The publication made the announcement on Tuesday at midnight Eastern time after teasing readers with seductive footage of the beauty on Twitter. It then released an article that praised the 28-year old British actress as possessing a “gorgeous balance,” explaining: “She manages to bring together a number of opposites, to make them natural: sweetness and toughness, emotionalism with a kind of cold-blooded determination. “Something in these contrasts explains her sex appeal, too. She can play queen and kid sister, dominatrix and pal.” Sure, whatever. All those things are true. But just look at the Emilia Clarke photos above. We’re pretty sure they explain why the star is considered the Sexiest Woman Alive better than even the most flowing prose can. Clarke was also dubbed Most Desirable Woman on the Planet by AskMen.com last year. Previous winners of Esquire’s distinction, meanwhile, have included Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Mila Kunis. “[Clarke] is unforgettable in ‘Game of Thrones’ and was hands down the number one choice of Esquire’s staff, friends and family,” Esquire’s editorial projects director, Lisa Hintelman, tells The Associated Press.
