulled wires and tightened the shoes. Nike figured they better figure out how to do that for real rather than have some guy follow you around all day when you want to lace ’em. MTV : What was the announcement event like today? What was going through your head as you watched everyone go nuts for these sneakers? Gale : What’s cool about these movies is they inspire people in different ways. John Mayer said he saw the “Johnny B. Goode” scene, and that made him want to be a rock star. I meet so many screenwriters who say, “The movie that made me want to be a screenwriter was ‘Back to the Future.’ ” There are people out there trying to figure out how to make a working hoverboard. The fact that art inspires people is the greatest compliment you can have. This crazy idea about sneakers that light up and lace themselves is one step closer to being a reality. MTV : Why now? Why not five years ago or 2015? Gale : Nike wanted to do this in tiers. This is the beginning. MTV : So if this year’s shoes don’t have the auto laces, future years’ might? Gale : Yes! It’s not 2015 yet. It’s only 2011! MTV : I can’t wait that long! I can’t be patient. Gale : No one ever can. MTV : What’s your sense of what this all means to Michael J. Fox? Gale : It’s nothing but positive. He’s thrilled out it. He’s going to be on “Letterman” and you’ll hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. MTV : What’s your recollection of creating and using the shoes in the film? Gale : We were associated with Nike on the first movie because Marty McFly is wearing Nikes on that. We said, “OK, he’s wearing Nike shoes in 1985, what will the shoes of the future do?” One of the things we wanted to do was keep all the elements we had established in the first movie and bring them forward to the future. We had the Texaco station in 1985 and then 2015. We show the movie theater, from a Ronald Reagan movie to a porno movie to “Jaws 19” in 3-D. The Nikes were a continuing element to distinguish between the past, present and future. We thought it was cool at the time. The fact that people still think it’s cool is really cool. MTV : Who has the original power-lacing Nikes? Gale : I think Nike has the original pair. They’re all rotted. They weren’t built to be anything other than movie props. And for the other pairs that didn’t need to self-lace that he used as part of his wardrobe, they must have made a dozen pairs of them. Where those are, I have no idea. Whether they got ditched, stolen, sold, I have no idea. MTV : Now that the Nikes are a reality, is that a load off? No one will be coming up to you on the street and asking why they’re not available? Gale : No! They’ll stop asking me that, but then they’ll want to know when we’re getting the hoverboards. Check out everything we’ve got on “Back to the Future Part II.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Designer Drugs ‘Tell A Story’ On Hardcore/Softcore Album

Pennsylvania dance duo are set to take the stage at SXSW and Miami’s Ultra Music Festival. By Adam Stewart Designer Drugs Photo: MTV It’s been a long road for Pennsylvania electronic duo Designer Drugs, but for Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson, that’s half the fun. Having been making music together for well over 10 years, the duo recently debuted their second album, Hardcore/Softcore, on Ultra Records and have been thrust into the ever-expanding American dance-music audience. Now, on the heels of the album’s second single, “Through the Prism,” featuring rapper and fellow Brooklynite Cerebral Vortex, Designer Drugs are poised to bring their unique brand of grind-house electronic to the masses Thursday night (March 17) at Austin, Texas’ South by Southwest, followed by a huge set on the Live Stage at Ultra Music Festival in Miami on March 25. “We started doing a lot of remixes and just trying to make a specific kind of music,” Patrick told MTV News. “But now, with the album, we are just doing whatever we want and making more of an electronic album.” “We had, like, a hundred songs and riffs,” Nelson added. “And we just basically picked ones we thought were the best for the album and put them all on. We didn’t really have a good idea of what we wanted to accomplish, but it ended up being what it was and we were pretty happy with it at the end.” Kicking things off with the first single “Drop Down,” a wobbly synth monster reminiscent of an edgy Prodigy-esque sound garnished with Gregorian chants, the vibe DD bring to the dance-music game is unique and captivating. Hardcore/Softcore brings the art of an album back to the table, melding full-length tracks with melodic interludes. “I think it kind of helped to tell a story for this album, but we didn’t plan it,” Patrick said. “Nothing for this album was really planned. It all kind of happened; we wrote all the music and then kind of linked it together.” “We just thought, ‘This sounded cool, but let’s not make it an entire song; let’s just kind of put it in there and see what happens,’ ” Nelson added. “But we do listen to a lot of old classic-rock stuff, too, like Pink Floyd and all that other stuff. So there was a little bit of influence from there.” Will you be catching Designer Drugs on the Live Stage of Ultra Music Festival in Miami? Let us know in the comments below!

Lady Gaga Makes Runway Debut At Mugler Fashion Show

Singer tries her hand at modeling in Paris, also previewing the song ‘Government Hooker.’ By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga at the Thierry Mugler Paris Women’s Fashion Week show Photo: Francois Guillot/ Getty Images Before Wednesday’s (March 2) Mugler fashion show in Paris even kicked off, fans were treated to some behind-the-scenes action as models and stylists scrambled to finalize the looks for Nicola Formichetti’s debut women’s-wear collection for the line. Perhaps the most famous model backstage? That would be Lady Gaga . Mugler was the perfect line for Gaga’s catwalk debut — not just because creative director Formichetti is her stylist, but also because its gothy, latexy and glamorous aesthetic perfectly fits Gaga’s over-the-top style. When the show did eventually kick off, Paris’ most fashionable, including Vogue editor Anna Wintour, filled the seats to see what Formichetti had up his sleeve. This season, the brand showed models styled with sleek ponytails and variations on the cat eye. The clothes had lots of leather, sheer fabrics and plastic-like garments that were equally futuristic and sophisticated, fitting perfectly to the model’s bodies. Shoulders were an emphasis of the ensembles, while pencil skirts and wide-legged pants also ruled. Blacks, Army greens and dark neutrals flooded the line, which also included wintery whites, leopard prints and cobalt blues. Photos: Lady Gaga’s walk down the Paris runway. Gaga hit the stage early in the show in her Mugler finest. For her initial appearance, she wore a version of a beret, two flowing pigtails, a dazzling diamond necklace, a sheer black top with a bra, a leather skirt and towering boots. Gaga posed and smoked a cigarette onstage as models, including Zombie Boy, tried to act like the superstar wasn’t onstage with them. As she walked off, cheers could be heard from the audience. Gaga re-emerged for the close of the show in a flowing, white skirt with white bustier and super-high platforms. She completed the look with a white hat and sheer scarf. (Always self-aware, Gaga was heard telling handlers backstage before she hit the runway, “If I vomit on the stage, it would be good press.” She also was spotted practicing her fiercest strut.) As “Born This Way” played out, the models took their final walks. Gaga hugged Formichetti as the designer came out for his bow. Backstage, as the live-stream cameras still rolled, Gaga took photos and got flowers. In addition to playing “BTW” and “Schei&#223e,” Gaga debuted “Government Hooker,” a trance-y dance track about all things sexy in which she recites lines like “Put your hands on me.” Did you check out Lady Gaga’s modeling debut? Natalie Portman ‘Shocked And Disgusted’ By John Galliano’s Hitler Remarks

Designer fired by Christian Dior for making anti-Semitic comments. By Eric Ditzian Natalie Portman Photo: Matt Carr/Getty Images A day after Natalie Portman avoided answering a reporter’s question about allegedly anti-Semitic remarks made by Christian Dior designer John Galliano, the newly minted Oscar winner released a statement condemning him. During a post-Oscar press conference on Sunday, a question about Galliano’s comments was cut off before Portman, who appears in ads for Miss Dior Cherie perfume, could answer. But after video surfaced the next day of Galliano expressing an admiration for Adolf Hitler, the 29-year-old actress announced late Monday that she would have not associate herself with the designer. “I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today,” she said in the statement. “In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.” The video in question, obtained by Britain’s The Sun, reportedly shows Galliano at a bar in Paris in October. He appears intoxicated as he speaks to unseen patrons at a nearby table. “I love Hitler,” Galliano says. “Your mother, your forefathers would be f—ing gassed and f—ing dead.” Dior originally suspended Galliano for other, allegedly anti-Semitic remarks made during an argument at a bar in Paris last week. The designer was arrested and charged with assault and making anti-Semitic comments. On Tuesday, Dior officially fired Galliano, according to Women’s Wear Daily. “I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior,” Dior president Sidney Toledano said in a statement announcing the action. “I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful,” Portman added in her statement.

John Galliano Declares: I Love Hitler!

On Friday, John Galliano was suspended as the chief designer by House of Dior, as a couple in Paris complained that this fashion guru assaulted them with racial and religions slurs. Specifically, patrons at a bar called La Perle told authorities that Galliano hurled anti-Semitic insults in their direction, a charge the designer’s lawyer “formally denies,” adding: “legal action will be taken against those making such accusations.” This allegation may now be harder to deny, however. John Galliano Loves Hitler In a newly-released cell phone video, posted by Great Britain’s The Sun , Galliano slurs his words and tells a woman: “I love Hitler. People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f—ing gassed.” When asked where he’s from, Galliano replies: “Your asshole.” Under French law, the stating of anti-Semitic remarks qualifies as “incitement to racial prejudice.” It’s a criminal offense that can carry a sentence of up to six months in prison.
